But when we walked in we were not approached by any sales associates, so we continued to look around. When we asked to try on a dress we were told we could not try on dresses without our mothers present. We are 21 years old. Then we were asked about our credit scores and finances obviously being judged because we look young. We told the associates about the occasion and they still would not let us try on dresses. My daughter and I went to Treasure Island yesterday to begin her search for a prom dress. She has very particular tastes and wanted something unique. We were so happy to find that Treasure Island has so many dresses, an amazing selection, all gorgeous! The owners were so helpful and accommodating, making sure that my daughter found just the right dress. Though she had her eye on a particular dress (from a picture on line) they helped her to open her mind to look at a variety of dresses that would all look beautiful on her, which is how we found the dress she was thrilled to find. They made finding the perfect dress so easy and wonderful! This place doesn't even deserve a single star. I'm a senior in high school and for a size 10 at American eagle, h and m, and mostly EVERY STORE. But here they body shamed me for being "big". The lady at the store even went as far to say I have an "interesting body shape". The guy was nice at first trying to help but he was getting frustrated because "there was nothing here for me". Then there's the money issue. Me and my 2 other friends were paying for OURSELVES without our parents. They kept pressuring us to buy and saying of you better be ready to buy this and that and asking us for our budget and seeking surprised when we said we didn't have one. They killed all of our moods. This was one of many unprofessional, rude, statements made by their staff around/towards customers. They are too precise on where their customers are that the environment isn't desirable or tolerable. ALSO, they have ONE pair of heels out for girls to try on with their dress... GROSS. We stopped by on a slightly busy day for treasure island. The store is a bit cramped and all dresses are in plastic, I suppose for protection. There are dresses on mannequins but we were told those are for very Petit or sizes 0-2. The gentleman at the counter greeted us after we told him we were looking for prom dresses and told us to sign in. He ensured us that they don't sell the same dress to the same school. He asked my daughter what her style of dress is and pointed her in the direction of that style and also offered a few other styles for her to try on. He then provided 5 tags with the same number on it to place on the dresses throughout the store that my daughter wanted to try on. The dressing room is very cozy and the ladies at there to help fit and zip the dresses. They also have heels to try on with the dress. We found a dress we really loved but felt out was overpriced after finding it online for $200 less. The overall experience at treasure island was pleasant but the dresses are pricey. Be prepared for the sticker shock for those who are not used to prom or pagent dress shopping. I sure wasn't . read more

This is long winded, but read all the way through, or skip to the bottom! These people are a scam! Changing dresses stock numbers to force girls to purchase from them because they think they cannot find them at another shop! READ THROUGH! Horrible experience, HORRIBLE customer service! After todays experience i would not even recommend this shop to my worst enemy! We walked in & the shop owner (presumably) was in the back & seemed to be helping someone else. Totally fine. I can understand not paying a second person to be in the shop with you on a slow tuesday afternoon. However, no one greeted us. My mother & I were attempting to look around & that is when it started. We noticed signs everywhere saying not to remove the dresses from the rack & unless a parent was present you were not allowed to try on dresses (i am about 2 months short of 30, i was safe). Everything is bagged in cheap dry cleaning bags that are old & crinkled. It was hard to see details of dressed, what the bottoms of the dresses looked like, or what the material was. So leaving the dresses on the racks (as you are not allowed to remove yourself) i pulled a couple of the bags up on a few different dresses to view the bottom & very rudely got told that i could not pull the bags up to look at the dresses. I asked if someone was available to help me as i was interested in a few dresses they offered and wanted to try on. I was told it was impossible because i didnt have an appointment. I said ma'am i was unaware, & let her know we have driven 1.5 hours to get to her store. She did not care & proceeded to tell me that i should have checked the website & if i had checked the website i would have known. I tried to explain to the lady that i had heard of this shop from word of mouth & i had walked past the shop a few times in the past shopping in downtown annapolis. When she proceeded with her rudeness i informed her that her rudeness was in fact fine, i would shop elsewhere & walked out. I made the mistake of walking back inside to see who the designer of a dress was so i could search for the dress elsewhere while i was looking at the tag she told me i was damaging the dress & that they remove their designers tags from their dresses. We left. My biggest issue aside from the rudeness was, that it was a random tuesday afternoon. I did not walk in at noon on a saturday demanding to be helped. I am a pretty low maintenance shopper. i prefer to search for myself. We drove to another bridal shop where they were very helpful when we walked in, showed