Very solid restaurant/bar in downtown Lombard, IL. Food was really really good! Shrimp app was amazing and the shrimp were super fresh and tasty. I also had teriyaki salmon bowl and I was outstanding! Decor is kinda plane-Jane in my opinion. Could use a spruce up. Service was very good and nice but they seemed to rush us out when we didn't want desert. Not like there wasn't tables open. Still a half hour from close but they gave us our check. The food was good, if expensive. Well--overpriced, not just expensive. My favorite item was the Italian beef egg rolls, which we ordered to share. I've had this appetizer at a couple other restaurants around the area and these may be the best example of them. Even my one year old seemed to like these. They serve them with a little dish of jus, which I haven't seen at the other places I've had them, and it's a nice addition though it can be a bit messy. I had the chilaquiles, which I liked a lot. It was a good portion size as well, very filling. The pancake I ordered for the babe made her happy and especially the blueberries that adorned it. Where the place fell down was in the service. It was really bad. The place wasn't terribly busy but it took a while for our server to return to us and in between those times she was nowhere to be seen, so we couldnt' flag her down. My friend ordered coffee and takes it with cream and sugar, but the cream she was given was curdled and it took at least ten minutes for us to get that replaced. It just felt like a lot of waiting and forgetting to bring things we'd asked for, which was frustrating but at least I had good company. The place exudes an upscale air which I suppose it should for the prices it charges. They have a really nice outdoor patio space, though it was a little warm and humid so we chose to sit inside. They do take reservations, which is what I was looking for since I didn't want to have to wait too long with the kiddo with us, but it wouldn't have been a problem; they weren't packed with people during the couple hours we were there. Stopped by Rebel for a weekday dinner and was seated without a wait. There's plenty of free street parking available in front of the restaurant. The inside is spacious and has lot of seating available. I was surprised by their fusion menu. They also have happy hour which has a few appetizers and cocktails at a reduced price. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered: - bang bang cauliflower (5/5) well fried cauliflower with two great dipping sauces - Italian beef egg rolls (5/5) what a unique interesting take on Italian beef and egg rolls. They give a side of au jus, which levels up the flavors tenfold! highly recommend - lobster risotto (1/5) the sauce was delicious with a generous amount of lobster but the gnocchi was completely uncooked. The manager explained that this was a new menu item and that they have not perfected it yet. - Korean fried chicken (2/5) the chicken was well fried but served with what seemed like sweet and sour sauce. Overall the dish was far from Korean fried chicken but wasn't bad. - cookie and ice cream (2/5) we had to send back the first cookie they brought about because it was underbaked, the second one they brought out was half baked and half underbaked Overall service was great, but seems like they really need to work on quality check before the food exits the kitchen. Cute spot with friendly staff. On the night of my visits they had $8 margaritas. I tried a blood orange and it was delicious. We split an order of meatballs and polenta and it was tasty. It is served with polenta and garlic bread. For my entree I had the Greek chicken. Portion size was plentiful so I had enough for a second meal to go. Overall - our experience was good - not great. However - we would come again. I say that b/c while there were some misses - there were some positives. The menu is quite large and numerous options to choose from. I also liked the ambience inside. They have a huge outdoor patio, but it was too hot to eat out there our night. Drink-wise - we got the happy hour margarita, spicy watermelon margarita, and a Mai Tai. None were great - and there was barely any spiciness - nor more importantly watermelon flavor - on my drink. I think I would opt for wine next time. For food - we started with the bang bang cauliflower - which was delicious and a very large portion. WHICH we found out later was b/c the waitress didn't denote it was the Happy Hour portion. We didn't realize we had to denote that when we ordered it. As I looked at my bill later on - she charged us the full amount - not HH. She fixed the bill - but she hinted that we got a full portion. Which is a miss on their part. Why do I have to say it was from the HH menu? And the answer is b/c you get a smaller portion. So - truly not a HH "sale" price - you're just getting less. All that to say - this appetizer was really good. For entrees - we got the Lobster Roll special and the Chicken Giardiniera Sandwich. We didn't love our dishes - nothing wrong with them, just not great. As I said - we would go back - but definitely try different things. read more

