There are athletes on higher-level teams (like J2 Crew, Covert, Swagg, and Pink) who lack basic tumbling skills or flexibility, yet they still get picked year after year. Meanwhile, kids who do have the skills are often overlooked. For example, there was a girl on J2 Crew who has been there for years and still doesn't have a back handspring. Yet, an athlete didn't get to fly because she was a priority. Weird. Cali is an amazing gym if you fit the "type" or look they're going for. But if you don't, skillset alone might not get you where you deserve to be. Just know--it's not always about talent. Sometimes, it's about the image they want to present. Your team will WIN but your child internally may not.

She started on a senior level 1 team as a flyer, which she loves. Let's just say she has the bug. She wanted to do Cali for a year to improve so she could tryout for HS Cheer, well guess what?!? You got it, she didn't tryout for HS as her main focus is to move up a level each year with Cali. This year she made a Jr. Level 2 team. She is one of the oldest, and is now a base. She is enjoying learning how to base, and her tumbling has improved in less than 2 years. This year will give her the opportunity to be a leader to the younger kids on the team. The staff is incredible!!! Calvin and Andrew were terrific coaches last year when she was on Deja Blue. They taught her to believe in herself. She gained confidence as well as wonderful friendships (so did this momma). The gym has taught her how to work hard, have goals and be disciplined. This also helped him became a strong player in the BUSC leagues the last 3 years. The success also helped his self confidence and leadership in school and other areas. I would recommend greatly to kids that like to learn soccer and/or Chinese Kungfu, as well as building self-confidence and overall physical health. The soccer coach used to play in Chinese national team which at that time was a top 3 team in the world narrowly lost to US woman's team in the Olympics final penalty shootout. Coach Ding is also a national champion in Kungfu tournament in China, which is super hard to achieve based on the massive population practicing Kungfu and the long history in China. Both of them are very good at teaching and very dedicated, they always demand the best from their students and have a uncanny eye to spot the mistakes and improvements needed. Not like other programs that focus most on playing, coach Chen has a systematic plan to improve overall level of your kids' soccer playing, so usually kids will show a leap of improvement after training with her for a period of time. No payment arrived the next day. we were following up based on his own explicit time commitments . He attempted to use the weekend + holiday as an excuse, but every timeline mentioned was one he himself proposed. The refund was delayed despite Zelle being processed nearly instantaneous; - After reviewing other comments, we discovered that other families also had to repeatedly follow up to receive refunds. Operational & Administrative Issues - The club functions as a one-man club with no dedicated administrative or billing support. We had to contact the coach directly about billing and refunds because no other point of contact existed. - The refund was only processed efficiently because we provided fully organized documentation (Excel summary, PDFs, screenshots, ~100 English words in total), and heavily rely on other coach to intervene. Tryout Issues - At the tryout, we waited at the scheduled time and place. Fortunately, a coach came over, asked about our purpose, and kindly helped us to contact the founder on our behalf. The founder told the coach he couldn't come, but he never informed us he wouldn't attend. - We later learned other families experienced the same lack of arrangements at tryouts -- this was not an isolated incident.
