Kept warm by the bare suit where they pump air into it to keep you nice and warm and toasty.

I just finished up with my second hip replacement surgery done by Dr. Colin Poole at Treasure Valley Hospital. Both times I have been blown away at the differences between this hospital and St. Luke's or St. Al's. About two to three weeks prior to surgery they have you come in for pre-admission testing. Here they go over all the financial/insurance paperwork with you. They also discuss your current medications and what you can or cannot take leading up to and also the morning of surgery. This is all given to you in a nice easy to read handout that you can refer to the week prior to surgery. They also complete a whole slough of testing from taking blood to doing an ekg. They want to make sure you are healthy enough for surgery. Genius! I felt very safe in their care. They take infection very seriously. To help, they send you home with a bag of special soap, washing mit, and a timer. The night before you wash your entire body with the soap then you turn off the water for two minutes and let the soap go to work. You then rinse off and dry off with a freshly laundered towel. You then dress in clean pajamas and get into a bed with clean sheets. You then repeat this all the morning of surgery. Once at the hospital they just have you sign a couple quick forms and that is it. You don't have to refill out any information as they had gotten all this at the pre-admission testing. When they call you back to prep for surgery, they once again have you wash the entire surgery with a special cleaning wipe. They then have you clean the inside of your nose with nasal sanitizer. They also send this home with you which you use twice a day for two weeks to prevent any type of infection (like Mrsa). Every staff member I have encountered has been kind and helpful. Their nurses only have a maximum of three patients each. THREE! The poor nurses at the other hospitals are swamped with patients (I'm assuming it all comes down to money). Not here. You never feel like a 'pain in the neck,' they are always keen to listen and provide you anything you might need. I was assigned a Registered Nurse, Mandy, as well as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Beverly. They consistently spent five minutes or more with me each time, checking vita's, giving meds, and just plain chatting with me, their patient, that was trying to be distracted from of all the pain. The food is also way way better than any hospital I've ever stayed at. None of it tastes like cafeteria food. They don't have a large menu, so I assume that is the reason they are able to focus on quality and not quantity. I'll take that any day! There also isn't a huge delay in ordering your food to receiving it. Max it might take them 30 minutes, during their perk hours, to deliver your meal. Otherwise it felt like a wait at a restaurant, not any longer. The first surgery we all thought it best if I stayed one night due to my pain level. I have a lot of chronic pain conditions that flare up bad after surgery. They were able to calm everything down after about 2-3 hours. I felt so relieved they gave me the choice to stay overnight just in case I needed iv pain meds through the night. I didn't regret my decision to stay. This second surgery, we knew I had lots of pain before, so we came up with a cocktail of medicines to administer even before I woke up. It was a God-send. I was impressed that they listened and acted upon my last painful experience. Did I also mention this hospital is cheaper than the other two huge hospitals in the Treasure Valley?! Their website boasts a 'higher level of care at a cheaper cost.' I whole heartedly agree. I will always choose to preform my surgeries at Treasure Valley Hospital.

This is a physician owned hospital that is for surgeries, no ER services. Because it is smaller, there is a ton of personalized service. We had a CNA and an RN at all times for my wife's spinal fusion. They were very responsive to pain, exercises, communication in every way. The cafeteria was also quite tasty and crazy cheap for family. I would definitely recommend over the bigger hospitals for care and ease of access, (parking, distance to rooms, etc). The physicians prefer it also, it just depends on if your insurance will cover this hospital.

Told to be here at 11:15 for MRI. 12:30 now and my wait time is still at least 20 more minutes. I'll be back to Saint Luke's next time!

Spine surgery is a big deal. I've had two consults before where the doctors pretty much said "here's what you need" and then just expected me to do it without questions, research and serious consideration. Dr. Bridges is the opposite. She flat-out said high risk, gave me real numbers on complication rates, discussed options even if it wasn't in her wheelhouse and referred me to someone who specializes in an option I want to explore. No detectable ego which makes her more credible in my eyes. I'm well aware weight is always a factor in surgeries and since my colon resection and the unexpected consequence of the high carb post op diet, I'm all too aware of my current size. i don't sugar coat it. She doesn't sugar coat it. Need to keep this stuff real. She wasn't rude, just matter of fact. I really appreciate that. Quick digression: She told me that because I would be face-down during surgery and I've got a bigger belly than usual, that pushes all the blood up towards the spine and can make me bleed more. I hadn't even thought about that. Only airway and anesthesia. Makes sense but I never even thought of it. So, I left with an X-ray order for both hips since my recent trip to the ER it's unclear if I had severe hip pain because there's something wrong with my hip or if it's an extension of the spine problem. (duh, wonder why ER didn't do that?) Also got referral to a doctor who specializes in an option that I researched to see if it's even viable for my injury AND a referral to Salt Lake because they have more advanced equipment to handle how complicated this is and I might need to go out of town. If I have to go to Salt Lake, I wish Dr. Bridges could go too and make sure some jackass doesn't get stupid on me. I have pretty much had my fill of doctors and trust is hard to come by.

