Always a fun place for my family and I to go to! The staff is always pleasant and happy! The food is delicious!

Been going here for years and it's just not how it used to be. Service was good but food was not. My 9 year olds kids meal was more like a toddler meal. We were warned that our meal would take long cause they were backed up on take out orders. We always get the same 3 rolls and they just didn't taste as good as it used too. There have been problems with this place for a while. The food's fine but not the best, the real problem is the staff. They have been consistently unprofessional for years. Today was the tipping point however. I came in on a Sunday around 2 not expecting it to be busy. I was correct but I couldn't sit at the bar because because there was a party of 10 waiting. There are ten seats at the bar, the staff asked if I could wait for ten people to be seated and wait until they had there all you can eat and then leave. Trappers staff have always been unprofessional but the fact that they would allow the entire bar to be taken up by one party is bullshit. There were some people waiting but definitely not 10. The fact they would try to hold seats in a limited seating area for that amount of people is stupid, but the entire group not being there makes it insane. read more

Trappers in Covington takes the cake. #1 in my book. Jayson works wonders behind the bar. Trappers is family run and that shows. They treat all the patrons so absolutely wonderful that it's almost impossible not to come back for more. The lunch specials can't be beat. Well yes they can... the lunch special gets shadowed by their dinner specials. It's a much for any sushi fan. read more

Server asked what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down. We politely asked for a minute to look over the menu and proceeded to sit for another 15-20 minutes without a server. Eventually caved and left without ordering. You win this one. read more

i have been to multiple trapper's locations. covington may be the most disappointing. the management staff yelled across the restaurant "CLOSE IT DOWN!" the minute the clock struck 9. the service was amateur. the food lacked discipline. maybe they should, "CLOSE IT DOWN!" read more

This is by far the best sushi I have had in the state of Washington. I have had tons of sushi and this place is very generous with their portions and their creative and innovative rolls are a great twist for the adventerous type. Now some of their rolls are really Americanized but they definitely don't fall short. The quality and freshness of the fish is the best I have experienced and you can tell they take pride in their presentation. What's even more surprising is how reasonably priced their menu is. By far the best priced sushi restaurant I have been to. My absolute favorites are the Mountain roll and the Mt. Rainer. They both are a meal in and of themselves because of how generous their portions are. Their all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner options are GREAT if you have a huge appetite. Service sometimes can be a bit shakey but if you can, sit at the sushi bar and talk it up with the sushi chefs because they all have great personalities and love to laugh and joke with ya! read more

I love this trappers but today was real uncomfortable and weird I felt really disrespected because today I had a new sushi chef I never saw before his name was Pedro had long hair. He was so rude to his fellow chefs when they asked him a question, and this was the worst part, he told the waitress/host to go jump off a bridge as a joke...right in front of me. Also asked him if the tips on the checks were going to them also because the other chefs were really great I was tipping big, and he responded "no man, come on" I was shocked with his attitude didn't feel comfortable at all today. I use to be a fan of Trapper sushi they have good sushi and because of that I am giving them 2 stars. The service I rcvd there was absolutely the worst I have EVER been treated. I took my mother there since I had been telling her about this place for sometime. I took her on a Saturday. It was its usual busy. We were seated and waited on. Their drinks come in really big cups and when our waitress brought our drinks she spilled one of drinks on my daughters back. My 10 yr old daughter was embarressed and scared. She then comes to clean up all the soda with paper towels so of course we waited a whild for her to do it BY HERSELF. Then we had another waitress (an older one) come to finally help after I suggested to the other waitress that maybe a mop would work better. The older waitress tells me "oh, just so you know, this happens at this table ALL THE TIME" And I looked at her shocked that she would say that, and I said "well that doesnt make me feel better" and she says looks at me back rude and responded "well you dont have to have get attitude about some spilled soda" I said my daughter had soda spillled on her back and your telling ME not to get an attitude??? At this point a lady who was sitting next to me had to tell the waitress that yes indeed my daughter had soda down her back and at that point the watiress says to my daughter "Oh honey did you have soda spill down your back'?? WTF?? Ok moving on....after we got cleaned up and I didnt walk out we proceeded to order and we ordered pickle salad. The waitress comes back and tells us they are out and we had no choice but to settle with the soup. Ok fine....moving along again. We decided to order 5 fried icecreams and again the waitress comes out to tell us that they only have 3 left. So we just got those and shared. At the end of the night we got a bill for 83.00. YES EIGHTY THREE DOLLARS!!!! They didnt compensate for the horrible service for my daughter getting a coke bath, for running out of food NOTHING!!! So I respectfully paid the meal and asked to speak to mgr who turns out to be Trapper the owners brother....He proceeds to tell me that the waitresses told him I was mad because I had to wait?!?!? Excuse me??? they never told him about the coke bath or anything else. BUT his mistake was he never came to check on me. I dont care how busy your restaurant is, if you an upset customer you check on them wether its about the wait or a coke bath or because its too loud. Its a customer and their complaint should be valid and valued. I was lied about and treated horribly, I hope they didnt spit in my food but I doubt it since the mgr made because he told me he had bad employees which no doubt I believe. He did ask me what I would like for him to do, and offered a gift certificate. But I will never go back so I declined. read more

