I go here all the time and the food is absolutely amazing. The portions are a good size and everything is always fresh and hot. The staff is always very nice and everything comes out timely. There has been relatively new updates and they have new booths which really add to the vibe of the space a long with some fun neon signs and couches for a cute photo op. read more

Shotout to Veracruz had a good time with my lady. From the neon aesthetic down to the amazing staff they have. Very welcoming, friendly, they even helped me when I ordered my food in Spanish. Aside from that we had Ritzy as waiter and she went above and beyond so shout out to her. We ended up sharing a chicken and steak fajita platter. Everything was on point too, fresh, hot, seasoned well and we had nice lil serving as you can see. And you know we had to grab some drinks. Me, I grabbed a Margarita-Rita(Corona) and Prickly Pear(Small Pink). She grabbed a Sangria-Rita(Pink) and the House Margarita(Small Yellow). I was a little nervous because I seen bad reviews about the service but when we got there the vibes were cool, the decorations, and the staff. Ritzy was our server she was so nice and so cute highly recommend. Me and my boo both got drinks. He got the prickly pear margarita and I honestly forgot my first margarita . But it was good and strong . We shared a chicken and steak fajita with everything on the side and we had the option to get corn tortillas and that's exactly what we did . We also ordered another round of drinks. I got the sangrita which was a margarita mixed with sangria and it was perfect omg . My boo got the margarita -Rita which was a house margarita mixed with a Coronarita. He wasn't a fan but I didn't mind it so I finished it for him . Another great Mexican restaurant. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas and the chicken was juicy and not over cooked. Beans were so creamy and the portion size was huge. The guacamole was a bit to limey but still pretty good amd they give you a large portion for the cost. The chips and salsa were both really good. The service was fast and friendly. With almost no Mexican options in town this was it! After trying once I even gave it another try months later with similar results. Extremely mediocre food with decent service sums them up over two visits. I had a burrito, rice and beans on one occasion and chicken and beef tacos on another. The drinks looked good but I passed as I was driving. The chips were even blah! Not again. If you can skip I would. 2.5 rounding down. There is nothing whatsoever authentic about Veracruz. Veracruz in Austin, specifically the one off Congress & César Chávez in the Line Hotel, has secured its place as my go-to taco haven. The tacos are a flavor explosion. However, fair warning: the morning lines can get lengthy, maybe because it's in the trendy Line Hotel. Despite the wait, the tacos are worth it. The place is large with plenty of seating for bigger parties. If it's your first check-in you'll get a free queso dip. They have a large lunch menu, with daily specials. I ordered the enchilada lunch, which came with 3 enchiladas, rice, and beans. You can get the enchiladas with either pork, chicken or beef. I was able to get all three, and the pork was my favorite. The chicken was good, with large chunks. The beef was the same way, both were good, but there was something about the pork that took it to the next lever. The mixture of the red enchilada sauce, cheese, and pork was amazing. The queso dip was creamy, cheesy, and very good. I have already reviewed Veracruz, but I just keep noticing more of the details that make the experience so good. The first thing that arrives at your table (or bar) is fresh salsa and fresh chips. That makes a huge difference in meal enjoyment. It sets the bar high for the rest of the meal, but also opens the pallet up to enjoy more of the subtle flavors of fresh food made with care. I suspect they use less salt or other flavor enhancers than other restaurants which allows you to really taste things. Also top shelf alcohol goes into all their drinks. I must say that you should never allow hype to excite you about a restaurant. I have wanted to come to Veracruz for sometime based on reviews and recommendations. They get the fourth star because of the awesome friendliness of the hostess/manager. Otherwise I can say it was a definite let down. I first asked about the Boss Margarita and the server suggested it so I ordered it but have to say it was just aight. Then I asked the server what was the best chicken dish. She recommended the fajita so I ordered that. When it was served I waited for the side of lettuce and pico and cheese and sorry cream. I finally asked if I was supposed to get that and was told it only came with rice and beans. I have had many a fajita and never without the "fixings". So I ate half and asked for a to go container and $25.00 later I left with just a chicken fajita and a small margarita. At least I can say I have been but that was about the extent of it. The food has always been fresh tasting and high quality while service is as good as humanly possible considering this place can go from quiet to bustling in 20 minutes. My wife and I had dinner here tonight with my step-father and we left very satisfied and stuffed. My step-father had the Ultimate Enchiladas that took two plates to serve while my wife and I shared the Ultimate Fajitas. This sizzling platter came out with a mountain of steak, chicken, and shrimp so high it would have taken a platoon of Marines to conquer. (This was supposed to be 1 dinner?!?) We left with three boxes of leftovers. Not only were the portions good value (for us) but it was WELL executed and very tasty. Having lived in Texas for 10 years I can tell you it is not Gulf Coast fresh nor Laredo Ranch rustic but it is the best you will get in this Steeltown/Soybeanville area.
