I feel sorry for the forward facing employee that kept asking about my order first. Toady 7-10/2026 at 12:43 my grand daughter and I order sushi to go and was told 15-20 minutes for my order. I was ok with that. When I returned to pick it up it wasn't ready and I waited an additional 30 minutes for it to be complete. The thing that irritated me was a customer named Louie walks in, sits at the sushi bar. The sushi master knew him and within 10 minutes he had a plate of sushi and minutes later another plate. I was almost ready to cancel my order and it showed up and looked like my Samantha roll was thrown in the box. I will never go here and will tell others the same. read more

In town visiting, I've always loved trappers. Since the Kent station location closed, middle meeting spot is now this location. Met at 5:30 on a Saturday. Busy, we have a party of 5. We walk in, and the hostess says "what do you need?" We need an 18 wheeler and a bag of ball point pens. What do you think we need? They then tell us we have to wait 45 minutes because there are only 2 tables that they can move to seat more than 4 people. Even though there are 4 open tables that I can see. 2 are even next to each other. But you know, I don't know the fire code or whatever. So we just sit and wait. I wasn't watching the time, but we were finally sat. Our orders were taken, but I needed to put in an order for our party that was later than trappers was lol and we couldn't find our server. She was off in the corner flirting with another patron. I waited for over 5 minutes before I asked another server for assistance. The last order that was placed showed up before anyone else's. Maybe 10 minutes later everyone else's orders started showing up, except for my drink. Overall, this was not a pleasant experience. Thank goodness trappers food is fairly consistent. read more

I was scared to try this place because of the negative reviews but we had a pretty good experience! Their happy hour menu is awesome. The waitress was friendly but disappeared for periods of time, so I could see the possibility of getting slow service if it were more busy. The appetizers we got were just okay, we got the jalepeño poppers and stuffed peppers. The sushi was actually pretty good! We also got the rum punch drink and it was delicious. Been to this location several times now and it's always consistent. Great service, food is outstanding and easy to find parking. Those are always my top three criteria. The place is also very clean and the servers are on top of turning the tables over quickly. We ordered the Samantha,, Rock and roll and a Captn Crunch roll. Each was outstanding served with fresh fish. Presentation was great and our server did a great job of keeping our glasses filled. I grew up in a place where Sushi is synonym of fun gatherings and events, and where the largest group of Japanese descendants outside of Japan live. We eat a lot of sushi down there!!! So, I can say that I know a thing or two about great Sushi. And Trapper's Covington delivers it. The food is exceptional. This last visit there, I, of course, as Ms. Simplicity, had the Marvelous. Loved it! The cucumber salad was also super fresh, the miso soup to live for! The atmosphere is always fun. The staff was super friendly. I even got offered a cup of soup on the house, which I declined of course as I knew the platter would be more than enough for me, personally. Not only recommend but will definitely go back. Would like to start off by saying our server Chelsea C was great. She was sweet, attentive and checked in regularly. That said this was the worst sushi experience my wife and I have ever had. It seems to be this location. Our fried roll was burnt so badly it overcooked the fish inside and we got rock hard rice. The proportions seemed completely off. Either, way too much rice with little ingredients or the complete opposite. Really seemed like no one behind the counter cares. If you really want trappers and live in the area, then go to Enumclaw. Been going to the Covington Trapper's Sushi location many times a year for the last 13 years, since this is the closest location to my home. However, last 2 visits to this location caused this location to lose my family as customers for life. While service and food for the most part have been excellent, when it comes to their billing practices - fool me ones - it's on me, fool me 2nd time and I'll never come back. Full story: 3 visits ago, visited this location for lunch buffet, was told we can choose either lunch buffet menu or dinner buffet menu. We chose and ordered from Dinner buffet menu - No problem. Next visit, same thing, however we chose lunch menu and didn't order anything from dinner menu. When bill came, we were charged for dinner buffet menu. I brought it to their attention and told them we did come in before dinner hours started, manager offered $20 gift card. During our final visit here, we came here when Trapper's was running a promotion, buy 1 roll, get 1 roll free; one free roll per person. The 2 of us ordered 2 rolls each, when bill came, only one roll was deducted. I showed server an email I received and told her if she has to, she can split the bill in 2, response - we don't do that and I said the promotion does say one free roll per person. She refused to take 2nd roll off. A month later same promotion was running again, we went to Federal Way location, 2 rolls were deducted from the bill - no questions asked. My go to sushi rolls here are the Trapper and Bonney lake. you should try them if you haven't so already. Wait time was too long when the restaurant barely had any customers. When my number got called, I went in and almost slipped and fell over. The floor was wet. The waitress witnessed the whole thing but proceeded to greet me with "How is your day going?" No apology. Well, as you can see, it is not going well since I almost fell. We went for the all-you-can-eat menu. The portion was big. I tried to try as many rolls as possible but unfortunately, half-sized roll was not an option. Believe me- there was a time when I'd give this restaurant a 5-star review. As a longtime Trapper's customer, I'd regularly visit for happy hour or the occasional AYCE. They recently changed their HH menu and the specials are now far from "special". Instead of 3 rolls for $33, it's now $33 for 2 rolls and an app. And the rolls and apps you can pick from are limited. Keep in mind, this is already after Trapper's changed that HH special from $9/roll, to $10 - you get it. The regular menu's also spiked item prices. The service is sometimes slow, but the people are usually nice. If you're in Covington and need a sushi fix, I'm sure this will do the job. The overpricing is our main gripe now. Hopefully they'll take a beat and reconsider their changes, but who knows? For how much everything is, we'd rather take that money and spend it elsewhere.. Sorry, Trapper's. read more

