If you want actual customer service, go to Trek Vienna (my #1) or Trek Georgetown (my #2)--Clarendon doesn't even make the podium. I walked in expecting a welcoming environment based on other Trek stores. Instead, not a single person greeted me - not even eye contact. I brought my bike in for a quick, 5-minute post-purchase adjustment - gear lever was inexplicably sticking. The service tech's solution? An 18-day turnaround time - even though I clearly stated it was not a Level 1 tune-up. I'm still trying to figure out if they have massive backlogs or just massive incompetence. I went to Georgetown and they did it in 10 minutes AND had an 8 day turnaround time for a Level 1 tune up. read more

The trek store is my area had poor customer service and said they needed 1 week to assemble a bike. So i called around and Clarendon's Trek has the bike but also needed assembly. Since it was a birthday present the staff was so kind he obliged to have it ready in an hour!! An hour!! We were thrilled and drove all the way there. Also my son couldnt ride it yet but the staff was so kind to support him while testing it out unlike the other Trek that gave a dirty look and told us he couldnt test the bike in store. I highly recommend the store!! We also purchased a helmet and bike bell, where they had a nice selection!! read more

I went to this shop to diagnose a weird clicking sound that only happened randomly when riding my bike. The first time I went, the shop was not able to replicate the issue and said all was fine. I went home though and the bike continued to click.... I started riding another bike since it seemed the issue couldn't be resolved. I really like the bike though, a super old Bridgestone BB1. I decided to ride it to the store, and record the clicking on my phone while riding. I showed the video to the guys and the person there instantly knew what the issue was, I needed a new cog! The guy was super apologetic that the shop couldn't diagnose it the first time and replaced the cog for free, part and labor! Wonderful ending and they have a customer for life!!!! read more

I had my Domane AL4 rebuilt bc of all the miles I put on it in a year. There was a scratchy noise when breaking the following week from receiving it, and they identified the problem within 24 hours. They also had integrity, and found my Tiffany&Co ring I had lost in my Barr Mitts. Not only do they provide practical, knowledgeable service with a smile, they also gave me hot chocolate in a Trek team mug - on the house when I came into the store that day. Well, if it wasn't below freezing outside and I could get out and ride I'd be happier, but the service and bike itself = tops. I never felt high pressure to buy anything, and my bike rides like a dream! She's so light and quick, and I just had no idea it could be this great. I have been in the market for a new bike for at least two years now. I started out seriously looking, but just felt so much pressure to buy (and to buy well outside my budget), or a certain level of snobbiness for not knowing and speaking all things bicycle. On top of that, I just wasn't finding a bike I loved that made all of that worth it for long enough to keep dealing with the salespeople. Alex was an amazing salesperson who talked me through various bikes, options, and accessories, and let me walk away with a great bike I love still slightly under my budget. I made my first visit to the Trek shop recently with two goals in mind: 1. Buy a helmet 2. Talk about options for buying a new bike I didn't really make it to #2. The employee helping me with the helmets had no useful advice about fit or size. He actually encouraged me twice to not try on multiple sizes. He seemed impatient. I figured there must be ways to check if a helmet fits correctly, similar to when you buy ski boots or a backpack or any other specialty equipment. This employee's method was to ask me if it "feels right." That was it. After feeling like the employee didn't give a shit about helping me find a helmet, I asked a few questions about bikes but knew I wasn't going to get much info from this person. Against my better judgement I bought a helmet and then left. Later on I noticed my receipt had a name and an email address for, I assume, a store manager or some such person. I emailed them a longer version of this review, expressing how disappointed I was with my experience. I haven't gotten a response, and that was a month ago. I think I'll find another bike shop. read more

Didn't keep their word. Free one year tune up was due in April 2020 and I missed it because of the pandemic. I called and was told then that I could bring it in after the pandemic was over, but when I called to arrange that in May 2021 just after getting vaccinated, they changed their mind saying "no way," that I could have used some kind of drop off service (which I was unaware of), and abruptly hung up before I could even inquire about paying for the tune up instead. I understand some businesses are swamped now, but they only had a 48 hour turnaround time when I called so that wasn't the case and I was flexible anyway. Very disappointed at them not keeping their word and hanging up on me before I could even offer to pay. read more

