I used to bring my car here regularly, but had a pretty negative experience the last time. The shield under my car was not properly screwed back on after my oil change and it fell off while I was driving home. It got lodged under my car, making it mangled and not able to be reattached. They won't mount a tire for any customer on a rim that you buy online or elsewhere. I was told some weird tale of liability, but I don't believe them. He didn't even ask what type of tire I brought. A mechanic shop that won't fix my tire, I guess they expect me to mount it myself? Tires are pirelli. I've tried going to Triangle 4 times to get a state inspection. Every single time there was some excuse about why they couldn't do it then. The latest was today and the excuse was they don't have a technician to do them. If they don't have a technician, take down the damn sign saying they're a state inspection station and stop wasting people's time. read more

Been robbing people since 1978. With 10 years experience doing so. My husband got an oil change and they had charged him $39.00 for labor. He was under the impression that the price included parts and oil. Wrong. They snuck in those charges after the fact and charged him $65.00 for an oil change on a 2006 Honda. When I went to ask them about the outrageous price, they brushed me off and said well that's what we charge in this area. What the hell does that mean? So because they have a family owned shop in Chelmsford that makes it ok to rob people blind? I don't give a shit how much experience you claim to have. *STAY AWAY* This is one of the most dishonest auto place I have ever came across. In October 2017 while driving my kids to the park my SUV dead in the middle of the road the closest place to me was Triangle service center the reviews looked pretty good so I called and asked if I could have my car towed there. The man I spoke to said sure they would do diagnostics test and the price would be waved if you used them. My husband called and said the cost would be 2400 for a new alternator which I thought was Expensive but didn't know much about. I went to work and was talking to a co worker who is also a mechanic and in conversation mentioned the price and he was appalled and said he is ripping you off. So I called the GMC dealership and got a quote from them and the book hours plus 2 other surrounding auto places all a 1,000 dollars cheaper. I also got the cost of the alternators as well. After doing my research I called triangle service with all my research and numbers and told them I don't appreciate their dishonestly and that's a terrible way to run a company. His response to me was "I should have told him I was getting estimates other places!" Seriously I'm sorry I didn't realize you where going to rip me off. After tripping over his words trying to justify the cost lying about the book hours and diagnostic cost I also told him I wanted to move my car somewhere else which he said they are almost done even though he told me the day before that the part wouldn't have been in until that morning which it was 8am during this conversation. After this conversation he lowered the price to the GMC dealership price which was 1k cheaper than the original cost. NOW fast forward 20 months my husband is driving my kids to a birthday party and the car dies again. It's now in another shop getting a new alternator. I called triangle service first and asked if they could check and see if the part was under warranty and he said "no it's not it's only a 12 month warranty and nothing we can do maybe we can help you out with the service cost." As if I would EVER STEP foot in that place again. If your looking for a place that guarantees there work for two years look else where. Searched yelp for a place to get an oil change and inspection and couldn't deny trying Triangle Service Center for all the great things other yelpers were saying about it. And they weren't wrong! I walked in to see if they could squeeze me in. There was a line with one person behind the desk on the phone. He kept talking and talking and talking, to the point where I was almost feeling frustrated that he was making us wait so long. But then, I listened to the conversation. He was speaking with the customer on the phone about what was wrong with their vehicle, going over best and worst case scenarios, and working with them to choose the best plan for taking action. He was incredibly patient, taking time to really explain what was going on, not just throwing car jargon at them and rushing to serve the next person in line. Realizing this, I was happy to wait, because I knew that if I were having a problem with my vehicle I would need someone to take the time to really help me, not just find ways to make money off me. This is when I knew I had chosen the right place. Getting the oil change and inspection went incredibly smooth. Everyone was friendly and respectful. My bill was a little higher than I expected, but I trusted the work that they did on the vehicle. This wasn't enough to get me to write a review for them though. A week later, I heard water and a sand like noise sloshing around in my vehicle. WHAT?? I was going out of town that same day and frantically called 30 min before they closed not knowing what to do and even if the car was safe to drive. My man at the counter, said to bring it over, never promised me that they could fix the problem, since they were closing, but said he'd look at it to see if it was safe to drive. Quickly his technician took it for a spin, knew what was wrong and was able to fix it. They explained what had happened, even taking me out to the vehicle to show me. People can say what they want about price and how much Triangle charges, but I doubt they have any idea what it takes to run a business. Try running a mechanic service and charge $50 bucks an hour. You'd be out of business in 3 months! So shut-up! I'd rather pay alittle bit more to know my car is in good hands and getting the best service period! The guys at Triangle are great! The service I receive here is outstanding. My car is treated like its one of their own. Anything from an inspection, oil change, to my heater box on my jeep; they take care of it all. Triangle service center is an extremely well oiled machine. Family owned business that knows cars. There family has been in town fixing cars as long as I have been alive . You will receive upfront and honest quotes for the repair at hand as well as recommendations for what you may need in future, with no intimidation. They have also made it very easy for you to keep track of your maintenance, (which in my case is very helpful with three cars ) with online records of your service with them. As a woman, it's easy to feel taken advantage of when dealing with car repairs. The guys at Triangle always explain the options and do so in a way that is not condescending or know-it-all. I trust their advice and their prices. I've had some more complicated work done (front and rear brakes) and even simple things like windshield wiper replacement. I brought my car for service and paid over the phone to pick it up after hours. There was a slight miscommunication and my car was locked with no keys available. Although this was an inconvenience, Triangle was very apologetic, gave me a discount on the service, and even offered to pay the all of the cab fare to pick up the car (and I live in South Boston). Today, for the first time ever, I ran out of gas. I made the mistake of believing the electronic "miles to empty" dashboard display. Traffic made me late dropping off kids to camp, and I was intending to hit the closest gas station afterwards, but never made it. I had the good fortune of conking out in front of the Triangle Service Center. I entered the clean station, and was greeted by the employees. The employees looked for some extra gas, but they had none. One of the employees, (Peter, I think) hopped into his personal vehicle, went to the gas station, returned, and poured the gas into my empty tank. I offered money, but he refused it. This was one of those times when a bad situation was turned into a delightful surprise by a wonderful man who helped out. read more

