This place is my go to for nails in the area. My mom and I have been going to them for years, sometimes with my grandmas, but we are always satisfied. It's located in the San Miguel Ranch shopping center, so there is tons of parking. They have a good amount of work stations. It's clean and well kept inside. A lot of people think the staff is rude in these reviews, but I beg to differ. In person they're very nice, and they actually try to get to know their local crowd more. Please be advised getting your mani and pedi done. I have been going to them for the past 3-4 times. The workers are great. However, I'm concerned on how clean their tools are. I've been getting pedis for years back to back foreverrrr but this last pedi I developed an infection with lot of pain even with walking. This happed a week after a pedi with them. I had also got a builder gel manicure and within 2 days, multiple nails were chipped off. I went to the Salon a few days after and the guy at the front desk said they could not fix it for me because I should've came right when they were chipped. I have a newborn and live across the street, and it was still hard to come. Despite the pics with timestamps he still declined. I had no choice to get a mani and I got charged full price. I'm not as bothered by that but very disgusted how I developed an infection due to their poor cleaning techniques of their tools. I would advise to not go to them ever. It's not worth the risk. Chloe is THE BEST! Honestly. Not o Lyn did I get a super cute gel pedi, but it was, hands down, the best foot scrub and leg massage I've ever experienced. They say walk-ins welcome, but I'd recommend making an appointment. While I was there (mid afternoon on a Saturday) I saw half a dozen people turned away because the spa was booked. Had the weirdest experience at this salon. The man who was doing my wife's nails was watching the football game while doing her nails. It doesn't usually take that long but when you are watching the game versus paying attention. Top it off because he wasn't paying attention her nails didn't come out correctly. Service is okay. I asked for specifically only white gel pedicure (no special massages, etc) & left paying $60. These ladies will constantly keep trying to upsell you it's a bit much. They have a sheet with services and pricing, but won't tell you that some stuff is not included due to "covid". Be sure to ask before. Also, Make sure you take cash because they won't let you pay with card. They'll tell you "cash only. Card no let you add tip. We moved to Chula Vista a year ago, and I have not had my nails done because I could not find a salon to commit to. Every place on Yelp has both positive and negative reviews, and it's so hard to look past the negatives! After finally looking at reviews of almost all the salons in the area, I finally committed to Trendy. I knew I wanted either Helen or Andy to perform my services. When I called to make an appointment, I did not request either and just decided I would let whoever I got perform my services and hope for the best. Crazy idea, I know, given I'm so picky about my nails. But I left it in the hands of the "nail gods." I show up to my appointment, and was greeted by the ladies. Everyone was very friendly, nice, and polite. I told them I was there for an appointment, and once we confirmed what services I would be getting, I was led straight to a spa chair to soak my feet. The salon was very clean and organized, and was very bright and welcoming. There are so many colors to pick from - regular polish, dip powder, gel. Everything is very organized and colors are easy to choose. Linda did my pedicure while Helen (YAY!) did my full set of acrylics. Both ladies were very friendly and chatty, which I loved. Both were also very attentive to what I wanted, and Helen made sure that my nails were to my liking every step of the way. She was an absolute sweetheart, as was Linda. I truly enjoyed both of them. They both took their time and were not rushed at all. My ombré acrylics and gel pedicure turned out absolutely perfect, I could not love them more! I almost don't want to leave a review because I love this place so much and I'm afraid my favorite techs will get booked up and not have time for me. My daughter and I walked in wanting to get full sets and a pedi one morning, we were greeted by Andy and promptly helped despite how busy it was. Firstly this place is clean, all the tools they use are sterilized professionally, and they are following all covid safety protocols as well. I had my nails done by Helen and my Pedi done by Gabby Let's start with the Pedi, I just asked for a basic pedi and let me tell you this was the best Pedi I've EVER had! Gabby is amazing! Helen started my nails while I was doing my pedi, and instead of acrylics she suggested gel dip so we did that and let's just say I'll never go back to acrylics again. Loved my nails and Helen! My daughter just had a full set done with Andy and he is amazing as well. We went back yesterday 3 weeks later for a fill (yes our nails still looked