First time going to Trattoria Toscana an Italian restaurant tucked away in Manchester . I must say I had a fabulous time , our waitress was amazing she got us everything we needed and checked on us constantly and was very sweet ! The ambiance was nice and cozy , good music playing in the background , not to loud and easy to have a conversation . To start off we got the Italian meatballs which were amazing highly recommend. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks which I loved the cheese pull was perfection and nice crunch on the outside , highly recommend as well . For my entre I got the NY strip . Served with mashed potatoes and green beans and topped with mushrooms and gorgonzola ! The sides were good but I really enjoyed my steak ! It was cooked medium rare , and the gorgonzola cheese on top was perfection ! I highly enjoyed it ! For dessert I got the tiramisu which was fantastic ( small portion) but very good ! If you read my last review, this one is deja vous two-and-a-half years later. Trattoria Toscana is Italian on steroids. We arrived at 5:30. No reservation, but were able to be seated. Busy place for a Wednesday evening. Our server, Autumn, was efficient, pleasant, and attentive. My friend and I split rollatinis, which were very good. She also had the veal parm (her go-to meal at TT). I went for Grandma Lena's Sunday Sauce. Don't tell my doctor, but we also had four Aperol Spritzes. My first time; very refreshing. Rolls arrived w a saucer of EVOO mixed w spices. Her VP covered the plate...a very generous portion. Side of penne. My dish reminded me of my sister's best friend, Honey's Sunday sauce. A smorgasbord of different meats and other ingredients slow-cooked all afternoon. There was sausage, braised short ribs, a meatball, etc over spaghetti in a marinara sauce w a dollop of ricotta on top. Both of us took leftovers home. A couple of other things to mention. On Wednesday evening, TT features live music. On this day, it was a singer / guitar player. While she was very good, it can get loud, especially if you're seated in close proximity. I was there in April 24th with 4 friends. We ordered our food after having a drink. Everyone's meal came except mine. I waited 10-15 minutes, still no food and no waitress. I finally got someone to check & apparently they forgot my order. Everyone at my table was waiting to eat until my food arrived. The waitress finally came by and apologized and said they would take my food off the bill. By then I was so annoyed, it ruined the evening. I'm back! This place has a LOT of tables! It looks like the Happy Hour menu (4-6 on weekdays) has changed, particularly the food. I like the old-style music (Sinatra, etc.) here. To start, I'm having a bottle of Pellegrino which is a sparkling natural mineral water bottled at San Pellegrino Terme in Bergamo, Italy. I love this stuff! For my first drink, I'm having the Italian Manhattan made with Rittenhouse Rye, Amaro, sweet vermouth and orange bitters. This is perfectly balanced and garnished. I love the large, square ice cube which slows the dilution process. Right off the bat, they serve you complementary bread and dipping sauce. I love the soft, buttery bread and the delicious dipping oil. Note also the carne mixed onions! For my first food item, I'm having the Stuffed Rigatoni made with ricotta, bolognese and Pomodoro sauce. These are good! Hot and tasty! I love the sauce! Nice garnish. For my next drink, I'm having the Margarita Kick Me Up which is made with Pepper Infused tequila, lime juice, orange and a Tajin rim. Tajín Clásico, often referred to as simply Tajín, is a Mexican spice mix consisting predominantly of lime, chili peppers and salt. For my next food item, I'm having the Chicken Skewer made with bacon and cherry peppers. Oh yeah! These are good! That sauce has a little kick to it! For my next food item, I'm having the Caesar Salad made with hearts of romaine lettuce, roasted garlic croutons and Romano cheese (light). His is quite good! They got it right! For my next drink, I'm having a Thorn To Be Wild made with Rose, Lillet, grapefruit juice and bubbles. This is quite good! It's light and refreshing! For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Giambotto made with chicken, Pop's Sausage, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, whipped potatoes and white wine butter sauce. Wow! This is a favorite spot for my husband and I. I think we first tried it about a year and a half ago on a whim and we've never had a bad experience. The service is stellar and I'm convinced there isn't a subpar dish on their menu. We went last night and had a delicious dinner- no appetizers last night but I'm in love with their bread with ricotta, goat cheese and honey drizzle and the meatballs especially. There Arancini is also great. I had the Pork Ragu with gnocchi and it was tender and delicious. My husband had the Chicken Giambotto and raved. That was at the suggestion of Bria- a great server who was attending to many tables but providing great service. You also can't go wrong with the chicken Parmesan or the Sunday Sauce pasta. Over the years I've seen this restaurant change names several times but haven't been while under the newest ownership. Close to home, we decided to visit TT for my grandparents anniversary celebration. There seemed to be a large party in the bar area so they tucked us away in a more private area which was nice to have for our small group. The decor was warm and comfortable. