Stopped in while randomly looking for a brunch spot. As soon as we opened the Yelp app we found this place and once again, Yelp was right on. The staff was incredibly helpful, energetic and cordial. The shrimp and grits were outstanding and among the best I've ever had. The dirty chia latte was dead on. The vibe and decor is perfect for the treehouse setting the surrounds the area and although I'm not typically one to eat outside the environment was perfect. I've been going to duck for 20 years and never found this area behind Scarborough fair. Really cute courtyard with a fountain and really nice shops and also great coffee at treehouse. We got two coffees and an ice tea as well as some French toast and everything was delicious. No complaints and highly recommend the spot to anybody that goes to duck. read more

Coffee was great and basis item for most breakfast orders is a biscuit that is huge. Very busy in the morning, took 35 mins from arrival to getting our food but it was worth the wait on an intimidatingly long line. My wife and 6 kids and I had breakfast. We arrived about 8:45 and had to wait a little over an hour for food to arrive. Food was very good but don't expect service as the boys bringing food out only drop off food and don't ask if you have everything you need also need to get your own silverware before going to find a seat. They had posted a sign saying it would take at least 25 min then after 50 min as kids were getting anxious I went to ask if order was close and they had changed the sign to 40 min and said it was next up - so the sign is a bit deceptive especially for families who may have a harder time being patient for that long. I had high hopes for this coffee shop. It looks the part and uses the best coffee roasters (Counter Culture and Parlor). I have gone 4 days in a row ordering a Cappuccino each day. The first Cappuccino was good, not bitter and you could taste the highlights of the coffee. The milk was frothed to a decent micro-foam. The next three have progressively been worse, the last being so bitter I couldn't drink it. Two of the days had the same barista. The latter two had another. It is hard to make that bad of a Cappuccino with that good of beans. There were several other issues such as people confused about their drinks and taking the wrong ones. While heading through Duck NC on the North Carolina Outer Banks I needed to meet my coffee fix! I had read about the Treehouse Coffee shop but have never stopped. Treehouse is located in a really cool wooded area of duck with many other shops connected by a boardwalk walk path. The atmosphere of this little shop is awesome and really relaxing. As for the coffee... Well they use Counter Culture Roasters out of North Carolina which as far as i'm concerned is one of the best coffee roasters on the East Coast. I ordered a Kenyan Coffee which they were out of so I received a fresh pour over instead. Hey I'll take a pour over any day over a normal cup of coffee. The coffee was great and packed with fruit notes as it should be. Counter Culture does a great job and this little coffeehouse makes it all the better! Overall I think I have found my new favorite coffee house of the Northern Outer Banks. I will be back again for sure if ever in this area of Duck NC. read more

The coffee, cappuccino, and apple crumble cake were all okay. Nothing to complain about but not crazy good either. Mostly my complaint is about the ambiance. The place was FILTHY, so dirty my husband and I weren't sure where to sit. There were at least 5 workers standing around doing nothing (not to mention unfriendly as well) as there was no one else in the cafe except one man on a laptop off in a corner. My husband and I don't bar hop like most so we find joy in cute coffee spots sharing a pastry and warm beverage, however we were asked if our order was for in house or takeout, in which we replied for in house. Yet, all of our items were served in takeout containers. I was truly hoping to sip my cappuccino from a mug with my plated crumble cake, however that was not the case and it's just not the same sipping/eating from paper/plastic containers. Why even ask if it were for here or Togo? Not to mention the waste. Lastly, the water cups (which were glass and not paper) were DISGUSTING. Every single one I picked up was sticky around the brim with dust/hair particles on them it was so bad. The drinks and pastry were good, only reason im giving it 3 stars. Treehouse Coffee Co. Is tucked away in a cozy little plaza in Duck. The decor is trendy and the cashier was welcoming. Unfortunately, our experience was not as positive as other reviewers. Our order was sent to the cook incorrectly and, as a result, we had to wait 10 minutes for one of the breakfast sandwiches. Other orders were sent out before the cook corrected ours, making it a frustrating experience. The food itself was mediocre. The Treehouse Toast consists of egg, avocado, and burrata cheese. Mint was found in the sandwich, which made it taste very odd. We're not sure if mint is supposed to be in the sandwich; I'm hoping this was a mistake. We also ordered bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on an English muffin. They were bland. The drinks, however, were great. I highly recommend the Breve and hot cocoa. Both were equally delicious and bumped my review to 2 stars. I will not be returning to Treehouse Coffee Co. After a mistake (made by Treehouse) that wasn't prioritized and dull sandwiches, I'm sure I can find a restaurant will provide a better experience. read more

Have you ever heard of "Pour Over Coffee"? No? Well, neither have I. The process of making it is fascinating. First, you choose your coffee bean. Then they grind it. A coffee filter is placed into this uniquely designed individual mugs with a hole at the bottom. Your freshly ground coffee goes in there and as the hot water is being Poured into that mug, a little coffee pot waits underneath it and collects this delicate, smooth tasting coffee. Now, the cold brew is even more amusing to watch, as the chilled water drips into cylinders of ground coffee and flows through coiled glass and finally into a glass coffee pot like a chemistry lab project. We saw that the Rope & ladder kitchen was closed but then found this by accident. They are one in the same. We were nervous about the line but it was fine. After ordering our various egg sandwiches and coffee we waited 20 minutes for the food. About the time, I'd imagine, it would have been for table service. Biscuits are huge and sweet. One note is that the yelp menu listed family breakfast combos that included Buscuits, meats and other items.