amazing after 3 weeks, no chips, breaks lifts, etc just normal growth) and I'm in love all over again. Went in to get service and no "Hi" or anything, just "What do you want?" I answered and he didn't respond, continued working with his client and looked around. Update after my most recent post: I couldn't handle it anymore! I had to remove my nails myself... But it wasn't hard since the acrylic was so incredibly thick and lifting all around the edges anyway. It was a good thing that I took them off when I did because there was mold underneath! This was only after two weeks! I definitely do not recommend this place as they obviously do not care about the quality of their work nor the health of their clients. Didn't take much for my review to change. The ladies are as sweet as can be, but the man at the front (while I was willing to overlook it before due to quality and value for service) doesn't understand customer service. 1) Apparently they are only accepting cash right now. Two things wrong with this.... Aren't most places doing CARD only to promote minimal contact? I believe this is because they are avoiding charge fees and taxes. Two, I called THREE different times that he had the opportunity to remind a customer of their new temporary "cash only" policy. I did not have my debit card on me, and when he was pushing me to the ATM and I told him I couldn't and would leave, he suddenly could take card.... what? 2) Upon check in on yelp, you are offered a free service add-on for a pedicure. When I showed it, he told me "No this is an old offer for Crystal Nails"... well then why does it say "Thank you for checking into Trendy Nails" at the top of the offer? Rather than brushing off the customer and saying no, you should say you'll honor it this time and then just immediately update your Yelp to reflect the changes so it doesn't happen again. THAT is customer service. 3) The prices still reflect the inclusion of a drink for a deluxe pedicure, which they are unable to offer. Prices should be adjusted to reflect the change in service. Shame on you, sir, for your poor service. You need to learn how to run a business where the customer comes first. Soft skills are hard to come by. Other than that, I did witness one of the women take off her socks and start picking at her toe lint or toe nails while she was bored and waiting for a customer and then never washed her hands after. I have held off for over a year on writing a review of this nail salon. First, let me caveat that I didn't have my 1st pedicure until well into my 30's and didn't especially enjoy it. I remember calling my sister and asking, "why do you like people touching your feet...it's abnormal and it tickles?!" She laughed and said, because it's hard to reach my toes and it feels good. But I'm not much into massages either...but I digress. I also had one manicure at age 23 .... the day before my wedding. My nails were already messed up for the big day and it seemed like a perfectly good waste of $20. Now that I'm older I still don't really treat myself but my husband gets me gift cards to this salon. I think it amuses him to hear the stories. My neighbor is caucasian but speaks Vietnamese and she said you would be shocked if you heard some of the things people say in these type of salons. So onto the review of this particular salon. I think that for the most part the employees are better than other places I've tried. For the record, there was one person who didn't know what she was doing. But I also got a $60 manicure in DC 10 years ago that pales in comparison to most of the employees at Crystal's. Their prices are more reasonable than everywhere else too. I do find it amusing that whether you get the high end pedicure or the basic it's pretty much the same regardless. I brought my sister here who is a pedicure aficionado and she was impressed. It is amusing that each time I come into the salon, I feel like I'm back in grade school and everyone inside (mostly the employees) are staring at you like "who's the new kid in school?" I got over it 30+ years ago so it's actually more just funny versus galling. Then comes the fun part....figuring out what to get...maybe they know I'm still a newbie and don't know to just say "mani pedi". You can upgrade to all sorts of stuff like sea salt scrub and callous remover. This last visit I requested sea salt, but then they look at my feet and say, "are you sure you don't want callous remover?" They seem to know their trade so I acquiesce. But now I'm walking around... pads removed.... and it's painful having tender feet! Do people really pay that much attention to feet? I kind of miss my callouses! Let me tell you these ladies do pay attention. They have an eye for detail that is amazing. (not all of them unfortunately, but most) Just as I was thinking wow....they see the smallest of details, she asks, "you want hair waxed too?" She is staring at my lips and eyebrows. No I like my bushy eyebrows and I don't stare at my face close enough to notice the fine hairs. For now I'll stick to the mani pedis. read more
