My honey ordered the mixed fried fish. He ate every bite and loved it, especially the calamari. The side of bread was soft and perfect with my pasta. All the tables were full and people were waiting to be seated. This is a popular place, understandably. The ambience was calm, friendly, with multiple tables for two and several tables for four to five. The wait staff was attentive and spoke English, which helped us so much. Great meal in San Marco. Recommended by our hotel, which always gives me pause, it had strong yelp reviews so we decided to give it try. While it seemed to be mostly filled with tourists, there were also locals eating there. We arrived around 6 pm on the last night of carnival. It wasn't very busy but by 7pm most tables were full. We found it quaint and romantic. Staff were very nice, offering us English menus without having to ask and they had plenty of suggestions when we had questions. They have a wonderful wine list that is mostly by the bottle-but they so have a limited choice for by the glass- By all means get the bottle! I started with seared scallops which came slightly buried under thinly sliced seared squash, with plenty of butter that I dipped my house bread into. We followed this with lasagna and then a very tender steak with mushrooms. Both were very, very good and quite filling. We thought we were done after our grappa and tiramisu. However, we were not quite finished as we were offered their house limoncello. Perfect finish to a wonderful night. Approximately 150 euros for two and we left 5 euro for the wonderful service. read more

We found this wonderful restaurant while walking back to Dorsoduro area from St Marco's. We were delighted with the menu, we were hungry. What was so special was so many Italian local people here, too, obviously coming here so often and knowing the owner. Love to see and hear families coming here for a great meal, looks like celebrations. We came back another time, the waiter recognized us. Venice is absolutely filled with a ton of tourist traps. So finding a diamond in the rough that is priced reasonably with good food and good service is wonderful. Da Cherubino was a small restaurant with a traditional Italian menu. The interior was a bit dated but cute and clean and the food was tasty and served quickly. It's a bit hard to find so allow time and we also noticed that they take their lunch/dinner time gap seriously with parties being turned away - so take that into consideration with planning. read more

All around great experience. The staff and owner (?) were very friendly and accommodating. The food exceeded my expectations at a reasonable price. The branzino was perfectly cooked (soft, juicy) and came in a delicious sauce. The risotto was also perfectly done and tasted of truffle and oil. The tiramisu was delicious and seemed homemade. Sort of our last choice for a meal for two under 100 euro. We were before 7pm so we were seated quickly in the "extra" table at the front. Fine by me. One beer to choose from. Water in a bottle only but it was a big bottle. Bread with olive oil and Parmesan was nice and plenty of it. Pasta with tomato and mozzarella ended up being chef-boy-r-dee sauce with giant tubes of past and chunks of mozzarella (15 euro). Ok except for the CBRD sauce. The linguine with crab had tiny tomatoes in it (like I expected in the other dish) and a crab had walked by it at some point (15 euro). Just celebrated my 75th birthday at Da Cherubino. Perfetto falls short of describing the experience. I had the vegetable soup and Spaghetti Mama Mia. They were both delicious and was rendered speechless by the first and second birthday cakes. The second included staff rendition of Happy Birthday with a flaming sparkler. This place was absolutely amazing. Our favorite place we dined while on our 8 day vacation through Italy. The servers were very attentive and even allowed us to charge our phone while we dined. They also showed us pics of the flood a couple weeks prior and it was mind blowing to see the damage cleaned up so quickly. They also gave us limoncello shots after our meal. The food which is what drew us to this place. We ordered the soup which surprisingly was very tasty and a big enough portion for both of us to share as we waited for truffle scented risotto which requires 2 (or more people I believe) ordering the dish for it to be served. We ordered a bottle of champagne while we dined on the risotto and it was all amazing. The portion size of the risotto was pretty big and although I am not usually a rice or pasta kind of girl this dish was absolutely amazing. Everything from the scent to the flavor - perfection. First restaurant for our Italian escapade. We came here based on recommendation from our hotel. I settled for the spaghetti with seafood and the man of the house got himself SeaBass. The food were so good that I can't some making the sound of approval with every bite. They're so delicious! Large portion for the spaghetti so i only ate half of it. Nope, they will not ask you if you want to take it home. So no doggie bag here :) Excellent service from our waiter who knew right away that we're from California. This place didn't blow me away, but it was a good meal albeit a bit pricey. To be fair, it is not really off the beaten path, so I can't fully fault them on price. My impression could have been due to what I ordered? Besides that, service, speed, ambiance was okay (although I'd personally choose different music - that could easily change perception of price). Besides all that it checked many of our demands from the exterior: 1) No one standing in the doorway trying to pull us in; 2) Not right next to a square (it IS in a touristy area though); 3) No pictures of food; 4) I forgot the last one due to all the wine we had there. Would I go back? No. Was it worth it? I suppose. Should you go out of your way to eat here? No. Two other things to note... It seemed as if we had to order a side with one of our meals due to how the waitress presented it to us. So, we ordered something we didn't really want and they got an additional 7 euros out of us. We stumbled upon Da Cherubino as we were walking from Piazza San Marco with our two small kids. The staff was very warm and accommodating, especially with our children. We had several courses, beginning with the melanzane, which our kids ATE ALL OF, probably a first for them and eggplant. The other plates were equally delicious and the bottle of Franciacorta was excellent as well. Overall, a very wonderful and memorable dinner.
