I am older and handicapped, and got confused when I took my ticket out of…read morethe machine I had put it in the machine two seats over and thought I had left it and didn't cash it out.Someone sat in the seat I went to.So I asked everyone in the circle if they had my ticket when they sat down and everyone said no.So I called for service and wouldn't leave the seat of my original machine.Tony the technician was wonderful. Said I had cashed it out I said, but I don't have it. I was very confused. I knew the exact amount of it told them you could go through my purse. I don't have it and couldn't remember what happened to it so he contacted the manager who went over. The tapes told me exactly what had happened and that when I put my ticket in the machine after cashing it out and came back to look for it. Someone was dishonest and used the money. I was jjust sick about it. The manager today was wonderful. He knew I was telling the truth and he knew who used my ticket he gave me my money back, which was so nice of him and told me from now on to be very careful which I am now I love to gamble and will continue to come to MGM Detroit because this manager today went above and beyond helping me and someone needs to recognize him. He is an asset to your company.

I couldn't control the heat for some reason, but it did stay at a comfortable level. While there are not a lot of food options here, I gave The Tap and D.Prime a spin. Tap isn't anything to write home about as far as food that I was able to eat there, but my friend did enjoy the salmon. D.Prime is great - I highly recommend the corn!! The coffee spot does what it does - the best thing is that it's open 24 hours and they have a nice variety of pastries and snacks. The staff was polite and helpful from the hotel to the casino, although many of the casino staff members were unaware of promotions. Slots were mostly clean, as was the overall casino space. I had a blast playing slots! Definitely will be back!!!

This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.

I noticed a space heater in the closet, but I was only there to sleep and enjoy a lower temp for that anyhow, so my Michigan spring stay worked out well. A lot of amenities you might expect to find in a modern hotel (coffee maker, clock, phone) are non-existent in your room, but do exist in the common room of each building. My personally experienced drawbacks were that some shades would not move up or down, very little toilet paper and tissue paper in the room, and some housekeeping neglect in the corners. Overall, a 3-4 star experience, but I am leaning towards 4.

The room (two queen sized beds) was clean and aesthetically pleasing. We had no mechanical or plumbing issues whatsoever. The morning breakfast is not complementary. Although still a buffet, were quickly appreciated they had elevated the quality of the hot food items and added friendly table service that never left our coffee cups empty. Some food items could be ordered à la carte, which I thought was a nice touch for those who do not want the entire buffet. We noticed the hot food items were freshly made. The valet service was always friendly. The fitness center was two rooms that provided space to exercise. Overall, the property was clean--inside and out. I felt bad for the maintenance guy because he was doing his best to try and fix everything but it just seemed like something they should have tried to take care a few days in advance if they knew they had 100+ people coming in at the same time. We requested a renovated room and I don't even know if that's what we got. It was just very underwhelming for what is supposed to be a nice hotel. It's also weird that they don't have any food options inside? The lobby is really nice and the hotel bar looks great. The staff was friendly when we interacted with them. There is a small parking lot next door. If the hotel has a lot of guests staying, there probably won't be enough parking spaces for everyone which did happen to quite a few people I knew.
