Tribute is one of those spots that feels thoughtful and intentional the second you walk in. The food was really good--clearly very homemade--and you can tell care goes into both the flavors and the menu. The options are a little limited, but in a good way: everything feels curated rather than overwhelming, with some unique combinations you don't see everywhere. The cocktails were especially fun--interesting, creative, and great-sounding even before the first sip. Huge shoutout to the staff too: super knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to talk through the menu or make recommendations, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Incredibly excited to have a legit cocktail place in Villa Park. Amazing location which used to be called Fuel and Crème. New ownership is keeping the ice cream (cinnamon gelato is fantastic) along with the Pineapple Dole Whip. Theme is North American Fusion so think Canadian, US, Mexican fusion. Menu include regional favorities across North America from Birria Poutine (amazing) to a White Fish Sandwich with Squid Ink and lime crema (come on now! It's fire!). This place is unique distinct and different and I love it. One of the owners has some legitimate cocktail chops (finalist in season one of Mixology on Netflix) and is bringing his background and passion to Villa Park! You can also try his cocktail bar in Itasca called No School Tomorrow which is similarly different, delicious, and unquestionably a great time especially if you lived life in the 90's. How freakin lucky are we to have a gem like this in Villa Park! My only hope is that we don't blow it. Like any new restaurant they are refining menu items and working out kinks. Food and drinks are on the pricier side (they have a solid kids hot dog and fries option for $5 for kids though) but what is the going rate for Squid Ink?! It is also unlike anything else you will find in Villa Park or Western Suburbs, or really anywhere so I would say absolutely worth it. Staff is also ridiculously friendly and excited about their product. While they have awesome specialty cocktails that you will not find anywhere else (pozole spices in a cocktail?!) they are also great making any classic cocktail you can come up with. My one feedback for now would be to up the dish-ware if going with higher price items vs going with paper products. This might just be they are testing things out. I'm also excited to see some brunch options or perhaps coffee and pastries in the future to get the biker/ boozy brunchy weekenders with kids crowd. read more

We are so excited to have such a unique and wonderful restaurant in Villa Park! The cocktails are incredible, such an upgrade to the VP bar scene. This is not the same menu as Fuel and Creme, and those menus were very good. The new owners really botched this menu. I could not get a lemonade or tea, only cans of pop or water. There are only about 6 items on the listed menu. The QR code on the truck does not work, so we sat down and got a menu. Service was wonderful! Seafood sandwich was so watery from the "seafood" not being drained and then there was the very light "sauce" that the plate was covered by the draining liquid with each bite of this tasteless soggy mess. The seasoning was non existent and this was definitely a potential sandwich that needed texture. The burger was cooked the the liking of the truck, because although the server was trying, we weren't asked how we wanted the burger cooked. That was served well. The toppings were not great, and the cheese that was not melted slid off the top with the over hard egg. We could not have a bite with bun, burger and toppings together, it was so messy we used knives and forks. The potato cheips looked home made and were stale. The summer salad was ridiculously bad. How do you screw that up? I dare you to order and find out. read more

So glad to see that a unique place like Tribute has opened in Villa Park. Although the Menu may be a little too unique, for me. Very limited and pricey. I mean, squid ink fish sandwich and poutine? Not a good family minded menu, most of the 6 items are spicy, except for the ice cream. Fancy Cocktails? not for me. Maybe a fancy flat bread selection and some soup or bisque for a quick bite or a stacked cheese burger and fries or a Wisconsin brat or triple decker BLT to add a little variety. Don't think I'll be coming back for that squid ink fish sandwich, but I would for a thick sliced apple wood smoked BLT. Really hope VP young people like this style of food and drink, not me. Staff was very attentive, and service was great. Mostly outside seating. Chairs rather uncomfortable. Hope they succeed because it's a great location, right off the Prairie Path. read more

Tribute is a Villa Park gem! We recently celebrated my birthday there and the atmosphere, service, food, and drinks were sublime!! The staff were so friendly and took the time to describe menu items while answering all of our questions. The fire tables and patio lighting, while being situated right along the Prairie path, create a delightful ambiance as well. Tribute is also family friendly, offering sidewalk chalk for kiddos, a kids' menu, and a gelato/sorbet truck. Nights with live music add a super bonus as well! Drinks: We tried the Juicy One and The World's Best Spicy Margarita. Both drinks were fine. The margarita was unique but I expected more (as in, a larger drink). This is served in a whiskey glass with a large ice cube, so it was basically only 3-5 sips - not what you expect for a margarita. While it's unique in how it's made, I would have felt better paying $15 for a cocktail of decent size. Others might disagree with that opinion, but we went elsewhere for our next round of drinks. Food: I appreciate the unique menu items but this menu does not fit the venue. It seemed like the chef was too impressive for the vibe and not in a good way. I ordered the Not A Dog and my friend ordered the Smash Burger. The Not A Dog was delicious; it was a chorizo sausage with herbs, wrapped in cheese with an avocado crema on top on a bun. It was served with a mole dipping broth that seemed unnecessary and was difficult to dip into. The issue with this menu item is that it's served on a tiny plate much too small for the food. It looked great but was not easy to eat on the tiny plate, especially in a venue where people are eating at fire tables. I also tried my friend's burger. We agreed that for an $18 burger it was bland. I believe this menu item was added based on soft opening feedback of other diners who wanted something standard on the menu, but it needs a special sauce or something. The burger patty was also too large for the plate it was served on, and because of this, the chips it came with were soggy with burger juices and fried egg. Like the Not a Dog, the plating looked great but was not well thought out. Service: Great! The staff were friendly and super-attentive, and prepared to talk through the food & drinks. Ambiance: We went on a Thursday night when there was a free concert in the park only one block away. You would think this place would be packed, but it was completely dead. I really wanted to like this place because I was sad to see it sit empty after Fuel & Crème closed. Will I be back? Probably because I live close, but it's not my pick. For great cocktails, go to The Honey Bee Tiki (at Standard Meadery) or Lilac League in Lombard. For food, there are plenty of better options in the area. read more
