    Grandma Lena's Sunday sauce. 5/6/25
    Rich B.

If you read my last review, this one is deja vous two-and-a-half years later. Trattoria Toscana is Italian on steroids. We arrived at 5:30. No reservation, but were able to be seated. Busy place for a Wednesday evening. Our server, Autumn, was efficient, pleasant, and attentive. My friend and I split rollatinis, which were very good. She also had the veal parm (her go-to meal at TT). I went for Grandma Lena's Sunday Sauce. Don't tell my doctor, but we also had four Aperol Spritzes. My first time; very refreshing. Rolls arrived w a saucer of EVOO mixed w spices. Her VP covered the plate...a very generous portion. Side of penne. My dish reminded me of my sister's best friend, Honey's Sunday sauce. A smorgasbord of different meats and other ingredients slow-cooked all afternoon. There was sausage, braised short ribs, a meatball, etc over spaghetti in a marinara sauce w a dollop of ricotta on top. Both of us took leftovers home. A couple of other things to mention. On Wednesday evening, TT features live music. On this day, it was a singer / guitar player. While she was very good, it can get loud, especially if you're seated in close proximity. Also, entrees took a bit longer to arrive. Maybe because of the crowd? Anyway, food was awesome, drinks potent. A relaxing way to spend an evening. 5 stars

The highlight of our third visit to this great restaurant was Mackenzie our waitress. She was friendly and helpful even getting me more sauce when my serving looked like mostly pasta. We all enjoyed the specials of the day and the attentive care of the entire staff.

The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly, and welcoming. Relaxed and cozy atmosphere, and clean facilities. The food was fresh and amazing, good portions and great prices.

I'm back! This place has a LOT of tables! It looks like the Happy Hour menu (4-6 on weekdays) has changed, particularly the food. I like the old-style music (Sinatra, etc.) here. To start, I'm having a bottle of Pellegrino which is a sparkling natural mineral water bottled at San Pellegrino Terme in Bergamo, Italy. I love this stuff! For my first drink, I'm having the Italian Manhattan made with Rittenhouse Rye, Amaro, sweet vermouth and orange bitters. This is perfectly balanced and garnished. I love the large, square ice cube which slows the dilution process. Right off the bat, they serve you complementary bread and dipping sauce. I love the soft, buttery bread and the delicious dipping oil. Note also the carne mixed onions! For my first food item, I'm having the Stuffed Rigatoni made with ricotta, bolognese and Pomodoro sauce. These are good! Hot and tasty! I love the sauce! Nice garnish. For my next drink, I'm having the Margarita Kick Me Up which is made with Pepper Infused tequila, lime juice, orange and a Tajin rim. Tajín Clásico, often referred to as simply Tajín, is a Mexican spice mix consisting predominantly of lime, chili peppers and salt. For my next food item, I'm having the Chicken Skewer made with bacon and cherry peppers. Oh yeah! These are good! That sauce has a little kick to it! For my next food item, I'm having the Caesar Salad made with hearts of romaine lettuce, roasted garlic croutons and Romano cheese (light). His is quite good! They got it right! For my next drink, I'm having a Thorn To Be Wild made with Rose, Lillet, grapefruit juice and bubbles. This is quite good! It's light and refreshing! For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Giambotto made with chicken, Pop's Sausage, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, whipped potatoes and white wine butter sauce. Wow! This is my first time having this. This is good! For dessert, I'm having the Nutella Cheesecake with Oreo Cookie crumble and chocolate sauce. Oh my God! This is good! What a great meal here!

