I called Tri Tech to replace my gas fireplace fan motor that seized up. I gave the fireplace model number to get the replacement part and was told they have parts on the truck and may have it. Josh was sent to clean the fireplace, but he did not have the part. He cleaned the firebox and did not remove the fan motor. That cost $239. He said it's a common fireplace and took the model number from it for a replacement fan. It was the same model number we gave before he came out so he could bring a fan with him. He called the next morning with a quote for another $465. for the new fan motor and installation. The man at the office called with the part number and said that it's an odd fireplace (Josh said it was common), he gave the part number and told me the cost for installing the part is $465. - $95 for a return trip, $150 for the fan - part number FP1908 (online it's $74.60.) plus a minimum charge of $200. Because the fan was not brought on the first trip, it will cost and additional $315. It appears their business model is to make two home visits instead of doing the job all at once. read more

Replace blower in air conditioning. Very quick service, I was concerned about the possibilities of temperatures rising as I have struggles with heat due to COPD issues. Called for fireplace service. The charge was $239.00 to service and diagnostic. Result was finding a faulty IPI module. They charged me an additional $266.25 flor the IPI module. Total charge was $548.20 after tax. After the technician left I was still stunned by the charge and did some research. You can buy the exact same IPI module from multiple sources for $45.95. When I called to complain they charged me too much, I was expecting them to realize they made a mistake. Instead, they doubledowned on that price claiming that was also for labor. The receipt I have is $266.25 for the part. They are trying to tell me the difference in price is the labor. Folks, this unit requires no tools, no disassembly to replace. It literally takes about 90 SECONDS to unplug the old unit and plug in the new. A child could do it in under 2 minutes. They literally charged me 5 times what that part should cost. IMHO, shameless. I all ready paid them $239.00 for labor. They are double charging for labor. So, the guy was here about 1 hour, some basic math: the total charge was $548.20, minus the $42.95 for tax and minus $45.95 which is what the part is worth, that's a balance of $459.30 for LABOR OF ONE HOUR! This is literally obscene, a brain surgeon might make $459.30 per hour but not a fireplace technician. Responding to Tri Tech Your technician spent about an hour of actual work on my fireplace. If your "GPS" recorded otherwise that statement is as misleading as your other statement, the total time on my fireplace was approximately one hour. The people reading this post will recognize that a service truck parked outside your address is NOT a direct reflection of the actual time working. Regarding your assertion that I got the price for the IPI unit from Amazon, I never said that. What I did say was that I found the unit for $45.95 from multiple sources. You must have found that on Amazon yourself by speculating how I busted you for overcharging. Let's assume (and it's not correct) that the labor was 2 hours. Then you are admitting by your post that you charge over $200 per hour for labor? So, the truth is your charging your customers 5 times what the actual cost is for a replacement IPI and then trying to blame me for posting verified information, I have the receipt, I know how long the technician actually worked on the fireplace because I was here . You are Overcharging your customers for a part and when caught you're blaming it on labor. Never again. read more

Called them again the next day because I still smell some gas leak. Mason came again and resolve the issue at no additional cost. Way too expensive. I had a furnace fan blower motor problem. I took out the motor and blower assembly and took it to Tri-Heating to have them test and replace the motor. Zach proposed a diagnostic visit because he didn't want me to waste money on a motor if the problem was something else. I agreed, for $250. The technician came out, and said it's the motor within 10 seconds for the $250. The new motor would cost over $800. Not reduced by the $250. Total cost over $1000, $800 plus $250, a reasonable charge is $300-$400. Don't call them, too expensive. read more

Tri-Tech heating installed my Heat & Glo SL-5-IFT, gas fireplace a little over two years ago. We use it often and like it's features. I'm 76 years old but still try to do for myself. The fireplace is vacuumed regularly, the glass is cleaned, and over all it has worked well. Recently I noticed that the blower motor was intermittently making noise. The noise would vary with motor speed so I knew that the motor was probably on its last legs. I called Tri-Tech to discuss my problem. I was told by the service coordinator that the fireplace had a five year parts warranty so not to worry. She told me that a service call without the need for preventative maintenance would cost $169.00 + tax. I figured that that charge would allow me to get a new motor no effort on my part to remove and replace. That sounded perfect. I scheduled the service call. Service technician, Josh, showed up on time and once he looked at the fireplace he stated that a preventative maintenance was NOT required. The fireplace was clean and neat. We discussed the blower motor replacement. Josh went out to his truck. I figured he went to get a new motor. When he came back in he stated; " The blower motor is considered an add on and is only warranted for two years." To replace the motor and installed the new one would cost me $562.00 + tax. I told Josh that was NOT going to happen. He went back to his truck to write up the invoice. I called the Tri-Tech service desk and explained my disappointment and the misinformation I received prior to the service call. She stated that she could understand my frustration. She could not remedy my question and said she would turn it over to Tri-Tech's manager. Josh came back in and presented me an invoice for $169.00 + tax, coming to $183.21. I told him that I was going to speak with Tri-Tech's manager to see if he would give me some consideration for their switching up the information on warranty. I received an email from Zach at Tri-Tech manager. He stated that the service call was already discounted because no preventative maintenance was needed. No further discussion was needed, pay the invoice. I don't go around looking for free stuff. I called Tri-Tech in good faith that they would know their product line and give me correct information. They gave me incorrect information and I paid them their invoice amount. I have worked all my life from age 17. I pay my debts and expect people to do their job. I believe I was treated poorly by Tri-Tech. I believe Tri-Tech dishonored themselves concerning this situation. I won't be using them in the future. A long story but I felt the need to amplify this to inform other potential customers to ask more questions to ensure the validity of the information received. read more

