Once again, Triangle Credit Union proves exactly why so many people in this area can't stand them. They are hands‑down the worst bank around. Between the terrible customer service, the glitchy app, and staff who act like helping you is an inconvenience, I'd give them negative stars if that were possible. I switched banks a while ago, but I was stuck keeping a credit card open -- one I was pressured into getting in the first place. Recently, while refinancing, some stock money was accidentally sent from Fidelity to Triangle instead of Navy Federal. Fine, mistakes happen. The real nightmare was trying to get the money out. I had to make an appointment with their Manchester office because they couldn't handle it over the phone. I go in, and the woman helping me tells me there's a fee -- and if she takes it from my savings, it'll overdraft. I asked if I could just pay the fee using my other bank. She flat-out says no. She was impatient, dismissive, and acted like I was bothering her. Then she says she'll "push it through" and leave my account negative. At that point I just wanted to get out of there, so I agreed. Of course, the next day I get a call saying she couldn't push it through and I'd have to come back and put money in. So apparently I could have just gone to the ATM, grabbed cash from my other bank, and deposited it -- but she didn't bother to mention that. Instead, I had to send my partner to the bank to take out cash and deposit it into my Triangle account. Completely unnecessary chaos. All of this was happening while I was already stressed about closing on the refinance, and Triangle just added more wasted time, more wasted money, and more frustration. They never call you back when there's an issue, but they'll absolutely call you if you're late on a payment. And their app barely works, so if you're late because the app fails, that's somehow still on you. They'll even start harassing you if you're 20 days late on a credit card payment. I'm working hard to transfer the remaining credit I have with them and cut ties with Triangle for good. They absolutely suck, and I can't wait to be done with them. read more

They have been a horror show since I first financed a car loan. Impossible to speak to a person who speaks clearly and can be understood. Ask to speak to someone regarding getting my car title back now that loan is paid off. Impossible. From the beginning they messed up my title with the registry, now I want to be sure I receive it and can take care of having the lien removed. I have no confidence in them doing the job correctly.Spent a long time on hold, to then be disconnected. I did end up getting a direct number to the loan department and spoke to Toni who was the first person who made an effort to help me. read more

The great new system that closed TCU for four days became the New Coke of banking. My account is locked and I found the customer dis-service centre is in TN. They can't help you the just send messages to NH. i called the Main Branch and asked to speak to someone in leadership. The receptionist told me "They can't help you" and dumped back to Seventh Level of Banking Hell in the customer dis-service queue. I wll be closing my account. Last year I had another company's payroll checks cashed on my account. I was told it was a "scanning error". Pathetic that this is the place that handles your money. read more

Customer service Brocken 2 day delay mentioned online just to speak to a rep. Time to slowly break away and find a cu with better service and less glitches. I have been a member at TCU for over 20 years and they have gone down hill so much. They do not care about their members anymore, and treat them so poorly. They took a check of almost $250 2xs out of my account and when I called they told me that they could not release the funds or fix that mistake until Monday. I asked for a manager, expedited it to the on-call Emergency staff which did not answer nor did they call me until Monday. When they did call they let me know that the error was on their end and they would be refunding the money and any fees that occurred in my account due to that error. Which great thanks but I had to go all weekend with out funds due to their error. Staff on the weekend should've been able to fix this or the Emergency on call staff should actually pick up the phone. This is so sad how much they have declined, I will be leaving and moving to a better credit union Asap. read more

I've had a car loan with this credit union for 3 years, and once used them to help with converting paper US Treasury savings bonds for my sons that were purchased when they were babies, and got no interest on them whatsoever. I also drove up to the main branch hoping to put my car payment check into a mailbox and circled the building without being able to locate a depository. They do not provide good customer service over the phone, and seem to get defensive over basic questions. read more

