First of all, I would give zero stars, but everybody there was understanding and communicative EXCEPT the "head" jeweler with "40 years of experience" (which he gladly gloated about when we showed him the ring / told him another shop didn't feel comfortable resizing the due to being a tension setting). Not mentioning names so I don't get my review flagged, but S.E. is either the Grinch incarnate or a merely a small, angry man... either way, the ownership is too complacent or lazy to do anything about it. My now fiancee and I brought her engagement ring there to be resized after being recommended to do so from the store we purchased from. Their website mentions "most resizing done within an hour", so we figured we would give it a shot. Upon arrival, as mentioned above, the jeweler saw it, and gave us a time that it would be complete by, "give me a couple hours", cool, we can walk around the mall, eat, kill time. About 15 minutes away from the time we were given for pickup, seeing as we were walking right by the store, we decided to check and see if it was done. We arrive and ask, and the jeweler scoffs "it will be ready closer to when you were told it would be ready". We explained to him we were told 3pm, and currently it was nearly 2:50pm. His reply? "I guess I better get started on that then". We are in no-rush, so we tell him okay, and that we will go next door to the restaurant there for a couple drinks and a snack. Before we are even finished with our single drink each, and a small plate of wings, he is in the establishment schmoozing with other bar patrons. We then return to the store and, thankfully the ring is done. We look at it, and well, it's good enough, but we've been in the mall around 6 hours at this point. I explain that I had planned on proposing that night, and while I appreciate the quick turnaround on this type of job, I will likely be bringing it back to have it corrected and returned to as close to it was when we bought it, to which they agree is fine. That Sunday, about 2-3 days before Christmas, I return with the ring. I am discussing with the jeweler that, for as confident as he was, this (small) resize does not exude "40 years of experience" and I would like him to correct that and fix the issues with it. Issues being, when resizing, he did not cut evenly or did not bend it in evenly causing the settings to basically be lopsided when the ring was on the finger, the diamond itself was far looser than when we brought it, and, worst of all, in resizing, he added metal to the tension setting as it had opened up a little. This metal not match, nor look consistent with the white gold on the rest of the ring, it was not built up, nor sanded enough to not look like a sack of potatoes (shown in pictures). He agrees that it isn't his best work and will fix it up for us. I proceed to ask him about when he thinks he'll be able to work on it / general timeframe, as once again, I know it's close to Christmas. I mention it's not a huge rush and I don't want him to think I'm rushing him, as that may have been the case initially, causing him to perform less than stellar work. He mentions "It'll be done Wednesday"... puzzled I reply "Oh, on Christmas Day? You're not taking the day off?"... his response "I'm f-n Jewish, I don't give an f about Christmas, I'm going to work and make some cash". Somewhat shocked by the delivery, but hey that's his choice to work Christmas, I smiled and nodded and left the ring with him. Christmas passes, it's Thursday so I am expecting to get a call that it's ready. Nothing. Towards the end of day, I call. One of the other staff members goes to look and then informs me he can't even find the ring, and he would ask the jeweler and get back to me. Doesn't get back to me. Now it's Friday evening, I call again. "It's on the bench ready to be worked on. It will be ready for Sunday". Sunday comes and goes as we traveled to do a late Christmas with my fiancee's family, no call Sunday. Monday we return, later in the day, figuring we would give them a final chance to rectify the situation. We get there, the ring is still on the bench and has yet to be started, and to boot the jeweler isn't there. The nice woman at the counter tells us that she thinks he just went to grab a quick bite or use the bathroom but should be back soon. We wait around, and he finally returns, and it STILL hasn't been started. There is finally some back and forth, a bunch of excuses, and I ask for the ring back. "I guess you want your money back to?" "Yep, thanks for making that so easy'. I then mention that if it can't be fixed, I will hold the business liable for refunding me the cost of the ring itself to get a replacement. "Sure thing buddy!" as he hands me a business card, with his personal number written on the back with "text". Would 100% avoid this place if you want anything other than cheap/theater jewelry fixed lest deal with this payaso. read more