The only reason I'm giving this even two stars is the hot sake was great. Not so much the menu changes... We are regular customers to both this location and Kent station and we usually order tuna roll and tempura combination plates either shrimp or salmon. To say these are "combination" plates is a stretch to say the least. We used to come and there were big chunks of green pepper, onion, mushroom, zucchini, sweet potato and asparagus. Now... I'm sure for profit reasons, you get one measly slice of onion and two spindly spears of asparagus!! not worth the money! The only good thing about my meal was the sake. My salmon was hard and dry on the top... Gross.. Won't be back, you have lost a loyal regular customer with your stupid money grubbing menu changes. Editing this review to one star as we were NEVER asked if we wanted more water or tea. And the tuna roll was very fishy smelling (even for sushi) hoping we don't get sick! Called to place an order at trappers sushi in anthem Arizona. The phone kept getting picked up and hung up over and over again. My daughter also called, same thing. Finally got a hold of the manager who said he was the one forwarding the calls yet it wasn't getting forward to an answering machine, it was hanging up. The girls who answer the phone there don't know what rolls they have. I asked for a Covington roll and they didn't know what it was. They will not allow you to pay for a to go order over the phone. I asked for five soy sauces and the manager guaranteed I would be given five but of course they only gave me three. When I asked for the corporate office phone number to complain I had to wait on hold for several minutes and then the manager William gave me the wrong phone number. He simply gave me the phone number to the downtown Phoenix location. The manager there wanted me to wait on the phone for five minutes to get the corporate office phone number. I asked for a call back with the information and still have not received it read more

The Older Waitress Needs to be Fired! She is f**king rude. Avoid sitting on the south end of the bar. This is the area she serves. On two separate occasions, I had invited different friends to join me for the All You Can Eat Sushi deal at the bar for $17.99. On both occasions, we sat in the same seats and had the same rude waitress. On the first occasion, she accused my friend of eating my sushi. On the second occasion, she was extremely rude in the manner in which she asked us to move our chairs to the right to allow room for her to get in/out from behind the bar on the left. She made it sound as if we were blocking the entry intentionally. We barely even moved the chairs out when we sat down. She clearly needed a smoke! If you go, be sure to request a different waitress. If it wasn't for the older waitress, I would give the restaurant 3 stars. The food is decent considering it is the only place in the area to get decent sushi. The rolls are a bit huge. I can only eat up to 3 rolls. The raw fish was decent. Also, they charge for tea. BTW: During the very first visit to this Trappers, the waitress gave us a $70 bill for $25 worth of food. She charged us for a whole bottle of wine, when we only ordered a single glass. They also charged us for miso soup that we never received. It took them 2 attempts to correct the errors. Obviously, they do not invest enough time and energy in training their wait staff. They are losing customers left and right because of this. Just an average AMERICANIZED sushi place. So many people I know have raved about this place but let me give you all a lesson: if the sushi you are eating is cooked then it's not the real deal. Trust me, I'm part Japanese. Anyway, one star for friendly service, one for taste and one for price. The presentation could be better and I prefer more raw options. Really like Trapper's, but most of the time we end up at Mizu because it's closer and not usually as busy on the sushi side. The service can be a little lacking at times - either too pushy/chatty or never to be seen again after ordering. The Bonney Lake is my favorite, but the mounds of spicy crab/krab are a little excessive. This is usually why we end up at Mizu - not as overdone. read more