No doctors, all physicians' assistants, at the ER!Started at urgent care, but the nurse was in charge of taking the X-rays. The nurse expressed concern about being able to get the X-rays done. Okay, you're clearly not trained to do this role. Instead of focusing on saving money by having lower skilled employees doing the job, give quality care, with appropriate staff. I never would have gone to the ER if the urgent care staff was appropriately staffed, with an X Ray technician. I didn't want to have my family member endure extra pain, and additional X-rays, if the nurse couldn't correctly take the X-rays. Clearly an administrative problem. Staff was kind. I'm hoping they do the right thing and adjust the charges. Any charge should be attached to a service provided, not just you went to the ER and saw a Physician's assistant for less than 10 minutes. Ridiculous! Make it right, St. Al's.

Super busy day, and I could tell based off the parking lot alone. I walked in with my mother, who is visibly not well, and the receptionist working was absolutely terrible. Horrible attitude. Just uncaring, not polite whatsoever. Very blunt and rude with her questions, had a scowl on her face, and looked irritated as my mom is giving her information. I, mistakenly, mentioned "I'm not sure if you know, but there's a wet puddle on the floor". Mid sentence she rudely cut me off, "I know. Someone's coming. We see it". I said, "ok, sorry to bother you at work". Walked away. Triage nurses? 10 gold stars. I acknowledged their stresses, and they were absolute angels. Once we were able to get a room, we waited. Understandable given how busy they were. When the ER doctor came in he was TREMENDOUS. While I'm sure he was over the day he maintained great bedside manner, looked us in the eye, patient, and super caring. 10 stars for him. The CNA that came in before him was also super nice, and patient. The RN? lol RUDE. Seemed annoyed my mom was asking questions, and just flat out annoyed with people breathing it felt. Between the receptionist and the RN, the tension and annoyance was so palpable I felt uncomfortable being someplace where people are supposed to be professional. Again, I get being stressed out and with Dr Google, I totally get the frustration.. human moments are forgivable, but this? Never again. The ONLY reason I gave this 2 stars was for triage, the CNA, and the ER Dr. They were actually really nice given the circumstances. I typically don't do reviews often, but this was enough for me say something. I plan on calling the feedback line as well. I always talked about how great St Luke's is, but after today it's not likely I'd recommend their care again.I

On multiple occasions the office called in the wrong prescriptions despite me clearly stating the medication and dosage and having the staff repeat it back to confirm. These errors happened more than once and demonstrate a level of disorganization that is unacceptable in a medical setting where accuracy is critical. The most concerning issue involved a prior authorization for a medication that is essential for my health. I was repeatedly told by Dr. Lewis and his staff that the prior authorization had already been submitted to my insurance company. After waiting nearly two months with no progress, I contacted my insurance provider directly. They confirmed that they had never received any prior authorization request from this office at any time. Nicole, the "account manager," also refused to escalate the situation despite being told that this medication is medically necessary. I was told it could take 4-6 weeks just for the office to send the prior authorization, which does not even include the time it would take for insurance to review it. For patients who rely on critical medications, this kind of delay is not just frustrating... it is extremely dangerous. Being repeatedly told that paperwork has been submitted when insurance confirms they have received nothing raises extremely serious concerns about the office's administrative practices and communication. Because of these issues, I will be filing a formal complaint with the Idaho State Board of Medicine so that this situation can be reviewed and investigated. Patients should never have to chase their doctor's office for months just to find out whether something as basic as a prior authorization was actually submitted. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office.

These basic skills are lacked in 90% of the people who work in registration downtown. If I can have all my appointments here, I would. I hung out in the waiting area till it was my turn. I am very responsible with my medications and know the generic names , the brand names, how much I am taking, what time of the day, and why I take them.
