Underwhelming taste and overpriced. Tried the mango basque cheesecake, raspberry croissant, praline croissant, and caneles, along with the peppermint white chocolate latte. Everything was only ok - we were disappointed. The croissants tasted a little stale, the caneles didn't have a crunchy exterior, and the peppermint latte didn't taste like peppermint. While the cheesecake had good texture, it didn't taste like mango at all. Sadly, would not recommend this bakery and will not be back. read more

Meh is about as good as I can give Honeycomb Bakery. I'm the first to want to support local and new businesses but this one is a bit offputting to me. Their coffee is fine but overpriced. I'm not a fan of their pastries. They had one sandwich one time that was fine but also $9 for a very thin, underwhelming deli sandwich. It also took 7 minutes just to warm it up... seemed a bit ridiculous. Staff is friendly if you can flag them to get their attention. They do really well at not seeing patrons. You're not greeted upon arrival and you basically have to flag them to ask to place an order. Ambiance is lacking. It gets too noisy, very quickly. They love to pipe in super religious music way too loud and it's just uncomfortable. It doesn't give the "all are welcome" vibe... very Tuesday morning prayer group turned into gossip-hour vibes... Brewed, Carino, Bleu Door, any other place in downtown in superior to Honeycomb. Just not a winner. read more

I wanted to pop in and see all the desserts and try one. The place is so cool and elegantly decorated. The service top notch she was informative all smiles and si pleasant. I asked what should I get and madame vanilla was one of her favorites and you know what its mine too. Dropped in for a sweet treat early afternoon. There were a few items that tempted me but the chocolate chip cookie called my name. I'm glad went with it as it was great - not overly sweet as chocolate chip cookies can sometimes be, but a great flavor overall. And they're fat cookies, which I really like. Very clean place! The beautiful pasties were like art. I had the pistachio and lychee rose croissants! Both were great, however I couldn't tell rose from lychee. It just tasted sweet. The pistachio was more flakey too. The hotdog croissant was trash. Don't get it, they put in a quarter of a dog for all that bread, not worth it for $8. Super pleasant experience here with its ample south-facing windows on an overcast PNW day. It felt warm and bright in here, London Fog in a perfect ceramic cafe cup on the table. The service was friendly and truly made a wonderful cup of tea. This is a place to savor and enjoy a conversation or read or write. It's small-ish but with open tables when I was there. I didn't try the beautiful pastries but they looked inviting. It's got a great location, near the library, near my favorite walk on officers' row, and a reasonable walk to weekend market at Ester Short Park. I'm a fan. read more

The strawberry choux was delicious! So fresh, sweet, the pastry was soft, and the ratio of filling to pastry shell was lovely. I also bought the praline choux, the honey cake, and the pear. Excited to try them all-will report back! (Reporting back: the chouxs were great, and while the cakes were really pretty, I didn't love having to break through the white chocolate shell and the flavors of the cakes were just okay. I'd def go back for the choux options!) was hoping for a savory pastry, but they only had sweet options at the time. The cashier said they were looking to hire another pastry chef. From what I had, the pastries were large and tasty - nothing overly sweet or dense. Currently they only serve coffee so I'd love to come back when they expand their drink options. First time i came here, it was closed at 2pm, even if both yelp and maps told me it would close at 4pm. It was disappointing, but my mom and I came here again and found it open, luckily. It's got a calming feel to it, instead of it being too loud. The chai was good, but it's just a Steven Smith brand that you can get in any store. The cakes we got were pretty good, but REALLY sweet. The honey cake and pear had a little too much gelatin to my mom and I's taste, but overall tasted alright. We both agreed that the compote in the pear was very good, it was just the mousse that ruined the texture. The basque was really cheesy, which is actually a good thing! I'm not a big fan of cheese but my mom really liked it, and was worth the money. Overall, I would recommend this to people that have a sweet-tooth and not mind the gelatinous texture. It's a pretty pricey for what it is, but that's not up to me. read more

To plop down a twenty plus for two drinks and a danish is not somewhere I'd return. The chai is a tea bag, and a weak one at that. The choices of baked goods seemed pretty limited with it only being noon. If you like sparse decor, you'll love it here. I thought maybe it had just opened but the clerk said it had been a year. Overall the bakery has a elegant look and the display of fresh pastries and the amazing smells right when you walk in is amazing! The service was amazing, very knowledgeable ladies at the counter. We even got to meet their pastry chef! Honest review of what we got from the bakery Caneles: they were pretty dry, and for some reason I thought the center was supposed to have cream. It's was a 6/10 Pear dessert: looks beautiful, nice chocolate shell, inside it was lacking flavor, seemed like it was just whipped cream and caramalized pears, no texture. Needed more flavor and a layer of cake or something crunchy. 3/10 Honey cake: a little disappointed in it, I have eaten many honey cakes, and this one was not the greatest. It looks pretty, but it only has like 3 layers of the honey cake, and the rest is whipped cream. 3/10 Burnt cheesecake: very delicious! The consistency of the cheesecake was soft and flavorful! The raspberry jam complimented it very well! 9/10 Cheese danish with raspberries: WILL COME HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR THESE! The dough was so good and the cream cheese custard center was delicious! This place is situated right in downtown Vancouver not too far out of Portland. The interior is spacious yet cozy with plenty of seating and natural light. I got the burnt cheesecake and a cardamom latte, both of which were delicious. I will be back to try the pear and hopefully everything else on the menu eventually! read more

My husband and I were excited to try Honeycomb Bakery yesterday, and it did not disappoint! In fact, we were more impressed than we expected...they make the kind of high level quality pastry and patisserie there, which is not easy to find. Like the kind of stuff I've only seen on the Great British Baking Show, haha. We waited a few months to stop in, because we'd heard that when they first opened, they were so overwhelmed by the positive response that they were selling out all the time. Apparently they had to quickly regroup and hire more help - a good problem to have! It seems like they are in a good groove now, the staff was super helpful, and the buzz is well deserved. The canneles are divine! Actually, everything I've had is outstanding. So far, it's the best bakery I've found in the area.

This bakery opened up, then it was closed, then it was open for half a day saying they ran out of goodies. So one day it was open, we decided to walk in. We wanted to get two little pear pastries. The girl rang up $40 some dollars. What?!?!? I mean.... The pastries look good but $20 per pastry? That's outrageous!! There wasn't even a name of the bakery on the windows or door. Heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it out. Lovely place and baked goods looked good. Got a couple and went to pay. Clerks looked 14 years old and didn't acknowledge me at all.....just kept chatting among themselves as they bagged the pastries. Finally said "$8.87" I handed her a $10 bill and she looked startled and told me she didn't have any pennies. She should have just given me $1.15 and let the company pay the 2 cents. However, that was not in her vision. So I said that I had 2 cents and she replied "I'll still have to give you pennies but I don't have any." I explained that my having 2 pennies meant she could give me $1.15 and got a deer in the headlight reaction. Other clerk found 3 pennies and said "but your change in $1.13 and put the 13 cents in my hand which was holding the 2 pennies. OMG!! Got home to eat the spinach and feta pastry that was somewhat sweet and not flaky. Much better pastries at Clark College bakery/restaurant for half the price. read more

I stopped by honeycomb bakery on Saturday. There was not many items left , I got cardamom bun , honeycomb cake and burnt cheesecake. Everything was fresh and delicious. I would say the price maybe a tiny bit higher but it define worth it . The bun was fresh, spongy and with cardamon which I don't think I tried anywhere else . Honey cake had mousse like topping and covered in white chocolate. My suggestion is definitely try it :) read more
