i had some concerns about switching here. They charged me a new customer fee. Sounded a litle bogus but the assured me they strive to be a good animal hospital. i did my first visit, fine, second fine, third apparently had to be a special visit i wasnt aware of, i didnt have enough money for the visit. i felt embarrassed i tried to cancel and they wanted to fine me. I only received the reminder that day and was caught off guard that it wasnt a tech visit. it was just for a vaccine, this was all from my confusion. Im a new customer. I tried to speak to their doc but they wouldnt let me. They developed an opinion about me and wouldn't help me anymore they clammed up. I wrote them a fair review, and they sent me an email telling me to seek services else wear, now i went here to make this review. I have a bad attitude, my life's hard. I cant be the patient one all the time. I know its hard to find good employees but maybe a reminder that there their to help the customers couldn't hurt. the office could of tried to call and explain why i shouldnt feel poor over this but they chose to let me go instead. SORRY to have to write this. Doctor S at Tri County charged $480 for treating my cat's ear condition. First time visit. The cat presented scabs and pustules on the ears. The doc did tests and gave shots all to no avail and the condition worsened and has since developed a sore on the mouth. Doctor S refused to offer another exam for a reduced or free visit. I visited VAT Hospital so many times for a scheduled appointment for my dog, and while the medical care I received was excellent, my experience with the front desk staff was far from pleasant. When I arrived, the receptionist was very unwelcoming, and the behavior was very rude and seeming more interested in finishing a personal conversation than assisting me. This added unnecessary frustration and stress to an already tense situation. I believe the hospital could benefit from additional training for their front desk team on how to handle patient interactions more professionally and courteously. While I appreciate the quality of care from the doctors and nurses, the first impression made by the front desk certainly detracts from the overall experience. read more

Unfortunately, my first interaction with Tri-County was end of life treatment for my pup of 16 years. The doctors and staff treated all of us with respect, gentleness and understanding. An exceptional staff is all I can say about this office! We were recommended by some friends of our after dissatisfaction with our old veterinary office. We took our 9-year-old lab here to see Dr. Torres as he was very sick, had a fever, and the shakes. Unfortunately, his prognosis was not what we were hoping to hear (cancerous tumor) but Dr. Torres and staff were there to help us get our labs fever down where we can now undergo palliative care for the rest of his days whether that be days, weeks, months, or hopefully years! Mackenzie was also exceptional and made us feel very comfortable. I went to Tri-County Animal Hospital because it was the one that had the quickest availability given my recent rescue had kennel cough. I was given medication and also needed a follow-up visit. The visit itself was fine. The issues stated after. I requested thru several emails and calls for my invoice to be emailed to me so that I could submit it thru my pet insurance. This took about 3 weeks to finally get resolved. I also ordered medication flea and tick thru 1 800 pet meds. They tried to contact Tri County to verify the prescription but were told they would not work with pet meds. I also tried after several emails to get Tri-County to email me the prescriptions. I was told that they again do not have time to take calls for medication authorization and I would have to come by and pick up the prescriptions, which I did and mailed to be filled. I also told them due to their horrible customer service that I would no longer be a customer. read more

I used to have nothing but glowing reviews for Dr. Silberman and his staff. However this isn't the same business I started going to approximately 10 years ago. We had 4 dogs at 1 point till my older guy passed and they were all regular patients of his. My dog had cancer treatment this year with the help of tri county and petcure. Everything was a success and I'm extremely grateful for the outcome. My dog is 8 years old and had a grand mal seizure this past Saturday. I immediately took her to tri county and they ran the tests they could run themselves and I had to make an appointment for an mri with petcure oncology to rule out the unlikely possibility of a tumor. Well tri county now has the test results and they said Dr Silberman wasn't in till Monday and Dr Torres is too busy to help. What a horrible and unethical approach to healthcare. We are waiting for the results of the possibility of a brain tumor on a dog that had cancer this year and I have to wait till Monday. That's unfair because you have never waited for a penny from me. Well you suck!! That's a horrible approach to customer care and retention. Businesses wonder what happened to customer loyalty well I wonder what happened to the loyalty a business once showed to its customers. Doctor Silberman took the time to text my exwife about me in a negative way because I demanded my pets results. Also said too bad I have to wait till Monday because he's away and they are too busy to have a Dr Torres call. He went on to state that his mom had to wait weeks for her results of an mri. Well Just because your mother received poor medical treatment in no way gives you the right to deliver the same to your customers. It's extremely sad that Dr Silberman found the time his supposedly didn't have to feed his pride by sending my ex wife a nasty email about me but lacked the character required to do his job. When you have to send out emails to your customers asking them to start treating you staff nicer you might want to send that email to your staff and ask the same in return. I can now say from my personal experience that it happens to be a direct result of the shortcomings in your own business. So instead of playing the victim role you should absorb the responsibility of your businesses failure and fix it. If you have to put out an email asking your customers to he nicer to your staff then there is a problem with your staff. I get over 60 calls a day and have been overworked, overbooked, and understaffed since Covid yet I never had to put up a message like that to my customers. My customers respect us because we take the time to respect them. In my opinion your email was classless, tacky, and now speaks volumes about your customer service. Dr Silberman once had a bigger heart for animals but it's apparent now his heart is much bigger when it comes to money. read more

