I would disregard most of the 1 Star reviews here and say they seem to either not understand what a coffee shop is or not understand what Saturday in OBX is like. I am so upset I didn't discover this place until our last morning in Duck! The food is delicious and the kombucha and coffee is great, too. I honestly wish I could have tried everything on the menu--they had some unique (but delicious sounding) breakfast options. We have been to Treehouse numerous times over the time span that it has been open. The food deserves 4+ stars, as the egg dishes are fresh and delicious and very inventive. My one star is with the service. And I hope that the owner reads Yelp reviews, as they have a gem of a location and vibe, but my entire group of seven was so turned off by the service from start to finish. Orders are placed at the register upon arrival, and then one takes a table to await for their food. At the register, we were NOT greeted in any friendly manner by a young woman with short red hair (I'm only using a descriptive, as name tags are not worn, and if this were my own business, I would want to know who was turning away customers). As we began to place our orders, she discouraged us from staying by telling us "the wait for your food order will be 45 minutes, actually, AT LEAST 45 minutes". Since this is the last day for some of friends, we opted to stay. There was a table large enough for 7 - perfect. There was a dirty half filled coffee mug, along with a dirty napkin and half used water cups on the table. The table was in the front part of the restaurant, where the cashier and barista could plainly see. We had to bus someone else's dirty dishes and wipe down the table ourselves. Happily, our food came out in less than 10 minutes. And, again, 4+ stars on the food. But the owner had a potential to loose $140 sale AND loyal customers what with the attitude and discouragement of the young woman taking orders, and the lack of table service/cleanliness. The food we got was soooo good we had to come back the next day for breakfast again before leaving our vacation. We probably would've come back another day if we had discovered the place earlier. The first day I got the special, a chicken biscuit with local honey and my husband got the bacon cheddar omelette. His came with a biscuit and both of our plates had two slices of fresh cantaloupe. Both meals were amazing. I was jealous of the bacon in my husbands meal so I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit the next day and my husband ordered the omelette again (it was that good). There was a lot of egg on the sandwich so it was pretty substantial. The bacon they use is thick, I'm not talking thick cut kind you get from the grocery store, but actually thick and smoked. It's melt in your mouth wonderful. First time my husband got cold brew coffee and he loved it. The second day we showed up a little earlier and it was a bit more crowded. My real quibble is that when you pay, there is a screen that shows the total only. It doesn't show the items ordered or the tax separate from the pretotaled items. They will not give you a paper receipt only a text or emailed one which means they have no respect for one's private information and you have to wait for when they send it to you. So if you don't get what you ordered you have no recourse to argue since your receipt may not be immediatly available should you had given them you personal phone numbers or email address(( that you have to worry would be sold to spammers). Then because you can't separate what the tax is vs the food totals, it makes it hard to figure out the tip(which despite what some catty waitresses have said on line and other venues, should be figured pretax not post tax). The food was okay, the wait was 25 minutes or what they had advertised on their message placard at the register...so no justifiable complaint there. But when I complained about not having a paper receipt the waitress flat toned insisted I wasn't going to get one. I'm sure she felt justified that one less paper receipt not given out had just saved a sea turtle someplace. Not being able to immediately see what I had ordered with prices and figures meant that I had to "guess" what the tip should have been. I did ask if the tip suggestions shown on the screen were pre or post tax and after some hemming or hawing she said.."after tax". Not knowing what the state and meals tax was in Duck, NC because that info was not going to be shown to me by the obviously woke and enviromentally conscious young miss, I made the best guess I could as to what the tip should be. Perhaps the tip should have been more or less...but I had no information other than a best guess! read more

Came for breakfast on a Tuesday morning in August. It was a bit of a rough start but the food ended up being really satisfying! We waited in line for 30 minutes and then ordered up front. They said it would take 35 minutes to get our food, but it took 25 minutes. It was kind of hard to find a table, many were full and many had people's dishes on them and took a while to be cleared away. The $5 Cold brew had ice from top to bottom- very strong though. They had no pancakes or waffles on this day, just French toast, and I was really hoping for a sweet breakfast. Instead, I had a biscuit with ham, egg, and honey, which came with pineapple. It was all so good, and I added some jelly/jam from the table. They perfectly fried the egg, the ham was thick and flavorful, a bit salty, but I enjoyed it! In my experience, my daughter and I went at 12:00 on Wednesday were they turned us away. We thought they were opened to 1:00. We looked at the electric sign were the hours are posted and it said it closed at 12:00. We decided we will get it tomorrow and looked and the sign that said they were closed at 1:00 tomorrow. It is the next day and we go at 12:03 and it is closed. The woman who owns this location confirmed that she did change her hours after a staff meeting and turned us away again. She lost around $16.00. I now understand why they have an electric sign, so they change their hours at a moment notice. If you choose to visit, I wish you luck that you can guess their hours. A very good coffee shop in the Scarborough Faire shops in Duck. There's little in the way of free Wi-Fi in the Outer Banks so come for the coffee. They have a large variety of slow drip brews and the usual choices as well. The prices are comparable to Starbucks but it's much more unique and worth your visit and money. read more

Awesome coffee! This is my favorite coffee in OBX (and we've tried a few...). Atmosphere amongst the Scarborough Faire ships is fun, with a nice porch along the side overlooking the little fountain and garden area. You can get anything from a cold brew to a pour over. We just had the drip coffee and it was great. Food from the rope ladder (attached) is great too, but took a long time to get (30+ min). The biscuits are fantastic, if you're up for a wait.