I love my Checkpoint SL5. The Staff did a great job guiding me to the cycle that would suit my needs. I don't love that I had to spend an hour and a half doing a full set up on the rear derailleur that had a loose cable and threw the chain in a modest 5 mile ride at River Legacy. I have ridden for many years and am just now getting back into the sport, but I know how to do the set up. Some one who was raw new into this would have had no inkling why it was throwing the chain. Even though it shifts like silk now I should not have needed to set up the derailleur on a new bicycle. read more

Kevin had me on a bike sized correctly for me, completed the paperwork, and handed me a great map of the Arlington Loop -- all in under 10 minutes. The bike, a Trek FX3, was in fabulous condition. It made my ride really pleasant. I'll be renting a bike here during my next visit to this super-active city. This place is worth going out of your way for! We live in a world where so often 'service' is a word you only find in a dictionary, not so when you visit the Service Department @ Revolution Cycles. Kyle and crew will go over and above to give you the service you deserve. I bought a used Trek a couple months ago and needed to take it for a service visit and pick up a few accessories; fenders, kick stand, gloves.etc. The guy I purchased it from told me he bought it @ Revolution Cycle and since it would be a year old in April, he still had one service visit left from the original purchase agreement. Since I live in Chantilly, the prospect of crosstown traffic made me think more than twice about making that trip on a beautiful springy Sunday afternoon. When I got there and discovered there was no parking, I'm thinking this may not have been one of my better ideas. After cruising around lovely Wilson Blvd, I finally found a side street by the Walgreens with adequate street parking...for free. With the original receipt in hand, I made my way to the back of the store to the service desk which was jumping like a herd of cats in a room full of rocking chairs. I explained to Kyle the reason for my visit...to which he replied 'too bad the guy who sold you the bike didn't tell you that service on this contract isn't transferable'.....thud! Kyle looks like he just walked off the rugby field, directing his service crew around like an air traffic controller at O'Hare. When I told Kyle I had driven from Chantilly and passed maybe a 1/2 dozen other bike shops on the way to his, he sized up the situation PDQ. What kind of problems are you having sir, I told him what I needed and while the words are coming out of my mouth he one-hands the bike on to the service bench and goes to work. If bike service were an art, you would call Kyle... Van Gogh. I got all my accessories installed, brake & derailieur adjustment plus a free bike map to boot inside of an hour. Though I didn't purchase the $100 bike cleaning kit, I'll give him kudos for making the pitch. Thanks to Dennis, I got the exact gel-pad gloves I need plus some valuable insights to the necessity of a U-Lock over all the others. Locks are for honest people he said. Ask him to explain why there are only three ways to get past a U-Lock and it's the only one that will keep your bike safe. If you need service on a bike, go to Revolution and ask for Kyle the Pit-Boss, you won't be disappointed. read more

