I was late on my inspection (due in April) and so he gave me an April sticker even though the inspection should be good for a year. My son was also late for his inspection but the place he went to 2 days ago gave him a July sticker because this is July! I will go there next time. Sad. Here is my original review: "I have used Cichy's twice before for routine work like changing trailer tires, and my MIL used them for a muffler replacement. Both times, during the COVID pandemic. The service and cost was HORRENDOUS. In fact, it took them a month and constant prodding to get the tires done. So when my MIL needed a new gas filter I was hesitant to use Cichy's but figured I'd give him one more shot. I called ahead for an estimate, gave the car make model and year and part needed and got an approximate cost of $45-$50. My MIL was there for two hours because they didn't have the part after saying they'd order it ahead. And they charged her $108 for a 15 minute filter change. " Not sure who quoted that original price but in the end the owner gave my MIL a free repair, which was not requested, but was much appreciated.

This is one of the few places that will honestly tell you that you don't need to fix something you think you needed instead of always trying to scare you into fixing things you don't actually need. At one time I brought my car in for ABS light and started by saying I might need to replace the ABS module. John didn't take advantage of this at all and completely fixed the issue by replacing two electrical cables. I only wish that they were located closer to me so that it's easier when I needed to come back a few times to debug problems. Nonetheless, I'd still spend the extra one hour round trip to drive here instead of going to the mechanics who are closer, including one that has a suspicious 5-star rating with 100+ reviews.

One of the flat fixes, a plug, only kind of took. The tire still has a slow(er) leak, but we are selling the car anyways AND getting a car in to them to work on is a hassle, so we're just topping the air off weekly, bi-weekly. Also the repair cost 2x what I paid last time I had plug done in Boston. Meh. We brought our other car in to have faulty valve stem replaced. Fine job done. Ni While the car was having that valve stem replaced, we asked them to inspect our flawless, unmodified 20k mileage sedan. They refused, saying that they'd need to fail it for tinted windows. The car was delivered to us FROM THE FACTORY with the tint and sold to us brand new from a dealer in Massachusetts. This makes the tint legal (and it is Mass legal tint). It has passed inspection in Mass 4 times. It was an necessary hassle to bring it elsewhere.

It feels like they are focused on finding small reasons to fail inspections and push minor repair fees. I will not be going back, and I'll be telling my family and friends to avoid this shop.