I'm a mechanically savvy person: I have rebuilt engines, replace my own brakes, etc.... I took my cars into Triangle Service Center for their inspection and they were super helpful when one of them turned out to have illegal tint. When I got myself into trouble with a VERY stuck lug nut (rounded head, stuck enough to break a stack of Craftsman tools) while trying to swap my wheels, they rescued me by quickly getting my car in and fixed quickly. It was a fair price, but I got a call later that day from Peter (who's great) who said they had over-charged me, so it ended up being even cheaper. It would have been a deal at twice the price. Have been a customer at Triangle for nearly 25 years. I have NEVER had a problem with the service, price, respect or appreciation. Triangle has always treated my entire family in a top notch way! From basic oil changes to the most complex diagnostics (at one point we had an old van) the crew has always taken the time to figure things out. They seem to understand and respect that a persons car is often a necessity for getting to work, taking care of family etc and Triangle fits you in when you are in a pinch and they are honest and fair with their price points. Yes, they do good work and put on a happy face and very nice - however they RIP you off when it comes to final cost. They are what you call FULL SERVICE with HIGH price. Charging $100 per hour labor. That is CRAZY. If I pay $100 labor rate - I'd rather go to DEALER and I am not sure the dealer is that expensive They Also uplift the replaced parts by almost 50%. So if they paid $80 for a part they charge you $120.00. Ask yourself why are they doing this ? Also if the standard car repair book says 4 hours to do the job and it only takes them say 1.5 hours to complete the job .. you still pay for the 4 hours @ $100.00/per hour per the book. Crazy!!! FOR EVERY BILL: 1. They charge a fee called shop fee's (ie They charge YOU to use their tools to fix your car) .. Really!!!!! 2. They charge *another* fee for disposal/waste/Env. fee - Again really!!! The 2 fee's come out to approx $10 per visit .. more padding the bill. I would not recommend them unless you want good service and a happy face and pay $100 per hour and get charged for inflated parts. ps. Also note: They give you a estimate and when you finally get the bill its *always* inflated approx $10-15 more .. its never less. I have heard this from numerous people. I give them only 1 STAR for good work and nice smile. I however do NOT RECOMMEND. If you don't believe me .. call them and get a quote and ask for the breakdown. Then call a few shops for a comparison They are what you call GREEDY people!!! read more

