DO NOT USE THEM. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I'm writing this in the hopes you haven't hired Tri-State Repairs yet. If you you using them through your home warranty like I was (American Home Shield), you're likely going to learn that there's a clear theme to the feedback around this company (terrible, or rather none existent customer service, inability to make repairs, slow to schedule, no shows, and the like) and their relationship with home warranty companies that are equally disinterested in providing you effective and quality service with some semblance of accountability in the reviews. Everything about this company was an absolute nightmare and their repair attempts took over 2 months, with wrong parts ordered only to be discovered at appts and more than 6 visits before they threw in the towel and abandoned efforts to make the repair. Once they decided that they could not make the repair they told me that they submitted their report to my home warranty but they actually waited a full week to submit the paperwork and gave me a run around for that full week. They refused to answer questions, would hang up on me, or just talk in circles around a question as simple as "what day did you submit the report to AHS that you cannot fix the washer". I wasted an enormous amount of time trying to get help and they not only didn't try to help, they actively sabotaged my getting help from the home warranty to move towards another company for her or replacement. It's truly, terrible-- and I mean, a "how can a business get away with this level of terrible" with no way to hold anyone accountable, get any tangible assistance or feel like you're doing anything but going in circles. But because it would appear that most of their business comes from a contract with American Home Shield and perhaps other home warranty clients, there's no need to worry about actually earning anyone's business and AHS has no concern or platform for you to give them any feedback about your experience or satisfaction. The companies that contract with AHS to do the repairs get a lower than normal fixed fee ( think groupon) for their work, so they are not financially incentivized to prioritize the repair and this is very clear when the repair isn't easy and obvious or they have better paying work opportunities. I cannot speak to what happens if you were to hire them yourself, but my recommendation would to be consider other companies. read more

This is one of those companies where the repair man comes in and you have a gut feeling that he doesn't know what he's doing, and you really should just send him away before he does more harm than good, instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt. I stupidly gave him the benefit of the doubt and not only is our ice maker still broken, now the refrigerator is not level, and the refrigerator and freezer doors are both making horrible squeaking sounds, and I'm a little concerned about what else he may have broken. Extended warranties and companies like this are a scam - I personally will be contacting Home Depot to ask for my money back from the extended warranty we bought, and asking them to pay for someone to come fix my refrigerator for real. I will never buy an extended warranty from anyone but the manufacturer ever again. UPDATE: the repairman showed up at our front door the next morning without calling (we know when he came, we have a video doorbell), then called my husband saying "I'm going to be in your neighborhood later, can someone be at your house at 1pm". My husband specifically asked him if he was going to be doing additional repairs and he said yes. We had to drop everything and have someone go home to meet him to hopefully fix our ice maker. Turns out, he came back, looked around, found a tool that he had forgotten at our house, and left without doing anything to the fridge or ice maker. If you're looking to throw your money away, these are your folks. We have an issue with our 9-year old LG washer. We'd used this company in the past with success, so we returned to them, but unfortunately the company has gone way down hill since we last used them. The repair man arrived later than the stated window. We described the problem. He did not even look inside the machine and attributed the problem to a bad control board (though that was not the error code that displayed when the problem began) and left within 10 minutes of arrival, saying he'd have to see if they could get the part. Paid the service call fee (to be applied against repair) and waited a week. Called Tri-State to inquire about status and was told by the person at Tri-State that he'd have to "follow up with" the other guy. Another week has passed and no progress. Husband found the part after a 10-minute Google search. In this instance, Tri-State does not seem interested in fixing the appliance beyond a cursory diagnosis for a service call fee. It's lovely how these folks think you can just sit around without use of your appliance while they give you the run-around/no response treatment. I wish we'd paid by credit card so we could have our card company reverse the charge. We paid a "service" call fee to receive no more of a diagnosis that we guessed at ourselves, with no follow up or repair at all. So long Tri-State--you are dead to me. read more

