Brought my "Specialized" bike in because the chain broke off, figured would have to get a new chain as it is a old bike. They went out of there way to figure out why the chain broke, and worked out the cheapest possible solution. Long story short they fixed the root cause and repaired the chain. Appreciated the honesty, they could of replaced several of the parts and i would of been none the wiser. read more

I came here first to buy a bike for my daughter because the mechanics treated My son so well getting his bike ready for college. They didn't have to go the extra mile but they sure did. So when we were looking for my daughters first new bike the service person (Barack) treated her like he wanted her to have the best ride / fit / fun possible. He really knew how to match her with just the right bike. These people are passionate about getting things right so the rider has the best experience possible. folks! i have got to tell you all, if you own a very high end trek project one like i do(mind was like $12,000), this is honest to god the only bike shop i would trust in chicago!!! my greatest pet peeve are shops that employ mechanics that are just marginally better than the customer and anybody who has ever owned a trek speed concept, know this bike is one of the most challenging to work on and most difficult and adam, who worked on mine did an amazing job of not only building it, but i was very impressed how he was gentle, used a torque wrench on every bolt, took his time, and his 17 years of experience spoke volumes. other shops i have taken my bike to, they made me feel very uneasy as i watched them handle my bike like it was a hot potato, i was so nervous they would whack my $2700 zip disk against something hard and it's not just some shops, but practically all shops i have visited do not seem to care as much. after adam finished building and adjusting everything, the attention to detail was the best i ever seen. he even took a file and was filing the dust cover cap that covers the steering stem as he already knew that rubs and wears the paint over time. i also showed him my zipp disk because it looked like it was possibly delaminating. he quickly told me that was normal, and he explained how the finish was applied and how the disk was actually built, again very amazed at the intimate knowledge of not only products he does not directly support, but you could definitely tell this guy has worked on many trek speed concepts and other high end bikes. i truly recommend this shop to anybody who again owns a very high end speed concept or for that matter any trek bike as adam is definitely one of the best mechanics i have seen. read more

Let me first say that I'm probably not even close to being their target customer and I know almost nothing about any of the bikes they sell. However, I drive by there almost daily and needed a part for my daughter's bike so I took a chance and stopped in. I'm sure within a minute of talking to me the employee realized that this was not going to be a big dollar sale for him... nonetheless, the guys in the service area went totally out of their way to try to help me track down what I needed without overspending on my cheapo kids bike! Overall they were knowledgeable, friendly and completely unpretentious throughout the whole ordeal. The store is also way bigger than it looks from the outside and it is loaded with a wide selection of bikes. I'm definitely heading back next time I need to upgrade into a serious bike. read more

Came in to look at some bikes. Had a great experience until met owner. He treated me like I didn't belong in his shop bc I wasn't a hard core biker. He was extremely arrogant and condescending. Unless you get a great price here I would skip this place and go into Lombard onto main street to shop for a trek. read more

Had work done at this shop. Was told certain things were covered in the tune up. Bike was picked up and after further exam of charges I found I was charged for things twice. I questioned it and was told had to talk to a manager. No manager around at time of pick up. Called spoke to two managers and was promised a credit. Still have yet to see credit. Save your self the aggravation go elsewhere. read more

I took my Alpha 2.1 in for the annual Spring Tuneup. The only probably I had with the bike at the end of the last season (2013) was the rear brakes needed some adjusting because the brake pad was rubbing against the wheel unless I opened the caliper all the way up. They took a quick look at the brakes and suggested getting new pads. No problem, just need it adjusted so pads don't continue to rub. Pickup bike and it looks ok, but hard to test without riding a little. Sure enough, half way through my first ride the new pads are rubbing against the wheel. How hard is this to adjust? Disappointed. Otherwise personnel where nice and helpful. read more

Took my 22 year old Trek in, convinced I needed a new chain based on mileage. I also was interested in possibly upgrading the brake system. The friendly tech measured the links, There was no stretching and advised me it was in good shape. He cleaned the cassettes and wiped down the chain. Brake-wise, he did a quick adjustment and made sure the calipers were evenly meeting the rims. Bottom line, he could have easily sold me $150 worth of services but didn't. I left with a clean chain and adjusted brakes for no cost! The service dept has always treated me right but this was insane! Thanks! read more

I went in here to buy a few components for my bike. I approached an employee named Eddie, who was very rude and condescending from the start. He acted as if I was wasting his time by asking questions. In addition to this bad attitude his bicycle knowledge appeared to be lacking. Simply the best! After a long hiatus from cycling, I needed to see if me and my road/mountain bikes, new shoes and cleats could function as one. From the beginning, working with Trek Downers Grove was seamless. The on-line appointment calendar/questionnaire was easy to use for my "Cleat & Saddle Adjustment" session, the Store Manager Burak Keen, quickly confirmed everything electronically. Once at the store, Burak truly listened to my needs, asked me about my riding history and long term goals. I can tell you that Burak was detailed, and everything was literally measured and explained with a purpose. He was patient, answered all my questions and offered recommendations for fit/positioning. What impressed me most was as we neared (and went past) closing time the only thing on his mind was getting it, "the fit" right, he was NOT in a hurry.