Over the years I've seen this restaurant change names several times but haven't been while under the newest ownership. Close to home, we decided to visit TT for my grandparents anniversary celebration. There seemed to be a large party in the bar area so they tucked us away in a more private area which was nice to have for our small group. The decor was warm and comfortable. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She served us water and left a couple of bottles for our table. But if you know anything about the town of Manchester their water tastes horrible so my wife and I shared a bottle of Pellegrino. I also ordered a glass of red wine from an extensive selection. Complimentary bread for the table was good. My grandparents ordered a prosciutto app and it looked delicious! They loved it. My wife and I decided to share a Cesar salad for an app. We expected to have to split it up ourselves or share from the same bowl but we were pleasantly surprised when our server brought us the salad already divided up for us. Everyone's main courses came out at the same time except for mine. They brought me my side of pasta (included with my eggplant parm) so I ended up eating it before my meal since I was hungry. Not a big deal but a little disappointing I wasn't able to eat it together. Overall we had a nice time, everyone enjoyed their meals, and the prices were fair imo. Still, nothing stood out as exceptional so I would return if someone suggested going but I probably won't go out of my way to return on my own.

This was my first time here and I was so impressed! First of all, it's quite beautiful inside. I love the light fixtures and the fairly dim warm light which provided an intimate ambiance. It's much larger than you can tell from the outside. Our server was a delight! She told us about the specials and recommended two dishes in particular- the scallops and I can't remember the other one. I asked about vegetarian options and she highly recommended the roasted brussels sprouts appetizer and the eggplant parm. My friend knew he was going to get the scallops and a glass of red wine so our server recommended a certain red they have to pair with the scallops. She brought out focaccia with a plate of seasoned dipping olive oil which we enjoyed. We ordered the roasted brussels sprouts as an appetizer. They arrived hot and crispy with Parmesan sprinkled on top. So delicious! Water was presented in cute mason jars but we didn't like the taste so we ordered a bottle of San Pellegrino to split. Our server brought out champagne glasses which made it extra special. My friend's wine arrived and he absolutely loved it. I ordered the eggplant parm with penne and he ordered the scallops. Both arrived as we were finishing up the appetizer. I loved the marinara in my entree. It tasted fresh and tomatoey. One of the best eggplant parms I've had in my life. My friend raved about his scallop dish which included brussels sprouts and eggplant. We declined dessert and our server boxed up the rest of my food quickly at the table. She took away our dishes efficiently and checked on us just enough during our meal. She brought out the check without us having to track her down. She's a pro- it's easy to tell. I wish I could remember her name! She also mentioned they have live music on Wednesdays and Fridays. We heard music coming from the adjacent dining area. As we were leaving, we noticed the crowd was getting quite loud which is fine but if you're wanting a quieter experience, earlier is likely better especially on Fridays. I was so impressed with this whole experience and will be recommending this restaurant to others for sure. I can't wait to return!

We had an exceptional experience at Trattoria Toscana and it's all thanks to our amazing bartender, Breanna! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome with her friendly demeanor and impeccable service. Not only did Breanna craft some of the best cocktails we've ever had, she recommended a cocktail that was perfection!! Along w managing the entire bar solo, we enjoyed a delicious dinner with great care and attention to detail. Every recommendation Breanna made was spot-on, and her knowledge of both the drink and food menu was impressive. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, and it was clear that Breanna played a big part in creating that. Served us with a smile even at the busiest of times while what appeared to be under close watch. Management should really consider complimenting their top performers.. before coaching in the moment. Your customers can see and hear tons!!! Thank you, Breanna for making our Friday night easy and memorable. We can't wait to come back and experience your fantastic service again! Keep up the Amazing work!!

    Beet Salad (half)