Horrible experience and extremely rude customer service! Our Home Depot Protection Plan contracted them to repair a broken refrigerator. After speaking with Tri-State, we were told a new compressor was already ordered but it would not arrive for a week. After a week, the repair technician showed up. He did not have the compressor and he did not have any previous knowledge about the refrigerator. We then had to wait yet ANOTHER WEEK for Tri-State to actually order the compressor, and were told to contact them when the part arrived to our house. We have been without a fridge for well over a month and this was not the service we expected on our extended warranty. Completely dishonest business practices and a total SCAM. my washing machine broke down the other day ..humming sound only. i did a little research and figured it was the drive motor. i had used these guys over six years ago for a washer repair with good results so i figured i would ignore the bad yelp reviews and go with them again. they came by the next day,the repair guy had the washer apart in less than a minute and diagnosed it as a faulty pump and cell battery. he picked up the correct part from his parts center and returned in the afternoon and had the washer up and running in less than thirty minutes. all for less than $180 great service ! read more

This company was selected as part of American Home Shield for a Microwave repair. Below is my experience which started 3/7/2021 and ended today 5/22/2012. Technician responded the first time and diagnosed the issue and ordered a part. Another date was schedule to respond to install the part. The same technician responded and was working on installing the part for several hours. In the end the technician decided the repair wouldn't fix the problem and that another part needed to be ordered. He offered to take the microwave to repair it once that new part arrived so he could make sure the microwave worked before reinstalling it. This seemed reasonable. I noticed after he left, that he left without taking about 10 screws and a few broken pieces of plastic from the microwave. Fast forward a month and a half (multiple calls for status updates without any change), and I'm told the microwave is ready to be installed. I'm told the technician would be installing on a Saturday when I had other plans. Rather than continue to have a huge hole in the kitchen, I cancelled my plans and waited to meet the technician. The technician showed-up on time but without my microwave. He showed up to tell me in person the microwave was unrepairable. Who does this???? I'm willing to understand that an appliance may simply be unrepairable, but why #1 state you can do the job when you can't and #2 why do you schedule an "Install" just to tell me "yea, it's unrepairable and I wanted to tell you in person." This company has my email, cellphone #s and the American Home Shield contact information. After the technician left, I called to find out what happened from the company. They had no idea that the technician took my microwave and that he deemed it unrepairable. What a horrible company. Absolutely atrocious. Steer clear! read more

Totally incompetent. They literally deserve zero stars. They were sent to repair our washer through our warranty company HMS (also terrible). They came out twice and were unable to fix it. The tech that came out advised us that he would let our warranty company know that the washing machine needed to be replaced and we could call them next day to make arrangements to replace it. TriState never reported anything back to our warranty company after two weeks. I called them every single day and the two guys who answer the phone lie constantly about having submitted the assessment. My warranty company asked them to come out a 3rd time and they didnt show up. Now we're stuck without a washer after a total of 7 weeks of waiting. This company is a scam. First, these guys are fantastic! Set up the repair through Home Depot (thank goodness for the 3-year repair plan). Called Tri-State to see if they could come a day earlier, which they happily said "yes." Followed-up this morning to ensure they had the right address as Home Depot left off the unit #, and they were very professional and confirmed they were coming this morning. They called 30 mins before arriving like promised. In 30 mins the dryer was fixed and I was happily doing laundry again (okay that might be a stretch---but I am doing laundry). Originally I thought this was a good company and reputable. They came right out and "allegedly" repaired my Kitchenaid dishwasher on Jan. 22, 2018 which was still under warranty. They additionally warranted their work "parts and labor" for 90 days. My dishwasher stopped working with same problem on this past Friday, March 23, and according to Tri-State Repairs warranty, on face of receipt, this work should still be under warranty (for "parts and labor") until April 22, 2018. Unfortunately for me, after 2 phone calls to Clark with Tri-State repairs today I am informed that that warranty is not any good. Their 90 days parts and labor warranty does NOT really mean 90 day parts and labor warranty. I would never recommend this company as their warranty is not really a warranty - its a false promise so therefore, this is not a trust worthy company to do business with in my opinion. UPDATE: Just had new appliance repair company come in and tell us we need the drain pump replaced - yup - same part Tri-State Repairs left me a receipt saying they replaced. New company says part is factory and has never been replaced. What a fraudulent and distasteful way to do business. But guess what guys - easier to do the right thing. He kept me waiting all day until 5:30pm. He did not answer his phone nor call to let me know. My time matters to me like yours does. We have tried to get our dishwasher repaired under warranty for over 30 days. These people are totally unqualified to fix anything. After three visits on 11/17/2017 they told us it was working but that my husband had installed it wrong and told him to fix some things and then it would be ok (the dishwasher was working fine before the pump died in early October). My husband fixed issues and we attempted to run. It still DID NOT DRAIN. Water leaked from the door (another thing they were supposed to have fixed). If I could give them a zero star rating I would. My husband and I have taken multiple days off this month for this company to come fix our dryer. They were supposed to come out between 12-4 but the tech showed up at 9 am while we were both at work. Then the