I decided to get a whole one to make sure I'd have half a sandwich for leftovers the next day. I couldn't believe how big the sandwich was when it arrived. I ended up cutting one half into 3 sections and couldn't even finish all 3 of them. It doesn't come with any sides, but how could you possibly have room to eat any sides?? Early dinner at Joey Garlics before a movie never disappoints. On movie nights, our norm is that we split a salad (the small is quite sufficient for 2 people), and split an order of eggplant fries (also - small). Other times we dine there & get a regular entree, know that portions are large. You will be going home with leftovers. And the food is really good. Pizza is good too (though I am not a fan of their Detroit Style pizza, having had Detroit pizza many times in Detroit). Eggplant fries are sooooo good. Served with marinara & dusted with Parmesan, perfection. I've tried eggplant fries other places & none compare to these. Even if you don't like eggplant (like my husband), TRY them. Our server was really nice and brought refills on sodas without us even asking. The restaurant is part of a local chain I think. It's pretty large, clean, and decorated with some neat touches - brick wall, industrial ceiling, reclaimed wood here & there. There's a decent sized bar area too. Normally eat at the Newington location and always enjoy the food. On 5/27 we met a friend at the Manchester location and were very disappointed. The difference in the quality of the food was incredible and very disappointing. We both ordered salads and the difference between the same salads in Newington and Manchester was amazing. I went with a my go-to combo of onion, tomato, lettuce, american cheese, mayo, and ketchup. Perfection. I never had a take-out burger taste so good and not get soggy on the ride home. I recently visited Joey Garlic's and was blown away by the huge portions and amazing flavors in every bite. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sub with Alla Vodka sauce -- absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. I also tried the Crazy Alfredo with fried shrimp, which I think is a total life hack; the crispy shrimp paired perfectly with the creamy Alfredo. Their portions are seriously generous, making it great value for the price. That said, I did come here last week and had a less impressive meal -- the Carbonara was bland, and it seemed like the egg sauce split. The Caesar salad that day was also dry. But today's salad was fresh and flavorful, so I'm thinking maybe it was just an off day before. Given the consistency and portion size, I'm leaning towards a 4-star rating -- great food and value, with just the occasional hiccup. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Absolutely the WORST Eggplant Parm Grinder I've EVER had. So bad, I threw 1/2 in the garbage. Dry as a bone with hardly any sauce on it (see pics) and the eggplant was undercooked. Terrible. Online order menu doesn't offer an "extra sauce" option and the special instructions section says "this restaurant doesn't accept special instructions". Why not??? Sat in the bar area to have a little more quiet. Server was great and very attentive, asked for Blue Moon and they didn't have it so she recommended Alagash White. It was a bit too IPA-y for my liking so I asked for the Shipyard Pumpkin Ale and it was a hit! Had a cinnamon sugar rim along with it. Delicious! The few issues we had the entrees came out before the starters which was weird but that was comped for us. Our drinks tasted like all mixers and no alcohol even the margaritas, I couldn't tell if there was tequila in it or not, which was sent back to me remade, feels like they are being stingy on the liquor. The second issue was that it was a Saturday night and they closed at 9:30pm which I was amazed for a chain restaurant to close that early especially when you have a bar. The good: The portions are huge!!! A large pizza can feed at least 4-5, we skipped lunch and only had breakfast and some members of our party got pasta and couldn't finish it. Definitely a place you bring left overs home due to the sheer size of the dishes and pizzas. The apps are also huge a large is. It needed unless your group is bigger than 4 especially if your getting an entree you will not eat it all. The No touch "will bring your order/pizza to your car" thing does not work here...even when the wait staff is just sitting and chit chatting. 2. We recently ordered some catering trays from here for family members birthday. When I went to pick it up, I chose the option for them to bring it to the car. However, you cannot calling you have to send a text message to a phone number... this did not work even though I sent the text message a couple times I ended up having to call him, but couldn't get anybody. So end up having to call in a second time. I really respect the way that their system works, but they should definitely check for inconsistencies. The chicken piccata was very good, however, the chicken Parm was overcooked to the point where it was chewy and hard to eat. The pasta was delicious, however, very oily. Our family really enjoys the food here however, this was not one of our better experiences. We would definitely come back... I undermined Joey's. Maybe because this place is located in a plaza. But after 2 or so hours on the road from NY, stretching our legs and eating something quick, was needed. And in the end, it served us right. They take every COVID precaution possible. Even if you aren't sitting in a booth like we were, regular table seating is entirely spaced from the next table. Cocktail menu has very nice options and I settled for the 'Pumpkin Spice' Cocktail that was every bit Autumn. Maybe I shouldn't have judged a book by its cover, but my drink knocked me down. Hubs liked the taste in his Chicken Piccata but his only complaint was a lot of extra watery mess. Our Parmesan Cheese and Garlic powder-topped Mozzarella Sticks were gooey and so good- as were the requested light on the Buffalo Sauce Cauliflower Bites. Forget that Joey Garlic's looks like it's in a strip mall-ish. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, broccoli and peppers and she had chicken parmigiana. We shared French fries as an appy. The order of fries were huge! They came out piping hot (+1) with a small cup of ketchup and were very good. My Alfredo was excellent but the shrimp were not my favorite. On the small side and tasted too fishy. I have been going to Joey Garlic for many years. I used to go to the Farmington one, now happy to see there is one in Manchester. Old fashioned garlic bread and eggplant fries are my favorite appetizers. I love their buffalo chicken pizza. This time I went for Chicken presto penne. It was good as well. Their quantities are huge. I had it for dinner, and 2 more days of lunch. For drinks, I went for pomegranate milk shake. Pomegranate flavor was not strong enough. Banana milk shake is my favorite flavor though. They will be happy to mix more than 1 flavor in milk shake. This is my new go to pizza place in the area! The regular pizza is pretty good but oh myyyyyy the Detroit style here is amazing. The crispy cheese on the crust is EVERYTHING! We've been a big fan of the BBQ chicken Detroit style pizza here lately. We ordered a bunch of pizzas and this was the fan favorite. We were all fighting for the last slice.