Went in today to take a look at a new children's bike for my son. Excellent service and explanations of what they have, no aggressive salesmanship or anything that made me not want to come right back and buy one of the excellent bikes that they have after I look around a bit more. As for the bike, it was slightly less expensive and styled a lot more the way a 6 to 10-year-old boy would want to be styled than what I've seen at Spokes and Cante'. Had a fantastic experience today. Brought in a bike that needed two tires and they had them in stock and installed them quickly. They also noticed and tightened up the front brake caliper gratis. The team was welcoming and friendly, made a valid recommendation between tire options, and had me out the door faster than expected. They also communicated zero judgment at the non-brand bike or it's condition, and treated me as if I was a customer who brought in one of the absolutely beautiful Trek bikes they sell (were selling, in fact, as multiple other people made significant purchases while I waited). My wife and I had ordered a bike from our local Trek dealer, but due to the pandemic the bike was back ordered and would not be delivered for over a year. Our bike shop found the bike we were looking for at the Trek Bike shop in Arlington. Yesterday my wife and I took a road trip to Arlington to purchase this bike. We were greeted at the shop by Jeff and his associates as soon as we walked in the door. Following pandemic guidelines with all wearing masks and barriers set up where you only enter once an associate meets with you, we were treated with exemplary service. This is my very first Yelp review and I really hate to be negative but airing out severe faults and poor service of businesses is actually why I downloaded the app. I believe this more corporate style bike shop opened after a local "homebrew" type shop closed. Overall some of the staff is friendly although an employee snapped at me for touching a bicycle that was apparently there for service but was no way of telling. It would've been nice if there was a sign or something saying these bikes here for service, do not touch. It is very common for most bike shops to sell slightly used bikes or floor models so it's hard to tell. To the point of my rating, I have an all carbon road bike and it's probably 70% through its life expectancy, I started hearing a creaking noise that was very obviously coming from the crank area so I stopped into this shop to have them investigate. One of the technicians inspected the bike and took it for a test ride. His verdict was a "failing rear hub" and probably a faulty bearing inside where the pedals are located. His resolution was a new wheel set around -($900). Pre taxes and indefinite amount of service charge to replace the bearings. Basically recommending well over $1200 of work to an older bike that the original MSRP was around the 2K mark. Needless to say I asked for the bike back and left. A friend of mine recommended to take to another bike shop which I did yesterday, within 10 minutes at that non corporate style bike shop the technician made the creaking sound disappear by simply tightening one of the Allen screws on a pedal. I told him what the Trek technician advised to have replaced and he chuckled saying that was "absolutely ridiculous" and "this bike is fine". The shop location is in prime time Clarendon, I'm sure has very high monthly rent so pushes a very aggressive business/sales model to make the wealthy inhabitants of the area spend money even when it is not necessary. Absolutely a huge fan of this place. Brought my older, secondhand road bike in for some maintenance and admittedly, had a little bit of sticker shock when it came to the pricing for their maintenance, but was incredibly satisfied with the work they did to get my old bike running like new again. I have some pros and cons to this store. The first time I went, the service was great. The young man helping me was patient and explained everything. We decided on a pair of cycling shoes that he had to order. When I came to pick them up, there were 4 people in the store but no one helped. It didn't make sense because they were chatting in the back. I tried to get attention but, it took a long time. I am also a very patient person when it comes to this...and I felt a bit disrespected. I also paid to get the cleats put on the shoes. Something felt off with the shoes and I went to my bike actual mechanic. He said the cleats were put on wrong and without any oil. He had to redo everything. Thankfully he didn't charge me. The shoes feel great now and I feel comfortable clipping in and out. The products in the store are good but the service and capabilities of the mechanics are not. If you can go somewhere else, I would consider it. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Bought a *very* expensive children's bike here explicitly for the reason of "quality" and the "trade up" policy. I paid $260 for a bike for my 5 year old. Two years later, came to trade up. They advertise a 50% trade in value. Offered me 25% because the back wheel was locking up. They claim high price because of quality - the other daughter is on year 3 w a Walmart bike - ZERO mechanical issues and a fraction of the price. Guess what?! When I upgrade, I'm still ahead. Way ahead. The walmart bike cost $79, and the wheel rear doesn't lock up after 3 years. Revolutions, you ain't for me. Think twice before buying a bike here for your children you will have to upgrade in a year. Certainly don't consider the "trade in" policy if you do and don't buy into the "quality hype" for their kids bikes. read more