next time they came out said that someone got hurt so they still weren't coming, and then again two days later the tech called to say he was out of the area. Now two more days later they said they weren't coming out because we weren't scheduled which is a complete lie because we were. Don't even bother with this repair company you can make all the appointments you want but they'll never come out to fix anything. You're wasting your time. They helped us once before so we def wanted to use them again! Biggest mistake ever. Our washing machine washing draining the water. My husband said it was the same prob as Sept 2011 when my thongs got stuck in the catch. He said he was 100% that it was due to the door lock being broken. A small piece was broken off from the door being slammed too hard. So, he's the expert & said he's been doing this for however many years, so he did his thing. WASHER NOT FIXED. $250.00 WASTED for something that A) didn't need to be fixed B) a part that cost $25 on the internet that my husband or his friend(s) could've installed ESPECIALLY WITHOUT PAYING RIDICULOUS LABOR COSTS. C) yet another day of doing no laundry D) another day needed to stay home and wait for a tech to come and fix the ACTUAL problem; the one that he was ALREADY told was the problem-By a guy who isn't even trained in this field aka my husband. Worst part is....it gets better. Well, worse in my case!! I had written a check for the first service. The tech called my husband & said that he didn't take the check with him. We told him that he did so & we both actually watched him put it in his silver case & that the check was not at our house. He said that the company needed payment, so we gave him our debit card number. Well, like I had thought - check was cashed AND debit card was charged. Are you kidding me?! What else would you expect though from a company that promises you that he was fixing the problem; only to charge you a few hundred for it to not even touch your problem. Bravo on the easy way to pocket more of my hard earned money when I was most vulnerable. Not cool. I called and asked for the owner/manager to call me today regarding this issue-MAJOR ISSUE. DO NOT EVER USE Tri-StateAppliance repair. Tri-State should TRY a little harder to meet their appointments. Very unreliable! One star is one too many! They gave me a window of 11 - 3. We agreed that they would call my work number 20 minutes out so i could meet them. No calls before i left work so i get home by 1:00 and begin the dreaded wait. At 2pm i call the office and they assure me he will come this afternoon. He's just running late. At 5pm i call again and they seem surprised that Jay has not arrived. They try calling him (with me on hold for 10 minutes) and tell me that he's not picking up his phone although office assured me that he will show up. Office staff was leaving for day so they provided me his work cell number. I call and left a message explaining that I expect him to honor the appointment. About 6 pm he calls and says he will not be coming. He said he called my work number earlier in the day but decided not to leave message. I asked him how would i know he called since he didn't leave a message. He said it was my fault that i didn't answer the phone. You would think even a moron would know to leave a message and number. Clearly i'm mad that he didn't show up nor call to let me know he was running late or in this case, let me know that he was canceling the appointment all together and I let him know it! By the end of the call, Jay didn't like my logic & questioning and declined to perform the repair ever which is fine by me. My dishwasher was suffering from an issue where it continuously restarts when running a cycle - thus never ending a cycle. I had an extended warranty and the warranty company engaged this outfit to come out and do the repair. Without going into too much detail, the tech came later than the given 3 hour window and only responded after I first called to track down what happened when he didn't show. When the tech did arrive to do the work, he did not debug the unit at all - he simply checked the drain (found no issue), and replaced a water sensor that he had from some prior repair job. Only after this did he try to reproduce the problem. After watching the unit continuously reset, he decided he had no idea what the issue was and left. All I needed at that point was the repair shop to call my warranty company to indicate that it was either repairable with an estimate or not repairable. This shop instead chose to drag on for another two weeks by lying about scheduling a 'super' tech the next day, or ordering the control board and waiting a week for that part to show up (no, the part was never ordered, no, there was no super tech on the way). These folks appear to be dishonest and do not have their customer's best interest at heart. My resolution only came when my warranty company decided to follow up (2 weeks later) and replace the unit. This company goes by the name "Appliance Repair Experts, Inc." too. This company deserves 0 stars. Never use this company, no matter how desperate you may be. We did not choose to work with this company. They were assigned to us by Sears Warranty Home Plan (never get that plan either). The tech guy, Faleem, came to our house, broke our freezer door and scratched the wood flooring in front of the refrigerator. He insisted our freezer's ice buildup was due to food clogged in the freezer (it was not). The very next day the same ice buildup came back. We called them again, they came out and this time claimed the problem was structural(the freezer door was broken). Geez, I wonder who broke that?! There was still a mechanical issue that ultimately broke down the entire refrigerator. We called this company many times to have no one help us or give a damn. So, we're gladly taking them to court. Don't deal with this company. If you do, don't say you weren't warned. read more