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She served us water and left a couple of bottles for our table. But if you know anything about the town of Manchester their water tastes horrible so my wife and I shared a bottle of Pellegrino. I also ordered a glass of red wine from an extensive selection. Complimentary bread for the table was good. My grandparents ordered a prosciutto app and it looked delicious! They loved it. My wife and I decided to share a Cesar salad for an app. We expected to have to split it up ourselves or share from the same bowl but we were pleasantly surprised when our server brought us the salad already divided up for us. Everyone's main courses came out at the same time except for mine. They brought me my side of pasta (included with my eggplant parm) so I ended up eating it before my meal since I was hungry. Not a big deal but a little disappointing I wasn't able to eat it together. Overall we had a nice time, everyone enjoyed their meals, and the prices were fair imo. This was my first time here and I was so impressed! First of all, it's quite beautiful inside. I love the light fixtures and the fairly dim warm light which provided an intimate ambiance. It's much larger than you can tell from the outside. Our server was a delight! She told us about the specials and recommended two dishes in particular- the scallops and I can't remember the other one. I asked about vegetarian options and she highly recommended the roasted brussels sprouts appetizer and the eggplant parm. My friend knew he was going to get the scallops and a glass of red wine so our server recommended a certain red they have to pair with the scallops. She brought out focaccia with a plate of seasoned dipping olive oil which we enjoyed. We ordered the roasted brussels sprouts as an appetizer. They arrived hot and crispy with Parmesan sprinkled on top. So delicious! Water was presented in cute mason jars but we didn't like the taste so we ordered a bottle of San Pellegrino to split. Our server brought out champagne glasses which made it extra special. My friend's wine arrived and he absolutely loved it. I ordered the eggplant parm with penne and he ordered the scallops. Both arrived as we were finishing up the appetizer. I loved the marinara in my entree. It tasted fresh and tomatoey. One of the best eggplant parms I've had in my life. My friend raved about his scallop dish which included brussels sprouts and eggplant. We declined dessert and our server boxed up the rest of my food quickly at the table. She took away our dishes efficiently and checked on us just enough during our meal. She brought out the check without us having to track her down. She's a pro- it's easy to tell. I wish I could remember her name! She also mentioned they have live music on Wednesdays and Fridays. We heard music coming from the adjacent dining area. As we were leaving, we noticed the crowd was getting quite loud which is fine but if you're wanting a quieter experience, earlier is likely better especially on Fridays. This was our first visit to the restaurant. It was busy on a Saturday night, and we can see why. The food was all very good. They say that they make most everything from scratch including some of the pastas. They bring house-made focaccia bread with seasoned oil. Yum! We shared a beet salad with house made ricotta goat cheese that was creamy and tasty. They split the salad for us, and we still each had a decent portion. My wife had the salmon special with a tangy chili sauce. It had a nice flavor and was served with asparagus and a sweet potato (I think) mash. I had. Chicken dish that comes with roasted potatoes, but the waitress asked if I wanted to try one of the house-made pastas. That was a great suggestion, and I ordered it with the tagliatelle, which was very good. Sometimes on these Italian chicken sautéed dinners I find the sauce underwhelming, but I thought the sauce was flavorful. It was also served hot, which I appreciated. It probably had about 6-8 oz of chicken, so it was a decent portion. My wife and I were quite full. Another thing I liked about the place is that it is clearly owner-operated. You can see that the manager/chef and/or owner walking around and speaking with guests. One jumped in when our waitress needed a break for family reasons. When chatting with her later, it was clear that she liked working there and that they tray their staff well. I also thought it was fairly priced, with most entrees priced under $30. When I lived in Manchester years ago, TT used to be a different Italian restaurant. Friends recommended TT for Saturday night dinner and I was curious to see how it's changed. There are still four sets of parallel dining areas, but