This was our first visit to the restaurant. It was busy on a Saturday night, and we can see why. The food was all very good. They say that they make most everything from scratch including some of the pastas. They bring house-made focaccia bread with seasoned oil. Yum! We shared a beet salad with house made ricotta goat cheese that was creamy and tasty. They split the salad for us, and we still each had a decent portion. My wife had the salmon special with a tangy chili sauce. It had a nice flavor and was served with asparagus and a sweet potato (I think) mash. I had. Chicken dish that comes with roasted potatoes, but the waitress asked if I wanted to try one of the house-made pastas. That was a great suggestion, and I ordered it with the tagliatelle, which was very good. Sometimes on these Italian chicken sautéed dinners I find the sauce underwhelming, but I thought the sauce was flavorful. It was also served hot, which I appreciated. It probably had about 6-8 oz of chicken, so it was a decent portion. My wife and I were quite full. Another thing I liked about the place is that it is clearly owner-operated. You can see that the manager/chef and/or owner walking around and speaking with guests. One jumped in when our waitress needed a break for family reasons. When chatting with her later, it was clear that she liked working there and that they tray their staff well. I also thought it was fairly priced, with most entrees priced under $30. We will definitely be going back!

Trattoria Toscana has great food, great people, and a great location. The new general manager, Cam, cares so much about making sure diners have a fantastic experience. We love the espresso martinis, happy hour specials and chicken Milanese! We come here nearly once a week we enjoy it so much.

When I lived in Manchester years ago, TT used to be a different Italian restaurant. Friends recommended TT for Saturday night dinner and I was curious to see how it's changed. There are still four sets of parallel dining areas, but the decor has been updated and looks nice. Lots of wood. The menu is traditional Italian American. Veal or chicken parm, marsala, Francaise or piccata. Pasta with Bolognese, Sunday, Vodka or shrimp fra diavolo sauce. Etc. Both the restaurant and the parking lot were crowded, but we were seated at our reservation time. Service was fine, but not a selling point. There were some longer than expected absences, and engagement was a little perfunctory, but polite. With most entrees priced in the $20's, and some flashes into the $30's, I expect a bit stronger service. My thin spaghetti with Sunday Sauce was good, not great. It could have been saucier. Also, I've recently adopted a "would I rather have this sauce or jarred Rao's sauce" standard. The sauce was pretty good, but I would have preferred Rao's. The short rib was tender and well executed. The meatball wasn't turned often enough and had an overly dark exterior section, but otherwise was good. The ricotta was nice. I also ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail and Death by Chocolate Cake slice with raspberry sorbet. I don't know this, but I suspect the cake was made off site and then jazzed up in house. The slice was big and tasty. The Old Fashioned was decent, but didn't pop relative to other spots I've tried recently. Given other closer options, I wouldn't rush back to TT, but it would be a good option if you're looking for traditional Italian American in that area. 3.5 Stars