I was new in Chelmsford and went here for an inspection of a newly purchased car. They put on some new plates free of charge and took off a bunch of old window stickers (not just the old inspection sticker) using goo-be-gone to make sure all was clean and residue-free (a nice attention to detail that I never experienced at mechanic shop prior). Quotes for work are fair and reasonable and work is always finished in a timely and professional manner. Another time I pulled in with a botched headlamp bulb replacement and Peter came out with a smile, stopped what he was working on and spent 15 minutes getting the thing back in properly. I've stopped by a couple times to adjust the tire pressure free of charge and all of the guys are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to talk at length about any car issues you're having. Another time I was selling my car and the plate screws were rusted SOLID so me and the buyer pulled in to Triangle and once again Peter came out of the garage, stopping whatever he's working on, breaks off the rusted screws and clips holding the plate in and puts on new ones. He refused payment. Why? Besides being a great mechanic, I think he's just a really nice guy. read more

The advice is thoughtful and reflects to my needs, top notch work to the point of above and beyond, and the bill lower than even my 'best case" scenario. I'm new to the area and when I needed my car to be serviced, I asked some friends to recommend a place that I could trust and wouldn't break the bank. They unanimously recommended Triangle. I stopped by and they gave me an estimate in 5 minutes and a day later the parts arrived, they called me and serviced the car right away. This is the best auto service that I have ever dealt with. They are competent, pleasant and price competitive. I have a very old SAAB that they have kept running for me. They have patiently diagnosed some elusive problems with this car and fixed them at very reasonable prices. I recently bought two high end tires for my Porsche from them and found their price to be competitive with the discount tires stores. I asked them about using some used parts for my SAAB one time and they advised that, in their opinion, it would not be safe to use those parts, and they suggested another cost effective solution. Everyone at Triangle seems to take a lot of pride in doing a good job. I will not take my cars anywhere else. read more

Not sure about these folks. Had a minor problem corrected and was told that the car was not going to last. Well, the problem came back shortly after, but the car more than lasted and was sold to happy camper a year later. The new car I got was quoted $1700 to fix the exhaust system. They were nice enough to offer a couple of hundred dollars to purchase the car that has a KBB value of $7000. Took it down to Wholesale Exhaust in Lowell and they patched it up for $100. This family-owned place focuses on the customer - what a rare occurrence these days! I had been bringing my car to the dealership located in Haverhill for years but when I noticed something leaking from underneath my hubby told me to drive to Triangle to have them take a peek. He had been there for a state inspection and was impressed by their friendliness and service - he is not easily impressed. Peter put the car on the lift and checked it out. He then brought me back to show me exactly what the problem was .An axle seal was leaking. He wouldn't charge me for looking either! My car was due for its 100k service and he gave me a price for that and to repair the leak. Very fair. I made the appointment about a month later. My appointment was on a Wed. The Saturday before something starts oozing out from under the car - transmission fluid. I called and left a message - they are not open on Saturdays. On Monday morning at 7am I got a call back and they had me bring the car right in. They diagnosed the problem - rotted transmission cooling lines - ordered the part, did the 100k service and had the car back to me on Tuesday. They treat every customer with respect and are a great bunch of guys. Really old school. I will be back. If you live in the area and need a "regular" place to bring your vehicle give them a try. read more
