The Precision team installed a new Goodman AC unit recently at my house. It works BEAUTIFULLY keeping the house very cool but there is a slight pulsing noise I still hear from the compressor. Tim and Eduard (and others on the team) have been and are working diligently to help quiet the noise down for me. I am unfortunately sensitive to noise. The entire team has been VERY prompt in addressing my issues and in coming out to my house. We are almost there in dampening the noise a little further. I'm not a big reviewer, but I had a very not good experience with this very highly rated business and I feel like warning others is appropriate. We recently purchased a home. The sellers had installed 2 new direct-to-consumer brand (Zokop) heat pumps with 4 heads (2 for each) in the home roughly 1 year ago (they are not providing records, but this is a reasonable estimate). After move-in, we noticed an error on the head unit in our son's room. Precision had previously repaired a broken AC at my small business 2 years ago. It was a good experience then, so I was excited to hire them again. They sent 2 technicians to our house, Edgar and Dylan, to service the units and diagnose. Long story short: Dylan broke the fan in one of the good units, which was maybe a year old (per Edgar's estimation based on some technical detail about Freon...you'd have to ask him) and previously working perfectly. He stuck a probe thermometer in the unit to check its efficiency and then caught the fan blade with it as he pulled it out. There was a CRUNCH and 3 bits of plastic fell out. He said "what was that?" and otherwise shrugged it off. No apology. No taking of responsibility, no solution or assessment offered. Completely unprofessional. I stayed calm, paid for their service, and got them out of my house. They assessed the issue with the other unit to be a Freon leak and quoted for repair. Shortly afterwards, I did a small amount of googling and concluded it was likely the fan. The following week, their office called to schedule the leak repair and I asked to speak to the service manager. His name is Wendell. He asked for a photo of the broken pieces (same one I'm posting here) as well as a photo of the label on the unit, which I also provided. He said he'd see what he could figure out. 1 week went by, I called back, he said he couldn't find anything about the unit or source parts, but if I find the part, they could install it. Not a good solution. I stayed calm and said I would think about it. Here's the thing, I'm also a repair-based contractor. Sometimes, I make a mistake and break something. We're all human, but our mistakes are our responsibility. I can't imagine breaking a customer's perfectly good thing and then just acting like, well, nothing I can do. Total BS. You can't find the part? Buy us a new unit. Too expensive? File an insurance claim. You came into my house, broke a new, working thing, and then left me high and dry. Completely unacceptable. Anyway, I thought about it, decided I don't want these clowns in my house again, and I don't want to keep asking them to act like adults with a sense of responsibility. I hired another company to fix the freon leak. They charged $100 more than what Precision quoted me but also did the assessment and repair the same day. That technician verified these pieces are from the "blower wheel," which is just another word for fan. I still have not resolved the issue with the fan Precision broke. They have a responsibility to make this right, but I'm sure it's on nobody's to do list. Maybe they read their reviews? read more

In 2018 we moved into our house and soon discovered that we needed to replace the gas furnace. It was a very unwelcome surprise at an already stressful time. After getting some bids, we hired Precision. They were friendly and professional as they installed a new Rheem furnace at a good price. Their expert work relieved our stress, and we haven't had to worry about our furnace ever since. But the condensate pump is older and it recently malfunctioned. It wouldn't stop pumping after the trough was empty. I finally flipped the breaker to prevent it from overheating. Again, it was stressful because we were heading out of town and we wanted our cat to have A/C but we didn't want to leave the the pump connected if it might overheat. I disconnected the power supply to the pump and made an appointment with Precision. Today Moses came to diagnose the pump issue and do a tune-up of the furnace as well as the older A/C unit outside. He explained everything he found in a friendly and coherent manner. The pump seems to be ok although he explained how we could install a better one that will turn off the furnace if the alarm on the pump went off. I decided to keep an eye on the old pump and vinyl drain tube for now. Since we have only relied on Precision to service our furnace and A/C, and since there are upgrades we can potentially hire them to do in the near future, I opted to sign up for their Preventative Service Plan. It gave us discounts on the tune-ups Moses did today and the new capacitor he installed on the A/C. And with the membership we'll get discounts on anything Precision does for us over the next 12 months. We're sticking with Precision because they always provide excellent customer service. read more

The tech who came to do my service was Moses, and he was terrific! He was on-time, personable but professional, and very knowledgeable. He communicated with me throughout the service. As he worked, he shared with me some things that he was noticing would eventually need some work, with approximate costs, and then left it up to me as to what I wanted to do on that particular day. My upper level heat pump went down and I had Precision Air send a tech (Samuel) out take a look at it. The issue was quickly diagnosed as a bad fan which was ordered and replaced within a week, now it's back up and running like new. Like another reviewer mentioned, I too had another company come out and try to sell me on an entire new system coming in at $15,000 and change when the fix was simply a bad fan motor. Definitely recommend calling Precision first. read more

