Step to the side Salt & Straw.. there's a new ice cream sheriff in town. Ok... it's technically not in the same town, but definitely in the same area.. and Treat takes the throne! On a serious note though, tried treat for the first time the other day after looking for dessert places on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. The Ooey Gooey butter cake ice cream was sooo flavorful, with tons of chunks of butter cake in it, and my fiancé had the mint chocolate chip that had more big chunks of chocolate cake instead of chips... it was amazing as well. The vibe and attitude at Treat was also super chill, and it really fit in with the up and coming vibe that Vancouver has going for it. After a long day of visiting antique stores, my friend and I decided we needed some ice cream and this place definitely hit the spot. We got two different flavors and she bought a mooncake to go for her husband. I tried the coffee flavor, which was very true to the brand of coffee it's based on. It was well done. I think I'd try another flavor the next time I go. This is a counterservice only place, so plan to take your ice cream on a walk or to a nearby park to enjoy it. Definitely try it. read more

Bummed when we arrived an hour before closing and they only had a flourless cookie and cereal cookie- (and ice cream but it is 47 degrees!) Pictures of the donuts and hand pies and other cookies on Yelp look really good- but weren't able to try them. There isn't a case anymore where you can see items that are for sale- possibly scaled back because of Covid. And of course that's understandable. The Chocolates flourless cookie was good, Neither my husband nor I loved the cereal cookie (it has gotten rave reviews on Yelp) but to be fair we are not sugar cereal eating people. We drove 35 minutes out of our way to try this place, so our expectations were possibly unrealistically high. I love to give 5 star reviews - especially during this hard time for businesses, however the cookies we had were 3 stars- good, but not great nor amazing. No pretty packaging- just a white sleeve for the cookies. Employees were friendly and wearing masks, encouraging touch less transactions. Everything was clean. Ommmggg so damn good. Perfect for a lovely afternoon walking around the Couv. I had a scoop of the roasted Oregon strawberry with sprinkles, and nom- what is that, Heath crunch in there?. We also had to get some baked goods like a peanut butter brittle cookie, dead ringer for a ding dong, Marionberry crumb hand pie, and Tycoon bar. Holy cow! I used Yelp to map out exactly where I'd eat during my quick trip to the Portland area and I knew I'd have a gap between lunch and getting in my hotel so I figured I'd be ready for a dessert. Their display is beautiful and you'll want it all. I settled on their classic chocolate chip with sea salt (yummy and still warm from oven) and the coconut, butterscotch, graham cracker bar (can't think of name) with the help of the man at register. First things first, the treats at this place are awesome. The sugar cookie is my favorite cookie of all time, and I've tried plenty. The chocolate chip is amazing too. Every ice cream I've tried there is better than any of the artisan salt and straw type Ice creams in Portland. The gooey butter cake ice cream is great!! If you can get the hand pies you will not be disappointed! However, their hours are OFFENSIVELY bad. Ive driven over there literally dozens of times to find the door locked when their hours say that they are open on their website, their Instagram, and their door. Ive tried calling to check if they're open before I drive over, but no one answers the phone. Then when I drive by on my way home from work, they are open. Ive gone by and the door was locked, stood outside and checked their Instagram: nothing. Hours later they post that they are on vacation. The hours change from month to month with no warning. Ive gone on several Thursday's lately, then I went by today and they were closed. No sign of this in their social media or website. The employee inside said they were now doing fall hours, which I guess means they are only open on weekends again. I believe their "winter hours" were noon to 4, too bad I work every day during those hours. I'm not sure how they manage to pay the rent with such sporadic hours. Again, the food at this place is great if you can get it and I'll keep playing this cat and mouse game to secure that sweet sweet sugar. read more

Just had a Treat waffle cone filled with their Bramble berry ice cream on top and Sea Salt and Caramel on the bottom. They offered to do half a scoop of each which was a generous portion and boy usually I do not go for a fruity one but the sample with the Bramblerry cake in it was to die for. I've heard really good things about this place and its local so Treat was the obvious choice. We arrived on a rainy Friday afternoon. The place was empty, it was 2 in the afternoon in the rain, I thought he would be a little more excited to get customers. Anyways, the ice cream was really good! I had the Coffee Kraque (or something like that) and it was amazing! Creamy smooth and crispy waffle cone. The portions were good so you didn't feel so bad spending the same amount of money as a cheap quart at Winco. Customer service is a huge deal to me when I'm out spending my hard earned money. Oh. My. Gosh. So incredibly decadent and delicious. You must go here. I was eating next door at Woody's tacos and couldn't get over the smell coming out of this place. I looked on Yelp and it said they