the decor has been updated and looks nice. Lots of wood. The menu is traditional Italian American. Veal or chicken parm, marsala, Francaise or piccata. Pasta with Bolognese, Sunday, Vodka or shrimp fra diavolo sauce. Etc. Both the restaurant and the parking lot were crowded, but we were seated at our reservation time. Service was fine, but not a selling point. There were some longer than expected absences, and engagement was a little perfunctory, but polite. With most entrees priced in the $20's, and some flashes into the $30's, I expect a bit stronger service. My thin spaghetti with Sunday Sauce was good, not great. It could have been saucier. Also, I've recently adopted a "would I rather have this sauce or jarred Rao's sauce" standard. The sauce was pretty good, but I would have preferred Rao's. The short rib was tender and well executed. The meatball wasn't turned often enough and had an overly dark exterior section, but otherwise was good. The ricotta was nice. I also ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail and Death by Chocolate Cake slice with raspberry sorbet. I don't know this, but I suspect the cake was made off site and then jazzed up in house. The slice was big and tasty. The Old Fashioned was decent, but didn't pop relative to other spots I've tried recently. Given other closer options, I wouldn't rush back to TT, but it would be a good option if you're looking for traditional Italian American in that area. 3.5 Stars read more

Came here to enjoy a family dinner to celebrate our grandparents anniversary. We had a great waitress she was very kind and had great suggestions when it came to decide on what to eat. I ordered the caesar salad and split it with my husband. They automatically put it in 2 bowls for us. It was a good salad and the croutons tasted like it was made in house. We received complimentary bread with dipping oil. The bread was a little underdone but rather have that problem than over cooked bread. As my main course I ordered the salmon dish because I wasn't very hungry. The dish had great flavor and loved the roasted garlic. The only thing I didn't like about the dish was the amount of oil was used. My husband got the eggplant parm. He received his pasta before his eggplant parm came out. So he couldn't enjoy it together. I was very surprised how good it was. Most eggplant Parma can be heavy, greasy but not here. I was surprised by this place and if someone suggests to come here for dinner I would say yes. read more

Plenty of seating here with 3 different sections in addition to the bar. Our server Julia was patient and took good care of us even though she was really busy. Actually, the whole staff was very pleasant. The only thing we didn't like was our appetizer, the eggplant fries. They were overcooked and didn't have much flavor. But someone else ordered the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella and said it was amazing. The Francaise Chicken was extremely tender lemony goodness! But I would have preferred pasta instead of the roasted potatoes the meal came with. Grandma Lena's Sunday Sauce was a big hit at our table and came with a generous amount of meat with the spaghetti - short ribs, sausage and meatball. A higher end dining experience with a couple technical flaws. A gem in the rough, that needs just a little more polish. On our date night and decided to give this place another try. Been to this place before, was very expensive pasta for a random area in Manchester. But the girlfriend had never been, so I wanted to let her experience the locale. Since my last visit, they've really upped their game! They put some wood vynal down, covering the checkerboard floor. They put up a lot of mirrors to extend the dining space, and the decor is modern but not obnoxious. So that's an upgrade Servers are friendly, hostess was quick to get us seated and we got water and seasoned oil with bread right away. Food wise, it's well executed and portioned appropriate for the price. The taste is good, the pasta can be a little aldente for my personal preference, but the fresh pasta they do make comes out well and they know how to season and balance flavors. (not all the pasta is fresh, but the dried stuff is a good quality) The issue I have is with the specials menu. I have had 3 specials from them, and each one feels like the experimental batches. Like the head chef builds out some unique dish, gives it to his staff via email, and then they have to scramble to make it. The ideas are there, the flavors are there, but there's always something off about it. Take the orecchiette pasta. Pasta was fresh, had a very light citusy and wine sauce it was paired with, and the meat was a heavily smoked braised pork. Everything tasted good, but the sauce and the pasta were very overpowered with an aggressively smoked pork. With a red sauce, something heavier to help combat the smoke and enrichen the meat, probably wouldve been a better bite I think. Their standard fare is honed, and we were pleased with the meatballs, mussels (not sure why it has sausage, but the sausage is good) and the cioppino. But I would be a bit leery at trying other specials. Only other gripe is that it is a date night space so it's pricy. But the quality is awesome and the food tastes great. Also traffic can be tough during the summer months with the only ice cream stop in that part of town only a few doors away. Not in their control though If you stick to the standard menu, there's a lot to like here. Worth a shot if you're in the area and looking for a special place to take someone. read more

