The Rock Boxx is a decently large bouldering gym with varying terrain: slab, overhangs, aretes, and a top out boulder. The 2nd floor loft has their hangboards and a functional 2024 moonboard. I've only gone a handful of times, I think they're the only climbing gym in town. The setting was okay. I try not to be "that guy," but the grades were comparatively soft. The inside was super chalky and dusty and 80% of the time, the front desk staff abandoned their station to go climbing. For training, this gym serves its purpose. Nothing more, nothing less. My suggestion, make it more friendly and approachable to new climbers. Front desk is standoffish if not downright absent, interior is like a dusty, smelly dungeon

I do usually go at night, and being new to the area, I don't love the parking situation. It's street parking and I never have parked more than two blocks away, but trying to read all the different parking signs at night is a massive pain. That being said, I do enjoy PRG NE more than Beaverton. Unpopular opinion I'm sure. Beaverton seems more sanitized. NE just feels more homey and has more character. I've heard it called more of a "dirt-bag" gym, but I promise you, this place is much nicer than many other dirt-bag gyms I've been around.

I don't remember our instructors name but they were super helpful and knowledgeable in the subject. I was confident in my skills after the class was over. After the class they let you keep climbing for as long as you'd like or they give you a pass to come back the same day (for free!) The gym itself has lots to offer! There's a rock climbing area, gym (weights and machines), locker rooms, and a sauna! There may be more upstairs but I didn't make my way up there. Parking: we did street parking and it was pretty inexpensive (I think it was $2/hour). I don't believe they have a parking lot so street parking will be your only option. I highly recommend this gym!!!

The party room is spacious enough and it was nice to be able to bring your own food in instead of having to order from the establishment itself. Make sure to watch the safety video (kids and adults) prior to arriving. I would highly suggest bringing a water bottle as well.

The only reason why I say decent is because of the lack of top rope options, but great for bouldering and other exercise options. The prices are unbeatable when compared to any other climbing gym. I've climbed in a few states and the price of the partners membership is just slightly more than the cost of a single member in certain gyms. Facility is always clean. They reset routes often. Staff are friendly and helpful. Even at the busiest moments you can still get on the wall. Haven't tried any of the classes yet so that's my next to try. Overall highly recommend at least a visit!

Excellent gym | very aesthetic…read more This is the biggest climbing facility I've ever been to. It is one of those climbing chains, like Movement, so they have a lot to offer for climbers and fitness enthusiasts. Keep in mind that I'm writing this review with a background of climbing over 15 years and have visited many gyms throughout the country and overseas. The gym boasts over 20,000 sq ft with 17ft tall boulders and 40ft walls of rope routes. You can never be bored here. In fact, there's so much space that they don't know what else to do with it! They have lounging areas, a couple of bathroom areas, training board systems, and weight training. But let's talk bouldering first... Some of the routes I've jumped on felt intuitive. Good flow. There were a few that puzzled me, though. One route was an overhanging low grade route that I anticipated to be an easy warm up, but instead they placed a hold that forced me to do a less than ideal move for the grade. I was spooked. A friend agreed. Overall, they have lots of area with various range of problems for a beginner climber to an advanced veteran. No kids area, but I'd say the area closest to the front desk to the left is the most kid friendly spot. The second biggest feature here is the newly opened rope area. It's impressive and overwhelming. There are about 5 auto belay systems, so you can get a pretty decent work out if you came solo. I saw routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.11 when I did autobelay here. There are two crack climbs one can practice in the auto belay area as well. There is everything imaginable from 5.4 to 5.12/13 here, including overhanging routes. Also, I was impressed with their various holds! One set of black holds were used for a stemmy route, which I thought was neat. I believe they set every 8 weeks. Community? I'm not sure. I think when you are a gym like Movement, it's hard to cultivate a tight-knit climbing community, like Santa Rosa's Vertex or Tigard's Circuit, but I think there are little climbing groups that make up a community. People are friendly though. This place is well thought out. I'm impressed and found the staff to be helpful. A day pass is $27. For a place like this, it's worth it. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here.

Although it is at a Christian church, they welcome everyone for FREE! There is a HUGE multi-level play structure with climbing obstacles, crawling tubes, a cargo net bridge, tube slides, lookout observation windows, and more! The playground is cleverly decorated with douglas fir trees, a sun, and a 3-story tall mural! The large play structure is for ages 3-11. Another small structure and foam pads are for infants to 3 years. They also have foosball and air hockey tables. They even sell snacks! The bathroom is clean and there are step stools for the toilet and water fountains. Parents are not allowed on the play structure, but there are tables to sit and watch or visit with others. Shoes are not allowed and socks are required in most of the floor, so there's cubby holes to store them. It's all FREE and it looks like they have a donation box in case you want to help contribute to the maintenance and whatnot. I think it's all volunteers who attend the playground, so be nice and show your appreciation. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!
