Smelly fish odor as you enter. They had oysters in their case and told me they only carry frozen fish! I would not want to buy here.

If you want fresh caught fish this is the place. Some prices are high but just watch it and they have special regularly.

I usually have the deep fried shrimp but saw someone else's 5 Star rating on the batter dipped fried shrimp tacos, and WOW!!! Three delicious prawn tacos, so far only place I've found that does the batter dipped fried prawn tacos since having them when I visited my parents in Yuma, AZ & we would go to Los Algodones, Mexico. They were the greatest, along with the little serving of chips & salsa, even the water was crystal clear with no chlorine taste. Only one waitress plus a guy helping with everything, ran the whole floor and was very responsive to everyone, even checked on me for more water. The ambience was nothing exciting, but everything including restroom were clean, would have been a 3 to 4 star except the shrimp tacos blew it out of the water, will definitely be back again...

Had to wait to be seated and then told to pick a table. We prefer a slice of lemon in our water and had to remind the server. We ordered both a 1-piece and a 2-piece halibut and chips with a cup of chowder. The fish & chips came out quickly. Nice and hot. The slaw is more like a carrot and cabbage salad with a slight Mexican flavor accent. I believe portions are out of balance as there was way more slaw than fish on both platters. The chowder was thick and creamy and clam forward in flavor. A good mix of celery potato and clam. If there had not been oyster crackers I would say it needed more veg & clams to give texture to the chowder base. The fish was battered and came out hot and crispy. The portions were disappointingly small with a big price. The tarter was very chunky so not great for dipping. Overall, it was good food but I don't think I would go back.

We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu. Note: I've forgotten to take photos so the ones on this review are from the restaurants social media - definitely a reflection of our last meal at The Depot without the drinks.

So you try to be more efficient and reduce expenses But having less spirt choices at the bar maybe shouldn't be one, or not having any options to tweet a choice, or not fully cooking potatoes in the chowder, or... I don't have the challenge of running a restaurant these days, but I do have choices of where to dine. It's a good restaurant, it was just so much better.