Superb place! Went here for my Mom's birthday dinner. The portion sizes here are huge. Yet also elegant. The dining area is spacious and has great vibes. One side is great for dining traditionally and the other side is near the bar with family style seating too. My Mom loves watching college basketball, so she really enjoyed having those games on at the bar in the background, while we were dining. For the food, I got the Rebel burger. Really filling. Tasty as it has some nice zing to it with the crispy crunchy hamburger pickles and two beef patties. The fries were good. The bacon and Mac side is really great. Great flavor. Also the carne asada fries appetizer is great to share. Overall service awesome. Our waitress was great and sang happy birthday for my Mom. The blackberry cheesecake was really tasty and great. As you can see, I have gone to this restaurant numerous times. It's one of my favorite restaurants. Friday night, I brought my nephew here since he's in town. Four of us were dining last night. We began with cocktails for three of us. I had the bees knees and my husband had an old-fashioned. Rebel makes great cocktails. However, their choice of mocktails is very limited. Rebel can make some spritzes into mocktails; however, a lot of restaurants have gone to a more generous non-alcoholic cocktail menu. My nephew who doesn't drink, just stuck with water since the options weren't appealing. There are great gin, vodka and tequila nonalcoholic alternatives to make drinks. I hope that will change here. My nephew chose the starters for the four of us to share, the baked burrata and the meatball & whipped ricotta appetizers. Both were cheesy good (needed more toast, tho), but the meatballs were my fave, soft and flavorful almost as good as my dad's. For our entries, my son chose the crispy Korean chicken. He loved it and switched to the roasted brussels sprouts instead of the jasmine rice. Hubby had the steak frites. Unfortunately, it was way too salty when I tasted it. My husband agreed and said it was quite grizzly as well. That was a miss for sure. Me and my nephew had the grouper piccata. I have been to Rebel Kitchen numerous times and have never swayed from the grouper piccata. It's an amazing dish full of flavor and the grouper is moist and flaky over a creamy risotto. It really is perfection. Our server (Natalia?) provided great surface and was on top of everything. The food and cocktails are really good at Rebel Kitchen, which is why I was completely surprised that the steak frites was so grizzly and over salted. That won't stop me from coming back time and time again, though. I love this restaurant. read more

Tonight however ambiance was adversely impacted by a loud and shrill live music performer that made conversation near impossible and made your ears hurt outright a couple of times. Visited RK&B during the Winter to check out their igloos. When I made my reservation online, no igloos were available, even about a week out. I called a day before our reservation and they happened to have an igloo open up. When I arrived on the day of my reservation, I opted to dine inside, as the kind hostess let me know that the igloos were very cold (I'm guessing they don't have the appropriate heating to combat Illinois cold) We sat at the bar and got quick service. They had a special menu with limited time offerings: holiday cocktails and appetizers. I tried one of their margaritas with strawberry flavor added. For food, I enjoyed the lobster and fries. $38 for a lobster tail and large portion of fries. There was upbeat music playing and a small dinner party on a Friday evening. We just got back from lunch there and my husband is still raving about the chicken giardinara sandwich... it was really good! It's not really hot as giardinara can be. I have never had anything like it but it was amazing. We got the bacon mac and cheese too. Again.. amazing! . It was really a good amount of food. A few of us went here last night and it's cute! We sat outside on the patio. Didn't really have to make a reservation because it wasn't that packed but probably because it was a weekday. The shrimp pesto pasta is flavorful and delicious as well as their salads, enough to have leftovers! The strawberry froze was also good and filling. There is plenty of street parking and a public parking lot a couple blocks away (before 6pm can only park for 2 hours but after it doesn't matter). Glad to see Lombard adding new places! read more

We were visiting Lombard and found this good restaurant in downtown. Highly recommend the Bang Bang Cauliflower as an appetizer. Very tasty dusted and flash fried cauliflower served with a delicious aioli. The Shrimp Pappardelle Diavolo came with plenty of shrimp and a nicely spiced sauce with just the right amount of heat. The meatballs and polenta were ok, but the polenta while very good, covered up the meatballs taste. Very good service and modern welcoming atmosphere. Very much worth a try. read more

Very happy I came out to Rebel Kitchen + Bar for Happy Hour! Their restaurant has a large outdoor covered patio out front. The inside is divided into two sections: bar and main dining. Both have fun interior elements! Happy Hour runs Tues-Fri from 4-6pm but not valid for patio seating. My friend and I sat in the Bar's cozy banquet seating area. We started with the Blood Orange and Prickly Pear Margaritas. The Blood Orange was not my favorite flavor but Prickly Pear was very good! I also later got a glass of their rosé which was a good pour. For food, we shared a number of items: Spinach Artichoke Dip, Fried Pickles, Meatballs + Polenta, Filet Slider. The Spinach Artichoke dip came with half tortilla chips and half pita. The dip is feta based which I was not expecting and some tortilla chips were heavily salted. The Fried Pickles and house-made ranch were delicious! Perfect crunch with a bit of cheese and herbs on top. My friend had the filet slider which also came with fries. Our waitress asked the preferred temperature which was nice and she thought it was flavorful and juicy. The Meatball + Polenta app was my favorite as the meatballs were large, polenta paired nice, and liked the added flavor of arugula with. My friend also took (2) pasta dishes to go for meals later. They said their options of Cacio Y Pepe and Shrimp Pappardelle Pesto were good but not your straight forward pasta; each had a distinct house twist to both. Overall, I loved my experience at Rebel. Staff were very attentive and friendly. They gave us space as needed and food/drinks were turned around quickly. