Top-notch items, and a perfect place for great gift ideas for the foodies in your life, people learning to cook, etc.

It really is little things like this that keep me happy. This Farmers' Market is located in the UT…read moreGardens on Neyland drive and is literally just a stone throw from where I work. It operates every Wednesday (closed in the winter months) from 4PM- 7 PM. I've walked across the street a handful of times to indulge in the pleasure of getting local products from the hardworking farmers/craftsmen in the area. It is not as big as the Market Square Farmers' market but it has a good representation of produce, food, plants, crafts and a handful of other random things. The Tootsie food truck actually also shows up here sometimes, although they are not consistently there. Quite a few of the vendors are actually not represented at the market downtown so it is nice to get some variety. What inspired this review was the heavenly sandwich I got yesterday. I had been stuck at work all day, didn't bring lunch and I had no idea when I was going to be able to go home. I realized it was 5 PM on a Wednesday and decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner. The Tootsie truck was not there but this wonderful Vietnamese stand had warm food. I had actually not noticed their stand before yesterday. I got a vegetarian banh mi sandwich that totally knocked my socks off. I don't actually remember a sandwich that was that good and only cost $5.00. I went back to work and tried to get everybody I could find to go buy one. They also had egg rolls (which were a little on the oily side), fish tacos and pork banh mi sandwiches. That meal was definitely a lifesaver and it was delicious. I really like the convenience of this Farmers' market and I encourage anyone close to campus to consider visiting. It is in a well shaded area and provides an opportunity to walk around and appreciate the beauty that is the UT gardens. It is also a wonderful opportunity to buy and support local!

I paid for the cake on July 21 and specifically verified that it would be delivered to our wedding venue at 3:00 PM. I even had the bakery double-check the order, and I was assured 100% that everything was set. When the cake hadn't arrived by around 4:00-4:30 PM, we had to start calling to find out what had happened. We were then told that someone had supposedly called on the 18th and changed the order to an 8:00 AM pickup. That explanation made no sense, considering I didn't even finalize and pay for the order until July 21. How could someone have changed an order before it was even completed? What was even more frustrating was that if the bakery truly believed the cake was supposed to be picked up at 8:00 AM and no one arrived, why didn't anyone call the contact numbers on the order? Instead, no one reached out, and we were left scrambling with only about 30 minutes before guests arrived, wondering if our wedding cake would make it to the venue. We were even told they weren't sure if they could get it there in time. As for the cake itself, the decorations were beautiful, and I do appreciate the decorator's work. Unfortunately, the cake was noticeably lopsided, and the cake itself was dry, especially considering the price we paid. It simply was not worth the cost. Mistakes can happen, but this was a wedding--an event that can't be redone. The lack of communication, the confusion surrounding the order, and the stress this caused on such an important day were unacceptable. I sincerely hope Publix reviews its procedures so that no other couple has to experience this on their wedding day.

The Drawing Room is a restaurant bar lounge on the 2nd floor of this hotel It is an upscale very nice and classy venue with a bar on one side and the restaurant/lounge on the other. It is 5 star service with a smile and care here. The waitstaff and bartender were very friendly and helpful and engaging. So why only 3 stars?!? The food was nothing short of disappointing. Steamed mussels? half of it arrived cold while the other half was tepid. This is not good since these need to be piping hot! and they were weirdly in a heavy marinara sauce that overruled any seafood flavor. Grilled octopus? very disappointing mainly since I have had great octopus and this did not come close. Also came tepid....not good! Did not taste good. Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Now the shrimp was decent but the salad was not great and the dressing seemed like it was out of a bottle like Krafts. Did not taste good either. I did not finish any of these three terrible dishes. Score: Hotel 5 stars; Lounge bar 5 stars, Restaurant less than 1 stars. The latter weighed heavily in the final tally, I will visit again since it is indeed a nice lounge and bar but I will not order food.