Avoid Precision Air - Dishonest Sales, Incompatible Install, and $3,600 Extortion Threat I contracted Precision Air for a $20,600 install of a Carrier two-stage furnace and five-stage heat pump. I was assured--both in writing and in repeated verbal conversations--that this system would deliver five stages of efficiency. What I didn't realize until later: the equipment they sold me was incompatible. The competing quote I received (only $1K more) was for a properly matched Carrier Infinity system. On install day, the tech reiterated I'd get full 5-stage operation. A senior tech came and left, and the onsite tech mentioned I might need a Carrier thermostat. He had one, said it was included, but didn't install it. I asked the office to clarify--no one called. Day 2 of what was sold as a 1-day job, the tech forgot the thermostat, said again I probably needed it, and again I asked for clarification from the office. Eventually, a manager called--not to explain, but to admit the equipment was in fact incompatible and I'd need an entirely different heater and thermostat to get the performance I was promised. When I asked why he hadn't called earlier, he said he was "contemplating what to tell me." I offered to pay $1,000 more--the difference between their bid and the correct system another contractor quoted. He said he'd finalize pricing that day. I got a vague voicemail recapping our talk, no numbers. After the holiday weekend, I had to chase them, only to be told they'd decided they weren't at fault and demanded a $3,600 change order. This was for their own mistake, which their techs and manager already acknowledged. By this point, the job was already 7 days in, I had exposed wires, a non-functional heat pump, messy install work, and no confidence in their office team. I said I'd rather pay someone else to fix it, and was threatened with a lien on my home. Eventually, I paid the full $24K just to get it over with. The field crew was apologetic and clearly frustrated with their management. As a final insult, I came home to a flooded garage from an improperly installed condensate pump. They fixed it--but it summed up the whole experience. I confirmed with Carrier: this company absolutely should have known better and never should have sold or installed incompatible equipment. I've owned two homes and replaced HVAC systems before. I've worked with dozens of vendors. This was by far the worst and most exhausting experience I've ever had. Do yourself a favor--go with someone else. read more

We had Precision Heating replace our home's furnace yesterday. Due to the design of the home, it was an EXTREMELY difficult job, but Victor and Tim did excellent work. The arrived on time, and completed the job by their estimated time. They made sure they kept us in the loop with everything critical that they were doing and they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards. They also put down heavy duty tarps between the house entrance and the job location so that they did not track in any dirt as they went back and forth to their truck as needed. When they finished the job, they made sure we understood what was still to come, such as follow up calls from the company and possible calls or visits from inspectors. They also made sure that records of their work were available for inspectors to review. On top of all this, Precision gave us a bid which was fair and affordable for us. We spent almost $9k on a Rheem HVAC system less than 3 years ago. The initial install was fine, but less than a year in, one of the hoses stopped working making the entire system unusable (first repair) and just now the entire MOTHERBOARD apparently went caput (the system is not even 3 years old!!). The very nice tech tried to blame non-existent humidity (I'm from the South, I know humidity ) for this costly equipment failure. AND, here's the kicker -- although the part was covered under the manufacturer's warranty, they charged us $140 for the "diagnostic visit" (which lasted approximately 15-20 minutes) and over $300 (!) for the labor to repair (maaaaaaybe 20 minutes). So, almost $450 for less than one hour of work (notably, the second repair) for a lemon of a system that they recommended, installed, and guaranteed. As another customer noted, it feels a lot like "double dipping" to not apply the diagnostic fee towards the cost of the repair. Obviously, if one chooses not to move forward with the repair, then it makes fiscal sense for the company to charge the diagnostic fee. Otherwise, it's just nickel and dimeing. I, too, was swayed by all the stellar reviews, good reader. Caveat emptor. Knowing what I now know, I wish we had gone with someone else (most other places roll the diagnostic fee into the repair cost - a question I did not know to ask because it seems obvious that this would be the case), but we are locked in by the 10-year parts warranty, so too late for us, but not for you! Fingers crossed that this system doesn't have any more issues for awhile. read more