Most of my jewelry is rather sentimental and I dislike taking it to places that have a jeweler offsite or even contract out. I had a really bad experience while living in another state at a different repair place with a jeweler who completely changed a ring of mine that's extremely sentimental so I'm always a little nervous when having items repaired anywhere. But Treasure Isle has always consistently done excellent work with my items and has never let me down. I've had a number of my watches repaired, links removed or added, and the battery replaced over the years. My most recent experience I needed my wedding set sized down. So I have a very adorable, albeit old, pair of glasses that I have been babying along because getting new glasses is expensive and annoying. About 4 months ago, the frame around the right lens broke. I took them to my eye doctor and he recommended I get them repaired with the guys at Treasure Isle if I didn't want to buy new ones since the frame really only needed to be welded back together. I stopped by and dropped off my frames and they were completed that same day for the cost of $25 dollars and was assured that they would repair them again for free if they broke in the same place. They also somehow sandblasted off super glue residue that I left on when I foolishly tried to repair them myself without batting an eyelash at my stupidity. I was so pleased I brought in a bracelet to be repaired the following week. They told me that they could provide the piece that I needed (a part of the clasp fell off), but it would be a lot cheaper for me to go to Michael's and buy it myself and bring it in. They further astounded me by announcing that they would be happy to do the repair work with the piece that I bought cheaper and from a different store. I love these jewelers! I have worked with them three times so far. 1.) Rhodium plating - they do an amazing job! 2.) My engagement ring setting has cracked 2x. The first time I took it to another jeweler. It soon cracked again. The second time I took it to Treasure Isle. They explained why it was cracking and fixed it. Wow. Bought a ring at another store. It needed to be more than doubled in size. The awesome, fun dude from Brooklyn spent a lot of time shooting the sh*t with us and making recommendations while keeping the rebanding in our budget. He suggested a method that would be super comfortable to wear and enhance the appearance of the setting. Also that Brooklyn dude is straight up good people. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed chatting with him and we felt like he invested a lot of time trying to figure out the perfect fix. Do not go here unless you need an expensive lesson in attitude, bad integrity, and crap work. I came here with a ring that needed to be made smaller by about half a size. An associate gave me 3 options that did not involve cutting into the ring (I didn't want it cut because that would have messed the design). He said that the first 2 options are crap, but the third one, more expensive, obviously, is great. I agreed to the $65 option. When I picked it up, I thought the new bar, welded on to make the ring smaller felt weird, but I thought I could get used to it. Wrong, after 3 days it was digging into my flesh painfully, leaving a red mark. I knew there was no way I could wear this, so I went back to remove the piece. I explained to the associate at the time what the problem was, and he agreed to remove the bar, which took him all of 2 minutes. He told me he would not charge me for it because "that would be ridiculous" (that I agree with). When I asked for a refund, another associate, who was idling nearby, looked at me as if he was offended personally, and said: "when you picked up the piece you said it was fine. When you walk away from here you basically tell us that you're satisfied with the work, so you cant ask for a refund". I have never been treated with this much disrespect at any business in this country. First of all, I never said it it was fine, and I don't appreciate someone making stuff up. I'm not stupid, I remember what I did or did not say, which at the time was:"it feels weird". Second, I came here to get a job done on something I would actually wear. I can't tell whether it's fine or not until I wear it for a period of time longer than 30 seconds, and if you have a "no refund" policy, you better tell ahead of time. I would have thought twice to trust a golden ring and $65 to someone who doesn't feel responsible for their work. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Bad work, bad attitude, disrespect to customers, and no warranty. Stay away from this place if you value your possessions and your money. read more

