My wife and I visit Chicago every year to see our grandchildren. While here we spotted this place called Driftwood Grille. The place is a hidden jem and is great if you enjoy sports or simply crowds. We were greeted by a server named Jake. Jake welcomed my wife and I as he went on to seat us. We both ordered the Driftwood burger and fries along with two diet cokes. The burgers were cooked medium along with fries being crispy and salted perfectly. The waiter Jake, was doing more then one job. He was polite and courteous with exceptional customer service skills. We also had the cheese steak egg rolls which were exceptional. A establishment is only as good as its staff and service. Jake, made our experience memorable and pleasant. Driftwood Grille is right up my alley. The whole place is decorated like some kind of hunting lodge. The Badger Burger ($18) is awesome and totally slayed my hunger. I was originally looking for this spot because I was interesting in finding a brunch with a slightly different menu, since I have lots of friends who enjoy brunch and it can feel a bit monotonous at times. This spot certainly provides that, as familiar items have a special twist or elevated ingredients to provide a more unique experience. Fortunately for me, my visit met all my expectations and more. This spot is fairly large, with plenty of parking -- something that can be an issue with busier brunch spots, particularly with all the cross traffic. On this visit on a Sunday, we were seated fairly quickly and the spacing between the tables was fairly good. We weren't rushed to order and got water refills at a fairly good pace. While not the cheapest, the menu is pretty in line with the more premium brunch options nearby -- with better than average preparations to match the pricing. After trying the delicious food here like the super rich amaretto buttercream stuffed croissants, comforting orange marmalade buttermilk pancakes, and well balanced chicken and waffles -- I'd actually happily pay these prices to be guaranteed a quality dish. Though the portion sizes weren't exactly the largest, it made it for it in the quality of the food -- a lot of it being in the execution of great textures and the complexity of the flavor combinations. If the rest of the menu reflects the same level of quality, I'm excited to come back another day to try their entrees - though the unique dessert options that include incredible sounding options like bananas foster bread pudding, smores skillet, and a mix of dark chocolate mousse and ganache are another reason to make a special trip. My husband and I met some friends at Driftwood Grille. It looks like a wilderness cabin on the inside and outside. Our server was nice and friendly when explaining our appetizer and drink options. My husband and I ordered off of the weekend brunch menu. I ordered the pancakes, while my husband ordered the Nutella croissants. When our order came, our sever noticed that one of my pancakes was burnt before I could notice a problem. Not only did they replace my pancakes but they also comped the pancakes. Let me start by saying that the building that houses this grill is divided into 2 separate businesses. Driftwood is located at the southern most part of the building. There is only 1 door to enter. Hostess stand is immediately when you enter. There is a bar area to the right and the dining area is to the left. There are at least 4 TVs in the dining area turned to different sporting events. They were offering October specials which sounded very good. Our food came out of the kitchen quickly. First time I ever had a turkey BLT on a pretzel bun ~ but it worked. Driftwood Grille's current hours are the following Sunday - Thursday: 11:00 A.M - 10:00 P.M Friday-Saturday: 11:00 A.M - 12:00 A.M Happy Hour is from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M Monday - Friday! Brunch: Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 A.M until 2:00 P.M! This restaurant is absolutely stunning! There is a fireplace with several dining areas within the restaurant. Plenty of TVs are situated throughout the restaurant on the walls! The menu consists of a wide range of salads, burgers, sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, salmon, chicken, steak, and so much more! I wasn't too hungry Tuesday evening, and ended up just ordering their Yardbird. The Yardbird is a crispy fried chicken breast, cheese, slaw, pickles, on a brioche bun. I ended up opting to leave off the slaw on the sandwich! The fried chicken sandwich also had French Fries on the side. Several members from the group ordered a variety of appetizers and drinks prior to the entrees. The entrees arrived to our table about an hour and a half later after placing the order. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious! The sandwich was relatively large! The breading was perfectly crispy and wasn't burnt. The cheese was a great addition to the sandwich and the pickles were super yummy! I would order the Yardbird again! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to order the dessert - S'mores Skillet. The restaurant has a cozy log cabin ambiance with plenty of tv screens and open spacious concept. The customer service was extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient. Food is actually good here but I've never had good service outside of the bar area. Bartender Mike is the best , servers here are the absolute worst especially if you are sitting outside. I've eaten here about a dozen times now and literally there's been an issue(s) at least 10 of those times. We don't like sitting in the bar much because of those stupid slot machines so every time we sit at a table like nobody knows who's taking us. No one tries to figure it out either. Beautiful decor and a cool looking space. We were seated on the restaurant side- the bar side looks a little more casual. It is a loud space though, but not much can be done about that. The restaurant was busy, however our server really hustled and promptly took care of us. She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food took longer than expected due to a very large private party- our server did let us know when she took our order. Great beer selection, portions were huge, and food was delicious. So.. we drive past this place all the time. Never think about it. Never went in. Went out with some friends on a Saturday night. Everywhere else was packed but this place was fairly empty which at first worried me. I wondered why, was the food not good? Is the service bad? We had high expectations for Driftwood, they obviously came up short. Although, the service was very good. There were 11 of us so we had quite a mix of food with mixed reviews. The skillets, burgers were good. The French toast was okay. The rest was an epic failure. The biscuits and gravy came out cold, even the eggs were cold. We sent them back and it was obvious that they reheated them because the eggs were rubbery and the gray was very salty. The buffalo chicken wasn't even edible. We also had some bloody Marie's. They were very weak. At least the ice tea was good. Not sure I would give this place a second chance. read more

Quite the surprise stopping in here. Had never heard of it but in the area and looking for someplace to stop for lunch we stumbled upon it. The decor is really the highlight! Just pulling in to the parking lot you get the feeling you are in the north woods of Wisconsin. The decor carries over inside with signs and decor to match! The food was outstanding. The Badger burger was amazing and already looking forward to getting it again next time we are in the area. My only complaint was the beer selection seemed pretty weak but depending on what you like to drink they do have several options. The bartender that we had on Saturday early evening made the visit here worth coming here. He was very polite, friendly and professional. The food was typical bar food and wish they had vegan options, but the service will have us come back again. I wish I got his name but it was on January 17th we were there. Bartender with dark hair, one of the best. The other people behind the bar also very good. You can see they all worked together as a team, and very efficient, even when they got busy. After the awful experience we had at Emilio's Tapas in Hillside, coming here to Driftwood was a welcome relief and salvaged the day with one of my best friends. read more

On Friday 2/20/26 our party of 8 arrived and were seated at our table for 8- so far so good. We had a 9th person show up, so I took one of the two dozen chairs from nearby vacant tables for her. Well a little while later the manager, Robert, comes by and admonishes one of our party for taking a chair from a vacant table. I come to find he did the same a little earlier with another member of our party (both Hispanic, coincidence?) I went with another from our party to speak with him at the hostess area, where he was less than receptive to our concerns. I explained that there were plenty of unused chairs, and I didn't understand why he was making it such a big deal. He put his hand up and said I'm not talking to you. So before walking away I told him there's a right way to talk to patrons and a wrong way. He chose the wrong way. He rolled his eyes. Afterward multiple staff members came by our table to apologize for his behavior.
