We were in town for a visit. Decided to give them a try. Staff was wonderful! Always asking if we needed anything, refilled our drinks, and quick service. The food was really good. My son enjoyed the lunch steak fajitas. The taco salads were really good, a good amount of chicken. read more

Sat for 15 mins before even getting a menu. Finally ordered and waited 30 more mins and still no food. Finally left after they say a group of 15 right next to us with screaming toddlers. Will not be going back. As for food all we got was the chips and salsa and the salsa was horrible. read more

Pretty good atmosphere and dining area, but that was all that was above average. The food was mediocre and after the beginning the service slacked off to being pretty bad as well. Nothing was terrible, just not above average. One cool thing is that someone in our group told the waiter how thirsty he was in passing and the waiter brought him a gigantic beverage stein which was pretty impressive. I absolutely love Mexican food however it doesn't always love me. I was a little nervous trying this place so far from home but the food was fantastic and we went on a 3 hour shopping adventure after we ate. Waitress was obviously new, I ordered a "top shelf" margarita with my choice of tequila. I had to remind my waitress of my choice . She took my order and was friendly. Food was good however, when I received my bill I was charged an additional $38 for my 2 margaritas. I thought she had made a mistake because the menu CLEARLY stated MY CHOICE of tequila. When I had made my selection it was never disclosed that I would be charged an additional fee. After questioning it I was told that they have to charge it. I let them know that the menu does not disclose it and neither did the waitress. The waiter said he would change the menu next week....I doubt it. I still ended up paying that $38. Such a shame I'm a local and the food is good. But this will keep me from going back. read more

We ate lunch here today for the first time. We were served warm fresh nachos and salsa right away and we ordered fajitas and chimichanga from the lunch menu. Both of us thought our meals were very good and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely return to Tres Amigos. read more

I absolutely loved my first experience with Tres Amigos but the second visit left much to be desired, in fact, I didn't even order this time. My first visit - the hostess was friendly and I asked her what her favorite dish was. She said shrimp chimichanga - so I ordered the entree, 1 chicken and 1 shrimp to go. I asked for both rice & beans and once home - I only had rice, but that was easy enough to overlook. Today, I went in with my heart set on repeating the same dish and was told it wasn't possible and that maybe some others don't follow the rules? (?? Kind of a strange way to throw your co-workers under the bus.) The waiter said - that's my boss right there and he says no. I asked if it was possible to accommodate because it was my entire reason for coming in and again, they declined. I was very happy to have this new business in my hometown and even more excited that I preferred their food to a local competitor. But, I've been visiting the local competitor for more than 10 years and NEVER had a special request denied. There are several things on the menu I'd like to try - but, this visit has given me no reason to return. read more

My wife and I shared the Fiesta Sampler and the Mixed Fajita Nachos this evening. It may very well be some of the best of either type of dish I have ever had. We will definitely be returning for dine-in and carry-out. The servers and management were attentive to an extreme. Even with the place being moderately busy, they were always dropping by the table to see that everything was going well with our meal. Everything was cooked and presented to perfection. The pricing seems in line with the market area. Being not far off I-75, it's well worth a stop if you're traveling on the north side of Cincinnati. I was excited to see a new Mexican restaurant in Monroe. However, consistent with other reviews, I wasn't impressed. The salsa is very bland. The waiter was very impatient and would take off before you were finished telling him what you wanted. Something small, but we had to ask for napkins and they only brought 2 and there were 3 of us. The food came out quick enough. However, we had to ask for silverware. I had a beef taco salad. The beef was not good at all. Very dry and flavorless. My wife had the fajitas, which were also bland. My daughter had had the chicken taco salad, and again, flavorless. Too many better choices in the area to even consider going back. read more

Enjoyed a full course meal for our first time at Tres Amigos. Started with queso to dip the chips. The salsa was not the greatest. Then came our meals. The serving size was perfect. I got carnitas street tacos. The sauce that comes with them is SUPER hot. Didn't use. Instead I spritzed my tacos with fresh lime juice. I also got one tamale to try.. it wasn't the greatest. Very dry. I will skip it next time. My partner enjoyed a giant burrito stuffed with chicken, steak, and shrimp. There were only 3 pieces of shrimp for the whole burrito. Was delicious but would have preferred to have an equal amount of meats in the burrito. Then we finished with dessert. I got fried ice cream minus the whipped cream. I was weary to try the fried ice cream because every time I get it it seems that they just roll a scoop of ice cream in Frosted Flakes. But this fried ice cream, the crispies actually tasted like it was "fried" so delicious! The fried cheesecake was enjoyed as well. Will be coming back! read more

Finally stopped in unexpectedly after being snubbed at another restaurant. We were promptly greeted and seated, with drinks soon to follow. There was a strange wet spot under our booth; not sure of the cause but definitely not mop water. Regardless, the kitchen looked clean and we hadn't eaten yet today. One ordered the fajita nachos... excellent flavor, good quality meat and veggies, huge portion. Could have easily served 2. The second person ordered the nachos locos, on recommendation from the waitress. Less nachos, with a side of refried beans and lettuce/sour cream. A good choice, but not as good as the fajita nachos. I ordered the chimichangas. Not entirely sure what I was served, but it was not the deep fried tortilla filled with deliciousness I was anticipating. I instead received two soft flour tortillas filled with shredded chicken, topped with queso. Not bad, but a little bland. We opted for dessert at the end of the meal. One got the sopapillas which were well priced and excellent. The second ordered fried cheesecake; the waitress misheard her and brought fried ice cream. Looked delish, but was sent back. The waitress returned shortly after with a small slice of something resembling cheesecake. However, upon tasting the dessert, it turned out to actually be their Snickers pie. Pretty good, still not fried cheesecake though. The cook told the waitress that she was given the correct item, despite the picture in the menu proving otherwise. I ordered the flan. Looked a little skimpy on the large plate but was generic-flan-tasty. All in all, possibly worth another visit in the future. read more

Love this New Mexican restaurant. Finally Monroe get a good sit down place. I ordered the tacos de carnitas and they were delicious. True authentic, and not the Americanized Mexican food most places have these days. The tomatila (spelling) sauce was hot and delicious. Salsa was a little too oniony for me but good! We have a new go to place for great Mexican food. We stopped by just because we were nearby and enjoyed our Texas margaritas. The Polo Mole was one of the best I've had in the area. My wife had chimichangas and said that they are worth a return trip. We will be back to try other menu items. The service was great and the dining area was clean and seemed newly renovated. read more
