We stumbled upon Osteria Vecchio Vicolo while we were looking for a restaurant for a late lunch. It is such a hidden gem in Florence! Everything that we ate here was so good that we came back multiple times! Our favorite dish was the Fagotti Cacio e Pere which was handmade fagotti stuffed with cheese and pears, in a pecorino cheese cream, crispy nuts, creamed red fruits, and Tuscany honey. The fagotti itself was so flavorful and the sauce was sooo decadent, sweet, and creamy. We are still dreaming of this pasta. The Pici in Rivolta was pici spaghetti that came in a sauce with slow-cooked braised beef, mushroom, onion, and olive oil. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth and the sauce was so rich. And last but not least the tiramisu was so good! We sampled so many different tiramisu while in Italy but this one was possibly our favorite one. Go check them out if you're in Florence! read more

Our second time visiting this restaurant from the US. It is by far our favorite in all of Italy (so far). For reference, we have visited Italy 4 times in the past 3 years and do not go to the tourist traps. We live in Dallas proper which has amazing restaurants and we do not eat at chains. My Wife and I had a fantastic dinner here! We had dinner reservations for this restaurant after enjoying the views at Piazzale Michelangelo. The restaurant was nicely decorated and well lit. Our servers were all friendly and lovely to talk to. For starters my wife and I ordered a fresh salad with smoked salmon and a grilled veggie dish with cheese. For our main entrees my wife ordered the Chitarra D'autore which was a delicious spaghetti spun in a cream of Parmesan sauce with black truffle, bacon and egg yolk cream. You should definitely try this! My order was I Pici Del Vicolo which was a Pici Spaghetti blanketed in a pecorino cheese sauce with porcini mushrooms, nutmeg and black truffle. For dessert we ordered an espresso with a lovely tiramisu. If you are close by the Ufizzi, we highly recommend you stop by here for dinner. read more

Food was succulent and delicious. The right balance of flavors and textures. La caprese was the perfect start and the pizza melted in your mouth. The service was warm and friendly. Immediately felt like we'd been visiting for years. The waiter was even kind enough to try and help us with our Vespa. It was under our impression that food was plentiful and enough to share. But something must of came over us with our hunger still not satisfied that we had ordered 1 more lobster pasta. Oh my goodness. The WHITE COW! We both chose the white cow and were more than satisfied. It was such a large portion and cooked to perfection. The meal came with some potatoes and bread and that was more than enough for us. Plus we wanted to walk around some more and grab a gelato out in town. Service was wonderful and they accommodated our stroller. Prices were a little higher than what we'd been spending (around $15-20 euros a person) but oh man is the food amazing!!! Wonderful little place several blocks off the ponte vecchio. I had pasta and meatballs and the meatballs were the best I ever had. My son and I were in Florence for two weeks and we went there three times. Not overly touristy which was somewhat surprising given the location. Good service and casual....they had laundry hanging from clothes lines in the main dining room as if they were drying ....real clothes but don't worry they did it for decorative effect. Ordered a cold cut on chopping board and a vongole pasta. Was rather disappointed by the vongole pasta. Pasta was overcooked and the sauce wasn't fantastic. The salamis and cheese isn't to my liking either but I think it could be me not getting used to the taste. After a LONG all day in Tuscany tour, we arrived back to our apartment in Florence pretty worn out, yet starving. A quick yelp search revealed this restaurant was about a 1.5 minute walk away from us and pretty good reviews, so I was sold. Honestly, this entire dinner is a bit of a blur to me due to exhaustion, all day drinking, and then drinking again during dinner (the wine is just so cheap you can't turn it down!) but I do remember the service here being some of the best on our trip overall. It was around this point on the trip that I started to miss vegetables, and salad, and decided to go against the grain and order a salad to start (seems like salads are supposed to be a side dish or later course, not a starter like I'm used to). My salad was obviously meant for sharing, and I did share a little, but for the most part I inhaled it and was pretty satisfied, so much so that I didn't even try my parents' starters lol. Next up, I went with the special seafood risotto after not really being able to pick anything. Again, very good, and even came with a little wet nap to wipe my fingers when I was finished picking through the seafood. This dish did come out EXTREMELY hot, so I did have to wait a bit for it to cool down. For a quick, affordable dinner in Florence I highly recommend this place. Atmosphere was casual, yet cute, so you won't feel under dressed if you're like us and just grabbing a bite in our day clothes. Serviceable. We were in a pinch for time and tried this place. Meatballs with eggplant dish was ordered - the plate was oozing with oil, well seasoned, seemed like the meatballs were at least a few days old. Reasonable price, wifi for those that need it. The restaurant is a few blocks from the Uffizi gallery, so it probably does not have to do much and still there will be a steady supply of tourists that will dine here as opposed to normal circumstances where so-so food leads to demise of restaurants. If there was a positive we didn't order much aside from the entree and bottle of water. So we did not have to endure "serviceable" food (barely) for more than one course. Hopefully this does not tip the scales on how I perceive the dining experience at Buca Mario's will be this evening where I have been recommended by several folks to consider dining there on the short list o solid traditional Tuscan fare (including my concierge at Palazzo Vecchieti). read more

Excellent service. Great location but not spoiled by it. Close but hidden. Pasta portions are not too big but then again you are supposed to have something before or after. And for that pastas are perfect. Carpaccios are great too and you should definitely try their tiramisu.... and that one thing with chocolate and olive oil. The one halfway decent dish was the pasta w sausage and truffle cream sauce. It shined in comparison to the gnocchi and the fettuccini w ragu. To start we ordered the orange and shrimp carpaccio. The orange slices were thick and the dish overall was imbalanced. We also had the fried squash blossoms, cheese, and zucchini balls. It was all heavily battered. We stepped into this place because it was literally the first open place we found. How Lucky were we? Answer: Very. 11 year old ordered a Margarite pizza - she ate the whole thing - that never happens. 14 year old ordered a fillet served with sliced tomatoes. Those were the freshest, ripest, best looking tomatoes I've ever seen. The steak was offered rare - and she took it as offered (which doesn't happen much). It came out looking gorgeous and she devoured it. My wife is vegetarian and ordered a ravioli special that she loved. I went with the paparadelli ragu - comfort food - and was not disappointed.