Short version: I had a battery replaced by these guys. They did a great job and were cheaper than the other two places that quoted me prices. The Story: I went into Crabtree to get the battery on my Tissot watch replaced, figuring that there are plenty of jewelry places in there... There's bound to be one that can replace the battery. The first store I encountered started with a K. The folks there were very nice, and quoted me a price of $30 to replace the battery. I decided to check around and see if this could be accomplished a little bit more cost-effectively. I then moseyed over to a nearby store whose name starts with a Z. The man there was very nice as well, but said that he didn't have the proper tool with which to remove the back from my watch. He directed me to Treasure Isle. I walked into Treasure Isle and handed them my watch and asked them if they could replace the battery. They had it done in a matter of a couple minutes, and I was outta there for $10. While the guy was working on it, I asked him a few questions about the longevity of the o-ring that keeps the watch water resistant. He seemed very knowledgeable, and also seemed happy to educate a consumer. The second store that I had received a price for doing this was a jewelry store at North Hills (this was on a different day than the trip to Crabtree)... They wanted $18 to replace the battery or $30 to replace the battery and leak test the watch. Needless to say, this is where I'll be going for battery replacements for the foreseeable future. Very friendly and VERY helpful. I brought my ten year old Citizens watch into Treasure Isle (because of their Yelp reviews) and I was not disappointed. My watch was in need of repair, I just didn't know to what extent. The gentleman that helped me took a look at my watch and informed me that they could not work on Citizens watches and I would have to send it back to the manufacturer. He then said "let me take a look at that for a second", I was not very hopeful as the dial that adjusts time had been stuck for weeks. The gentleman studied the problem and was able to solve the issue without having me send it to Citizens. It works great and best of all....the man didn't charge me a dime for his help! I took a vintage Soviet military watch to them yesterday. A part in it called a cannon pinon was just loose. I know for a fact that was the issue because I have another slightly different model of the same watch with the same movement that had the same issue and it was fixed by another watch maker whom I cant seem to get a hold of now. The first guy I talked to agreed with my assessment and said their master watchmaker would look at it and call me tomorrow. I said ok no problem. So I wait all day for a call and get no call....ok strike one. So I call up there while I'm in rush hour traffic after work. After some shuffling around and some whispering I get a very abrupt come pick up the watch its un-repairable. I said how can that be just tighten the canon pinon I would do it myself but I don't have time or the tool anymore hence why I had to take the first one to another watchmaker. Then I get some BS about a part is broken and parts aren't available. Go on ebay and look up 2414a movement they are a dime a dozen and parts separately are plentiful. I said just order the part and add it to the invoice. Yes, the watch isn't worth much and its not a rolex or anything but I like it and want it fixed. I was then met with a no sir we aren't going to do that come pick up your watch up anytime. I said fine be there soon. I get there and the girl working there pulls it out of the drawer and doesn't say hello or sorry we couldn't fix it nothing, just tosses it on the counter and turns back to watching tv. That's strike two and three. I get home and I open it up and all the watchmaker did was turn up the spring tensionor. That has nothing to do with the cannon pinon in the least and all it does it just speeds up the second hand and throws the time off. so I had to set it back to what I know was the proper setting. That's strike four and they are beyond out. If you have any kind of vintage watches or jewelry don't even waste your time. I work ten hour days and they wasted my time over a period of two days and didn't even have enough decency to apologize. The funny thing is the watch runs and holds time just fine. Its just hard to set the time due the loose cannon pinon if the spring winds down like if I let it sit over the weekend when I'm mainly at home. So the part that I was told was broken wouldn't even move the minute hand and keep time. I don't know if its a case of being incompetent, just didn't wanna do it because of what the item is, or simply just didn't know how to work on that movement. All I wanted was an honest answer and I wasn't given one nor was I told about the adjustments that were made to the watch that I had to reverse. I know I'm the odd man out in the reviews here but that's what I experienced and should anybody else have something similar they should know what to expect. Don't get me wrong its not that they couldn't fix it its that they didn't even try even after I gave them the go ahead to order whatever parts were needed off ebay and said to just fix it. The tossing the watch on the counter and not even looking at me didn't help matters either. read more