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Seating is literally on top of each other where you could join in on the conversation w the people next to you. Hostess sat us a tiny table two seater where you couldn't even fit your plates on it then people after us got seated at bigger tables that were also parties of 2. Then came the food, absolutely disgusting- bland and no flavor! Also overpriced! Manager and owner was mad that we called to complain and actually swore at us using the f word! Unreal and appalling! Instead of being concerned about how our experience sucked he chose to swore and said they have been open four and a half years - ok so?! Appetizers included excellent calamari, cauliflower and Italian beef egg rolls. Entrees were Parmesan crusted grouper, Rebel Rigatoni with chicken and crumbled Italian sausage, Rebel burger and Rebel sliders. I went with a group of friends for Sunday brunch. We booked reservations here because the menu looked good and they had bottomless mimosas for $20. Upon arrival, the patio and inside looked amazing. The hostess sat us on the patio and it was a nice day so our hopes were high. I think the only damper on our morning was the server's attitude. She was clearly not happy (with us? with her job? with another table? it is unclear). Only a couple of us had bottomless mimosas and I would say for $20 they were kept filled but there wasn't a lot of sparkling wine in them. The food was good, however my friend wasn't happy with how something was cooked and the server explained she would take it back and have it cooked again but it would come out the same. On top of that, a pregnant friend asked if they could do a mocktail for her but she was told no and that there wasn't a bartender to ask. I would think it would be easy to make a mocktail - just make the drink without the alcohol in it... I'm not sure we will come again but it's probably a good option for those who live in the area. A cute little spot in downtown Lombard! The hostess and server were really friendly which was refreshing since it was busy for a Friday night. I did make reservations online and we were seated right as we got there. The patio tables had a large covering and individual table umbrellas to block the sun which was a nice touch. We ordered a Smokey margarita and a strawberry sangria for drinks which were delicious! The sangria was so refreshing and you get a decent pour. The margarita was also very good and flavorful. The drinks were $12 and $14 which we felt were appropriate for the quantity and quality. We ordered the Rebel Rigatoni for our meal and the food was delicious, but a bit overpriced in our opinion. You get a decent sized portion, but for $26 a plate, we felt it was a bit pricey for the type of food and type of establishment. We will definitely go back to try their appetizers as those looked more reasonably priced and try new drinks. Went here for the igloo experience. It was indeed a cold night, but we had 2 heaters in our igloo so it was pretty comfortable. The only downside was there was a lot of condensation when we first sat down , so there was a lot of dripping going on but it calmed down as the night went on. Our waitress was nice and attentive given that she had to come outside to check on us and unzip and re-zip the tent every time she came to us. For drinks I had spiked hot chocolate. I could taste a hint of the baileys peppermint in the drink and it was warm so it kept me warmer. For an appetizer we had the fried pickles. I like them because it wasn't just battered pickles there was a creamy sauce inside that i tasted with every bite. The dipping sauce was good too. For an entree i ordered the Chicken Giardineria. The 2 chicken breast were nice size. It also had sausage crumbles which were nice in size which i was a bit surprised about. The dish was very good and flavorful.The giardineria was not overwhelming spicy so it easy to eat. The price points were pretty reasonable given the portion sizes. Wish they could address 2 things... baffles need to be added to reduce noise because even though only a few tables were occupied we could not hear each other talk. Steak sliders were decent, and chicken giardiniera sandwich was fantastic! Ranch water cocktail was well-made, and smoky margarita top notch. Maryluna, our server, was kind and efficient. Why 2 stars? Prices were high, food was hit or miss, and none of the staff or indoor patrons wore masks. When we asked the owner about no masks, he said that they have chosen the route to take not to wear or require masks. I am a HUGE supporter of local businesses, but think health, safety, and following the law are important. I was not alone; two outdoor tables joined us in our concerns with owner. Went here with some friends for dinner on a Friday night. Place is really cool looking inside. Place was packed and loud but we were seated right away. Service was very good. We had the artichoke dip, short rib, and the taco dishes. Everything was small and just ok as far as flavor. We left still hungry. Just very overpriced. Blackberry bramble drink was also just ok, but I think the beer menu was good. The menu could use some tweaking. I just didn't see a whole lot that set them apart from any other similar restaurant. If they are going to charge that much, the portions need to be bigger, or the food needs to be outstanding. I will try them again because I want to support our local businesses and I will update my review. I still suggest you try it out! read more