me almost exactly what i was looking for i tried it on and purchased the dress within 10 minutes of walking into the store. I was telling our sales associate about my experience at the former store & she informed me of the following information. Treasure Island dress shop removes their designers tags (which i knew) & add extra numbers to the dresses stock number (usually these dresses come with numbers from the designers so they can be cross referenced when ordering). In adding these extra digits to the stock number it makes it impossible for girls who are interested in the dresses to find them elsewhere. But here is the real kicker. They charge more for the same dresses you can find elsewhere by doing this. AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS! Make the drive into baltimore or surrounding to do your formal dress shopping. read more

My daughter, my mom, and I went shopping here for a prom dress. I have never been in a store where everything is covered in plastic and you can't see price tags. You're not allowed to pull anything down to look at it. The male employee who was heading up the store was quite rude. As soon as I told him I was looking for something $300 or less he seemed like he didn't even want to be bothered with me anymore. He really made no effort to help unless I asked a specific question. There's a huge counter in the center making it impossible to move. Don't waste your time!! Go elsewhere! The customer service is awful!! The place is small and jammed packed with dresses in plastic bags so you really can't see them. And there is nowhere to sit or use the bathroom. Plus, the wife actually hit my God daughter because she didn't want her to zip up her own dress! Unacceptable!! They also will not let you try on dresses if they didn't think it was right for you or they thought it was too expensive. Who does that? All of the dresses were too big and if you not tall and thin with size c breasts the dresses will not fit you and the owners do not use clips so you have to hold the dress tight to get any kind of effect. Reluctantly, I returned to this store to find a prom dress for my younger sister. I visited this store in 2006 for my own prom dress which was supposed to be on hold for 24 hours, when I arrived within that 24 hours, I was told my prom dress was sold. Today, we went into the store to try on dresses with my sister whose prom is approaching. While she tried on different dresses, we were attempting to take photos of my sister in the dress to show my mother, who would be paying for the dress. The rude store clerk told us that we can't take pictures, when we told him why were taking pictures, he reluctantly "allowed" us too. When we decided that none of the dresses in the store would work and turned to leave, we stated "Thank you, sorry we weren't able to find anything here". The store clerk replied "I guess that's why you were taking pictures" and laughed obnoxiously. We responded "You need to get better dresses in here so people will actually buy them". Only go to this store if you like being treated VERY rudely by it's workers/owners or whomever is working in the store that day. My 18 year old daughter was refused service being told she had to have her mother with her. Well that is alone distressing because my child's mother (my sister) is dead. And I work full time plus as a business owner and as a single mother to support a family of 4 children. And when I asked to speak with the associate to explain the circumstances I was refused - to even speak on the phone. FAVORITE place to buy my dresses. I first visited about a year ago to purchase a dress for homecoming, and my experience was great. Staff was very helpful and fun, huge selection, and I left with the most gorgeous dress. I just re-visted today to find a dress for prom and again, I was not dissapointed! Staff helps to find dresses that will fit you and look good on you while also staying within your budget. My experience here was awful and I didn't even get to TRY ON a dress. We weren't greeted until we had been in the store for 20 minutes and it wasn't even a real greeting, the owner said, "are you waiting to try on a dress, or what?". The dresses online weren't even in the store and when we asked about them, they said that they didn't have any of the dresses I showed them from the website. They also said that the dress I wanted, they had returned because it was "ugly". While we were in the store waiting to be helped, we watched an interaction where the owner told a customer that she should lose weight and it would be cheaper than having to alter it to fit her. When we first walked into the store, the owner looked at us and did not even speak. She was standing behind the counter and another store associate (a man) was helping another customer. I walked over to the counter, said hi and showed her a dress on my phone that I was looking for. She still did not say hello. She told me the dress was not in the store but there are similar dresses and that I could look around. We started looking around and found a dress. I took it off the rack and the owner yelled, "don't take the dresses off the rack, we have to take them down"! Then she told me that I needed to sign in, to be helped. I said to her, " that would have been nice if you would have told us how things worked, when we first came into the store". She said, " I was with another customer and besides can't you read? Didn't you learn how to read in high school?". While pointing to a sign. The sign said the dresses could not be removed from the rack. However, that was extremely disrespectful how she said it to me! Another thing I noticed, the other two customers did