Their online banking doesn't update in real time. So you can think you have money when in reality you don't and then you risk going negative and them charging you for everything purchased. I got charged $300!!!!!!!! In overdraft fees and they said how they helped me with $60 last month as a curtesy..... seriously?! Mind you on the same day my husband got paid. Maybe wait til the end of the day to give people a chance to cover the money before you take half their paycheck! Literally HATE this bank. Looking for a new one and will be leaving asap. Despite moving my car loan away from this "bank" I keep receiving statements saying there is a small balance in an account I was not even aware I have (since I only had a car loan). So, head in to close out the account and get the money. Told No, you can't close an account without an appointment. It's MY money. I was incredibly upset and they said I could write a letter or come back with an appointment. I have never heard of a bank that I cannot walk in and close my account when I want to do so. I am not talking about millions of dollars here, just forty something bucks leftover from a car loan payoff. This is the most INCONVENIENT bank in the entire universe. They make it almost impossible to make payments on a loan and when you finally rid yourself of that nightmare, ridiculous to close an account you never even wanted in the first place. Avoid like the plaque. They have the worst customer service ever. I had a small balance with them left after a car loan. They have been sending my statements and any other correspondence to the wrong address. I have filled out their change of address form and mailed it to them, have called them multiple times. The mail still goes to the wrong address. They sent a letter saying they were going to close my account and send them money to the state of NH unclaimed property. The letter was dated 10/4 with a response deadline of 10/25. I finally received the letter after the deadline. I call them, after 45 minute hold time, they tell me that since the balance was so small, they essentially charged me a fee that took the balance for themselves. They said there is nothing on file that I ever tried to contact them about updating my address. They are the worst. read more

They are ridiculous. They make everything 10 times difficult to open or close anything. I'm trying to close an account that is created because I took a loan that has been paid off. Representative cannot do anything on the phone they're not allowed to apparently. make you verify everything even though they know it's you because you already verified five things. But then they want you to verify again via letter and then via email, and then via letter again- make sure you scan it no picture. They made an error on your email, and though you verified social, address. Phone number, your mothers religion, and your fathers favorite food when he's 3. An email error on them,holds more weight. But you can write a letter to close account- But we have to verify your signature three times. Like come on. If you want to make it difficult for yourself, to even set up a auto pay, phone customer service, but get no help because you have to do all this stupid stuff, via emails and letters. Go to triangle. Asked to borrow $1,000. I have a 650 FICO. Earn $80,000/year. Have paid 2 loans off with them- better than agreed, all on time payments. Been with them for 15 years. I needed just another $1,000 for deposit and first month rent on a place. ( AND- I had documentation that I was receiving $138,000 check in 7 days). They said no. Astonishing. I drove over an hour to pay $15,xxx to pay my car off (the exact amount I owed), was then told I will receive my title within 10 business days since I was out of state and that everything was all set. Then they take $550 out of my checking account the first of the month and tell me I have to wait nearly another month to receive my title because the full amount wasn't paid off in person. Bank stuck in the past!!! I've been a member for years. Had great experiences with branches. Online banking - Terrible! Phone customer service - TERRIBLE!!! Try closing your accounts because you're now out of state... be ready to sign your first born away because a phone call and verification of identity isn't enough! RIDICULOUS! I did what they asked. Wife was in hospital and wrote the wrong amount in a check and they sent it to collections, credit score went from 800+ to 650 when trying to refinance my house - interest rate went up 50 basis points on my 30 year mortgage due to the delay before it got corrected. I was denied a loan for debt consolidation because like a fool I got roped into the great lie that was PayPal Credit. I was trying to re-establish my credit. I let these fools at Triangle credit union run my credit. I figured if I was going to apply for a debt loan I was going to apply for a little extra to pay off a low limit credit card or two which ACTUALLY was helping to raise my credit score. By the way my credit score is actually getting quite healthy again. Triangle snubbed me and told me over the phone my income doesn't meet their income requirements and said I was denied that I would be getting a letter in the mail. I applied for the loan only because it was a low interest loan and I could pay it back over time for a total of three years which was more than manageable. I imagine a loan for only $3600 that they are requiring someone with an average income of thirty grand or more. My income is only around twenty five. I'd suggest you do business with someone else if they are that much of a stickler to require to require high end incomes for such a small loan. read more

