15 July 2023 -- Part of the Menu
    Agnes I.

I visited in July 2023 with a Yelp friend for a late lunch and then again around May 2024. In July 2023, I ordered the red curry with shrimp which comes with a side of white rice ($12.95). It was a filling lunch with vegetables. The curry flavour (liquid part) could have been stronger and the shrimp with vegetables mixture needed a bit more spices. I still enjoyed my lunch. The white rice comes in a small container but it was actually more than enough for me or for 1 person. Prices are fair and affordable especially for the amount of food that you get which is a sizeable amount. I will certainly be back and I recommend this Thai restaurant for a basic lunch or dinner. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 64/150 total reviews in 2024 - 714 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 13 July 2024

    Pad Kee-Mao with tofu
    Katie E.

I ordered carry out on a Friday night and only had to wait 10 minutes to pick up. There is a parking lot which makes it easy to get in and out fast. The restaurant is small and definitely a take-out type of place, but there were a few tables in the waiting area. I ordered the Pad Kee-Mao with tofu. The person taking more order asked if I wanted the lunch or dinner portion even though it was 6pm. I went with the lunch portion and found it was the perfect size for me. The dish was pretty good and I loved how the tofu was cooked. It was listed as slightly spicy on the menu, but I could've have had it as even spicier. Overall, I was happy with my meal and I'd like to come back to try some of their other dishes.

    Finally assigned dasher

Unfortunately can't give 0 stars. Wish I could actually review how the food tasted, but going on hour 3 of not receiving the food. My sister used DoorDash to place an order at 6:46 pm. The app was telling us the restaurant was still preparing the food, we understood, it's a Saturday night. We placed our first call around 8:45 pm because we still hadn't gotten a dasher assigned, it said sending two but the restaurant never said the order was ready. Whoever we spoke to on the phone was nasty! We politely were inquiring about what time it would be ready, and the reply was "it will get there when it gets there" and she hung up on us. 9:08 pm. Still no completion on restaurants end, no dasher, no food, hungry me. We call again. New person. Well, our food has been ready "for a while" but we weren't able to get an exact time that it had been ready since and she "swears she pressed it was ready for pickup". Conveniently, the order is assigned a dasher during the phone call. So now $70 later, patiently awaiting our food, which probably has been sitting out for at least an hour, and no remedy in sight. As of 9:26, he finally is heading to us. Majorly disappointed how we were treated, considering we are frequent customers.

    Red Curry Noodle Bowl

I go here way too much. New favorite thai place by far! They're speedy and all of their food is amazing. I ventured beyond the usual pad thai into my now favorite tofu curry noodle bowl. And for any vegetarians, the tofu that they use for the curry noodle bowl (when choosing tofu as a protein) is thick and chewy and firm. Sometimes I order just the miso soup which is, beyond a doubt, the most flavorful, hearty, and affordable miso soup I've ever had from a restaurant. The service is quick, there's parking in the back and on the street, and though I wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing a group here to eat-in as the seating is super limited, I could not recommend this place more.

Basil Stir Fry w fried tofu and Massaman Curry wit soft tofu.
    E D.

First order from here. Ordered through door dash. Got the Massaman Curry and Basil Stir Fry both with tofu and medium spice. Things arrived hot and well packaged. The Basil Stir Fry I asked for the tofu to be fried which not sure if it is defaulted to that or not. I consider this a "miss" and would not recommend or order again. It was almost entirely tofu with 2 small specks of broccoli. No distinctive flavor and no heat at all. The Massaman curry had great flavor and although I asked for fried tofu it was soft tofu and they called that right -- it should be w soft tofu. Again I asked for medium heat and it had zero heat. It said made w potatoes but I've always had it w sweet potatoes which I thought was traditional. This had white potatoes but still delish. I'd order this again. The vegetable egg roll was good and easily 2x the size of a tradition one. The hot mustard and sweet sir sauce was good. So 2 of 3 items I would recommend. It's a new place so maybe things are getting sorted out. I do wish there was clearer ordering info of how to pick heat level -- I'd say a medium normally is a 5/10 and my medium was a 0/10.

This is a hidden gem-- unexpectedly fresh and tasty Carry Out that's served up very fast. Although the overall vibe Is "take-away fast" entrees, the premises provides a small but very classy waiting area / dining room lobby space with comfortable seating. Even though their Carry-Out is fast and delicious, one could have a satisfying dine-in experience, within pleasant atmosphere. Bottled soft drinks are also available.

We ordered the rare beef noodle soup, a dish with spicy fish, and a clay pot brisket dish. Rare beef noodle soup: (3/5) This dish came with sliced rare beef, onions, bean sprouts, noodles, veggies, and a few other things. The soup was kind of bland and the beef portions were kind of small. The noodles were also average. Spicy fish dish: (5/5) It was indeed spicy and the fish and vegetables were delicious. The fish was tender and had a nice texture unlike some other restaurants that just heat things up in a bag. Brisket clay pot: (5/5) The brisket was super tender and tasty. The vegetables and radish that came with it also had a nice flavor. I know few restaurants that can make this dish as good as this one. Service: (4/5) Our server came to refill water frequently and checked in on us. Ambiance: (3/5) It was nice and quiet since we came close to closing time. One of the employees was eating in the back. The interior was clean though the bathrooms were kind of wet and they had no paper towels and had a moldy hand dryer. Just so you know, they don't have hot tea for free.