I've said this on Google reviews, and I'll say it again here on Yelp, because customer service coupled with fantastic products doesn't ever get any better than Trek's Clarendon Arlington shop's. I brought five Austin cyclists with me to ride the trails in and around the DC area for a week, and we needed six rental bikes to suit each individual's needs - from road bikes to hybrids to e-bikes. I chose Trek Arlington Clarendon, formerly Revolution, to outfit us with our rentals because of Ben's prompt attention to every detail of our diverse group's needs, and the group discount he offered, before I could even ask. Our experience could not have been more positive. Upon our arrival at the shop, Ben, Mike, Alex and team got us custom-fitted to the bikes we'd selected, with changes made as needed. They were friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and well-organized. We were outfitted with all the necessities trail riders require, like bike bags with spare tubes and tools, water bottle cages, toe clips, etc. - whatever each rider asked for. The shop even loaned us a floor pump to use for the week. And the shop accommodated our request to rent road bikes for four days, and then switch us to hybrids for the last two days. We all marveled at the sterling customer service and the high caliber of our rental bikes - we were provided brand-new high-end bicycles, hardly the norm in the bike rental world. A few days later, when we encountered Kevin, one of the congenial staffers, riding on the Mount Vernon Trail, he took a group photo for us. When we returned our bikes at week's end, the staff wanted to know all about our rides, and we felt as though we had made new friends. With metro and bus fare on the rise, I could think of no better time to buy a bike. Since I mostly travel between Bethesda and Van Ness, it seemed like a good way to cut down metro costs and gain some cardio exercise since I was going to nearby places. I live by the Conte's in Bethesda, but decided to venture into Virginia for the actual purchase of my bike. I know what you're thinking - why is Alicia G voluntarily going to Virginia? (Answer: Less sales tax in VA than DC and MD!) I'd done my research online - types of bikes, costs of bikes, accessories I just had to have, locations of stores, gotten advice from friends - before deciding on Revolution Cycles. Of all the websites I had been on, theirs seemed to have the most information and biggest inventory. I walked in the store knowing I needed a bike that wouldn't make my back hurt (I had back surgery in September), was short enough for me and was designed so I could sit straight up (not a road bike). I walked around the bike area twice before finding what I thought would be the bike for me. When I finally picked it out, one of the managers, Dennis, approached me and we started talking bikes. I told him what I wanted, fielded some of his questions and then he picked out the two bikes that might be good for me. After testing the height, we then went downstairs where I gave him my driver's license and credit card so I could take them both for test rides. When I sat on each bike, I didn't think there would be a big difference in how they felt when I rode them. Wow, I was so wrong. The first bike (the bike I ended up buying) was a Trek hybrid that had shock absorbers which really did make all the bumps feel seamless as I rode over them. The second bike was more like a road bike and made me lean forward more which wasn't entirely comfortable to my back. Without the shock absorbers, I (read: my back) felt every single bump and stone that I wheeled over. I was glad to be able to test them both out for an unlimited time period. This really helped in the end in picking out the right bike. Now the accessories. I needed a bag. I didn't want to be wearing a backpack so I wanted a bag for my bike. Unfortunately, since I'm so short and the bike is short, they couldn't give me the bag I originally hoped for. However, they were able to hook me up with some side bags which in the end, I think I liked more. Other accessories I ended up with were a lock, a helmet and most importantly, a 3-yr warranty plan! The service I received during me 2 hours at the store was simply great. Dennis answered every question with ease, offered advice and never put any pressure on me to buy an unnecessary part or accessory. And they were quick! In fact, when I left the store for a half hour/forty-five minutes while they installed the rack on my bike, they actually went to the Georgetown Store to pick up a part they needed and had everything ready to go much faster than I expected! After they finished installing everything, they gave me a quick lesson on how to remove my front tire (at my request - but Lord knows I've already kind of forgotten...) and reminded me to come back in after 30 hours of riding. I'm so glad I chose Revolution Cycles to help me not ride the metro anymore. It's basically my big "EFF YOU" to WMATA and I encourage you to swing by RC to find a bike that suits you. Since I bought my bike I've ridden the metro twice, saved over $20/week on fare and lost 6 pounds. #iLoveMyBike read more