Nowhere on the website does it say that appointments are required. I went in to open a business checking account and was turned away because I didn't have one. There is no easy way to contact anyone via the website to make an appointment, and I'm not giving my personal information out when I'm not even sure I want an account. As a combat veteran I feel this bank has disregarded me. For months I've been able to log on to the mobile app to see my accounts and then today I get locked out of the account and they telling me it's been canceled for months. Yet I've been able to log in everyday on the mobile app to see what I need to see. I was blown off when I asked for help I was blown off when I needed the account to be unlocked. Horrible communication. Get calls saying my loan payment is pat due, a week before it is automatically withdrawn by triangle credit union. Then they say it's ok. Later find out that a past due amount from 3 years ago has been the issue, not the current payment. Couldn't get straight answers multiple calls. read more

Absolute worst customer service. I had a loan through them and during the first few months I repeatedly had to call them to remove a late payment off my credit report since the payment wasn't late and it was their mistake. Then every month for the next 3 months it would reappear on my credit and would have to go through the whole process again to get it removed, very frustrating. Now I paid off my loan, which by the way I had to do in person due to a non existent electronic payment system I asked when I could expect the title when and was told by the bank employee taking my payment that I would have it in 7 to 10 days. Well after 10 days and a bunch of go nowhere phone calls the title won't even be released another 4 days even though the payment cleared a week ago. Each phone call I've made and waited over an hour to talk with someone and once close to 24hrs after leaving a message!! Although never rude, the tone of the employees i've dealt with just don't seem to care, I felt like I was bothering them and use the same excuse with both of my issues I've had, "its bank policy"... The worst, take you business elsewhere. Executive Management, you should listen to some of the those recorded phone calls, it would be pretty eye opening if this review and many others like it are not enough for you to understand here's a serious problem! read more

I just got my first loan through them, and setting up the bill payment is absolutely atrocious. There's no way to just sign in and pay - you have to link your external accounts, and that's a whole ordeal in and of itself. I tried to call them, and when they called me back it was marked as Spam. I returned the call 1 MINUTE LATER (after checking my voicemail to see what it was) and it put me back at the end of the line!!!! Not to mention that I'm at work, so I'm not able to drop everything on a dime to answer their call (especially when it displays as Spam!!) What the heck??? read more

I was a member for over 20 years and never had a single blemish on my accounts. I moved out of state and transferred my accounts and in the interim of closing the triangle account there was an issue. They charged me three separate fees all for the same one transaction, only refunded one of the fees as a "courtesy" even though it all stemmed from the same single issue. It is a shame that after almost 20 years they left such a bad taste. The representative tried to be helpful and was nice but all she could say was to blame "management" and couldn't do anything but send them messages which they would never follow up on. There are so many other banks with good customer service I would definitely avoid this one. They are not what they once were. read more

I have an auto loan here and they do not offer online pay or payment over the phone. When I called to find out why my payments weren't processed I was told they were understaffed and the "mail was slow" so the only way to satisfy the account was to drive to Nashua New Hampshire from Cape Cod Ma to make a payment in person. The only way to talk to a person is to leave your number and wait for a call back from member services. read more

If only there was an option for 0 stars. If you are looking to get a title after paying off a car loan, go on vacation for two weeks and you won't have to wait too long after you get back. My bank paid off a loan with Triangle in full and it's been two weeks now and they claim my bank (USAA which is the best bank that I have ever worked with), did not send a "bank" check, lol. Customer service when trying to deal with your card being suspended is horrible. On the one hand I am happy to see they take security seriously however my card has been suspended three times now and it takes hours to get it turned back on. on this transaction i was asked to spell my name, provide the last four digits of social and last four of my card 3 times in a row, Shouldn't you write it down? Also in addition to to this, twice they have ended the call blaming me for not telling them that i am "traveling". Boston is an hour from my house and where my wife works its not "travel" They don't have the phone compacity for every member to call them every time you drive your spouse to work. Finally please Triangle note that when we call to unlock our debit card please please don't transfer me to member services, to sit for an hour just for me to tell them they sent me to you but i need to go to Fraud prevention....
