Came here twice before. They have extensive menu and you're always started off with some solid tortilla chips and salsa. Margaritas are tasty and come in several different sizes so you can go as crazy or as conservatively as you would like. I tried the fajitas here before which were solid and last time tried the steak tacos; I tried to order 3 tacos alone but that wasn't an option; there was only a meal option. Additionally, there seemed to have been a miscommunication and I was charged for extra steak (not a big deal so just paid it) but there was definitely not very much steak (same amount or even less than my dining companion), but overall a solid meal otherwise. read more

Much better than the last time I was here. The guacamole azteca was absolutely delicious. It was so flavorful and had the perfect amount of acidity. The burrito verde was very yummy. The pork was a bit salty, but overall great flavor and the sauce was great! The daquiri wasn't great but others raved about their margaritas. Friendly service! read more

Definitely one of the top Mexican joints in the area. Chile relleno was so good! Chips & salsa were aite, rice & beans great, sauces really good too; even the regular tostadas were good! Not a fan of the ground beef though. It was just a flavor & texture you get over real quick, like Taco Bell "beef." Overall, a good place. Our waitress was amazing. She was very attentive & when she realized there was even a piece of onion on our plate, she made the kitchen make us extra food. Best waitress we have ever had. This is a former fast food place; the inside has been painted but it still looks the same on the inside. They have booths and tables inside with plenty of seating. Rio Grande has solid Tex-Mex food. It's the usual menu of lunches, combos, and specialties at a place like this. My regular order of a taco, enchiladas, and rice or beans has been consistent on repeat visits. I was in a celebratory mood on my last visit and ordered a medium margarita, not knowing that meant a two-hands-needed bowl sized "glass", so the margaritas are definitely good bang for your buck. I went to Rio Grande for the first time a couple days ago and I must say this is the best Mexican food I've had in our area. I've been wanting to try this spot out for years and just never got around to it and I'm kicking myself now for taking so long. Upon entering we were seated immediately and given chips and salsa. The chips were good, warm, perfectly salted and the salsa was delicious. I ordered the pollo asado and asked for green peppers to be added and my husband had steak tacos. My pollo asado was delicious!! Perfectly seasoned chicken, the rice was good, and beans were delicious. Everything tasted very authentic which I love. This will probably be my last time ever ordering a trash can margarita though as this is the 2nd restaurant I've had one at and it just tastes like lime juice and Red Bull. I always have to order an extra shot to faintly taste any tequila. It's huge and got a drink that size and not to feel a slight buzz just isn't for me. Solid food, I just wish the portions were a little bigger. If they were, this place would get 5 stars! The pina loca was my favorite, but kind of a small portion for $19. There was only one shrimp in the whole thing. All the dishes were yummy, I just left with space to spare in my stomach which is not usually the case after a Mexican feast. The star of the show was definitely the frozen mango margarita pitcher. AMAZING and tasted sooo fresh and like real fruit, not fake syrup! Hands-down, my absolute favorite Mexican food in the area. A good friend of ours recommended this place a while back and it took us forever to finally try it, but now that we have, we don't want Mexican from any other place. Lol. Every single thing we have tried off the menu has been fantastic. My husband loves the jalapeño poppers and their guacamole is fresh and so amazingly tasty. And if you do get the guacamole, they load you up with chips and salsa as well. Also very very tasty. I have gone with the Arroze Con Pollo as my entrée every single time and I keep meaning to try something different but it's just so good I end up going right back to it. My husband has tried a variety of dishes from burritos to chicken entrées and he raves about every single meal. If you're in the area I could not give this a higher recommendation. I've eaten enough Mexican food in my life, from all over the south west, to have earned the right to call myself a bit of a snob. As such I've been left disappointed with most of my experiences in upstate New York. Imagine my surprise when I lucked into this little gem right in my back yard! The selection was impressive, the flavor and quality were spot-on, and the prices were extremely reasonable. What impressed me most, however, was the incredibly friendly and attentive wait staff! Server was prompt and attentive and brought us the drinks we ordered and took our food order and was amaze at how quickly the food came out. It was hot and delicious. It's average for Mexican food, nothing special but it is one of the best in Syracuse/Outskirts their of. Also my order was delivered so that does impact my review. I ordered the chimichangas for my meal 3 stars, because they were soggy by the time they arrived I did enjoy the rice and beans (refied). My hubby ordered the three enchiladas ( Enchiladas supreme) which we were able to make the 2 chicken (up charged of course) and 1 beef cause it was suppose to be cheese. He did enjoy his meal as well. for his Meal 3 Stars...We had to pay for rice and beans separate because they didn't come with the meals. This I find pretty unusual because most Hispanic/Latin Restaurants always include that with there meals as a side. We also ordered Churros which are the best I've had around the Syracuse/Greater Syracuse areas. I called to ask about some things before delivery and they were very nice so for that it brought my 3 Star to 4 Stars. I wish they would pack their food differently so that it would not get soggy upon arrival. I would recommend their food because there's not many places to get Mexican from (Due to the fact of the many Mexican places in the area not cooking the food as well - I have learned to just cook it myself from recipes online). Rio Grande, located in the village of Liverpool is a popular place with decent food. Located in an old Burger King, it fills up quickly on the weekends. I'm a big fan of Mexican food so I'll be honest, I'm not easily disappointed by Mexican restaurants. The Good: The atmosphere is lively and they can accommodate us even when we dine out with friends when our party is around 10. I love the salsa and queso fundito. My go to order is the Burrito Ranchero. There is usually enough to get me lunch the next day too. My daughter loves the tacos too. The Bad: They seem to go through employee phases. One week you will have excellent Latin-X service and the next week it will be Highschool kid. Not sure what is going on there, but it still wouldn't prevent me from going. My wife is less impressed with Rio Grande. She is a self confessed Mexican food snob and is very hard to please. Her biggest complaint is that it just isn't flavorful enough. Finally: For Syracuse it is a pretty legit Mexican restaurant. I've had better in Arizona, but I don't have to buy a plane ticket to enjoy Rio Grande. read more

