Unprofessional. Below the standards. My previous family dentist retired so I decided to try a new dentist this year. This office was referred to me by a friend so I went for a cleaning and checkup. The cleaning and check-up appt went ok. Dr. Jo recommended to re-do some fillings and they scheduled me for the following week. On the day of my fillings, I was on the chair when the dentist arrived. She asked me to open my mount so she can start working on. I said, before you start working on me, can you confirm the work to make sure, we are all on the same page? Her answer: "Didn't I tell you that last week". Then she gave me a mirror and showed me the teeth she was planning to work on. I sensed a bad attitude, but I thought maybe is just a matter to get used to her personality. The dentist continued to work on the fillings and then at the end, she checked my bite and I told her that it was too high, so she adjusted. Then she asked me again for the second time how was the bite and I told her the same thing: it was still high and it felt different. After that, she put her tools down and said: "I am really frustrated right now" I asked, why and she said "I feel like I am not communicating with you, to me, your bite looks right". After this, I asked her to stop, I didn't want her to continue working on me if she was stressed out and frustrated. I suggested I go home and wait for the medicine to wear off and will call the next day if I still needed an adjustment. I called the following day, letting them know my bite was off and I wasn't able to eat and the front desk said they did not have any appointments until 1 week after. I tried pressing for a sooner appt but they said they could not get me in sooner. I kept pressing and later they called me back stating the dentist can come on Sunday morning to fix my bite. I spent 3 full days living on liquids because my bite was off. I had to reach out and found a different dentist to make a series of adjustments on the mistakes Dentist Eun Jin Jo made. Holy Moly... What a nightmare! I went to this place because my insurance covered it, and after reviewing the Yelps, other than the phone issue, seemed a reasonable choice. The first cleaning was fine, but then I went back to have a filling on a front tooth fixed. When the dentist (only one in the office) was done, it didn't feel or look right...I told her about it, and she became extremely defensive, told me in a very irritated voice it was " the best she could do" after trying twice, and if i didn't like it, I should go back to my old dentist. When I got upset, and asked her why she was getting upset and treating me this way, when this was only my second time to see her, she just pushed away and left the area. I asked the assistant if she always treated her patients this way, and he just shrugged and said "Sorry." Holy Crud! Really? Does she not realize that I'm the patient/client/ customer? Does she not realize she's in the SERVICE BUSINESS? Yes, she's a doctor, but there are 200 others within a stone's throw... I absolutely DO NOT recommend this woman. She has no "bedside manner" and certainly does not appreciate her patients or their patronage. Even if it costs more, I'll be headed back to my old dentist. read more

I waited one year to give this review because I think that you have to have a few things done with your dentist before you review. I didn't get to choose Tri-Valley Dental for myself (our benefits point us to which dentist we can use) but I am glad that this was the case- I would have gladly chosen Tri-Valley Dental as my home office. I have had a few negative experiences before with other local dentists who I think are scam artists (Fillings not sitting right, feeling pushed to always get an x-ray, being told to come in for more services so they can charge my insurance-etc...) This has NEVER been the case with Dr. Jo at Tri-Valley. Tri-Valley is a clean office, in an easy to get to spot...no frills just good dentistry. What I love about this office is Ariel (office manager) he is super kind and always remembers me even though it has been six months...he squeezes me in for late evening appointments and makes the process painless... Dr. Jo is great, she is friendly and quick (and always tells me that I am doing a great job with my teeth!) I don't know about you but I think that a little positive reinforcement now and again is good. I also like that Dr. Jo always performs the cleaning herself- I mean when you go to a dentist don't you want to SEE the dentist and not just the dental hygienist? I am usually in and out for my cleaning within a half an hour so I can get out and worry about other things....isnt that the way its supposed to be? read more

My 94 year old mother needed a dentist for a great deal of dental repair work. During Covid my mom's teeth started breaking off. Once she was vaccinated the first thing on my list was to get her to a dentist. I decided to take her to Dr Estavillo. My mom's (and my) experience was wonderful. Dr Estavillo took a personal interest in her case and kept me in the loop with every step. On her after hours she called me regarding my mom's progress. She made a logical plan and she stuck to it. Everything went so smoothly and my mom looks beautiful again. Mom is so pleased that she can smile without feeling embarrassed. I feel blessed that we found Dr Estavillo. read more

