Such a cute, family-owned winery -- it truly feels like a hidden gem! It's tucked away and has a peaceful, quiet atmosphere that makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a few glasses of wine. We tried a few of their wines along with a cheese plate, which made for a really nice, laid-back afternoon. The staff was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable, taking the time to answer questions and make us feel welcome. While some of the wines stood out more than others -- a few were really good and a few were just okay -- the overall experience was still very enjoyable. The setting is what really makes this place special. It's a beautiful spot for taking photos in the vineyard, and we loved seeing the farm animals around the property. My friend and I wanted to do a day in Napa and were specifically looking for a place that allows dogs, so we decided to try Tres Sabores. Bonus points that they have a Barbera and my friend is a fan! We booked the 10:30am tasting and as we were coming up from the East Bay Area, we hit a little bit of traffic and our ETA was 10:37am. I figured that wasn't a big deal given that their instructions were very specific only to the effect of being 20 minutes late, and I figured 7 minutes was well within the grace period. I also assumed, at worst, they'd simply hold us to our 90 minute tasting. All that to say that color me surprised when, as we were literally driving up the dirt road, I get a phone call asking about where we were. We both laughed it off and figured it wasn't a big deal. Sadly, seems like it was. By the time we parked and walked down to the picnic bench, it was 10:40 and our server made a snide comment about how we needed to catch up on our 60 (?!) minute tasting. It made us feel unwelcome and really rushed, even though the only other party seated near us (who had likely arrived at 10:30, or earlier?) was drinking the same wine. So I'd hardly say we were behind. Plus, the rose was garbage, so I was more than happy to take one sip and pour the rest in the spit bucket and move on. There are way better ways of handling a situation like this. For instance, bring us the first two wines together if we're truly behind, or bring the second one out quickly and force us to just move on. There's no need to be snide. The wine itself was fine, and nothing special. While their property is nice and has goats and is a lovely venue overlooking the valley, I've often said that this is an industry that is colored by the customer service and experience. And, in our case, it felt really inhospitable. There are plenty of places with better wine and better service. read more

What a fantastic hidden gem. The wines are fantastic and the staff a real delight. We tasted 5 wines and left with 5 bottles. Two of one and one other. Drinkable now but will out away for a year. Sara our host was gracious and friendly, very informative about their wines and the sustainability of the property. She was a delight. We also had the opportunity to meet the owners, Julie and John. Small Flavor Founded in 1999, Tres Sabores is proud to be one of the smallest producers in Napa Valley, focusing more on quality than quantity. We booked a tasting on the recommendation of Yelp and IG bud Katie R, as we're not that savvy when it comes to fermented grapes but figured since we're in Napa might as well do as the masses do. The Good: *The tasting was very causal and lots of good info about the grapes, wines, and the wine-makers. *Wine club that includes free tastings, invitations to special events, discounts, and more. *Dog and kid-friendly *Grounds are gorgeous, and I'd live to visit again in the spring. *All wines are certified organic *Generous pours at the tasting *Their Extra Virgin Olive Oil is excellent and worthy of a purchase. *Tasting fee is $60/per (starting June 1, '23), but the tasting fee is waived with the purchase of four bottles (per person). *They also give you a tour of the farm, which was a big plus for us when booking. *Nice, quality snackies to much on in-between tastings. You can bring a picnic lunch with you for no additional fee. *No charge for designated drivers and kids. Just great wine, beautiful scenery, and wonderful people - plus several friendly pups! To come here for a wine tasting is to enter into the heart of what it means to make wine. During our latest visit, we were fortunate to meet the newest member of the 'mower' brigade - a darling little black lamb that was born that day! Loved our tasting here! Tres Sabores was our first stop of the day on Sunday, and we were immediately greeted by Carrie, who was very sweet/knowledgable. She took us over to a large outdoor table, with pretty flowers, a view of the vineyard, and a cute little personalized sign (for my birthday). I loved learning about the history of the winery (woman owned & operated!) and all the wines we tried were