Her men's cuts and scissor-over-comb work are excellent, and she is extremely particular about the details. I know she only takes certain men's haircut clients by referral, so I genuinely appreciate being part of her clientele. Tina and the whole Trendsetter team are the best! I've been going to Trendsetter Salon & Day Spa in Highland for almost five years, and I couldn't be happier. Owner Robin and the front desk staff are always super friendly and cheerful. They set such a warm, welcoming tone the second you walk in. Tina has been my stylist the entire time, and I honestly can't say enough good things about her. She's friendly, professional, and a true color expert. I go every 4-5 weeks for root touch-ups, treatments, highlights, and trims as needed, and she never disappoints. Other stylists in the salon frequently ask her opinion on formulas, and she even travels across the country to teach coloring techniques. That's how respected she is. What I love most is how she mentors beauty school students and recent grads. She's incredibly detailed when teaching them. Sometimes they assist her, and if she has them shampoo or do anything independently, she always checks their work and asks me for feedback. She's also constantly making sure I'm comfortable by offering me something to drink or checking if I need anything. Tina really listens so she can make sure you get exactly what you want, and she genuinely cares that you're happy when you leave. My mother was a hairdresser, so I ask a lot of questions, and Tina is always happy to answer them thoroughly. Both of my daughters see her too--one for regular trims and the other for highlights, money pieces, and trims. I've even watched her kindly offer her arm to older clients and walk them over to the shampoo bowls. She's thoughtful like that. If something is outside her specialty, she doesn't try to force it--she'll recommend another stylist in the salon. She's not just out to make a buck; she genuinely wants the best result for you. Tina Chavez has been helping me transition into my natural gray, and I couldn't be happier with the process. So I wanted to leave a review on the salon itself, not the stylist I had. The stylist I had those was great. The salon itself is very beautiful & clean. They have a little shop in the front with hair care products and & accessories as well as other beauty products. I was offered water as I waited for my stylist and this was really nice. Water a warm & given to me in a kind of dingy glass cup, but still clean & it shows their attentiveness for clients & costumers. I really enjoyed this salon & it seems that every stylist knew what they were doing just from my observation. When I called initially, I asked if someone was available that was recommended to me, but they weren't. So I then asked if anyone was available that day who knew about recent trends and what types of styles and colors would fit my face as I was looking for a "glow-up." They recommended a stylist who was great, so overall I would go again, even if I don't see the same stylist. read more

I'm still leaving a 4 star review bc I still love this salon, but I recommend not booking or rethink booking with Wendy Martinez ! She did my hair , I wanted a more black and blonde mixed together. I got out of my 6 hour appointment with no blonde at all, I was more brown haired than anything. Even all the other employees she was working with asked her "why it's taking so long." She also cut my hair way too short than what I was thinking when she said we were going to get a trim ( she didn't even ask me how short) I'm insanely disappointed with this hair and I really feel like I wasted $400 dollars for nothing :( I usually don't write yelp reviews but I feel so hopeless & like I wasted a lot of money to not have something so simple done. I had my makeup and hair done by Capture Your Beauty Crystal Luna for my wedding. She was amazing! The day of the wedding I started having some major anxiety issues with the last minute things and she stayed so professional and reassuring for me.