not sign in and they were being helped. At that point, I told her that she was very disrespectful and had bad customer service. She pretty much didn't care and shrugged her shoulders. Then I realized what the real situation was. She did not want to serve us. My daughter and I left the store. I went there today, and was looking for a dress for my daughter's wedding. I previously had tried to call and make an appointment to try on dresses and was told I could come and look but they had all the prom girls coming and might not be able to help me out, but I could look around. I had also tried to call and make an appointment before this but was told they were too busy. Well, I got there to look around and the shop is very small and very customer unfriendly. Everything is in plastic and you really can't just look around. I just left this store with my mother and sister as we are looking for dresses for my sister. After our experience I have checked the reviews and can absolutely confirm the prior horrible reviews and completely understand why they are so negative. They literally are the worst examples of customer service, I was a manger in retail and would never allow my employees to treat customers the way customers are treated here. We had 30 minutes before closing and they would only allow my sister to try one dress on (she wanted to try two) after trying to argue and tell us we would take one hour to to try two dresses. The prom dresses they had were pretty but when you go in its chaotic (granted I went on a Saturday evening during prom dress shopping season). There was one visible person who worked there who was too busy to let us know how things worked. I went with 2 friends and we began to look at dresses and noticed that you are instructed (by the clearly marked signs) NOT to take any dresses off the rack. I found 2 dresses that I liked and held onto them and my friend went off to find someone to work there to take them off the rack. They proceeded to tell her that you have to wait to get a number to try things on so we waited for 30 MINUTES until we finally got to the manager for a number, WHO KNEW WE WERE WAITING FOR A NUMBER, and told us "You do not have a parent with you so you cannot try anything on" and pointed to the door. I was very disappointed in the ENTIRE experience. We drove over an hour to go to this one store and were sent out after waiting for a while to try things on. My niece, her friend and I went to this boutique to find a prom dress. We walked in and there was no greeting, only "you can't bring your cup in here". There was no direction on how the process works. I was asked repeatedly "what are you looking to spend?" specifically when we asked to try on dresses that were on the maniquin. I had no issue with the size of the store as the store we just came from was the same. The customer service was poor overall. Although my niece found the dress she really wanted and we purchased it, I made a point to confront the owner about the feeling of being slighted because he may have stereotyped my sweat pants, young face, and puffy coat for either not having the means to make a purchase in the store or that we would try to steal. Although he apologized, I made a point of emphasizing that the two mother daughter pairs that walked in after us, who were white, were greeted immediately and helped with their selection much more readily. read more

I would not enter this store again if my life depended on it. I went in to buy prom dresses for my daughter and Goddaughter. While signing in I was told that the girls were only allowed to try on dresses if a parent is in the store. I let them know I was the person buying the dresses for both girls so the man gave my daughter and Goddaughter tags to tag the dresses they wanted to try on. The short story is my daughter tried on dresses first. She had a very specific look and style she was looking for. This shop did not have it. So she told the lady she wouldn't be buying a dress. At that point the lady REFUSED to allow my Goddaughter to try on the dresses she had picked. The lady kept saying, "Your daughter didn't buy a dress. Are you buying dresses today?" When I told her I was fully prepared to buy dresses she wanted a guarantee I would buy two dresses before letting my Goddaughter try on dresses. The shop did not have the dress my daughter wanted and they really made very little effort to make a dress work. Such as saying they could order the right size (my daughter is very petite) or add straps, or order a different color. It was a very uncomfortable situation. Embarrassed and humiliated my Goddaughter whispered to me that it was OK she just wanted to leave the shop. From what I observed, unless you had shopped at this store since middle school dances there was very little customer service going on. The man behind the counter told a story of a girl coming in that had shopped there many times before and how he knew exactly what dress to put on her. However when I finally got him to help us find a dress he showed me a cheap looking and totally unacceptable dress but was sure to point out the price tag. It must have been the cheapest dress in the store because it was truly horrible. He also told a very inappropriate joke about prom girls having sex on prom night and wearing white dresses so they could have a shot-gun wedding the next day. Very unacceptable! The shop does not allow parents past the magic line to the actual dressing rooms. I truly believe this is so they can strong arm the girls into picking a dress that they really don't want. I completely understand wanting to keep dresses in good condition so they are sellable by having a sales person help the