My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday evening and it was busy! We did not have to wait for a table but most of the ones surrounding us were full with families. The party music was playing in another section, the TVs had on Mexican soccer and MMA fights, and there were a few birthday celebrations. The Feast Hall known as El Trompo is not easily compared to other halls that bear the same banner. This place sets itself apart. The music is present, the flavors are layered, and the food arrives with the clear intention of proving itself. And it does. I found myself here with my wife, and within moments our mouths were carried, without warning, to a land of fire and seasoning what the bards call Flavor Town a realm long spoken of by Lord Guy himself, as the realm has long whispered. I ordered the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. The corn was excellent, and the chicken tasted as though it had been roasted beneath a wyvern's watchful eye, emerging impossibly juicy and demanding a pause after the first bite. This is food that expects to be noticed. The mashed potatoes, however, I cannot defend. They must be banished. They reminded me uncomfortably of the fare one finds at the Golden Arch Tavern present, edible, and entirely forgettable. Even a hall that proves itself must answer for such lapses. Still, the greater portion of this feast was strong, memorable, and well made. I would rather forgive a weak side than forget a great main, and this hall earns its return. You can grab a booth or sit at the bar, and they even offer tableside guac. The drinks are pretty typical for this kind of spot (a little heavy on the sugar), but you can ask for them to be made how you like--I had a mezcal margarita that was really good. The fajitas hit the spot, but I'd suggest asking for extra tortillas. This is a great lunch spot--the food came out hot, the portions were generous, and parking was easy. Firstly, the Dj music was EXTREMELY loud. by extremely i mean EXTREMELY. i listen to loud metal music in my headphones daily but the music in here hurt my ears so bad!!! secondly, the food is average at best. because of the loud ass music, the sweet waitress miss understood my order and i received the wrong dish and had to wait another 30 minutes for my correct dish because of how busy it was. lastly, because it was super busy (hour and 30 minute wait), after leaving my brothers car was TOWED! there was absolutely no space in the parking lot with how busy it was, so my brother and lots of others parked in the business building's parking lot that was right over. Eagle Towing had a field day and towed like 45 cars and of course on a Tuesday when everyone has work! im never coming back here again. read more

First the food had outstanding flavor. The restaurant design was cool. This review would have had 5 stars but the reason it didn't was the following... there were 4 people standing at the front and no one brought us drinks or offered anything for over 15-20 minutes. Then 30 minutes after we got our food they took turns coming to ask if we needed anything roughly every 5 minutes with awkward stares. It seemed they were trying to kick us out. West Chester has it's fair share of Mexican restaurants and El Trompo adds to the list. Luckily it can hold it's own with an extensive menu, good food and friendly service. I stopped in for lunch and they started me off with a bowl of salsa and corn chips. I ordered their Lunch Special #19 which was grilled shrimp and onions served with a salad of lettuce, tomato and sliced avocado, Mexican rice, and a couple of warm, flour tortillas ($12.99). Portions were more than adequate. My meal had 10 medium shrimp which turned out to be more than I could eat. Unless you eat like a Sumo wrestler, you won't go away hungry from here. Both the salsa and the shrimp had a mild heat level which I liked. They have a full bar and an extensive drink menu. Outdoor seating is available in the parking lot area. It's not very inviting but it IS outdoor seating. The atmosphere inside is nice but it's a big open space so noise levels when they are busy could be high. We were a party of 8 that went to El Trompo on a Saturday night. The place was packed. The food was slow to come. Couple people in our group didn't get the food for long time in spite of talking to the servers multiple times! Worst of all it was the deafening music/noise from a live band that made it impossible to have a conversation even with the person sitting next to you!!! All our iPhones were buzzing saying we were in a unhealthy noisy situation. I wonder what OSHA would say about it for the sake workers' health and safety for prolonged exposure to such a high sound level!!! If you go, make sure what kind of entertainment they have planned. Really conflicted on this review. The decor, vibe, and service are a 5/5! We came with a very large group and they were prepared for us. Chips and salsa already on the tables and our server was phenomenal. The food was less than desirable. Not many of us enjoyed our dishes. Over cooked meat and just not good quality ingredients. My friends in OH introduced me to this place before I moved and I love it. I will say the menu is a little overwhelming but I usually like to try something new everytime I visit. I tried the chimichangas, my friends got nachos and the burrito Ramon. Everything came out fresh and hot. They also had free tequila shots that night! I will say even when you walk in and see other people's food - it always looks delicious! The West Chester location is the only one I've visited and I love the decor and the murals at this location. Also it's way bigger than it looks from the outside (like the Tardis). I would recommend trying it. My husband & I went to El Trompo for the second time last night & it did not disappoint! Let me start by saying if you are looking for a quaint, quiet place for dinner - this ain't it! Now, if you are looking for fun, music (sometimes live!), exciting drinks, & delicious food - you've come to the right place! We were immediately seated & started with the complimentary chips & salsa, which was a great start to the meal. Chips were perfectly seasoned & the salsa had just the right amount of heat. For drinks, I ordered the 16 oz strawberry daiquiri (only bc it's better for everyone if I steer clear of tequila ) & it had me wishing I would have went for the jumbo!! When I tell you this is the best daiquiri I've ever had, whew! It had whipped cream, chocolate sauce, gummy & sour gummy worms, fresh strawberries, & these delicious chocolates with marshmallow & what tasted like raspberry jelly inside. I felt like I had died & gone to heaven. If I had to choose a last meal, this would be the drink accompanying it. My husband had a regular margarita on the rocks. He seemed to enjoy it, but was so focused on his delicious meal he almost forgot about it! My go-to Mexican food is always enchiladas. I had them last time we came & enjoyed them (I'm a sucker for mole sauce ) but wanted to try something new. Last night I had the El Trompo Bowl (gluten free; choice of ground beef, shredded chicken, shredded beef or grilled vegetables; rice, melted cheese, black beans, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, corn, cheese and red sauce) with chicken & it was delicious! Perfect amount of crunch with great flavors. My husband had Tacos Dobiados (3 fried corn tortilla, filled with ground beef & pork mix, guacamole, sour cream, special tomatoes salsa, served with rice and "charros" beans). His go-to is fajitas, which he had the previous time & had a hard time not ordering again, but we both agreed we were venturing out & he was as glad as I was that he did bc these were outstanding! Perfectly crunchy & so many layers of delicious flavor throughout. We always try at least a bite of each other's & so far neither of us have had a bad bite of food! Our server was very attentive & helpful. So this is one of my few checking that I haven't taken. Pic or two. My BFF and I came here for lunch as I really wanted some chicken soup. So let me start by saying this is kind of like a sort of upscale Mexican restaurant but not in a costly upscale more of a fun I am in Acapulco kind of place vice a normal local place. The service was fast and helpful and took great care of us. We both ordered water, well I ordered plain and she ordered water with gas. I.e bubbly water. I ordered some chicken soup and she ordered a taco salad with chicken. My soup was spot on and very tasty. I really like chicken soup at any Mexican restaurant.