fantastic. Carrie also brought out a few meat/cheese boards for us - one for white wine pairings, and two for the reds. I didn't try the meats but both cheeses were SO delicious, especially the goat cheese. There were also some lighter snacks, like nuts and crackers, and she even gave me a birthday (carrot cake) cupcake with a candle - adorable! The tables were set up with plenty of shade and a nice vineyard view, some crackers and nuts to snack on were brought out moments after we were sat, and the music was fun, giving the place a great vibe. The tasting room associates were very knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaker herself even poured us some. The pours were the perfect size, gave you the ability to really get a nice taste and determine the structure of the wine. The wines were delectable. Though I don't usually drink white wines, the white wines were just as good as the reds were. It was difficult deciding which ones to go home with, and if I lived closer I actually would've considered becoming a club member. Wines were also very reasonably priced, especially for Napa. Overall a great experience, I would recommend this winery and I would come back. Tasting was a bit expensive, but can be waived with the purchase of some bottles. We loved Tres Sabores - especially my energetic Labrador. It's a small vineyard but had an outdoor/indoor tasting room as well as picnic tables for large parries. We came when it wasn't too crowded and it was just us and a large party outside. We were immediately greeted by the golden retrievers as well as a couple dogs of the employees. They were very excited and curious to see our buddy. They're nice enough to allow dogs inside the tasting room - though be careful as our dog loves to play with theirs! We did the tasting and loved how it came paired with an assortment of small bites - cheese, charcuterie and chocolate - all included with the tasting! We liked the place and the wines so much that we signed up for the membership club. It's a really nice vineyard tucked away from the busier side of Napa but it was perfect for us. Speaking of wine, I guarantee that you will love it! You will be treated to a seated tasting of some of their most finest selections. I fell in love with the floral notes of their 2014 Rutherford Perspective Zinfandel! They also provided us with some yummy pistachios to snack on and conducted a delicious wine and brownie pairing! Talk about scrumptious! I can never say no to chocolate... never, neverrr. If you're a dog lover then you'll go head over heels for Tres Sabores. Not only are they dog friendly, but they have several sweet doggies of their own that happily roam the premises. WARNING IF CONSIDERING BRINGING YOUR DOG AND/OR CHILD(REN) TO TRES SABORES Yesterday, we tasted at Tres Sabores, bringing our 4.5 month old golden retriever puppy, Cody. Of course, Cody was on-leash and supervised during the entire time of our stay. During our tasting, we toured the garden and saw the lambs, and on our way back to the grove where we were tasting, we ran into 3x Tres employees and an unleashed black lab. We asked if the dog was friendly and if Cody could say hello. They said yes, and we let Cody do his usual dog sniffs and tail wags to greet the black lab. About a second after Cody was greeting, the lab showed his teeth and we immediately jerked Cody away, realizing the dog was aggressive. The lab (who is full grown and about 70+ pounds compared to our 30 pound pup) pounced on Cody, bit him, and pinned him to the ground. Cody's dad had to pull the lab off of Cody by the collar, while the 3x Tres employees, one of which we were later made aware was the lab's owner, stood by and did absolutely nothing. Cody was immediately drenched in his own blood and crying like we've never heard before. We immediately removed Cody from the situation and ran back to our picnic table, preparing to rush him to the vet for stitches. The rest of our party who heard Cody's cries came running over, and when they asked the Tres employees (who were still just standing there) if everything was okay, they were told everything was fine. Back at the picnic table, another Tres employee came up to us while Cody was gushing blood and asked if we were okay. Clearly not okay, we had to ask her for paper towels, soap and water, as well as the lab's owner. The lack of empathy and sense of urgency was heart breaking. The owner(s) of the dog (the associate wine maker as well as the owner of the winery separately claimed to be the owner of the dog, so it was unclear and ambiguous) finally did cone out and apologize. While I hope it was sincere, the owner of the winery / alleged co-owner of the lab, Jon, continued to make light of the situation, asking us small-talk questions like where we got Cody while we were focused on cleaning his wounds. He also said "I certainly hope this doesn't happen again.", which is