We were really looking forward to a Cambodian restaurant and saw that they had one in Cleveland. It's a beautiful restaurant in a busy street. Like I mentioned before, staff was really nice. Actually, it was 1 male server that was doing everything from hosting, taking orders, serving, and everything else while juggling different customers. Surprisingly, service was very quick. It went down from there. None of the dishes were authentic. They said that they had to accommodate the clientale around there and therefore, it's more americanized. If we had wanted authentic dishes, we would have to call in advance to place that order so that they can pull things from the freezer and prepare it. Why would we do that? It was our first time there. We thought it'll be just like every other restaurant. You go in, order what's on the menu, and expect that to come out. Not ask for fried fish and they tell you that it's still in the freezer. Or, ask for Amok and they said that they only make 10 (or was it 20?) per day, but someone had called in advance the day before to order them all. Even their Somlor Machu Kreung only had celeries as their vegetables because they said thrakhoun would just spoil. At least add some jalapenos, green papaya, tomatoes, etc to it. In addition, all the food proportions were so small. It's definitely not family-style dishes. Oh yes, I do not understand why their basil chicken fried rice was red and looking like tomato paste. Perhaps it's a Cleveland thing? I'm from the South and we do not make our basil fried rice like that. Flavors were okay for some dishes and other dishes were just plain. I was embarassed to even bring my family here. We will not be coming here again.

Ice or Rice is located in Cleveland's Asiatown, surrounded by many other Asian restaurants, and has a non-descript exterior and a basic AF interior. There is also only street parking so be aware of that. I was the only customer at 1pm on a Sunday. It only took about 8 minutes for my order to be ready and packaged to go. I was going to order a poke bowl but decided against it when I saw how few ingredients there were. No edamame? Heresy! So at the last minute, I changed my plans and ordered the Thai Dog ($7) and a Spam Musubi ($4.50) and took them home with me to eat for lunch/dinner. The Thai Dog was a generously sized hot dog on a white bun with some pickled vegetables, smothered in 3 different sauces (although I did ask for light sauce). I thought it was delicious, if about $2 overpriced. I ate the Spam Musubi piece for dinner and although also very yummy (I forgot how much I enjoy the smokiness of spam!), this was definitely overpriced at $4.50. I have seen spam musubi usually cost about $3. I won't harp on too much about the price though. Haha! There are lots of other restaurants in the area but Ice or Rice is centrally located and is great for grab and go meals. I LOVE all the Hawaiian dishes on there as well! I think I would come back to try another unique item if I am in the area in the future.

The owner said that she can make it for us, but suggested that since mangoes are not in season, they don't taste the greatest right now, so she suggested strawberries. Makes sense, so we went with it. The coffee jelly was strong and creamy. It was good. The flan was also very good. Being Filipino, I'm used to a richer and silkier flan. This Japanese version was lighter, but still pretty silky. The strawberry shaved ice is huge! Good for sharing. Their shaved ice is such a fine and perfect texture that I've never had anywhere else. Usually, shaved ice I've had in the past is at least partially crunchy. Their shaved ice here is very fine - like freshly fallen, powdery snow. Great stuff! Will be back!

When I opened the menu, I was sad to see the galbi lunch box - my former go-to - was no longer an option. So I had to settle for one of the other lunch boxes - spicy pork bulgogi. Though the spicy pork bulgogi wasn't as delicious as the galbi (I LOVE Ha Ahn's galbi), it was still a delight to my taste-buds. Regular bulgogi can sometimes be a little too sweet for me, but the spice offered a nice contrast and balance to the sweetness of the meat, which was tender and juicy. In addition to a sizeable portion of pork, my lunch box came with a salad, a crispy mandu, kimchi, seaweed salad, and a scoop of steamed white rice. It was more than enough food to leave me satisfied, especially when combined with the fresh banchan, which included some greens, more kimchi, some sort of steamed egg dish, spicy daikon, and sliced fish cakes. Along with great food, the restaurant provided great service. Our server kept the refills of hot tea (complimentary!) coming. But please bring back the galbi lunch box!!

First of all, the place is beautiful. You will want to stand and stare a minute when you first arrive, from the cherry blossoms overhead to the gorgeous art painted on the walls. We were welcomed immediately and seated quickly. Our waitress was attentive and efficient, again this was no small task with a bit group at a very busy time. She made great recommendations and we started with several appetizers for the table: Crab rangoon Mozzarella stick, Goyza, and crunchy rice with avocado. They were all good and cooked to perfection, but the Crab Rangoon Mozzarella sticks were show stoppers. This is fun fusion at its finest, and everyone agreed we could have just lived on those. We had to put in sushi orders early as there was a bit of a backup with the kitchen, but our server did a great job of keeping us informed about the timing and made all the entrees work out so people getting hot dishes got them at the same time as people who ordered cold dishes. I had the sora roll which is another great fashion dish with a simple tempura shrimp and avocado roll upscaled by adding thin slices of wagyu beef, spicy mayo and dark sweet soy. I loved the combo. My wife had the peking duck and said it was fantastic with a good bit of flavor and a hint of kick, cooked to perfection so it didn't get dry. My son had the mushroom risotto which he said was very flavorful, and carried a bit of asian spiciness. Other people at the table had sushi, the katsu chicken, and the crab fried rice. No one was disappointed! Finally my wife and I split the smoked creme brûlée and all I can say is, you should save room for dessert because this was a fantastic spin on a classic! The only thing I would note is that it's not a quiet restaurant. Do not expect to have a hushed or private conversation here, but even with the big group I could still hear everyone, so it's not like it's ear splitting or anything. Honestly, every part of this experience impressed me and I would love to go back next time I'm in town.
