Update: 04/08/26. Well, we got drawn back to the 42nd Street Cafe after a couple other locals posted on Facebook that the 42nd Street Cafe is 'just simply the best restaurant on the peninsula.' We knew better, but we were desperate... it was a Wednesday and the Seaview Biscuit Co was closed. So we arrived for breakfast at 42nd Street. We waited 10 minutes for a table... then 12 more minutes for someone to take our order. We honestly had been looking at a menu while we waited to be seated; we knew what we wanted. Every item we ordered could be best described as 'bland'. Thankfully, they had salt on the table. $5 for a soft drink. No joke. They had one server running the room, which has about 10-12 tables. Same person taking orders, running food and processing payments. Two of our party members were in a hurry to get on the road to Sea-Tac, or else we would have left before ordering. I wish we had! This seals the deal for us on 42nd Street Cafe and Bistro - no need to return. read more

Love this place for breakfast. We always come in once while visiting in the summer. I like to get in right before opening because the place fills up fast. I love and always get their Jambalaya omelette with home fries/potatoes and toast. Unfortunately, this visit the home fries/potatoes were undercooked. I would have preferred crispy over undercooked. Very cute place to have breakfast. Just get there early if you want the beignets! We loved the variety in the menu - starting with the bloody Mary's. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was a nice twist on the classic. I ordered the freshly shucked oyster omelette with fair warning that it was super oyster flavored - it was like oysters Rockefeller in an omelette! Our friend ordered the jambalaya omelette and loved it. There was a wonderful Blackberry compote for our toast and we needed to buy several jars to take home. Service was wonderful from that double check that I really liked oysters that much (lol) to the always flowing coffee refills and very friendly check ins from our server. I ordered blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs and potatoes. The pancakes are thin, like crepes, not how I like, mine, but they were okay. The homemade blueberry syrup was delicious. I found three shells in my eggs, and not with my eyes. *crunch* The potatoes were mediocre. I got hot tea and it was pretty boring. Nice view of the main road. read more

Good breakfast! First thing I noticed, and very much appreciated, was how clean the place was! Granted it was breakfast time, but I'm not sure I've ever seen such clean floors in a dining room. Serious kudos! We ordered coffees, French toast, and a 2 egg plate. I was anxious to try their French toast, since a tad unique. The egg plate was tasty, everything cooked great. The highlight of the table, however, was the jam they provide. Extra yummy...great on toast of course, but wish I'd added it to my French toast too. This is a longtime local favorite for good reason. They produce an excellent variety of fresh cuisine. The tomato soup is amazing as well as the roast beef dinner. Seafood is fresh and of high quality. Preparation is spot on. Skip the beet salad and the side Caesar. Service is excellent and the ambiance relaxing. read more

We brought a friend here for breakfast on a Sunday at around 8:30AM. There were quite a few open tables but they filled up before we left. Service and food was good. It felt a little pricey for what was ordered but the dining area is pretty small so getting the customer volume to break even is most likely a big factor. My eggs were overcooked, but definitely edible. Overall, I'd call it a success. We are local and like to treat our guests to the local fare. We'll be back. The homemade jam was fabulous. We ate here for breakfast on Cinco de Mayo, I didn't even remember that it was Mexican Independence Day until we sat down and saw the breakfast special that was celebrating the day. It was outstanding! We also had a New Orleans style beignet split between two of us and having spent quite a bit of time in that city, I have to say they did it right here 3000 miles away. Service was a ton of but not overbearing in a very busy restaurant, and the atmosphere is upscale and quirky. Can't wait to go back and try some more of their offerings, give this place a try if you're in this part of the world. read more

Amazing! This cafe is adorably yellow inside, has incredible customer service, and the best homemade jam. My house made salmon scramble was delicious, light, and - not too fishy. The potatoes it came with were spot on; a little bit crispy but soft in the center. I loved that the tables had a post card for you to mail home and the bistro paid for the postage. Heavy pour on the Bloody Mary. Definitely getting your moneys worth. My daughter enjoyed her refillable lemonade and the cute jar it came in. We will definitely be back our next trip through. Don't pass this place up. The staff was brilliant. The ambience was absolutely adorable, and the food was hands-down. Some of the best breakfast food I have had in literally years. Fresh biscuits, farm fresh eggs right down to the crispiness of the red potato hashbrowns. And definitely do not pass up the Manmosa made with house made orange cello, a beautiful brute, champagne, and fresh orange juice. I go to Oysterville several times a year and have been doing so for decades. I typically take the back road and avoid Ocean Shores and all the tourists but this recent visit I was in the mood for coffee ad beignets. This place is a long way from NOLA but there are not many French/Cajun coffee shops in the PNW so I thought I'd give them a try. Not bad. Not bad at all. Although I suppose it's pretty difficult to screw up a beignet, right? I often depend on Yelp when choosing a business and this experience was no exception. Visited on Saturday morning at 9am. Got in after just about 5 min. Tables were spaced nicely. They have guest wifi. It's pretty good (see pic) but I wouldn't sit there too long during busy periods. They have some fun drinks that would be good for a weekend breakfast but we didn't order any. Ambiance was typical breakfast. The noise of customers was there but not too difficult to have a conversation. We could hear music but it was too quiet to really hear well. Just looking around they have a big liquor selection. Need to come back for dinner! For breakfast we got coffees (better than usual), New Orleans Style Beignet's, the Pot Roast Hash and Eggs, and the Bacon Waffle. Regarding the Beignet the ones we've had in New Orleans were A LOT smaller. These were huge! They were also covered in an obscene amount of powdered sugar. I'm not complaining, though. They were amazing, hot, and clearly cooked right before they came to the table. The inside was just a bit on the doughy side, which again, I'm calling a positive. The powdered sugar was great on my toast and the waffle later on! The pot roast hash and eggs was also pretty great. I don't usually salt my food, the salt it is cooked with usually being enough. But, this needed a little bit of salt, in my opinion. Otherwise, the pot roast is cooked overnight and it was just falling apart. I did ask for my eggs to be a little more on the hard side (I said medium-well) and they were very runny. Not a big deal though. The sourdough toast it came with was NOT soaked in butter, but had the right amount on. They set down some great homemade jam as well. A little of that on the toast with some of the powdered sugar was great! The bacon waffle was smaller than expected and didn't come with any sides. It did come with well-cooked bacon crumbled into the batter. It was really good, but there probably could have been two of them. This is another item that benefited from having the powdered sugar handy! The only small complaint was that our coffee never got filled. It seemed we just missed the cycle when the server was coming through, but, that just means they need to come through more often. read more

We came for the kite festival and heard this was a place we had to try. During busy season make a reservation (we tried to walk in for dinner but couldn't without one!) so we made one the next night!