girls zip up and limiting the amount of people touching the dresses. I understand the dresses are of a certain quality and price range, they were well within our budget. Horrible experience. Very small store with dresses jammed on wall. When you enter you sign in and get five numbered tags that you eventually put on the hanger of the dresses that you want to try. You are only allowed to try on a total of 5 dresses and only one may be a dress that is on a mannequin. You may not take the dresses down from the hanger yourself. The fitting rooms (3) are jammed at the back of the store. Only one flat mirror to share between 3 people trying on dresses. Parent/additional shopper not allowed beyond a certain point but no room to "model" and look at dress. The woman owner makes the person trying on the dress relinquish their cell phone from the dressing room claiming safety but clearly to protect their " no picture" policy. The man owner was insulting to my daughter asking her if her mom picked out her choices of dresses to try on (although they apparently liked them enough to stock them). He said to me several times that he didn't understand her choices since they weren't similar styles (isn't that the idea of trying on dresses?). In the end she didn't get to try on the 5th dress that was on a mannequin because he thought we didn't want to pay $550 for a dress and it was a lot of work to take off the mannequin. Awful experience. Would never recommend them to anyone. Sadly, I would also rate them less than 1 star. read more

Awful experience. Do not shop at Treasure Island. For starters, the dresses in the store, though they are pretty, are ridiculously jacked up to outrageous prices. In my personal experience I went to the store and looked around with some friends. Thirty minutes went by without the store owner even acknowledging that we were in the store. Then, once all the other customers had gone the woman acknowledged us with a weak hello and wanted to know what we wanted. There is a sign that says that you are not allowed to try on a dress without parents present and as a group of girls we understood that we would not have been able to try the dresses on. So instead we asked the woman if we could not try the dresses on but hold them up out of the bags to see if we liked the full dress or even the color against our skin. I kid you not when I say that the woman said, "Well who will be getting the dresses down?", (since that is another rule of theirs) and when I replied that I was hoping she would help us she laughed in my face and said, "I have to go eat my lunch". Mind you it was 4pm. Needless to say we left but the customer service was awful and I would hate for anyone to buy a dress from that store. read more

Okay there is not one good thing I can say. Not one. The store is small, dirty, and almost as disgusting as the attitudes of their staff. The man looked at me and asked me if I had a parent present to pay. I replied and said I have over 1,000 in my name, I'm a legal adult and do not need a parent present. He argued with me until I HAD TO SHOW HIM MY BACK ACCOUNT. Afterwards, he only let me pick out 2 dresses and as I was going to take a dress back to the fitting room which is beyond dark and DISGUSTING. A curtain is in front of the door and it barely closes. He saw my dress was a size 4 and said "you are way too big for that! You're not allowed to try this on." I've never been so confused and seen such bad behavior by anyone quite frankly. Oh, also one of their staff members was mid 20's (from the looks of her) and she was rolling her eyes, yelling at other girls, and cursing at them telling them "it's not going to f****ing fit you, if you break the dress you are effing paying for it" it was the most unbelievable experience of my entire life. Once I walked in and asked about the dress the man responded right away saying thats an online dress only because it is CHEAP material that they would not it at the store. So I asked if I could see something similar to the dress material wise and I would judge myself if it is cheap material or not (mind you the dress was priced at $350) and he kept insisting that it was cheap material and nothing I could find in the store. Anyways, I decided to try on a dress that was hanging in the window and his response was "this dress is out of your price range" like what the?!!!! How dare you rude man?! How would you know that? so I said I still want to try it on to see if it fits and he responded saying I can't take it down because the beads on it would fall off if you try it on!! I dont understand a dress priced at $600 made this cheap to have the beads fall off from trying it on!! Then he proceeded to say that he would take it down if I purchased it..but how would I purchase it if I did not try it on first to see if it actually looks good or fits to begin with. I had the best experience buying my daughter a special prom dress. The dresses are amazing and there's always only "one of a kind dresses" so there's no worry of someone else having the same dress. It's a small shop with a huge selection. I understand why there are certain protocols that you should follow. We were looking for one style and her expertise led us to something more elegant and a style for her body type that we would have never considered. They will order gowns but they also sell off the rack. Everything is bagged and only handled by them. We were interrupted by a rude consumer who demanded to try on a dress without an appointment. She had expressed an interest in a dress that they didn't have that was $350, the one in the window was $1000. He explained to her that it wasn't in her budget and they sell the