I am so excited that Dr. Silberman has opened his own practice--FINALLY! He has been my dog's veterinarian for at least the last five years (probably longer, but who can remember). I initially saw him when he worked in Nutley. Since then, I moved from Kearny down toward Princeton. Dr. Silberman provided me with a few referrals to veterinarians who were close to my house but, honestly, not one ever came CLOSE to the level of care he provides. Here are a few reasons why: (1) My dog loves him--he lets her jump on him and kiss him to her heart's content. How many dogs like going to the vet? (2) He knows his stuff! Everything from the routine check-up to surgery--trust me, I've been through it all with him! (3) He explains tests, issues, and possibilities to me better than any doctor (human or animal) I've ever encountered. Needless to say, it's a good thing my dog loves long car trips because I would drive just about anywhere so that she could be seen by Dr. Silberman. If you are looking for a veterinarian, I strongly suggest you give this practice a try. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I have never in my life experienced such a horrible experience with the receptionists here and the vets. They recorded me without my knowledge and talked to other patients without me knowing. Then threatened me with my career to my boss to take down my review that I have previously yelped about being recorded. Which I did because I felt threatened. The vet was telling my boss if I don't take down the review, I would be fired! Mind you everything I said in the review was true. Which as an owner you can take down a review yourself if it's false. But no, I had to take it down myself or lose my job. After contacting them many times and the receptionist saying the vet would call back. They never did in till I told the receptionist I would take legal actions. Then the vet finally did call me back. The only reason the vet did call me back finally is bc I told the receptionist that I need to have a call back before I took legal actions. I would have accepted a simple apology in a heartbeat. But I never did. I have the recording and will be taking this further. There is absolutely no reason I should have been threatened with my job! read more

My cats went in for a teeth cleaning and came back with fleas. Both are strictly indoors, they never see other animals. I take very good care of them and am always paying close attention to their health and give lots of pets. I have NEVER seen fleas on them. I told the office they got fleas from there and Dr. Torres's response was basically just a denial it was from there and very rude about it too. They went in with no fleas I am absolutely positive (my one cat is all white and short haired and spotting the fleas he came home with was very easy). I think they are very knowledgeable there, I don't doubt this, but they are constantly trying to push certain products on us, like the royal canin food which is $40 for a 7lb bag. After the flea incident, we won't be back. Also $68 (each) for a 10 minute exam is out of control. **UPDATE** Upon seeing my review, Dr. Silberman called me while I was at work to "make things right" but instead ended up yelling at me for almost 15 minutes. I told him how uncomfortable I was with giving a topical flea solution but he ASSURED me that the Bravecto they gave me was safe. He belittled my safety concerns and talked down to me like I was an idiot. Being a chemist and understanding chemical and biological reactions, I was skeptical of the new topical pesticide approved only in 2014 (the many side effects are listed on their website and deaths are recorded by the FDA and EPA). He refused to listen to me when I tried telling him this. Obviously, Dr Silberman does not take the time to learn about the products he pushes and just blindly gave this to my cat (with an autoimmune disorder which centers around an unknown dermal allergy). My cat became lethargic and flatulent after applying the bravecto and now has lost all the hair on the back of his neck and I am monitering him for additional side effects. Chemical reactions like this to topical products is grounds to sue if he were human. Originally I wanted to give the pill Comfortis but dr Silverman didnt even know what this was....even though it is widely reccomended by vets due to its better safety than topicals. I take back what I originally said. They are completely unknowledgeable there. And they definately gave my cats fleas. read more

I found Dr. Silberman in a Nutley vet before he opened his new practice. My cats were all neutered/spayed by him. I've had cats my whole life, and never have they come home from these surgeries like they never even had them. Was told to keep them quiet, but they all ran around like it was a normal day. So, needless to say, when I found he opened his own practice, I did not hesitate to transfer records.. Since then, we've luckily only had preventive procedures and well visits, but Dr. takes time to explain everything thourougly, and answer any questions you have without EVER being condescending(like some other vets I have been to)..I never feel rushed, and it is always a calming experience for both me and my pets...Run, don't walk to this vet for optimal care, plus, he never tries to gouge you for unnecessary tests...LOVE read more

