We really enjoyed our visit to Snowy Village. We passed by on our way to dinner and they were super busy, but by the time we were ready for a dessert there was no line. So it looks like there may be a wait at times, just a heads up. Order at the counter. Staff calls your number and brings the item out to you. The shop interior is cute and minimal, and they have number of two-person tables outdoors on their patio. We got a couple of items: the fruity pebbles, the Biscoff, and the watermelon. It was very helpful to have photos of the items at the counter. Nevertheless, we ordered too much - they were HUGE. We should have split. But we all loved the bingsu - the actual shaved milk is not too sweet and the toppings add the flavor. So the watermelon was a little less sweet overall as the fruit was the flavoring since there was no syrup. The bingsu was so delicious, light, and not too sweet - a quintessential Asian dessert. Mango was just ripe, and I appreciated the fact that they layered some in the middle. Smallest size was perfect for sharing between two people, and at $10.99 it was pricy but worth it. That said, the wait time was longer than expected, even with only 1-2 orders ahead of us. Snowy Village is such a cool refresher on these hot summer days. The shave ice is finely shaved and not covered with syrup, just the fresh fruits providing the flavor. The Mrs. ordered the berry bingsu ( was saddened that they were out of mango, what she really came for), I had the strawberry bingsu, which was very, very good. This is a good bingsu place--prices seem a bit steep, but you get a good amount. The snow has that great fine texture, but was oddly dry and less creamy than I have had at other places. Another thing that is different from other bingsu places I've been to is that their desserts are quite tall (I prefer a wider, more shallow bowl), which makes it challenging to eat. Also, if you eat the toppings up, you are left with a bowl of pretty tasteless snow at the bottom. It would be better if they would layer in some condensed milk or whatever flavor/topping with the snow in the bowl. That being said, I got the taro and the toppings were very tasty. The topping to snow ratio is too low, but this would be fixed with a layer of flavor within the snow. I forgot the exact name, but I ordered the "Pig __" flavor which is an Oreo crumble and strawberry flavor, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top. This shop is very small, so be prepared if you can't find a place to eit. We really enjoyed the Mango Bingsoo as it was delicious and very puffy in texture. We also ordered a red bean Taiyaki that was very interesting as they use a waffle batter for a crunchy texture. The taiyaki was made to order, and there is a thick parmesan cheese-like smell when they are being made. I didn't have problem with that, buy my husband said it was a little strong for him. Overall, we liked Snowy Village a lot but wish the wait time was shorter and there were more places to sit. It took us an hour to get in and out of this place on a Saturday night and that's with us taking our Bingsu with us to go. We arrived at 8pm and were getting back in the car at 8:55pm. It was too chilly to eat outside and there wasn't any room inside as there were lots of people standing around or sitting at the tables waiting for their orders. They had 2 people working their butts off in the back, but one was trying to make the Bingsu and the other was making everything else. The place had a white hospital look to the inside. The Bingsu itself was ok. I personally think that it may be a lil overkill with the stacking things on top as I saw someone was bringing out an order and the ball of ice cream on top fell over and they had to desperately grab the top from falling over and place it back on. I personally prefer the fluffy snow on the bottom. They didn't have the sesame so I opted for taro which had a big ballnof taro ice cream on top of the snow with some mochi. I also highly recommend the "light" which is a smallest size, especially if you aren't sharing. Overall it wasn't bad but I don't think I would be willing to go wait an hour again. read more