I came to this place two days in a row! I love that they give you free tortilla chips and salsa. I also love that the tortilla chips are hot and in different colors. The salsa is served in a cute carafe and you can pour it into a plastic guac-looking mortar. There is plenty of parking in their private lot. There is indoor dining only. They have both booth style seats and regular tables that can be pushed together for larger groups. For birthdays, they sing to you and let you wear a fun and large sombrero. I don't think you get to keep it but I am not confident. They have margarita options and Jalisco sodas but do not offer agua fresas or horchata. For dessert, they offer a lot of cake options but only a few Mexican dessert options that included xango and soapapilla. The xango was like a cheesecake flauta dusted with cinnamon sugar. The other dessert options included pecan turtle cheesecake, lemon raspberry cake, black raspberry ombre cake, vanilla cheesecake, chocolate cake and more. The food items I tried were the guac appetizer, Santa Fe burrito, combination platter #3, and la bandera. La Bandera was 3 enchiladas that came with three colored sauces (red, green and white). My fiance said the chicken in one of the enchiladas was a little touch. The chicken in the Santa Fe burrito was juicy and saucy. It came with a side of sour cream, pico de gallo, refried beans and Spanish rice. The enchilada combination came with Spanish rice, guac, salad and sour cream. Combination number 3 was came with chile relleno, a taco and an enchilada. The chile relleno had too much oily cheese on it for my taste. I love their large portions, ample menu options, casual and festive atmosphere and Mexican music. If you ask for your salsa and chips to-go, they'll sometimes just give you a whole bag of new and fresh tortilla chips. read more

The seafood fajitas were delish paired well with a blue margarita with one shot of Tequila made the dish even better. The waiter was friendly and very inviting. I love my Dominican heritage and even more when another people from other countries love our Bachata music as much as we do. I wanted to love this place. I've heard so many great things about it. We ordered for delivery via DoorDash which arrived quickly, but my enchiladas were so bland, the only thing in them I could taste was the ground beef that tasted like it came from a can and the rubbery corn tortilla (I ordered flour). Our chips were burnt and my daughter's order was wrong. My husband ordered a steak burrito that was fine and the rice was enjoyable. I don't say any of this to be insulting; I've heard people rave about this place so I'm not sure if we caught them on an off day or what, but it'll probably be some time before we give them another shot. read more