dresses, they're not floor samples. She wasn't going to try on a dress that she had no intention of trying on. This is by far the worst prom boutique my friend and I have ever visited in terms of customer service and store organization. We walked in and they disregarded our presence even with the lack of people in the store shopping. As soon as I picked up a dress to show my friend, one of the employees immediately told me to put the dress down. I asked why and she said I was not allowed to try on any dresses. We do not recommend this store. My daughter and I went to the store on Saturday to look for a prom dress. We were in the store for at least ten minutes and was never greeted. You couldn't miss that we were in the store because it's small and cramped inside. I took the initiative because my daughter picked out some dresses to try on. After I addressed the owner, he told us to sign in and gave my daughter four number tags to hang on the dresses she would like to try on. He also said you can try on only one dress from a mannequin. My daughter found four dresses; two on a hanger and two on a mannequin. Mind you, one mannequin was hanging on the wall and one was hanging on the rack. My daughter respected the store policy and decided on the one hanging on the wall. The two dresses on hangers were pulled by a nice young lady, and the male owner said "try these dresses on and we'll see." My daughter tried on the two dresses and she didn't like them. The female owner was in the dressing room area while my daughter was trying on the dresses. My daughter asked the female owner about the dress on the mannequin. The female owner asked my daughter if she was ready to buy the dress today or is she just looking. My daughter said just looking. The female owner had THE NERVE to say to my daughter, "when you're ready to buy, come back then and try the dress on." How rude! I nicely told my daughter to get dress and lets go. If my daughter tried the dress on and said "Yes to the Dress", I would have purchased the dress. And It shouldn't matter if the patron is ready to buy or not. Provide good customer service regardless. They didn't follow their own store policy. We would not recommend going to Treasure Island. We felt disrespected and discriminated against. read more

if you want to be treated horribly and "talked down" to, then this is the place for you! this place only cares about "making the sale" and could care less what you think! the arrogance and rudeness the owner displayed was unacceptable, not to mention how he changed his tune when he realized i was shopping for TWO girls who really wanted dresses from there! the only reason i'm giving a one star rating is because there is not a lesser option! to any potential customers, BE WARNED, do not shop here! please, please, please spend your money elsewhere with a company who is gracious you chose them and will sincerely treat you like a paying customer! read more

Treasure island has the best selection of dresses. I walked in there with no intentions of finding a prom dress , and I walked out with a gorgeous gown that I'm in love with. what makes this store better then all the other dress shops is that they do not sell thw same dress to more then one person from the same schools. RUN AWAY! DO NOT SHOP HERE!! Limited selection, rude customer service, the Indian man is creepy with the inappropriate comments and the old Indian lady is very rude. I wish my sister and mom read the shop's review prior setting foot in this charlatan of dress boutiques. My sister and mom went to this dress shop looking for a prom dress. Both were, pushed to purchase a dress the same day and the dress was improperly fitted. (Any professional dress boutique would state the fit was too tight) So my mom stated she won't pay for a dress that is too small. The lady stated to come back, again they went back. The lady and her associate offered to get the dress in a size up. The lady stated that the original dress offer was not valid so they don't have to worry about taking a dress that does not fit. My mom paid for the shipping and the man called and stated the designer did not make the dress in that particular size. The man complained that he could not "order" online from the designer's site since his ipad was acting buggy. They insisted my mom and sister to come in and select another dress within the store. (Since when did La Femme have a direct shopping cart to purchase dresses?) They obliged and could not find a dress to my sister's liking (dresses are of knock off quality and limited selections). The man offered, if my sister can make a wish list of the dresses she would like, he would order a dress. He stated "no more than $60" more. She sent him a list and he responded with dresses prices over the budget by $200 and up from the agreed upon of $450 budget. My mom refused to alter from her budget and his response was to refuse to give a refund on a "invisible dress" (we still don't have a dress) and must pick up the invalid small dress by this weekend, then had the audacity to invite them both again to see the same old low quality dresses. They state they been in business for 20 years but with their poor customer service and limited selection, I find that hard to believe. This is a learning experience that we all take and will NEVER EVER recommend or shop at this establishment. This is dress shop is for those who need a low quality dress at a moment's notice, not for quality or good customer service. Lastly, if they respond in a rebuttal and state this event never occurred, there are one too many reviews that have the same experience. Save your time, joy and patience, AVOID this joke of business. read more