They all seem to add a bit of class. For my first drink, I'm am having a Cosmopolitan. A Cosmopolitan (or Cosmo) is a popular pink cocktail made with vodka, triple sec (or Cointreau), cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice, typically shaken and served in a martini glass. It's known for its tart, fruity, and slightly sweet flavor profile, often garnished with an orange twist. While served in a martini glass, it's not a true martini as it lacks vermouth. The drink has nice presentation, chilled, garnished and well-balanced. For my first food item, I'm having a Chef's Salad. A chef salad is a hearty American main-course salad with a base of lettuce topped with various ingredients like hard-boiled eggs, one or more meats (such as ham, turkey, or chicken), cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers, often with croutons and a vinaigrette or ranch dressing. I am having vinaigrette for my dressing. Oh yeah! Nice restating! This is good! I see romaine lettuce, olives, eggs, turkey, ham, canned green and red peppers, pepperoni, cheese, picked onions, cucumbers, etc. It's a big portion size for $7! For my next food item, I'm having the (1/2 lb) Mussels. Mussels are a popular, sustainable, and nutritious seafood known for their briny flavor, often served steamed in broth with wine, garlic, and herbs, and paired with crusty bread. They are filter feeders, rich in protein, omega-3s, and vitamin B12, and are farmed responsibly, making them an environmentally friendly choice that improves water quality. These are good you. They are hot. I like the grilled, buttered bread. Make sure to squeeze the lemon on top. This is the "red" inversion (white is an option). These are good! I love this broth! For my next food item, I'm having the Bogner's Chili Cheese Dog. Bogner Quality Meats in Manchester, CT, offers a selection of premium, house-made hot dogs and franks, featuring all-beef skinless, natural casing, and kielbasa dogs. Known for high-quality meats since 1942, they also offer bulk 5 lb packages, perfect for grilling, along with a full service butcher counter. I only get to eat this kind twice a year! This is all beef and locally made. What's better than this?! This is great!!! Love that pickle and those thick kettle chips! For my second drink, I'm having a margarita. A Margarita is a classic cocktail made with tequila, orange liqueur (like Cointreau or triple sec), and lime juice, often served in a salt-rimmed glass with a lime wedge garnish. It can be served shaken and "on the rocks" (with ice), blended with ice, or straight up, and variations include different tequilas (like reposado) or sweeteners like agave syrup. No margarita glass or sake/sugar rim but it is nicely garnished and tastes good. The floating orange is odd. Still, it's quite good! For my next food item, I'm having the Geno's Meatballs. Gino D'Acampo's traditional meatball recipe features a mix of minced pork and beef, soaked bread, egg, pecorino cheese, and parsley, typically simmered in a simple tomato sauce. For best results, brown the meatballs in olive oil, then simmer slowly for at least 30 minutes to two hours for a rich flavor. I like the cheese strips on top. Lots of sauce! These taste great! For my last drink, I'm having a Vodka Mule. A Moscow Mule is a refreshing, vodka-based cocktail made with lime juice and spicy ginger beer, traditionally served in a copper mug which keeps it extra cold. To make one, combine vodka, fresh lime juice, and ice in a mug, then top with chilled ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge or wheel. It's a simple, no-shaker-needed drink that's popular for its balance of spicy, sweet, and tart flavors. I like the copper mug! It's chilled, nicely garnished and well balanced. For my last item, I've been dying to try the Special- a bork of Legume Soup. Lentil soup is a hearty, nutritious soup made with lentils as the main ingredient, often featuring a base of sautéed onions, carrots, and garlic, simmered in broth with spices like cumin and turmeric, and finished with fresh herbs and lemon juice. It's a staple in many cultures, known for being filling, economical, and rich in protein and fiber, with variations using different lentils (red, green, brown) and additions like kale, potatoes, or pasta. I like the cute, little crock pot. These are good crackers. It's nice and hot. It came out fast too! For my last item, I'm having the Southwest Chicken Eggrolls. I've never tired these here!Southwest egg rolls are crispy, deep-fried appetizers typically filled with shredded chicken, black beans, corn, red bell peppers, spinach, and Monterey Jack cheese. Let's see what comes out! There are fantastic! They're hot and delicious! What a great meal here!

Also ordered a mocktail of a basil lemonade. The drink was not too sweet and the basil added a tiny touch of herby savoryness which was a nice accent flavor. The full English breakfast was cooked well, good quality ingredients and each element was seasoned appropriately. I could only make a small dent in the dish before sending it back satisfied. The server was friendly, but I threw them off with my quirky behavior. Lead to a little slower service and multiple requests for some items. Nothing against the establishment, just something that happened during my visit. Still a strong recommendation for Main Street, and worth a trek to try.

It's nice and hot.,What a rare treat! This is hard to find anywhere! I'm also having a side of cold slaw. Coleslaw, or "slaw" in North America, is a side dish of shredded cabbage with a vinaigrette or mayo-based dressing. The word "coleslaw" comes from the Dutch term koolsla, meaning "cabbage salad". Recipes vary by region and can include additional ingredients like carrots, apples, raisins, or celery. Coleslaw originated in the Netherlands in the 18th century, but references to similar cabbage salads appear in ancient Greek and Roman medical texts. This is the best! Nice, thick dressing! For my last drink, I'm having a Godfather. The Godfather is a sweet and strong cocktail that blends Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur. It's typically served in an old-fashioned glass over ice and can be garnished with an orange twist. The drink became popular in the 1970s disco scene and is named after the 1972 film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Some say bartender Joe Scialom created the Godfather to capture the movie's spirit. This is done just right! Good job! What a great meal here!