This place is poorly run. The first time I went there, I sat and waited for 15-20 minutes before I was told that the Dr. Jo, the only dentist in the office, was out because of an emergency at her kids school. So I was rescheduled. An inconvenience but understandable. Couple weeks later, I came back and they told me they didn't have an appointment for me! So they left me waiting the first time and the second time they lost my appointment altogether. I never even got to see the dentist but needless to say, I am finding another dentist. read more

Called, nobody picked up, so I left a message. Called again on a different day, nobody picked up, so I left another message. Called once again on another day, nobody picked up and left a third message. I then called Safeguard Dental Insurance to see if this practice is still there, and she said yes. She put me on hold and tried also to get a hold of them, and nobody picked up. Disgraceful. My family have been patients here for a while now. Today I attempted to make an appointment and ask about availability, I called 12 times in a row, each call was left to ring forever. No one answers, no recording comes up. Nothing. For a business to be so uncaring about customers to not even answer their own phones is just down right wrong. I waited almost a year to leave this review. I waited to see if Dr. Jo would follow up and correct my 2 crowns which clearly needed to be remade. Several months of living the crowns too high I asked her to adjust them again. I was in severe pain and after drilling she left holes in the new crowns. After a follow up to the endodontist, I learned the roots were touching again only a couple months after the root canal. She said it could be caused by the high crown placement. Called DrJo's office and left several messages and my calls were never returned. I had to file a complaint. She refused to redo the crowns and argued they fit when they clearly did not. I live in pain daily and can only eat in my left side. I will follow up and give the results of filing the complaint with the insurance company so I can get the crowns and root canals redone. Thousands of $$$$ gone only to be in pain! read more

Dr Jo, If you read this review, please heed the comments. Your front office/receptionist, a male voice, is terrible with patients. He appears to not know what he is doing. No help at all. I called to make an unscheduled appointment. On my last visit a few months ago, I told you of a swelling on my gums, but at the time of the office visit, it had receded. You said it might be a minor infection and to come to the office when it reoccurs. I tried to get an appointment but your receptionist would not agree to schedule the appointment until later in the week. I explained that the swelling may recede again before I could have you look at it. He did not have an opening until the end of the week, and would not let me speak with you, or have you call me. I know Dr. Jo for few years. She is respectful to the clients, and always smile. If she doesn't know something she says simply "I don't know. I will ask, and get back to you" . This is the type of behavior that I think every doctors should follow instead of doing their own things that most of the time is not right for the patient . In this way I feel she is doing the right things for me all the time. That's how I trust my doctor. She is not hard headed, and always open minded and try to work with patient and get the best solution. There was a situation that she had to call the Lab doctor, and asked his opinion on Sunday. I had signed up through my dental insurance to go to this dental office quite a while ago and finally decided to make an appointment. Prior to doing so though I looked at the yelp reviews and was a little bit nervous but thought I should give it a shot-it's been my experience in some cases that people only do reviews on yelp when they have a really bad experience so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Although I didn't experience what some of the other reviewers did in terms of the phone constantly ringing and not getting calls back, I did experience less than satisfactory customer service. First, after I had already indiciated that I had never been there but was signed up to go there, the man who answered the phone asked me again if I had ever been there. Then he proceeded to tell me that they didn't have any appointments available until the end of January...which is one month. That is just ridiculous. I was still going to schedule my appointment despite the first issue. When I asked what weekend appointments they had available he said they weren't open on the weekends. That also made me mad because one of the reasons I signed up for this office is because what I saw when I was deciding on an office to go to indicated that they were open Saturdays. And STILL I was going to schedule my appointment during the week. But while I was mid sentence saying that I chose that office because they were open on the weekends, before I had a chance to say I'd take the first appointment available, the man said I can call my insurance and find a new office to go to. So I did just that. Not only was it extremely rude, it was terrible customer service and certainly not a good way to keep clients. After checking with my insurance to make sure the office is approved, I called to make an appointment. No one picked up. I kept trying until someone finally answered. The man who answered had no clue how to check my insurance and refused to make an appointment until he was sure I had insurance. I told him there are 5 of us who would become patients and he still insisted somehow he had to find out if my insurance was "good". He was confused. I told him if it was going to be too difficult, I could find somewhere else to go. He said "OK" and hung up!!!! What dental office would not even try to get 5 new patients? We have been long term patients of Dr. Jo, and she was always friendly with the family. As of Dec of 2016 we finally became fed up with this office and switched our primary dentist to a different one. This office has always had a habit of last minute canceling of appointments. Last incident was when I got a call an hour before my sons appointment. Pretty frustrating, but that's nothing new sadly. The last straw was when my 2 oldest sons were brought in to have their 6 month check up. One had some cavities that needed to be filled, so we made the appointment. It was over my son's winter break so on the day the appointment was scheduled we drove from Livermore & I set up babysitting arrangements for my other 2 boys. We get to the office at 8:45am (appointment was scheduled for 9am) and we find a locked office. I figured maybe the staff was running late, so we waited. 9:00 came and went, then 9:30, and 9:45....I tried calling the office and the recording picked up each time. I tried calling the emergency number on the recording, and that went straight to voicemail. Well I was pretty upset, so we finally left the parking lot and went home. I'm STILL waiting on a call about that appointment, no call to reschedule, no call of apology or at least an explanation of what happened that day. We decided to leave Tri-Valley Dental because the lack of customer service is absurd. read more