The customer service at Revolution Cycles is woefully lacking. Although the salesmen at the front of the store seemed welcoming, Dan Enriquez, the "Pit Boss" at the Clarendon store, is perhaps the most condescending bike mechanic I have ever encountered. (This is him: http://revolutioncycles.com/articles/dan-enriquez-revolutionary-pg570.htm). This past Thursday morning, I brought my bike in for new brakes. Dan said that they would call me as soon as they completed the job, by Friday morning at the latest. Dan never called. I called the store on Saturday morning to see if my bike was complete, and Dan said that is was, he just never got around to calling me. He did not include an apology, however; this was a matter-of-fact statement. When I arrived to pick up my bike on Saturday morning, I continued to receive poor customer service from Dan. He was very short in his words, never thanking me for my business. He helped other customers that cam in after me first. Dan had a general air of condescension, like I was wasting his time. He clearly had no interest in helping me. I said "Thank you," upon completing the transaction, and he did not respond. Forty dollars later, when I hopped on my bike upon leaving the store, I quickly discovered they raised the seat 1.5 inches. This is too high for me to ride. (My seat is not quick release, so I couldn't adjust it myself, and I wanted to ride it home.) No big deal, I figured--I went back inside Revolution Cycles and asked Dan if he would please adjust the seat back down. Instead of responding with politeness or actual words, Dan rolled his eyes at me, begrudgingly got the tool, and adjusted the seat. Although this only took 1 or 2 seconds of his time, it was clearly more time than he wanted to spend with me, a paying customer. Again, I said, "Thank you!" and this time Dan responded with a grunt. I paid $40 for parts and labor -- I expect a higher level of customer service than a grunt . Due to the poor customer service from Dan at Revolution Cycles, I will take my business elsewhere. Thankfully there are many other bike stores to choose from in the area. read more

For most things, I'm pretty happy with Revolution Cycles, or at least used to be***. But there was one visit which really ticked me off... I tried to return a Topeak multi-tool device one day, well within the return period. If you've ever used the tool, there's a latch on one of the sides that clips in certain tools so it doesn't slip. It's a safety measure to protect the user. Well, I brought it in and gave the tool to the GM of the Clarendon location for return processing and she accused me returning it because "it didn't work anymore." Her question was along the lines of "This latch looks stuck... you broke it. Is this really why you're returning it?" At first, I was shocked. Are you seriously accusing me right now? WITHOUT giving me the opportunity to explain it's a product feature to protect the user while using the tool? Nice. I was returning it because I simply did not like the multi-tool use - I'd rather have a larger set of hand sized tools than this mini set. Anyway, little did she know, but the locking mechanism is an **actual feature** of the Topeak multi-tool. BUT, instead of asking me, she thought I broke it and was trying to return it for a new one. She eventually called the head tech and he showed her that it was part of the tool's functionality. One click and everything was back to normal. She played dumb and processed the request. Not even an apology or a little laugh to diffuse the situation. I did get my money back, but I didn't appreciate being treated like a cheat. I'll pass on future visits here. read more

2 well-earned stars for quite possibly the crappiest service in a bike shop. I'll admit, when summer hits, I'm out on my bike. In winter, I can't quite say the same. So, when it was time to hit it the road with my roadbike, I had a few things to upgrade. I was in the area so I decided to swing by Revolution Cycles. For one thing, I wasn't greeted. Now, I've worked many, many years in retail and although it can be a tedious task to say hello to each and every customer, it truly makes a difference in my shopping experience, just me personally. At any rate, since I knew exactly what I needed (just needed to pick up some new toe clips), I walked over to the bike accessory section. Hm-- no toe clips. After two RC workers came up to me and rudely asked "um... are you looking for something?", they matter-of-factly directed me to the toe clips, which are held behind the back counter (not intuitive to look behind the counter...? sorry to be such a bother to you dudes). I was greeted with the same caliber of service: the "sooo... were you looking to buy something or???" type. I got my toe clips, quickly walked to the front counter, paid and am sure to never ever come back. I'm really not sure what is up with the staff here but it was probably the rudest service I've ever gotten. I partially contribute it to me wearing a sundress that day and not, say, a fluorescent uni-suit with biking gloves and a helmet on. I have a sneaking suspicion the service is more geared to those customers that RC workers predict will either 1) drop a ton of money or 2) are seasoned cyclers. Selective customer service? Not a great selection of bikes to choose from...this place sells treks, treks, and treks. *Update* - Looks like they've stepped up their game as they are now dealers of Felt and Orbea cycles as well as Treks. Promising... I tried to buy a bike here and knew more about the bikes than the guy helping me. I consider myself a beginner. Since then I've come back to purchase smaller items (lights, pump, etc) and have had little problems. Mediocre customer service. I ended up buying a bike here despite their customer service, with the one exception of Nick, who must work on most weeknights. The managers would not greet me when I came in and a service trainee walked away when he was not able to handle my concern, which was really to put a basket on my bike. read more