We contacted Tri Tech to check out our gas Rinnai tankless water heater as we were receiving an error code "12". Upon doing some research we were aware Code 12 indicated a flame failure. Trevor came out and was prepared to do regular maintenance on our unit. He cleaned the flame ignitor and then moved on to do the rest of the maintenance. He was unable to remove a screw to get to the burner and I soon realized he did not have metric tools. After quite a few tries, he finally let me know he was going to need to go to the hardware store to buy metric tools (and he wasn't going to charge me for the time he was gone to the store). He left for the store, came back and again attempted to remove the screw. He was using quite a lot of force to try to get the screw out and informed me it was stripped - which it was not before he began. After attempting to remove the screw for more than 20 minutes, he started putting things back together to see if the cleaning of the flame ignitor had corrected the code we were receiving. He put everything back together and we tested it (running hot water) and the issue had resolved. He's a nice young man, however he was not trained specifically on Rinnai water heaters, only with OTJ training for a few weeks and the fact that he didn't know he would need metric tools to work on the unit was a bit surprising. I was concerned he was going to break something with the force he was using to get the screw out to no avail. We will not have Tri Tech back to our home, but will go with another company. Jason came a bit early, listened to our take on what was wrong. Then he took at a look at our old A/C and Furnace. He told us what a new one would cost....not bad but we needed help today, it's going to be re ally hot this weekend. We will be working with Jason in the fall to check out the furnace. Then a new AC unit next summer perhaps. One way or another we have a plan to stay comfortable. This company has been my go to since I moved here. Not inexpensive but you need a comfortable home. Everyone I worked with, from the salesman Ray to the install technicians Shea and Anthony were kind, professional, accommodating, and very efficient and hard working. We called and asked for someone to come price compare what the repair costs for our current fireplace would be vs. buying a new fireplace. they ended up sending a technician that charged us $200 to quote repairs but had no idea how much a new one would cost because that's not his department. I called the sales department and weeks later a sales person showed up. They spent all of 3 minutes in my home. Not discussing anything with me, they measured the fireplace surround and then tossed me the booklet of options and left. At this point we wanted to go with a different company but it was heading into the fall and everyone we called was booked up. So we called tri tech and told them we wanted the basic model-no bells or whistles. Because no one had actually discussed options with us I did not understand that the basic fire place does not come with a fan. The crew who installed it just left me the remote when I asked how it worked I was told "I don't know, I haven't played around with this model". It took a few minutes for me to realize there was simply NO FAN so the fireplace wasn't heating anything except the 3' square in front of it. when I called back I was told that I had agreed to the standard model and basically that it was my problem. read more

I scheduled a repair for my gas fireplace. The technician called before coming and arrived on time. He was polite and courteous and showed me what was the issue before giving me options on repairs. I was very happy with his work and he got the fireplace up and running and a new fan. I am, however, giving the company 3 stars because they charged me $110 service call fee. I spent $500 on the repairs which included a part that is about $100 online. I can understand charging a service call fee but it shouldn't be charged when a customer pays for the repairs, especially when I approved the repairs and paid for it at the time he was here. Pretty deplorable and a bad business practice. Just for reference my total bill was just shy of $600 and the repairman was here about 30 minutes. So that makes it $1200 an hour. I don't know doctors that make that much. I would not recommend them until they change the policy and will change my review to 5 stars if they credit me back my $110. Until then avoid them as they are going to charge you a lot. read more

I had the company repair my Lennox mini- heat pump. They charged me for drive time, an hour for work that wasn't done because they brought the wrong equipment, for a total of 3 hours at $585. Then they came out with the right equipment and charged 1.5 hrs of drive time. I feel they padded the bill and just expect me to pay. This is where inflation is coming from. Companies just bill what they want and expect you to pay. read more

We just moved into our 20-year old home in Felida in September and our Heat-N-Glo gas fireplace quit turning in mid-November. Tri-Tech Heating & Cooling was able to get a technician out the next week. Tom was very helpful and able to diagnose the problem quickly. They even replaced a broken knob on the gas flow valve. We have both been real estate agents here in Clark County for over 31 years and have been successful due to our loyalty and customer service. Had we not treated our clients with dignity and patience we would have not succeeded all those years. This is the downfall of Tri Tech ! We have been loyal to them for many years, have referred many clients to them and when it came to our commitment to have them install a new furnace and heat pump in our rental property we soon found we were just another whoever. It was our honest mistake our deposit check bounced we were changing accounts around at our credit union and failed to move adequate balances along with the change. This was all in a 48 hour time frame. Our credit union even over apologized for not covering the check and waived the overdraft fee times two! Tri Tech on the other hand treated us as though we were almost criminals and demanded we bring in a cashiers check which we did and also charged us the overdraft fee and would not negotiate it whatsoever. Ok.....we kept our commitment although felt strange as though we had done something terribly wrong on purpose. When the job was complete we get a call from Brenda the owner almost accusing us of not being there the day of completion to pay the account in full, when in fact we were waiting for this call. Demanding another cashiers check for the balance due was insulting. She made it very clear that our bank check would not be acceptable. Their lack of understanding is unacceptable. Had we treated our clients with such disrespect we would have never succeeded, which we never would in the first place. We are assuming Tri Tech will stand behind their warranty which we hope to get before we pay the balance due. We will definitely refer our clients elsewhere and when we need service look elsewhere as well. Prices are competitive in this business and customer service will win every time. read more

I'm not sure how well they actually perform as I never got a chance to discover. I tried scheduling an appointment and it took a few days for someone to get back with me. The gentleman I spoke to said that he was out of town and would get back with me when he was back. It was then holiday, so I totally understood. Flash forward, he contacted me and said he was swamped and would try to come out on a particular day and time. I told him that I understood if he didn't make it and it wasn't an emergency, so I could wait, but to contact me when things had settled down.