Recent togo order in Covington was almost an hour past promised time. The roll I ordered was not like that they usually serve. Seared tuna nigiri they gave me was the fully cooked end of the tuna. I paid for edamame and they ran out at 6:30 pm. Asked if I wanted miso soup and no, not really the same. Imagine ordering sushi and finding hair in it... but wait ... now imagine finding paper towel pieces in your miso soup??? Yuck! I can't believe it either. My wife used to love eating and ordering from Trappers but the last few times there have been issues with each order. This was the last straw... she called and spoke with a manager who "offered to put her name on a list for another soup in the future" No Thank You! There was no sense of concern about contamination of food and it being served to other customers. Luckily she did not eat any of it. It was a ton of food and I was surprised with the extras (seaweed salad and octopus). Great value for money spent. Also ordered a couple of rolls here and they were all good. I ordered to go. Food was packaged well and they provided tons of soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. They also threw in miso soup and cucumber salad as extras. Of course it was not even prepared at all and ready at the specified time. Someone dropped the ball real bad and basically put aside the order to be ignored. It's truly an embarrassment when you show up and multiple staff are bumbling around trying to figure what transpired previously. Nothing bothers the hell out of me more than inefficiency and delays...waiting for them to make 15 orders on the spot because someone didn't know what to do with a call ahead order. I also don't appreciate when we specified leaving out one raw component of a roll for a pregnant staff member, only to find it included when unpacking the order. This is the third time I've visited a trappers - i've been to the kent station location and southcenter (i don't think either are still there?). Kent station was the worst overall, cleanliness - food - service, all was a bust. Southcenter was clean and efficient. This location is the best by far - it was busy enough on a saturday for late lunch but seating and food turnaround was good. Hana was on top of her tables and efficient at serving them all while being friendly. I had pretty low expectations overall but so far it was good. I ordered the jalapeño poppers (spicy tuna+cream cheese stuffed jalapeño, tempura fried with warrior sauce, teriyaki sauce, japanese pepper and green onion) and negihama roll (special request of yellowtail with green onion). The jalapeño poppers were surprisingly light - the fried parts were thin and the actual flavors of the jalapeño were evident, the sauces were sweet but overall good. 3 pieces were too many for me but i would get it again. The negihama fell short for me which i expected - it wasn't the worst but not something i'd try again. The nori is too wet and overall mid. My bias is always raw fish for sushi but there were limited options in the area which is how i ended up here (post rugby and pending appointment). We thought we would support local. It wasn't the best experience a couple years ago when we came here but it wasn't bad enough to keep us away. Unfortunately, this place is screaming "Don't come back!" Walking to our table, I noticed the floor is very slippery. That explains why dirty running throughout the place. We ordered apps and one of the apps is sold out. We then ordered soft shell crab to replace it. Wow, it was four tiny pieces of something came out. It doesn't even look like a crab and no crab legs. It's like half a crab or maybe less. The other sushi was decent. Kind of like Safeway sushi with some scallops added on top. Honestly, Safeway sushi may be better. These sushi are small rolls and falling apart. Then I looked at the chef, he is a full bearded guy with no net on his face. Hmm...I don't know how much of his facial hair has dropped in the food. When the sushi came, there was no ginger or wasabi until we asked. The last part solidified my decision to not come back. When I got my bill, there is a 2% Restaurant Charge without us knowing. This is low. This place is so desperate for money making everything small and now added a fee? Plus my 18% tips, that 20% for bare minimum service. Took about an hour to get our food, took 15 mins to flag our server down to get our check, and no one ever checked in on us in between to ask how the food was, to refill our water, or anything. We have been coming to this trappers location since they first opened and have always loved it, but will never return to this location after our experience tonight. We experienced poor customer service including inaccurate information, bad attitude from staff, and an unnecessary wait. There appears to be no management and the staff is just not making effort. We arrived at 6pm and the restaurant was only 50% full but were told the wait would be 20 minutes. We specifically asked if they had teriyaki chicken before waiting as my husband does not eat any seafood. After waiting 40 minutes we were seated and again confirmed they had teriyaki chicken and steak before ordering drinks. They confirmed and took our drink order. Then when we went to order our food they said they were out of chicken and steak and only had salmon. At this point we had wasted an hour and had to leave. read more

My boyfriend and I have both ordered for DoorDash pick up from this location multiple times. Every time we do, we arrive a little after the estimated time it's ready. We are both aware estimates aren't always accurate. HOWEVER, it should not be so inaccurate that we are sitting there for upwards of 15-20 minutes. That is the literal point of ordering for pick up/ordering ahead. I'm convinced they don't start working on your order until you are there. This most recent time they made the incorrect roll so my poor boyfriend had to sit there for another 15 minutes.
