Served family style, there was plenty to go around and even take left overs home for that late night craving. Service was speedy and staff always friendly and hospitable. I've waited a year to write this review. I wanted to make sure my anger had died down, but I'm still disgusted a full year later. We made a reservation for Thanksgiving 2024. It was the first year we didn't have family in town, so we were REALLY looking forward to a treat. They didn't have online reservations so I called, and had the gentleman read back the date, time, and name/number - which he did. We show up Thanksgiving Day and were told we didn't have a reservation. After some back and forth (they seemed to recognize who I had spoken to) we were seated at a table just outside the kitchen. It appeared to have been a staging table, as they hastily cleared it and it was bare of cutlery. We should have left. I appreciated being seated, but it went downhill from there. First, it took ages to take our drink order. We also noticed several empty tables in the main dining area although no one offered to move us. Dinners were at set times so it wasn't like anyone would be coming in. Next, we were served very small quantities of mediocre food. We had to ask for cutlery. We never got any rolls, butter, or cranberry sauce. The turkey was a few slices and a drumstick between both of us. At this point we figured they assumed we never had a reservation and were treating us accordingly. We've been to Trees many times but this was deplorable. The owner stopped by our table and asked if we were still hungry, then brought out some extra turkey for my husband. We told her our reservation had been lost, which you would think would prompt some attempt to make things better. No, in fact it didn't seem to phase her. We were both feeling ripped off, angry at the service, and shortchanged on food. The final straw was us seeing other tables with stacks of food, ample leftovers, and all the trimmings - cranberry sauce, rolls, butter, gravy, etc. That just infuriated us, as it was obvious we had been treated poorly on purpose. I'm usually very understanding when reservations snafus happen, but the way we were treated compared to other patrons prompts me to write this review. We will never return to Trees and have told many people about this experience. I would caution anyone planning a holiday dinner there to think twice. Thanks Trees for ruining a Thanksgiving. read more

I absolutely adore this restaurant. First of all, it's not a chain. Second of all the food is always interesting and very tasty. The service is fantastic. We had shrimp and grits the garlic bread and butter, tomato bisque soup, fish, and chips and my grandson had the corn dogs and we were all thrilled. Go! you won't regret it. BUT when you double charge a customer (accidental) and the customer has to call twice and leave messages, then do not call the customer back to make it right...that's just bogus. I had to dispute on the credit card rather than them taking opportunity to provide excellent service for an obvious error. read more

Our first time at tree's, we really wanted to like this place but it fell short in a lot of areas. Their sister location was smockville and it closed earlier in the summer but the staff had smockville shirts on, and the menu and receipts still advertised the location. Service was SLOW. It took a while to be seated with no wait, a while to get our beers, and the server forgot to bring out our salad before the dinner, we had to ask for it. The beers tasted off, and the New York strip was undercooked, salty, and we would have preferred to have the steak served whole vs sliced on the plate. We stopped here for their happy hour. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the tree salad , watermelon Margarita and a beer and the calamari appetizer. Prices are reasonable. The shrimp and grits needed to be a bit more seasoned and creamier in texture.The calamari while fresh, was a bit grainier than I like. The cornmeal was crunchy. My watermelon margarita was too syrupy sweet. We also split a pecan pie ala mode which was fine. The setting is beautiful and they allow pets on the patio which is a bonus. Service is slow it took 1/2 hour waiting for the dessert. We will go back with the pups and try something else in the future. read more

I LOVE TREE'S for lunch or HAPPY HOUR. In the Summer if you sit outside you are in a forest of TREE'S and you feel like you are somewhere other than Sherwood. I like the Shrimp N' Grits and Calamari. Drinks are okay. They used to have a Sunday Brunch Bloody Mary Bar where you build your own (Not sure if they still do that, but they SHOULD). Delicious meal in a beautiful setting at a reasonable price! A group of us went for dinner and we were very happy we chose Trees. Even the indoor dining area has a beautiful view of the trees. The staff were very pleasant and flexible to accommodate special requests. And the food was delicious. The chef/owner is very talented and can accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions. A few of our group had the jambalaya, a few had shrimp and grits, one had the peach stuffed pork chop, one had the salmon (blackened per special request), and a couple had sandwiches. Absolutely amazing visit at the Tree's!! From the outside lights to the inside decor and overall feel was so beautiful. My family celebrated a birthday and had great accommodations for my 3 year old. Her food was put in first with a 2lb order of clams as an appetizer and both came out right as we were ready to enjoy and order entrees! We all ordered different things. Shrimp and grits, pork chop, chimichurri chicken, seafood jumbo, and blackened catfish. All were so fantastic and full of flavor.. the only thing missing was I didn't take the food pictures for this review. Stunning Steak Salad! Apologies for the less than perfect picture but two bites in, I had to stop and write a review. Whomever put this steak salad together is an absolute flavor genius! 3 perfectly prepared steak medallions next to beautiful and fresh butter lettuce with a creamy balsamic dressing topped with Gorgonzola and fried onions and fresh cherry tomatoes and cucumber on the side, allowing you build your perfect bite. There are very few moments in life that have given me my own "Ratatouille" movie moment but this restaurant did it today and I am eternally grateful. Also, don't sleep on the bread and butter service bc if you like (or love) hot freshly baked bread with a side of fresh chive butter, the $3.50 is nothing for that little flavor bomb. Pictures may not do their dish flavors justice anyway, but the blackened chicken salad...mmm, delish with freshness in this current heat wave with juicy perfectly cooked chicken. Our super kind and relatable server Tina helped us decide from the very unique list of cocktails. I recommend the Trees Breeze, a cranberry refresher cocktail. Tina also recommended the Tortuga Bread which was super fresh buttery bread of garlic, bacon, and cheese! The patio is surrounded by tall trees and chirping birds, an oasis right off highway 99 in Sherwood. Go!-It's so worth it! And thank you Tina for a great experience! read more

