I love the new location! I recently just moved back here to Austin and decided to see how Tribe Comics has been but was bummed to find out the old location was closed down. I wasn't aware that they had just moved across the street until I researched what happened. This location is way bigger than the old one. This was a good move for them, I live south and hate driving north to the other locations to get comics every week so it's a relief to have this place as an option from time to time. The staff here is super friendly and helpful, my only complaint is that they seem to always be eating Taco Bell the two times I've been here which makes me hungry and causes my stomach to roar like a mighty lion! Hehe jerks... No but seriously it's a nice location and they deserve it! I usually find gems here that I can't find other places so that's always a plus! read more

I have been really happy with the selection of graphic novels and single issues that they offer. I hadn't been reading any comics for a few years but this place has made it very easy to jump right back into it. The two guys who work in the store are always really friendly as well. read more

I took my 13 year old kid here and had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and patiently answered all of his endless questions. They also put up with his feeling awkward and not making eye contact and stammering a lot (poor kid!). They looked up a bunch of stuff on the computer in an effort to help him also. He ended up staying for about an hour playing a game with some other folks and everyone was very nice to him. I am not a gamer so I can't comment on what they have in stock and all that but as a parent I felt very comfortable with him being there. I even stepped next door to Torchy's tacos to grab us some food at one point. Very nice, family friendly place. read more

Love this place. I've been coming here since they opened (an event I eagerly anticipated) and their selection of games is awesome. I second all of the great feedback about customer service. Every time I go in, they're friendly and helpful. I really feel at home here and I'm grateful that I never feel rushed as I can sometimes agonize for 10 or 20 minutes over what to buy. I'm a newcomer to reading comics, as I spent about 20 years away from it. I went in when it wasn't very busy and the shop owner, whose name I did not get, was INCREDIBLY helpful with recommending me some books to start with to get me back into the comic book world. Not only that, he gave me $20 to $30 worth of comic books FOR FREE just to help me experience some of the new things comics have to offer. Best experience I could've asked for. I love this place so much! this store is a much needed addition to south austin. So far, they have had everything I have ever needed in stock. But, if they don't, and it is still in print, they will order it for you quickly. The owners and employees are all super friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of graphic novels. I called Eric, one of the owners, right at 5:02pm, 2 minutes after they closed on Sunday. I was totally unaware of their hours, and was just calling to see if they had a particular board game in stock. Instead of telling me, "We're open tomorrow," he said, "Come on down. I'll stay open for you, and we'll get this thing done." We proceeded to chew the fat about not only variations of the game I picked, but other various games, game stores, game nights, and game meetups around town. He could have hurried me out the door so he could go home, but instead, sincerely wanted to establish his prowess at customer service. Totally friendly, totally knowledgeable, and totally willing to go the extra mile for a customer. I'm really stoked that the south side has a great, if small, game shop. My plan is to continue to give them business, in the hopes that "small" is no longer a qualifier. read more

This place is fantastic. They are really knowledgeable about the games themselves, which is astounding, due to the sheer amount of games. Also, they keep a really large file of pulled comics for me - that I eventually pay for - but they never hassle me about it. I love shopping there. There are good comics and game stores in Austin, but Tribe Comics is my go-to place. It is the best comic shop in south Austin. All of the staff is friendly and always willing to help with your comic or gaming needs. These guys always have great recommendations all around, and there approach to customer service is too notch. And if they do not have something in stock, they work hard to get it for you. I discovered them through a friend, and I have switched my subscriptions to Tribe. One of the coolest things they do is (alongside your subscription comics) they put aside special editions or other comics in the story arc or comics that you may be interested in so that you won't miss out on a crossover story, but they never pressure you to buy them; it is only done as a courtesy, and I appreciate it. The customer service at Tribe is out of this world! I recently got back into reading comics and Eric was super friendly, very helpful setting me up with their subscription/pull list services, and he answered all my questions about some major stuff that happened in the DC & Marvel universes so that I wasn't completely in the dark reading new titles. He set me up with a Garth Ennis trade I never knew existed after I mentioned he was an author I followed back in the Preacher days and it did not dissappoint! If you are a Batman reader they have a whole section of essential Batman trades and they totally nailed it. It was maybe missing a Legends of the Dark Knight trade or two, otherwise it was perfect. For real, go here and ask questions, the staff will help you and not brush you off! Set up your subscription pull list and never worry when a hot book is sold out everywhere (like Batman #89), yours will be nice and neat waiting for you. read more

I came here to get the card game "Timeline". They were very helpful in me finding it and I could tell they were very enthusiastic about working there and helping you out. I had tried to find this game at Target with no luck. It's nice to find a specific game store that has board games and not just all role-playing and/or digital games. read more

It is a fun place to play games at along as Michael is not working. Michael is always walking around and distracting players by finding something they are either doing wrong or talking about something he doesn't agree with. Just play on the nights he is not working and you will have fun. read more

This store is great. The owners are super nice and always make you feel right at home. They're always willing to answer questions and never make you feel like you just asked something silly. The owners are also really knowledgeable and no matter what you get, they're willing and able to discuss it with you. I have my comic subscription service through them and it's amazing how simple it was to set up and get started. What impressed me the most about these guys was that within weeks of me starting to come into this store, they knew my name and would greet me as soon as I walked in the door. Having been to many comic book shops over the years, this has been the best one I have ever been to. Roy and Eric are not snooty owners who sit behind a counter and laugh at your selections. They really care about the customer service aspect in running a store. Every time I come in, they are warm and friendly and if I'm not really digging a book anymore, they are always happy to help find you something you like. I have been there a few times for manga and the selection is pretty great! There are mangas that aren't normally seen in comic book stores.

This is the greatest comic book store in ALL of Austin! They treat their subscribers like people not dollar signs! They actually read what they sell and will freely share their opinions of the books! As a young woman who enjoys the comics and the culture it provides, I can say proudly that Tribe never makes me feel out of place or uncomfortable. They have a plethora of products for you to pick from and when you run short of ideas they are quick with suggestions. They are well stocked and willing to order whatever they may not have. I have a box with them, an account if you will, that houses my weekly obsessions! It's nice knowing that I have them hidden away safe for my particular purchase and if I'm home, randomly perusing the net and stumble upon a title or action figure, what have you, that I must have, lest I perish, I can call them up or if I'm really lazy, shoot them a note on Facebook ( sadly, this does happen ) they respond back with great haste confirming my additional titles and or toys. These guys have a great sense of humor and keep me smiling! Something I greatly appreciate! I love, love, LOVE this place! If you don't already, you will. Believe bruv. i heard about these guys from the south austin game night group, which tribe sponsors. i went in to check on an expansion for a hard-to-find-stocked, but awesome, board game and they had it. i'm a board gamer (not a big fan of comic books) and i was quite impressed with the selection of board games, particularly for how comic book oriented the store is. they definitely know what is good and what sells. check them out. read more