First time I ever ordered for pick from this trapper's location. Usually I order from Kent location since I live near here. I was very disappointed with the service and the timing of when I got my order. I called and ordered at 11:18 am, they informed me it will take 15 mins. I did get there before the 15 mins so I went in to pay ahead of time. Three other people showed up after me for pick up as well I'm assuming, they all got their orders before me. The server at the door told me she would bring my food out when it was ready and after over 30 mins of waiting I walk in just to have her tell me it'll be another 3 mins cause they are waiting for the scallops. My order wasn't even that big for them to have taken that long and I was so disappointed in the service. Will never be going here again for a simple pick up order! read more

I love Trapper's! Yes, it's Americanized Japanese food, but it is DELICIOUS. They offer all-you-can-eat at the bar for reasonable prices (there's often a wait though - be prepared!). The sushi chefs are awesome dudes. Jimmy has given me all kinds of advice over the years, most of it pretty sound. My favorite roll is the Bonney Lake (no hot sauce!). It's a giant, filling roll topped with spicy crab (but it's not really spicy at all, which I like). It's a bit extravagant, but those kind of rolls are the BEST hangover cure. Mmmm. read more

Sushi is not great. It's alright if you are looking for rolls completely unrecognizable and overdressed. Too many sauces on the rolls. All that sauce must be attempting to hide the fact that their product is not fresh. If I wanted teriyaki sauce all over everything I'd buy a bottle of yoshidas and make a pot of rice at home. We sat at the sushi bar. The chef was ok. Sorta rude. My friend and I had never been and had some questions about the menu. He didn't seem like he wanted to answer questions that night. Don't go on a Friday night, this place has plenty of staff but none of them know what they're doing, between the guy who should be making sushi just standing around doing nothing and the 9 servers (almost enough for one per table) it took over an hour to get our food (which we didn't before we walked out) this place's service is garbage as soon as they get busy. Food is amazing! Customer service is definitely bad! I have had to wait multiple times for 30 minutes to pay for my bill after waiting forever to order my rolls. When sitting at the bar the chef's will help those who they know and forget about yhose who they don't know. This has only happened at this location and the kent location. We are regulars there since Sushi Town. At the Covington location we did the all you can eat dinner. It's not Super expensive but it's not cheap either. The scallops were rubbery, tasteless and tough not to mention stale! The Mayo was so loaded that that's all you can taste. Most of the chefs look overworked and make you feel like you have to beg them for sushi. You can sit there for two hours and all you get is three rolls. Of course they look at you like as if you've eaten 20 rolls. This one female African American sushi chef take the cake at making her customers feel like they have to beg for her attention. Why is she still there really? This one other white, small built chef that goes by J*** was tweaking and sweating while he was rolling sushi it's so freakin gross! read more

Always a consistent experience here, excellence! I ordered the wrong roll a few days ago and realized it as I went to pick up my take out. The Manager on duty was a nice younger blonde gal who was happy to make it right for me, even though the mistake made was all my own. It truly made my day and meant a lot to me. I went here 2 days ago and i ordered their mountain and there house specialty. It was good and my girlfriend and i love it but when i digged in to my food there was plastic wrap on my food. It was disappointing but sushi was really good though. It's sushi americanize so if you guys are in to that then you will like this place. = p Hope that when they serve you food there is no plastic wrap or any other crap. read more

