We were in the area for a youth baseball tournament at Dorey Park and had about three hours between games in the middle of the summer heat. We were looking for a place nearby that could accommodate our group of about 35 people, including a team of energetic 9-year-old baseball players, where everyone could cool off, relax, and enjoy lunch. We found Trevor's Grill & Tavern online and weren't quite sure what to expect. We called about 15 minutes ahead to let them know a large group was on the way, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. They seated us on the enclosed patio, which was absolutely perfect for our group. The boys were loud, excited, and full of energy, and every member of the staff was incredibly patient, friendly, and helpful. They took everyone's orders quickly, the food came out surprisingly fast, and everything we ordered was delicious. Excellent service, great food, and a welcoming staff made what could have been a hectic lunch with a large youth sports team a fantastic experience. Great vibes and a great atmosphere, especially at night. We didn't realize it beforehand, but the night we went there was a DJ playing music that everyone could groove to. People were up dancing and having a genuinely good time, which made the whole experience even better. My friend ordered the wings and loved them. I had the cod, and it was absolutely delicious. The batter wasn't too heavy and stayed nice and crispy. The cod itself was thick and tasted fresh, like real fish. The fries were A1. My only callout with my dish was the tartar sauce. It had more of a sweet, Miracle Whip-type taste that was a little off-putting for me. It may not be that way for you. My next callout would be the timeframe in which our server got to us. I will say that there had seemed to be some confusion about assigned sections but once he got there, he was a rockstar. Suggestion: switch the lettuce that's underneath the fish with cabbage. It's holds up much better and helps with presentation as well. Their tea and lemonade mix was so good I ended up getting two cups and even took one to go. I will add that I once ordered the firecracker shrimp through DoorDash, and while I could tell it's probably great in the restaurant, it didn't travel well as takeout. We went to Trevor's Restaurant to celebrate our friend's birthday. The atmosphere was welcoming as soon as we walked through the door. The area was open, the lighting was dim for the dinner time, the customers were flowing in with smiles and the food was hot, seasoned, and delicious. You could tell there were definitely regulars and those new to the restaurant seemed to enjoy themselves as well. The food I had was horrendous. The grilled shrimp tasted as though someone had poured a whole box of salt on it. The string beans tasted as though the chef had poured hot sauce on them. Another relative was also not satisfied with her meal. This restaurant's food was highly recommended. I totally disagree. I was also shocked that this restaurant allowed smoking of cigars because they were not cigarettes not vaping. I have asthma, and I had to leave early. A lot of patrons were uncomfortable. We were greeted and seated immediately to a table with crumbs on it that I wiped away with my Hoodie sleeve. I went to the bathroom and it had 2 stalls which is nice. When I came back to the table our drinks were ordered and we added the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer. We ordered the lamb chops which I asked for them to be cooked medium and chicken Alfredo pasta. Shrimp appetizer came out and it was good. The sweet tea was good and sweet. The lamb chops were brought out and were not cooked the way I asked for them. I had to get our server's attention about the lamb chops. She immediately took the plate back and I was able to eat my sides of the mashed potatoes and asparagus. The chicken alfredo looked nice and was seasoned. The sauce didn't have much of a cheesy flavor. The chicken wasn't weird tasting like some other restaurants. 2nd attempt on making my lamb chops and still wasn't right but I ate few pieces and was ready to go. No manager came over to inquire on what was wrong. This place didn't move me at all. The server wasn't over the top. Will I return again? No. But my experience is different from others. read more

There were several HH beverage options that were $7 but I opted for the mango margarita (3.9/5) it was good overall solid drink. A few in my party ordered the lemon drops which they said were good. I sampled the firecracker shrimp (4.4/5) served piping hot, crispy good sized shrimp with a tangy sauce, $2 off apps on HH. Thursday special was the club sandwich ($13.95) and I opted to add onion rings (add $2), traditional club on good toast, plentiful overall solid sandwich (3.9/5) and the o rings were lightly beer battered, served piping hot (4.4/5). And Princess our waitress did an amazing job executing orders for our party of 7, she was knowledgeable, professional and super friendly! We are lunch here with a large group (about 20 people) and the whole staff was amazing. We were there with our soccer team which consisted of 10 teen girls and about 10 parents. We did not call ahead so we were a little worried they couldn't accommodate us but we were pleasantly surprised. Nikki our waitress was spot on, took all of our drink and food orders and even separated the check by player. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was really nice. The restaurant was very comfortable and welcoming. The staff were kind and helpful. We enjoyed our food and the presentation of the food. The only complaint I had was they didn't have salt and pepper on the tables and had to ask for ketchup for the fries. Thankfully, I didn't really need the salt, but I can't imagine they are going to get that right every time. The flavors of everything was really well done, I had the gulf shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. The shrimp came with garlic lemon butter on top. The vibe/service is always A1...your server makes sure to check in on you, and there's never a mean face in the place. TVs are in every direction, spacing is good, bathrooms were clean and wait times are minimal - reservations are even better. We started our date night with drinks at the bar here a couple of weeks ago. The staff was friendly and professional. The decor, sleek & stylish - very clean. Excited to have a local place serving craft cocktails - never thought I would be enjoying a smoked beverage in Eastern Henrico! Let me start with the good. I love the atmosphere. Now for the bad. I'll preface this review with a bit of info. I worked in the food/beverage industry for 38 years, dishwashing to management, fast food to fine dining, waiter, bar back, bar tender, busser, banquets, hotels, and nightclubs etc. I give a LOT of slack to people and know how it is if some slight mistakes are made, but this place put me off after I gave it 2 chances. 1st time I ordered the stuffed salmon, and it looked great,but the fish was really mushy, and obviously a lower grade salmon, and frozen . The dish was priced kind of high but not unreasonable so I had high expectations. Server was really new and young so I won't be too critical of that person. I know how that is! So, I figured I'd give it another chance. I placed an order for 2 burgers by phone, one medium, and one med/well, both with fries. I thought since it has the name tavern, and is near bubbas (which I've never been to) they might be competing for a great burger. I walked in the door to pick up my order, and there was a table of 8 on my right, the place has maybe 2-4 other tables of couples and a 4 top. The bar top was completely empty and not one barstool taken. The person behind the bar made eye contact, but immediately looked down at their phone on the counter behind the bar and didn't look up as I approached the empty bar. Not one person greeted me that worked there , and the bar tender never looked up from their phone. I said, "hello, how's it going?" They never looked up from their phone and said, "how you doin?" With no eye contact, until I said I was there to pick up a to go order. No friendly banter, or small talk, and no smiling. I was irritated, but you know how kids and some people can be these days with their phones, so let it go, and I was looking forward to a nice burger. Wrong! Got home and both were way over cooked, and obviously pressed with a spatula making them dry and hard, lettuce was sparse and wilted, tomatoes mushy, and they were end pieces, fries really cold, and I ended up throwing it out after a couple bites. I never bothered calling or taking it back because I know the biz well, and if a new place is that bad twice in a row chances are that it won't be anything past mediocre to bad every time. I really wanted it to be good, but they failed me twice and that's it. Never going back. I hope they improve on the service and food because the place has potential due to the location and the atmosphere.