Your average dental office? Not quite. Located in Pleasanton they make a dental appointment something to look forward to. I'm kidding right? Not this journalist. Most typical reception areas usually have magazines or a television to pass the time. On the adjoining reception area they have a massage chair which will put you at ease. My next checkup is in July. Dr Jo is very good, however, the office won't answer the phone, and won't return phone call messages, Left 5 voice mails over the course of 2.5 months trying to schedule an appointment on their answering machine which were all left during Normal Business hours. Dr. Jo is wonderful! Very thorough, professional, and a warm presence. I'm very pleased with her services as well as the rest of the staff. They always fit me in if needed, call me back every time, and check my insurance costs. Although going the dentist is very expensive, it's worth it to me to have a good caring staff and dentist. Dr. Jo even gave me her cell phone number just in case I needed her after hours or on the weekend due to a root canal I had done with a specialist. I came to Dr. Jo for a second opinion after another dentist told me I needed TEN fillings. Besides the long wait time for an appointment, I was completely pleased with my entire experience at Tri Valley Dental. Dr. Jo and her office staff were all very pleasant and efficient. And guess what? Dr. Jo said I only needed ONE filling and she even cleaned a stained tooth for me just because I asked. I would recommend her to anyone, and she will be my dentist as long as I live in the area. Just be sure to schedule appointments a month in advance, and you'll be fine. read more

I have been trying to get an appointment for this clinic for the past 7 months! I made three seperate appointments and the dentist continually called to cancell the appointments. Finally, I gave them one last try and was told that since I was a new patient (despite the efforts I had tried to make to be seen) I would have to wait 35 days for my first appointment. The receptionist said that if I didn't like to wait, I could call my dentist insurance and request another provider. Clearly, very dissappointing customer service especially as a new comer. First of all, I had to sit in the exam room all by myself for 30 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment time before Dr. Jo came in to see me. No apology, no explanation, nothing. Then, she proceeded to tell me I "definitely" had a cavity and needed to fill it. Well, none of my previous dentists had ever told me anything even remotely similar to that, so I went to a different dentist for a second opinion. Never go here for a filling. I got one done by Dr. Jo and the pain never went away i could not chew on the tooth and it was still sensitive.When i called to complain about it i was told" don't worry the sensitivity will go away". Well it never did, so i got a second opinion. Come to find out she only did half the feeling and there was still cavity left in the tooth. I also got a cap done by her after a root canal and that is still sensitive also.
