I have tried to post this for two days now, so hopefully today it works... ugh. I have to say Monday night I saw something I have NEVER seen in a restaurant in front of customers. One of the sushi chefs at the Sushi Bar, blonde hair, in the middle of the bar was so out of line I couldn't believe was I was hearing. A blonde lady came over to him and I could tell she was genuinely concerned about some sushi she was trying to get. She asked the blonde chef guy if he could hurry with the roll because a customer was waiting instead of what I expected to hear, he says, "FUCK YOU". I couldn't believe my ears, never in my life have I experienced something like this. So I continued to watch this angry chef, again the blonde lady didn't say anything rude back and instead seemed frustrated and again just said, "Please". Again the blonde chef guy says, "Fuck off". I was mortified... what if there were kids around, is that the way you are allowed to talk not only to your boss but around other customers? Then the blonde lady asked one of the other Chefs if he could just quickly make this sushi and he said, "What did you just say to him, don't you dare make that fucking roll I got it". I thought Trappers was better then this, the sushi is good but this one chef is ruining it for everyone else. I thought they were about customer service and being cautious about what is said in public. The nice blonde lady looked helpless she was trying to get a food order for a customer and this cook is acting like a child in front of everyone. I can say that I will NEVER come to this trappers again, I was appalled and embarrassed and I hope someone deals with this issue ASAP. Ok, Kent Trappers fail... how was Covington?...GF Menu Fail!!! Let them know of my food sensitivity, got the GF Menu, GF soy sauce, BUT reacted immediately with itchy cheeks and a vomitting histamine reaction... turns out, kitchen put some type of garnish on my sushi that had been marinated in regular soy sauce. manager was trying to blame me! Trappers has been a favorite since they opened in Covington several years ago. Depending on who the chef is, it can be really fun to sit at the bar and talk to them. They have a good all you can eat deal for the bar as well. I kind of think of some of their rolls as "americanized" but that's okay. The food is really good, and the rolls are creative. If you are a stickler for "authentic" sushi, this might not be the place for you. Every time we go in, we know we will have a Mountain and a Trapper. Other favorites include the Timmy, the Rock and Roll, and the Trump. Service can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's a lot of fun, other times it's just business as usual. The sauce was so salty I couldn't even finish it. Jesus I would give this place 0 stars if there was an option. I had issues here previously due to their cooks hitting on me with my boyfriend there (?). And tonight we tried to go out with some friends to celebrate, and we had 4 people in our party and waited 1.5 hours, while everyone around us got their food. The waiter didn't even acknowledge us when we tried to flag him down. Eventually (about 15 minutes later after trying to flag him down) had the courtesy of coming up to us and telling us they would be with us in under 10 minutes with our food. There were 5 tables open and the genius of a hostess couldn't quite comprehend how to get 5 people seated. 20 minutes later we were finally seated and 15 minutes after that I had to ask for some service because we hadn't seen a waitress yet. The food tasted great and was fast. The sushi bar is definitely worth the money. I was full and happy after I was finished eating. The server came around and asked us for refills a few times which I like since some just leave you alone. The sushi chef was both quick and of good quality. Today was my 3rd visit to this particular Trapper's. A friend and myself met for dinner. We both love Trapper's rolls! Today I am so disappointed, we were served cold Miso soup, turns out it was the last of the pot... The bottom residue...Gross! the waitress replaced with new batch., but it wasn't even hot. When ordering I asked for spicy mayonnaise sauce on my "Covington Roll", it was given to me in a soup bowl on the side... What? Not drizzled decoratively on the roll. The waitress had to come back several times to clarify our order. But the straw that broke the camel's back was, she came back one final time and asked if we wanted one check or two? We had told her it would be on one check when we ordered. At this point we looked at each other and said "do you think she has listened one word we have said?" And we both said "no way". Been going here for years and it's just not how it used to be. Service was good but food was not. My 9 year olds kids meal was more like a toddler meal. There have been problems with this place for a while. The food's fine but not the best, the real problem is the staff. They have been consistently unprofessional for years. Today was the tipping point however. I came in on a Sunday around 2 not expecting it to be busy. I was correct but I couldn't sit at the bar because because there was a party of 10 waiting. There are ten seats at the bar, the staff asked if I could wait for ten people to be seated and wait until they had there all you can eat and then leave. Trappers staff have always been unprofessional but the fact that they would allow the entire bar to be taken up by one party is bullshit. There were some people waiting but definitely not 10. The fact they would try to hold seats in a limited seating area for that amount of people is stupid, but the entire group not being there makes it insane. read more

When she never came back with the napkin, utensils or water refills we started to wonder what happened. Called to place an order at trappers sushi in anthem Arizona. The phone kept getting picked up and hung up over and over again. My daughter also called, same thing. Finally got a hold of the manager who said he was the one forwarding the calls yet it wasn't getting forward to an answering machine, it was hanging up. The girls who answer the phone there don't know what rolls they have. I asked for a Covington roll and they didn't know what it was. They will not allow you to pay for a to go order over the phone. I asked for five soy sauces and the manager guaranteed I would be given five but of course they only gave me three. When I asked for the corporate office phone number to complain I had to wait on hold for several minutes and then the manager William gave me the wrong phone number. He simply gave me the phone number to the downtown Phoenix location. The manager there wanted me to wait on the phone for five minutes to get the corporate office phone number.
