We chose that system because it gave us the alternate brand of Carrier, at a competitive price. But now, suddenly, the system went down, maybe because of a power surge. We don't know. But on the same day of our request, Vitaliy came and checked it out, ordered parts, tried to get it running in backup mode, but that wasn't going to happen. But he went the extra mile and then some. Oleg and his team did an outstanding job for me on a difficult and complex job. They replaced a basement forced air natural gas furnace and an outdated air conditioning system with a Mitsubishi heat pump with hyper heat, re-ducted my basement in a clean and streamlined fashion, and installed new ducted air handlers on the third floor of my house. Oleg is innovative, creative and resourceful, and was able to figure out the best and most efficient way to bring zoned heating and cooling to each of the floors of my temperamental 1907 house. With the temperatures soaring past 90 degrees this past weekend, I was astonished at how cool and comfortable the system kept the second floor. Most astonishing to me was to see the electricity usage -- we actually used LESS electricity (about $3/day according to Pacific Power) on the days that we ran the cooling! I have never previously written an online review, but my recent experience with Central Heating makes me feel like I need to. After being away for six months, I arrived home last week to find that my HVAC system would not work. The fan was unmoveable--frozen solid--and since it is a 20+ year old system, I figured that I would probably, however reluctantly ($10000), finally have to replace it. After checking out the top-rated HVAC companies in Vancouver, I decided to go with Central precisely because it is smaller and I would be dealing directly with the owners responsible for the whole business, rather than with some, perhaps less committed, employee. I called Oleg, whose message suggested I might expect a reply within two days, but in the event, he called back within the hour, and we set up an appointment for a couple days later. No crisis, since the temps have been pleasant and mild. Two days later, Vitaly came out, and when I described the problem, he confirmed that, IF I needed a new unit, I would be looking at a total replacement and a 10k bill. But after examining the unit, he suggested that, before we did anything drastic, we could try just replacing the motor and capacitor and see if that did the trick. Two days later, he arrived as scheduled and within an hour, he had replaced the motor and, sure enough, he had the system running fine. Total bill, including labor: $600, which, according to my math, is Way less than $10k. So---responsive, prompt, reliable, with an eye to keeping costs as low as possible. Sounds good to me! Post-pandemic, we have gotten used to overtaxed services, broken supply chains, and much higher prices. It's wonderful to see a business that can still do the job quickly and effectively for a very reasonable cost. Don't be deterred by the fact that they are a smaller company.
