We had a house fire in early May. ServPro have likely caused more damage than the house fire. After…read moresitting around for 90 days, they rushed the job and threw out roughly 60% of non-salvageable items without documenting what was tossed. This means that we will roughly lose $80,000 from our claim. At first, the owner claimed the iPad that housed our data was stolen and later broken. When I asked for a police report they changed their story and they simply do a good job of documenting everything that was tossed. They also didn't perform a thorough dry-out, so it appears we now have a mold issue. They were supposed to share daily moisture logs and we never received any data from them. I've helped over 60 ServPro locations across Canada with UX/customer experience and never imagined a company could be this bad under the ServPro name. Avoid at all costs, because their poor service will cost you in the end. Note: It wasn't even ServPro that performed that Matterport scans, yet they keep bringing them up as if they performed these scans. So far, the only remedy ServPro has recommended is that we "try to imagine" what was in the 5 roll-off bins of items they tossed but failed to document.

Had a water pipe burst under kitchen sink that flooded kitchen, dining room and partial living room. Insurance company (American Family) took a week to get an adjuster out to survey the situation. Of course by this time we had vaccumed up all water except what was trapped under wood veneer planks and luxury vinyl flooring. Adjuster contacted ServPro three days after he had assessed situation. First day all ServoPro did was paperwork and measurements and accessed what needed done. Next day arriving late afternoon they tore up small area of flooring in kitchen to determine water had gone as far as subfloo. Leaving humidifier and fans stayed three hours. Stating they would get an earlier start the next day was called to be told they had another job that just came in so it would be later in day before they could arrive. at this point my husband and myself ripped up all the flooring that needed taken up ourselves. Wanted kitchen cabinets saved to dry out. They totally demolished sink basin cabinet leaving nothing but facing frame work Damaged counter top in two places taking it off and placing on floor. They bill with a computer program that only allows one to enter a bank account number as they send more statements asking for payment keep telling them to send something can enter a charge on, get no response on emails sent to them on that issue.

Not only that, but they came back two days later to guarantee they effectively scrubbed out all the residue left in our carpet. For context, my family came over to help my boyfriend and I clean our condo's carpet ourselves, since our cats had pretty much decimated sections of our carpet with cat urine and vomit over the years. Between deep cleaning with rental equipment and drying the carpet with three rented industrial fans, we invested about $300 and 3 days of labor ourselves. Wish I could say it was worth it, but after all was said and done, we were left with residue filled carpet that felt worse than we started (I've since been informed I over saturated our carpet in cleaning solution which left behind that gross sticky residue - don't believe the ratios on the damn bottle). It left my feet with a grimy black substance on it, and also, because who doesn't love a cherry on top, the smell of cat urine still persistently lingered like the ghost of Christmas past. Frustrated to say the least, we caved, called in the professionals, and after seeing their results I can confidently say I'll never deep clean a carpet myself again in this lifetime. Just call in the pros. The first day, they were in and out in less than 30 minutes total and that was after they sprayed some extra enzymatic solution to kill the incessant pet odor everywhere. They even came back when I'd called and said the carpet still felt sticky in some areas, and again were in and out in even less time than before. True champs. They were efficient, friendly, professional, non-judgmental (can't say I'd be the same if I walked in and saw some of our gnarly cat stains), communicated everything patiently, and they were just amazing in general. Their job was to just dry the wooden stumps and clean the basement. The quote itself was very high but I did proceed with it due to limited time and urgency. As a part of their job, they were supposed to return my basement in a cleaned state. However, they added this activity as an additional cost when it should have been part of the job. Als,they took an additional day and inflated my invoice by about 25% higher to $3050.when cleaning to the target drying level should have been their intention from the get go. Further, they threatened to lien my property and foreclose it for not paying this extra $500. They did not ask for verbal approvals for the authorization to proceed with the increase in costs. They are resorting to corporate holliganism. Giving inaccurate estimates and inflating invoices, adding additional labor and costs that should have been covered as part of their estimated and quoted work. Please stay away from First Serve. Integrity, accuracy and feedback from the customers are important but they wouldn't want to accept it.
