Our experience at Sides was a good one this last spring! My husband nearly totaled his SUV, and…read morethankfully he wasn't seriously injured! Geico came to our home to do the estimate and I got on the phone to find a body shop that could complete the repairs in a reasonable amount of time. Many folks are repairing their vehicles instead of buying new ones when they are wrecked, and all the body shops are backed up. Seriously backed up! Sides made the most sense to us and within a couple of weeks we had a drop off appointment. The staff are friendly, cordial, honest and thorough. We knew going in there was a shortage of parts for Mazda [our SUV] and I think Subaru. Plus, Geico had to go to the body shop to perform at least 2 supplemental estimates updating the original estimate. This is because additional damage is often found during repairs, for example, the front seat needed replacing. Time was not a critical issue for us, as we bought a replacement vehicle in the interim. Sides took about 8-10 weeks to complete the job, which they told us up front. They quickly updated me at every follow up phone call and they offer a text messaging status service which is not really accurate or dependable. Do call them, they will talk to you and help you on the phone. We were pleased with all the work including the paint job, when we picked the car up and I've enjoyed my "new" [new to me, it is a 2016 model] car ever since. I highly recommend Sides! You can double check me, but I'm pretty sure there are 2 Sides shops in Athens.

I made a call to get it put back on my tire and he said to come get it. Once getting to there it wasn't the one that was on my car. Dude was SUPER unprofessional. When I followed him to search I told him I didn't know what the attitude as about. He acted as if I was trying to get something other than what I ALREADY HAD. Yelling and screaming...so after NOT finding it I called back to tell him how UNPROFESSIONAL his attitude was. He hung up in my face instead of apologizing. I get it...we're ALL a bit stressed out because of the economy. Neither of us knows how things will end but if I'm CHOOSING to give YOUR company business in such a time as this, I'd hope being courteous and professional is the least of my worries. When we got there, we found that the guy we spoke with is the owner and sells his stock out of his garage. Which is great, no brick and mortar pricing! Unfortunately, we also found out that he doesn't update the "sales" on the website so the bikes we went to look at weren't actually on sale. The owner is very knowledgeable about his product but is a bit on the narcissistic side. That's fine, I'm not married to him, we're just there to buy a bike. He told us if we ever had any questions, we could shoot him a message and he'd get back to us promptly. Since we are new to the e-bike community we had a question a day after we got home with the bikes of why something wasn't working as it should be. But instead of helping us figure out what the problem was and how to fix it he insisted that "we" must have "touched something" and changed a setting (which we didn't, we just pushed the display button to turn it on) but he never told us how to fix the issue so we ended up googling it instead and got it figured out on our own. In my opinion, if you say you'll be there for your customers if they have questions, then do that. Once the sale was over and he had his money, the relationship was pretty much over. Don't get me wrong, we like the bikes and I guess that's what really matters. However, if we ever need service or have any questions down the road, we're a little concerned about what kind of response well get.

If I wanted a "attitude", I would find a shop that carries high end Italian gear like Pinarello, Campy, etc. Two times and I'm out. The first experience I had with this employee was just after I arrived in Alabama, driving here from California and needing a competent wheel guy to true up a wheel that lost is true either through rack vibration or heavy winds or both. I didn't bring my truing stand with me for this trip. The bike was on a rack with the wheel exposed off the side of the van. This employee doubted the cause of the wheel going out of true from what I described. LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE! The second experience was just last week when I needed a presta adapter. As mentioned, I use local shops as much as possible for small parts. The adapter was 2x that price on Amazon. I asked this same employee whether they "keystoned" the markup or if was tariffs or something like that. I got attitude again and a smarta** response. He said he didn't know what keystone pricing (GOOGLE IT) is and if I can educate him, in a condescending manner. I did purchase the adapter. I ride a KHS Team 29'r and do most of my own work on it. I usually use local shops to pick up high margin accessories and have always had a great relationship with the shops I've used. Mostly because of their commitment to quality customer service. The independent bike shop is a tough business. Believe me, I know by experience. If this shop can afford to be represented by this kind of employee, more power to you and good luck in this market.