Wish they had a bigger building because it got crowded quickly, also wish it wasn't painted blinding white but the food really outshines all of that. Bingsu - a Korean milk based shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings. I've had this place bookmarked since I seen that PDX finally got one. We came on a VERY hot day. It was a whopping 94 degrees out. And this definitely cooled us down and satisfied our sweet tooth. For me, bingsu is that subtle balance of sweet. It's not overpowering unless you make it overpowering- if that makes sense. It's street parking. So enjoy the other little shops if you want and end your walk here to cool off. & you're in luck! Because two-zone is next door. A little Korean corner if you will. They're staffed in the kitchen, so a kiosk takes your order. Since we've sat down, to when we ate our dessert, and when we left- no one came out to tend to the tables. Explains the stickiness. Maybe placing a few disinfecting wipe stations could help out and the guests could clean up their table as they are done :) Taro-YUM! We were bummed out that it didn't have taro ice cream but it was still really good. We got extra condense milk to add a little more sweetness once we ate all the toppings. Cheesecake- it was like the perfect balance since it's milk based. And there were extra cheesecake chunks on the bottom. First off, the bingsoo is DELICIOUS and I have been back several times because of this! I would love for this place to succeed and I want to offer some suggestions to the business owner that would overall improve the customer experience. Please ignore if these are things you are not able to do at the moment, but in my personal opinion, they did have an impact on the experience and I hope they can be of use. (1) Please open and utilize both doors if possible, it feels much more intuitive than having one locked and slightly blocked by a chair. (2) I recommend serving with silverware already on the tray included so the customer does not have to get up right when their food arrives to grab their own spoons and napkins. (3) Providing wet wipes rather than dry napkins would help people feel cleaner when they are finished (4) Might be too difficult to change, but the divide in between the outdoor tables is a bit strange and feels slightly awkward (5) Serving the bingsoo in a lower, wider dish would help it be less messy. So much falls of the top because of how tall it is (but the portion sizes are impressive! a kids size is plenty). When bussing, it would be helpful to have a big sign over the " bussing zone" so it is clear where to go. Another small detail that makes the experience feel more seamle (6) The staff are so hardworking, but it definitely feels like yall are understaffed. It doesn't seem like they get much time to breathe with how quick they're moving (and still, wait times are generally pretty long). I understand and respect that margins may be tight and this might not be something you can change, but maybe add another helping hand. (7) Please consider atmosphere, including decor, lighting and music. The lights are too fluorescent and the vibe would feel so much better if it were less bright. Adding wood shelving, plants, and local art, for example, would be a way to warm the place up a lot. The chair right next to the bathroom feels awkward. (8) A random bonus idea - it would be so cool if you sold bingsoo ingredients, trinkets and accessories, and may be a good extra source of income for the store. I don't write this to dissuade anyone from going, rather, there's a reason I keep coming back. It's a texture and flavor like no other, and the delicious, rich flavors should satisfy every sweet tooth out there. Truly love and respect yall and hope you take these things into consideration if they feel right to you. read more

Where to begin, this place was a nice treat for dessert. You order from one kiosk which isn't as user friendly as it appears to be. If you order one "bingsoo" you can order a second one at a discount but must type it in the notes with your first item. The cooked to order custard taiyaki was extremely hot but if you have the patience to wait for it to cool the dessert is crispy and had plenty of tasty filling. Taiyakis were ok and bingsoo was photogenic and the injeolmi powder was delicious. What I wasn't a fan of was the dirtiness of the place. This could be due to low staff and the width of the container the dessert was served in. Chairs and table were sticky and not cleaned for the next guests. And the guests don't clean up after themselves either. I could see how the container style supports people dripping melted sweetness outside the container. So maybe one suggestion would be to provide containers with larger widths so people drip less. Either that or figure out how to keep the place cleaner read more

You certainly get your money's worth here. My wife and I went sometime last year and it was great once we got our orders. It's such a great value for what you get, compared with other similar spots. The only thing regrettable is not realizing how humongous a regular sized order is. And what a spectacle it can be when they finally bring out your order. When we went, it happened to be during the busy time. So it was literally a mad house. Kids screaming, everybody yelling and trying to hear each other. It was cramped inside.... very unpleasant IMO. I won't knock it though. That's just proof of how successful they are. As a consumer, I can just learn a quieter time to show up. If I show up, that is. Liked it, but didn't love it. First, there were cases of condensed milk on the counter, and the area where you bus your stuff was cluttered. Overall, the interior looks and feels unkept. Other reviews have expressed similar sentiment! If you don't consume the Bingsoo fast enough then you're left with an unappetizing mess. The whipped cream tasted processed. Lastly, I wish they'd offer a much smaller version for a lower price. The trend with desserts is small, but they've gone the other way.