I love trappers I love bringing new to sushi people here for the first time to warm them up a little bit to it They have good deals through out the week We never go on weekends it's more spendy and it's always packed My kids love the chicken nuggets they make DONT EVER STOP MAKING THAT!! Ordered a to go order here for sushi. When I arrived the staff seemed to be unable to manage the crowd and they did not have our order! They kept asking me if I called the other resturante, had I called the other place I would have been at the other place to pick up my sushi! I can't express how aweful the service is here, terrible. They need to hire a hostes that can handle the door and orders that come in on the phone. The wait staff and a manager as well as the hoste were all in the front trying to handle the business. It appeared no one was in charge and all the customers were gettin the shaft, except of course the people who knew the manager, they were getting the red carpet treatment and getting seated right away. They really need to get an experienced hostess on board. Insanity is the best way to describe this place. I will never return. read more

Ick. Long and short of it. This place was busy but I have to guess you need a certain palette to like this place's sushi. I've never had to put soy sauce on top of my sushi to make it to my stomach. I had one of the special-type rolls with some sort of nasty mayonnaise coated scallops on top and some small slices of fish on top. The salmon that was included needed some more food coloring... It was barely a salmon-ish hue. The Cali roll... They must have been running short on avacodo cuz if any of the pieces had some it was bare minimal. The special roll they must have been using dull knives as I had to pull the pieces apart which obviously made them fall apart when I tried to pick them up. The Cali was somehow the same way, fell apart when we tried to pick them up. The sushi chefs themselves... Ok I get being a casual place but a sushi chef has to pay attention to detail and generally being meticulous. The chefs here should really look at how they present themselves. Overall we tried this place for the 3rd time thinking the first 2 were flukes and it might be ok this time... Boy were we mistaken. read more

COVINGTON ROLL! you're all I need for a good sushi fix.........

Took my parents out to sushi this afternoon around 2PM thinking, hey, we beat the lunch rush. This will be great. It'll be quick, easy, painless... False. There were clearly many tables open, but several were not cleaned up when we walked in, and even when they were cleared off, they were not reset for seating until we had waited about 15-20 minutes. There were other open tables as well, but those were also not set for seating, even though there were a couple of parties waiting before we had arrived. The girl who was originally at the door glanced up at me, but didn't take my name down or offer any type of service. It wasn't until another waitress came by 5 minutes later that my name was taken for seating. It's clear that there was a bit of a staffing shortage today, so I don't blame the waitresses for the wait - however, the girl who ignored me upfront was simply unacceptable. I could tell while we were waiting that she was either still ramping up or not very good at her job - she wiped down the tables that were already wiped down after ignoring me, and proceeded to ask the other waitresses, "Who needs a table?" - thanks, more professional waitress for pointing out, "Everyone needs a table." Food-wise Trapper's is not bad at all for a suburbian spot - the pieces of sashimi are generous and quite fresh compared to any other fast sushi joint in the area, and the rolls a reasonable size. I really enjoyed the entire dish of sashimi, and will remember to order that should I find myself at Trapper's again. We ordered 3 rolls in addition to the sashimi appetizer: a Spider Roll, Rock & Roll Roll, and the Timmy Roll. I normally love Spider Rolls, but I was not a huge fan of this one - my dad fortunately was, and finished the majority of it. The Rock & Roll Roll was a recommendation by our waitress - this was alright, but not my favorite. I should have read the description better and saw that there was cream cheese in it. This made the roll feel a bit heavy, so I was not a huge fan. Don't get me wrong the - this was good, and if you like cream cheese in your sushi, you should definitely go for this one. Just not a personal preference of mine. The Timmy roll was probably my favorite of the 3 - it was tempura'd, which made me worried, but had great flavor balance and was really well done. Overall, you're a solid neighborhood sushi joint Trapper's - I would have given you 3/5 stars, but that service at the beginning really took away from my overall experience. The waitress at our table did make the experience a tad bit better, but really - you should set the tone from the start, not try to make up for it later on. read more

Went last weekend on our way home. Horrible experience. The ONLY redemption was that is was HH when while we were there. Waitress was the rudest, awful I have EVER experienced. And that is a fact. I really try not to write bad reviews on Yelp since I understand that we all have our bad days but this truly was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Sushi isn't very good either. (one of the rolls my bf ordered had SHREDDED crab on top - and by shredded I mean it looked exactly shredded cheddar cheese) like The cucumber salad & miso soup were decent and so was the tempura.
