I needed my trees trimmed. They had not been cared for in a long time. I called 3 different, local companies to provide me with bids for this job. Tom from Trees "R" Us, Inc. came out and the first thing he told me was that it was too late in the season to trim the big oak tree. I contacted him just now, in early spring, and he remembered the job, but wanted to come out an take another look. He did so and told me that the oak is still dormant and that he could do it. He scheduled me for the following week. His crew came out and trimmed all of my large trees. They had modern equipment and the right gear. They couldn't use their cherry-picker truck in the back due to my septic field, so they climbed and cut. Up front they were able to use the bucket. The crew did a superb job on all of the trees! When there were questions I had they were addressed immediately and professionally. The work was top-notch and so was the clean-up. this company was contracted by our local electric coop, they came out we made the following agreements: -no oak trees was to be cut down, only faced. -all firewood was to be left and brush hauled away -all stumps and stupa to be ground down (no tire poppers or anything to destroy a mower deck) -no damage to fence They totally disregarded what was written, -they cut down (4) large oak trees 14-20" in diameter at the base -they left brush -no firewood was left -fence was damaged they claimed to grind the stumps but they still are 4-6" above grade. and there's dozens of small diameter tire poppers. read more

I had trees r us cut down a huge dead oak tree I had in my backyard. I asked them before hand if they could be careful because I have two little kids who run around the backyard and last thing I needed for there to be a hole where they were working and for a kid to sprain an ankle or something. Well, they did a great job cutting the tree and they left me some wood to burn too. BUT, they did cause a lot of damage to my lawn. That IVE WORKED SUPER hard to maintain. My landscaper is charging me to fill it with dirt and spread seeds on it but, this could've been avoided. read more

Nope they don't call you a lot they just come when scheduled (weather permitting) and do their work. They are fast, CLEAN UP IS FANTASTIC and very very good. We had a huge 75' Honey Locus that had to be dropped in a tight space (near our fence/house and neighbor's driveway/house) and these guys dropped her branch by branch not wrecking anything. My neighbors were so impressed they asked for cards. The guy that came out a few days later to grind out the stump did a really good job, fast, friendly, professional and again just came out and did their job. Don't call you or keep in touch but that means that there is less "bother". We over saw their work and these guys are 5 STARS. Des Plaines hired them to remove trees around the neighborhood. While they were cutting one down in from of the house, one of the branch fell on the basketball post and bend it. Now its completely broken. My son who plays basketball called Nick (one of the owners). This was the one and only contact he made. Nick said he would send his supervisor to take a look and get back to us. He never did. My son repeateadly called and left left messages. No one picks up. May be good at their job, but not on taking actions for the mishaps they caused. read more

With two huge trees and two smaller trees taken down today, I simply watched the men work in the heat on the back lawn with my water bottle. Those guys worked so hard from 6 am-7 pm in the 100 degree heat today, made nice with the neighbors, cleaned up after themselves, and still managed to get all that done in one day. We had some weird fungus growing on our prized magnolia tree which needed attention. They explained what it was, what they planned on spraying it with, when they would do it and if it would bother our family or pets. They seem just as concerned about my family and pets health and well-being as I was. This made me feel very comfortable about what was being done to save our tree and not harm our family in the process. They also returned to check to see the progress of the treatment plan and make sure the fungus was diminishing. Now that's customer service because I didn't even ask for that! Last Fall, I gathered 5 quotes to replace a Birch tree lost due to age. Trees R Us was surprisingly competitive and customer feedback from Angie's List were positive. So, we hired them. A different tree service had removed the tree months earlier and did not do a good job removing the roots. The team from Trees R Us had to dig twice as deep as they quoted, but did not charge us a penny more. This Spring, we noticed the tree was suffering, dropping leaves and turning brown. We called them for advice. Arborist Rick called immediately and stopped by to check on it. He called back immediately and reminded us that even though it has been a wet Spring, River Birch's can never get enough water. We needed to give it more water right away. He also reminded us that the tree was guaranteed and if we could not save it, it would be replaced. My husband and I immediately started using a water stick for deep watering and within just a week, our little Birch is doing remarkably well. It is going to survive just fine. Our experience with Trees R Us was fantastic and we plan to go to Rick at Trees R Us for all our planting needs going forward. Zero Stars - This company came to grind a stump in front of my house without any prior warning. I had my car parked on the street approximately 5 feet from where they were grinding. They damaged my car and refuse to take responsibility for it. Lousy way to do business!! I do not recommend them to anyone! read more

Zero stars... Sadly we cannot recommend this company, despite our initial satisfaction with their tree trimming services. As we continued to work with the company, they recommended treating a failing river birch. After multiple treatments, it was obvious they were ineffective and we questioned why the treatments continued along with charging us. After talking to the office/bookkeeper, we were told our $50 balance would be removed. Not receiving additional invoices, we trusted the matter had been resolved as promised, and decided we would give them a second chance for additional tree trimming services. Tom informed us that we had an outstanding balance - did not acknowledge the significantly sized bill that was paid promptly for the initial work and didn't believe that his office had agreed to waive the final portion of the work we believed to be unnecessary. Since the $50 was so important, we sent it but will be taking our future business to a company that follows through on their word. read more

I wanted to buy firewood from this company as well, communication between the employees is poor. We (Manager and I) had agreed upon a delivery of a face chord on Saturday 12/6/2014 between 8 and 9 a.m. for $192. I received a call Friday at noon (from another person) that they would be at our home in 30 minutes. I stated that we had agreed on Saturday between 8 and 9 a.m. They stated that it wasn't in their notes, but that they'd be there tomorrow within that hour. I called their office (another person) Saturday morning at 9:15 asking where the wood was. She contacted the manager. I ran errands, and didn't not hear back from them. Then my wife calls at 10:40, they are here. I stated the guys in the truck should not toss out the wood and call the manager to ask for a discount since the agreement was not met and my time had been wasted. The manager did not allow for a discount, therefore the wood was not bought. They lost a customer forever. I asked for a time, date, and face chord for $192, they agreed. They broke the agreement, were not willing to please the client, I will not use them. I'm in the service industry, I have expectations. read more