This is my first time writing a review, but I felt compelled to do so because I think the negative comment on here is inappropriately skewing results for this "new" veterinary hospital. Ironically, I went to see Tricounty for a second opinion on a $2,000 surgery that was proposed for my puggle. It was not a question of malpractice by another vet; however, I want to point out that it is not at all unusual for doctors of humans to defend each other--and, frankly, I'd have been suspicious of a veterinarian who began badmouthing another veterinarian to someone who had just walked in the door. It also seems that the doctor recognized that the interaction with that patient did not go well, and called later to try to work it out. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure service gets better than that. Anyway, the negative comment sounded to me like a one-off personality conflict, so I decided to give this place a try for a "what do you think?" opinion concerning an expensive procedure. The doctor simply won me over. He saw us on an emergency basis (even though he and his wife had just had a baby two days before), spent a ton of time with us, and explained everything. I didn't tell him how much the other vet had said the procedure would cost, but I was so impressed by him that I asked him for an estimate after our visit. His estimate was $300 less than the other veterinarian, and it INCLUDED a dental cleaning (I had asked about that). My dog has since had the procedure, and the office calls every day to check up on him. I've never had this experience before with a veterinarian, and I am so impressed that I plan to switch all of our dog's care over to Tricounty. read more

Took my dog there for about 6 months. Dr. Silberman is so great. He gave us all the facts and options and let us make the best decision for our pet and family. We ultimately needed to put my 10 year old chocolate lab down due to complications with Lymes disease. Everyone there was very compassionate. Dr. Silberman was so wonderful. He talked us through exactly what to expect and gave us all the time we needed to say good bye to our family pet. They gave us an imprint of her paw print in memory of her. TriCounty is not what they hold themselves out to be. I drove from the city when they told me to bring my dog immediately. They subsequently left earlier than they told me and did not return calls regarding my dog's care. Be skeptical and cautious of these vets. I boarded my 2 cats for an extended stay because we were moving out of state, and our new home wasn't ready yet.. My boys were to be sedated for the flight. At the airport(2:30PM), TSA, opened the carriers one at a time. One cat was sedated the other was NOT. I was horrified, and so concerned that he would have the most horrible time in-flight. Well, we all did, with a lot of turbulence that poor little thing was terrified. He also had fur in shape of a disc missing from around one eye. Extremely concerned over this because he has a serious eye disorder. He also had an infection of some sort, and was treated for that. Vet also claims to have dispensed medication for the trip. That did not happen. I, also, left their food for the 10 days. I do not understand how feeding, and cleaning out the litter pan can cost $35/day for each cat. $70 X 10 $700 for feeding and cleaning a litter pan. They didn't walk them...like a dog, which costs the same. Once we arrived, which was 10:30PM, they were taken from carrier and set in a room to decompress. The next day, I reviewed the bill, and discovered that the charges reflected that only one cat was sedated that day. Then I see a charge for a sedation (for the cat that was NOT sedated the day of the flight) on the day I dropped both of them off. So, 10 days prior to the flight, he was sedated. I didn't understand that at all, so I wrote to the vet, and he claimed that he was sedated on the first day for grooming, which I NEVER asked for. I simply left them for boarding. Still have no viable explanation for that initial sedation. The other cat had an ear issue, and I asked that he look at the ears. I was charged for an all inclusive/comprehensive examination for that cat. The costs at this place, over the past year, have risen to shockingly, and ridiculously amounts. I suppose they thought since I moved far, far away, that I'd not notice the slip up. And, that I'd forget to tell other people to be extremely wary of the "care" at this animal "hospital". BE EVER SO VIGILANT. And, if you have no other use of your hard earned money, go there. read more

I LOVE this veterinary practice! Dr. Silberman and Dr. Steele are not only wonderful at treating animals, but also their human owners. The two doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable, and the office is clean, modern, and efficiently run. The staff is kind and friendly, and many times when I've called with a question they've been able to put the doctor on the phone. If a callback is required it is done in a short amount of time. I used another veterinary practice for almost 20 years and decided to make the switch last year... I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend these doctors. read more

As an animal lover I am pretty particular about who takes care of my dogs. As a physician myself (M.D.) I know that there are a lot of doctors out there who just want to make their money and go home. After having an awful experience at another vet office I was referred to see Dr. Silberman over 8 years ago. Since then I have followed him around the state and was thrilled when he opened his own practice. I now travel well over an hour just to see Dr. Silberman without even a thought. Tri-County Animal Hospital and Dr. Silberman in particular are phenomenal. They genuinely care for their patients, calling before and after procedures to keep the owner informed. Any and all of my questions are answered no matter how long it takes-- without feeling rushed. I have referred many of my own patients looking for a vet for their animals. Every single one has stayed with the practice. They've all thanked me for introducing them to such a great practice.