absolutely irresponsible as a business owner. You should ENSURE this doesn't happen again by taking the proper and responsible precautions. While dogs are ultimately wild animals and out-of-character attacks can happen, the blatant negligence, irresponsibility, and lack of compassion is what is most upsetting. As a business, you have a responsibility to ensure the safety of your guest to the best of your ability and that is not what the team at Tres Sabores is currently upholding. As both a a business and dog owner, it is your responsibility to keep your dogs supervised and leashed to ensure safety to the best of your ability. While this situation was extremely traumatic, we can only imagine how much worse it would have been if the victim was a child. While we ultimately have no control over the actions Tres Sabores will take, we hope this helps make our community aware in the hopes that this never happens to others. -Cody's mom and dad read more

I cannot say enough great things about Tres Sabores Winery! Let's start with the property: Settled in the foothills of the Mayacamas, this place is picturesque. It is exactly what you look for in a boutique winery; from the tasting patio to the crush pad out back. The gardens and vineyards are immaculately maintained and best yet, all certified organic. The Wine: When I say we loved every wine, I mean we LOVED every wine. They are crafted so beautifully and none overdone in the "overripe" style many Napa producers are known to do. The rosé was delightful, our host snagged us a taste off the bottling line of the St. Laurent wine (so cool) which was an immediate crowd pleaser, and the Perspective Cabernet... Holy cannoli... that wine is some of the best Cabernet made in the Napa Valley. Lastly and greatly, the People: So many wineries in the Valley have great wine and beautiful scenery but so few have the best people to match. Tres Sabores has, hands down, some of the greatest people. Jimmy was our spectacular host. He explained the story of the property so clearly and the wines so beautifully and elegantly, we were lucky to have him. My group came on a Friday evening for our final tasting of the day and I was really looking forward to our visit based on all of the amazing reviews. Unfortunately our experience did not live up to our expectations to say the least. We had the pleasure of visiting two incredible wineries prior to our visit at Tres Sabores and I was absolutely astonished by how poor the service was relative to the other places we had visited. Our server rarely came by and whenever she finally did come to our table, she seemed completely disinterested in our experience and rushed through each tasting. We waited so long in between tastings that I eventually had to go find her twice to let her know that we were unhappy with the service we were receiving and she still refused to come over to our table. We were in Napa for a special occasion to celebrate a friend, and to end our day with such a terrible experience was a huge letdown for all of us. So there we were, starting our lunch yesterday at Farmstead, looking at a list with a lot of unfamiliar wineries, and trying to decide what to do. Focus Tom, focus, was all I could think. What do you know that you like? Move to the Zins, it's what you like, but there are still a few unfamiliar names. What exactly is 'Tres Sabores'? I've never tasted it, but it's not a problem. Farmstead gives me a taste. I'm sold, it will be fantastic with our lunches and it delivers. It was very reasonable priced, as I believe Farmstead is working to have great wine at a fair price. The wine is so good that mid-meal I call the winery and arrange for a tasting. Within an hour I'm sitting at the winery with the wine maker, Julie Johnson, hearing about the history of the winery, why she make the wines that she does, her preferences for organic grapes, and the sources of the fruit for the five wines that we get to taste. Let me just say that this is truly a fantastic experience, and very different than the main highway wineries. This is not a big corporate, impersonal, mass produced product. You don't get to wear a tour button, and you're not comparing tour guides to figure out who might be more fun on the tour. Nobody is giving you a lesson on how to swirl, sip, hold the glass, buy in the gift shop, or appreciate the quality of your stemware. Clearly you know that this 'Tres Sabores' is not for everyone. Every wine we tried we liked, she shared with us a Sauvignon Blanc, a Zin, a Cab, a blend, and a Petit Sirah. Again, we liked them all. Heck, we joined the club. Find this place, google them, call them, do not pass go, do not collect $200, slow down, relax, sip, enjoy. It's hard to believe that I've been going to Napa Valley for nearly 20 years and there is so much more than the main road. Julie Johnson, and those like her, are out there and worth the effort.