I hired Precision Air to come out and inspect the mini-split in my unit because having it on was causing burning sinus headaches. I was able to schedule a service call for a few days later and they gave me a quote for cleaning. I scheduled the cleaning for a few days after that and Daniel came out and performed it. Daniel is very professional and accommodating and gave me a heads up both times before he used the spray to clean the mini-split so I could adjust my air purifier accordingly. The air coming through the unit is clean and the unit itself is spotless! No more mildew smell and I'm no longer getting an immediate sinus headache when the unit is on. While I ultimately went with a different vendor (because of a very in a good way influential HOA), I wanted to thank Precision Air for their speed in coming to make a quote, punctual arrival, and thorough research in finding an equivalent water heater for a complex, direct-vent install at a condo known to have very strict guidelines. In addition, Precision Air was willing to compete with other vendors on price and clearly perform commercial and residential installations. I was searching for a new company to install a furnace/AC as well as maintain those systems every Spring. I had received prior quotes from reputable companies, but I genuinely thought that the service, professionalism and quality from Precision Air exceeded competitors by a landslide. They will be my go-to for future maintenance appointments. I first had a maintenance check on my old 18-year-old Carrier (I already knew it was ending end-of-life prior to the technician dropping in). He gave honest insight into what work would be needed and estimates for maintaining this model. A separate technician dropped in to give a replacement furnace/AC/installation quote. Both gentlemen were super-professional and knowledgeable about the products. All the costs were listed and there was no ambiguity. The quotes were competitive with others and the suggested brands/parts were reputable. I decided to stick with a Carrier Gas Furnace/AC because my previous model had been so good and reliable. I may consider a heat pump when this one reaches end-of-life, but I suspect it won't be for another approximately 18-20 years. Yurii and Viktor installed my new furnace/AC and the work was beautiful -- all the cables are clean, they worked tirelessly through the day to ensure it was well-installed, and the garage was really clean afterward too! The technology is a little different from my prior model in that it does incorporate water into the furnace, which was new to me. I appreciated the technicians' explanation of fail safes. The corresponding new smart ecobee thermometer is simple and sleek. There were periodic quiet gurgling sounds that I was unused to, so I reached out about a week after installation just to make sure all was good. They were confident everything was in good shape, and still took the initiative to suggest having a follow-up technician, Daniel, drop in. He took a thorough look, explained how the new carrier is different from the last model. where the sounds occur, why, and how it ties into the efficiency. Everything is looking great. This is the type of service that allows for piece-of-mind and confidence in the products and people. I honestly love this furnace and suspect it will last another 20-ish years. As it is Spring, I haven't really used the AC yet, but it's also a Carrier so I feel pretty secure in terms of the brand reputation. I will post if it is otherwise in the warmer summer. The whole process went very smoothly, from getting someone (Serge) to come out to the house and give us a bid, which he did quickly and efficiently, to the office staff quickly getting answers to some of my questions in a timely manner. I had another company come out and tell me that a "band-aid" fix for my AC unit would be $2,000, but since it's about 18 years old, and toward the end of its life, they recommended I get a whole new AC unit: $7,500. Jason took a look at my AC unit and quickly deduced it was the thing-a-ma-jig. (Technical name, of course.) The entire call and quick fix was just over $350! No waiting. No muss. No fuss! Jason was great. He even hosed off my filter thingy (another technical name) for me as a courtesy. I am so impressed with Precision Air. If you need service, get them to look at your problem! Precision Air sent Marques to my home to fix my 20 year outdoor central a/c unit. He did an awesome job! He also answered all of my questions during the appointment since I like to know what's happening. I was worried I'd need to buy a new unit but Marques showed me what the problem was (broken wires and a new part) and now it's running great again and is effectively cooling my home. He also did a furnace check-up to make sure everything is working well as we move into the fall. Jade was also great to work with; she helped to get my appointment set up and got me in sooner than another appt I previously booked with another company. Marques sent me a comprehensive report about the services he performed after the appt. 5 stars all the way. Update: Anthony came out to do a quote for the inevitable replacement of my 20-year-old central a/c unit which was repaired (see above) and is working great again! I was very pleased with the bid and will definitely go through Precision Air when the time comes to replace the entire unit because I believe that their pricing is very competitive and they are trustworthy and just an all-around great staff. During Anthony's assessment at my home, I told him that I'd like the insulation replaced which connects the pipe from the unit to my home. I received a bid (job will be done later this week) just for the insulation and felt that it is a very fair price. I'm having that job done to protect the pipe from the elements. I will update once the job is completed later this week. UPDATE 8/6/21: Daniel came out and re-insulated the outdoor piping that connects my central a/c unit to our home. Jason actually was able to come early and did a thorough job of checking out our 23-year-old furnace. Sam was polite and after quickly checking out the furnace, decided it probably wasn't the furnace. He suspected that the thermostat malfunctioned and appeared to be working at that time. Working with Precision was truly a great experience from start to finish. Although I'd previously used a different contractor for my furnace, he'd been dragging his feet getting back to me about scheduling and installation options for a new AC unit. Out of patience, I contacted a couple of other firms for a quote. Precision was awesome. They got me on their schedule immediately and Serge came out to give a look at our space. He was candid about what I'd need and what they could do for us. Communication from the office was fantastic, with a confirmation ahead of time and a heads up when Serge was on the way. Serge got me a quote within the half hour with the best price by at least a thousand dollars, and on a great high efficiency unit. I asked him when we could book the job and he said, "next week." A week later, I'm in a home with a functional AC thanks to the excellent work of Sam and Viktor. They arrived when they said they would, were respectful and communicative, and even fixed a couple things about my system that were minor but outside the scope of the job. Sam took the time to walk me through the function of the unit before he left for the day. My 9 year old said he was super nice, and I agree! From an inquiry on a Monday to a bid on a Thursday and the full install on the following Wednesday, I couldn't be more pleased. This beats the heck out of the runaround I was given from another provider. I highly recommend this whole firm for everything HVAC.