Absolutely terrible experience with the host staff at TT's. There was a mix-up with our reservation, and instead of handling it professionally, the hostess became rude and argumentative, insisting we never made a reservation--even though she was the one who had taken our name and number. When I asked why she took our information if no reservation was made, she had no answer and instead rolled her eyes and made snarky, rude comments. She showed us the paper with our name and number and said we never said we actually wanted a reservation. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak to a manager, she laughed and rolled her eyes. There was a crowded lobby of guests waiting for tables and she continued this unprofessional behavior. When the manager arrived, she continued arguing with me in front of the manager. He actually raised his voice and asked her repeatedly to stop and go in the back. To the manager's credit, he apologized sincerely and attempted to seat us, but by that point, the experience had already been ruined. No guest should have to deal with that level of rudeness to have a meal. It's truly sad because the food at TT's is great. It's more of a higher-end restaurant where I've spent plenty of money in the past, but this encounter left such a horrible and unsatisfying experience that I will never go back. After leaving, we had to find somewhere quick to eat since it was late. We ended up at Maggie McFly's in Glastonbury, and the difference in service was night and day. The hostesses there were amazing--it's clear they are trained much better and actually understand hospitality. There are plenty of restaurants in the area of the same caliber as TT's, but I truly believe in great service along with quality food for my dining experience. But that allows for all types of customers, fancy Date night or throw on a tee and want some great Italian food. Either way you are treated the same. However... Amazing food!!! Staff is friendly and attentive, restaurant is welcoming and clean. We have been a couple times, each time we have ordered one thing off the specials menu. The special menu is definitely the chef trying stuff out... bc it doesn't really work. But the regular menu is amazing delicious!!! This time We ordered the Cioppino and shared, the kitchen even split it for us (we are not the only ones, lol) the sauce was delicious and the seafood abundant and cooked well. This restaurant used to be my 'go to' because the food was very good and nice atmosphere. I recently took a friend and laid down $170 (before tip) on apps drinks and dinner. But from the get-go, we received a very cold shoulder when we checked in for my reservation. A young girl at the desk would not take her eyes off of her tablet to welcome us. I even had to ask her if there was a problem. She clearly had to finish sending her text before acknowledging us and seating at our table. That was the first turn off. And then our waitress - who must of been having a bad evening - made us feel as though she was doing us a favor by going to the restaurant. Both people in my party felt the same vibe. She didn't look very happy and sort of took it out on us - or so it felt. The food was decent, but if you ask me, it seems to be declining. I ordered the fluke served in a piccata sauce but it was very greasy. My dinner plate was swimming in grease. I think I will be heading back to Cafe Aura. Too bad... I can handle the food being 'off' once in a while but IMO their staff sb more friendly and accommodating. read more

For our first visit, we were welcomed by our server Taylor who told us a bit about the offerings which helped us make our choices. Grandma Lena's Sunday Sauce was a meat lover's dream for the Mr. It had short rib meat so tender, crumbled sausage with a bit of heat (as Taylor promised), a big soft meatball, spaghetti and red sauce with some whipped ricotta. Homemade bread for the table. My Rigatoni Bolognese with meaty red sauce and creamy rich whipped ricotta was absolutely delicious and i have some left for tomorrow. We finished off by sharing a vanilla creme Brule and the custard did not disappoint. We stopped just short of licking the bowl. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a great delivery experience! The food came hot which I really appreciated. The flavors were soooo good and it made me wish I was eating at the restaurant! The short rib Ragu was so tender and flavorful, if melted in your mouth! We also had the mozzarella which was good but would have been better without the sauce in it, it was mushy by time it arrived I'm sure much better dining in!