closed at 4 (it was 6) . However, the hours were incorrect and they were in fact open! I got a Cereal Killer cookie & a chocolate chip cookie (my all time personal fav), and a mini marionberry cobbler to share with friends. The cookies were perfectly crisp on the edges, soft and gooey in the middle and so buttery delicious. And the cobbler. Wow. This bake shop was so delightful and really helped us out in a pinch! I was looking for something custom for a birthday and some additional treats I could display as a dessert bar. Treat 100% over delivered! The owner was lovely and worked with me to create a customer birthday pie, two pints of ice cream, and 12 mini treats all for under $80!!!!!! It was such a hit with the whole crowd and each piece was delicious (even the gluten free ones)!!! I love also that the shop is owned by a couple and everything is made from scratch using fresh items - the owner even called me and said what was in season and what she was getting while out the day before my order ! Tiny place with a handful of different baked treats to choose from along with some ice cream and coffee. It's not a dine-in type of a place so plan on getting your goodies to go (they did have a couple of chairs out front on the sidewalk). We just popped in briefly to check it out and got a "Dead Ringer for a Ding-Dong" which was far superior to the lunch-box snack Ding-Dong, for sure. The lady took it out of a case in the back & not from the display case so the one we received was cold. Treat is a local, small-batch, delicious bakery, that doesn't have the capacity or $$$ to make 500 of everything! I've rounded up for 4.5 stars. This place would be perfect if it had two things: more space (holy claustrophobia, Batman!) and, with it, a place to sit. This is the epitome of a hole in the wall place. Teeny tiny and no, it's not the Tardis - so sadly, it's just as small on the inside as the outside. That said, it's clean and well lit, and quite inviting for a shoebox. The ice cream: Well, there is another ice cream place down the way a bit. Well known, bigger, with places to sit - that my family and I went to once and probably won't return to - the texture of THEIR ice cream was icy and sad. This ice cream? Holy mother of Moses - creamy, luscious, practically PERFECT. I had the Balsamic Strawberry, which was a titch light on the former. It just tasted like a very fine strawberry ice cream and a creamy one more than a chunky one. (I prefer bigger pieces of fruit in mine, but it's a nitpicky thing, since the flavor was totally there). My kid had the ooey gooey butter cake and loved it. Both served in their (for $1 more) freshly made waffle cones. I originally had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the prices, but the servings are very generous and look good enough that, when we were walking back towards my car, we were stopped nearly immediately on the street by a lady asking where we got them. FIVESTAR FIVESTAR. Why???? The DingDong. I was craving a ding dongs about a month ago and bought a box of hostess DingDongs. I haven't had one in years. Much to my surprise they no longer wrap them in foil. They were small and dry and really a bummer. Looking at bakeries on yelp I found TREAT! I had my man stop by as he was downtown today! Mind you it's a Friday night at 6 pm. I wasn't getting my hopes up for the dingdong.. thinking they would be sold out. Well he shows up with 2 and a apple pie and boysenberry small hand pie. I was so stoked that the ding dongs came wrapped in foil. I knew I was in for a treat. I careful unwrapped my new treasure. It was beautifully coated in a rich hard shell( not too hard) chocolate coating. Oh man just the outside was perfectly coated. I cut it in half to discover the inner delectable filling. The cake part was moist and perfectly sweet. I'm hooked for life! Apple pie and berry pie had a perfect flaky crust and just the right amount of filling. Please Please check them out! I will be back... soon. Probably tomorrow Yeah I came back the next day 2 more ding dongs and a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie a fall decorated sugar cookie and pecan chocolate pie. I've been meaning to try this place out for YEARS so we finally stopped there yesterday just to see what was inside. We were full but taking a peek never hurts, right? I would have probably enjoyed all of their choices but two I needed to try were the Brambleberry Crisp and the Pumpkin Butter Cake. Guys, I was literally sad that I couldn't fit both into my full stomach. These were some of the best ice creams I've had in a long while. I ended going with Brambleberry because although I LOVE all things pumpkin, the day was hot like summer so I wanted to celebrate the extension of summer with a summer flavor. It had the perfect tartness of brambleberries (blackberries) with the little crunch of crisp, surrounded by the vanilla ice cream. SO GOOD! I don't live in Vancouver anymore, but I'm trying to plan a weekend trip to try the Pumpkin Butter Cake before it get's put away with the fall season. Want some delicious, unique ice cream? I think they make my favorite chocolate chip cookie. Ever. It's huge, it's chewy, it has just the right balance of salty and sweet... I have been known to grab a dozen for a road trip, and then eat a few before I even get to the carpool vehicle. I have tried a bunch of varieties of cookies and am never disappointed. They did have a bunny "oreo" cookie in the Spring that I wasn't a huge fan of, but I know other people that enjoyed that cookie. read more