My first time at The Trees Restaurant was Sunday afternoon. The ambiance is good. The service was Fair, I Ordered a Small Caesar Salad to go with the meal but never showed up. The food was fine, I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheese Butger on a Ciabatta Roll. I'm not much into Ciabatta Rolls for a burger, but that's me. all in all, the meal was fine but if you have been out to Helvetia Oregon you'd understand. What negatively struck me the most was the brevity of the menu itself. The limited number of items on the Lunch was astounding to me. There is a separate menu for Drinks, & Desserts. which is well populated with items, but the Restaurant brags about their Homemade Ice Cream, so take a guess what item IS NOT listed in the Dessert Menu. If you want some, there is a freezer at the entrance where you can purchase some. Our guests, one of which was celebrating a birthday, wanted a dish of ice cream but had to order something else instead. I stated that she had to ORDER another item, they apparently do not have the facilities for such events as other restaurants do. read more

I liked it, but it could use some help. It was recommended to me by a coworker and all in all I'm pretty happy with my experience. It wasn't easy to find, very little signage and an odd location, perhaps the focus is more on catering. Pros Good food, I've never enjoyed coleslaw before today Great staff Fast and good quantity for its price Cons Gross sticky bathrooms Soggy reheated fish for my fish N' chips, it taste good but I was told they're dumping it from the menu, I would have loved to try it fresh I definitely plan to come back for their happy hour menu. Second trip here came last week. The owner/ cook once she found out my boyfriend was diabetic she offered to fix him a sugar free desert we just needed to email her when we were coming. I tasted it sooo good! THANK YOU. She also said her shrimp and grits was a popular item so he got that and I sampled it very good. I am getting that next time. Went in for a drink and dessert on a date night around 730pm. Service was incredibly slow and there was almost no one else there. Drinks and dessert were fine. Nothing special, will have to try again in the summer because the deck area outside looks like a nice place to hang out. read more

I finally had the opportunity to try. Tranquil and cozy, a comfortable setting in all seasons. Our waiter was very patient with our large group, especially as there were elderly and those who did not speak English. The shrimp and grits were good, but seemed to lack a bit of "pop" like the version at Pine State Biscuits. Most people seemed to enjoy what they ordered for lunch, entrees covered the spectrum from salads, burgers, and sandwiches. We bought a pint ($8) of homemade coffee and toffee ice cream, the toffee just seemed to consist of crumbled pieces on top and not throughout. They've garnered some terrible reviews, but this is often the norm with beautiful scenery restaurants, i.e., they rest their laurels on that draw and not the food or service. This was my first visit and I loved sitting outdoors where you can overlook a beautiful small forest with huge trees. Server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food is phenomenal. My friends' choices included the grilled salmon and Southern fried chicken and gravy. Being from Louisiana, I was curious about the shrimp and grits. Found out the chef studied in New Orleans, so I gave them a try. Succulent shrimp with creamy, buttery grits--to die for! The service was fantastic but the main course was meh, I got the lasagna which tasted bad and the Manila clams half didn't open up and the broth was sour, others complained on their meals as well, go for the apps and drinks for happy hour and great service. I have to admit that I couldn't find the forest or the Trees. After earlier reviews described this as a special place in Sherwood (non-chain, a little more upscale), it is embarrassing how long it took me to "find" Trees, especially when I regularly have business in the Hunter's Ridge center. It is in the corner of the complex at the turnaround in the parking lot behind the Aqua Salon & Day Spa, whose signage is much more obvious. After my false starts, I've visited for both lunch in the bar and dinner in the dining room during the past few months. And I wish my experience was better. In both cases, my meals were over salted and there were some service issues. In particular, the bar area adjoins the open kitchen and I guess it is one of those cases of the employees forgetting that customers are present and can hear all of their conversations, which at times was unpleasant. Also, when I had a question about one of the items on the plate, I felt that my concern was dismissed out of hand. I will probably head back for another try when the weather turns warm and I can check out their patio or happy hour. Sadly, not the tops of my list in Sherwood, thus far. read more

It's just not the first place that springs to mind when I think about heading to a restaurant. When I think about it, It's probably the atmosphere, the few times I've been there it's been so quiet and dull. I'll go back and certainly won't put anybody else off from going there as like I said the service and food was totally fine. I had heard such wonderful reviews of this restaurant located away from the city that when I went to visit family in Portland, I had them take me to some of their most authentic places. Sad to admit, although the ambiance was lovely, I was super disappointed by the food and the overall service. In our party of four adults who arrived around 1:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon, we waited over an hour to be served our meal. The party of three women that came in about 20 minutes after us, and who had all ordered hamburgers, were served and eating, and nearly finished their entire meals before our table was ever served. The waiter completely forgot to put in our order despite there being only 3 full tables in the entire restaurant. I was super disappointed in the experience and do not plan to ever return. read more