Filthy Black Cherries are premium, all-natural Italian Amarena cherries, slow-cooked in copper pots and widely recognized as a top-tier garnish for whiskey and tequila cocktails, such as Old Fashioneds and Manhattans. Known for a sweet-tart flavor profile, they are a favorite among professional bartenders for their firm texture and rich syrup. The Manhattan is a classic, spirit-forward cocktail made with whiskey (traditionally rye), sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters, stirred with ice and strained into a chilled glass, typically garnished with a maraschino cherry or a lemon twist. It's known for being strong, sophisticated, and balanced, with a mix of spicy, sweet, and bitter notes. This is real good. It is nicely garnished and perfectly balanced. I think the bartender is the owner. For out first appetizer, we are getting the Fornarelli's Meatballs. These are these of their "famous" meatballs made with their signature marinara sauce with fresh basil and mozzarella. These are good! Wow! We are next getting the Onion Rings which are their signature house-made onion rings fried golden brown with chipotle aioli. Yep. These are good! I like the sauce! For our third appetizer, we are getting the Sicilian Calamari which is fresh calamari and hot cherry peppers fried with their signature marinara sauce. These are tasty! I love the sauce! Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having the Pearly Old Fashioned made with Maker's Mark, filthy cherries, Cara Cara orange, raw sugar and Angostura bitters. Oh yeah! This is well garnished and perfectly balanced. For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Piccata made with chicken breast sautéed with artichokes and capers in a white wine sauce and chefs choice of starch and veggies. This is delicious! I love the sauce! For dessert, I'm having the Nonna's Tiramisu. This is their authentic tiramisu recipe just like Nonna used to make! We are also getting the Covonut Gelato Truffle made with coconut gelato, mango sorbet center enrobed by chocolate and coconut flakes. This is the biggest chunk of tiramisu I've ever had! What a great meal here!

From the moment we arrived, the front desk area felt disorganized and overcrowded. The young hostesses were not very welcoming and didn't greet guests with a smile or provide direction on where to stand or wait, which made the entrance experience awkward and chaotic. There is no bathroom downstairs so you would have to go upstairs for the restrooms The restaurant was offering a $70 prefix menu, which honestly did not feel worth the cost. For that price, you only received soup or salad, an entrée, and dessert. I really think an appetizer should have been included considering the price point, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day. We were seated downstairs near the kitchen, and it was extremely warm and uncomfortable down there during the meal. On a positive note, the service itself was fairly quick, and our waiter was very attentive and friendly, which was appreciated. Overall though, the atmosphere, organization, and value for the money left us disappointed. This did not include drinks and automatic gratuity was included in the bill since we had a party of 6.

It's def one of our mother daughter special spots. I'm on a mission to try everything on the menu at least once and I was told the Crispy Chicken cutlet was a crowd favorite and it's safe to say I agree and I could not stop talking about it last night. It's made with two chicken cutlets crisp to perfection giving you that nice crunch with each bite. Inside you've got flavors of peperonata, fresh mozz, smeared pesto aioli , arugula on a thick ciabatta roll. It's a mix of comfort and quality all in one. I really enjoyed the mix of all the vibrant flavors here. Pair it with their sweet potato fries and you got yourself a real deal of a meal! My mom got the Handformed burger cooked medium on a brioche bun . It consists half-pound patty, bacon, white cheddar, lettuce, pepper mayo, She said it was one of the best burgers she's had in a long time and she's a harsh critic so that says a lot. She also enjoys the sweet potatoe fries here as well . Ps every Wednesday is Wine night which is 1/2 price bottle of any wine of your choosing . We showed up not knowing that and we may just make it a Wednesday tradition "Wine down Wednesday" :) Our server Lauren was excellent , it was a packed house and you can def see they have quite a few regulars myself included. It makes you feel like it's the friendly neighborhood restaurant!
