Alayna not only apologized for the experience I had, but had already implemented changes to the online booking system to make booking with a female masseuse easier. She graciously offered me a complimentary massage to make up for my experience and asked for any additional feedback I could provide in order to see the ways she could make changes to improve future bookings for myself and others. While my initial review of Tricoci was based an unfortunate experience, the follow up to that review is what I would expect from a high end salon that deeply cares about its customers. For the besttttt silkyiest blowout of your life see Raven!! She is soo sweet & absolutely kills my blowout! I have super long thick hair & she usually gets me in and out in under an hour!! I've also started seeing Cici for my blowouts and she kills it also!! If you want big bouncy blowouts Cici is your girl!! Only thing I think still missing from this beautiful salon is coffee. And not the carafe kind that's been sitting. This is a luxurious salon, why not offer a higher end coffee experience? read more

Update : I will give 5 stars for customer service . The salon got in contact with me and offered it to fix my hair and set me up with one of their experience stylist ( Amarilis) who did a great job trying to fix and blending the hair. It is much better now and I feel comfortable wearing my hair down again (We will still need few more sessions to continue shaping the style). But overall very please with their customer care and with Amarilis . I plan to go back to her. ******** Previous review Beware: I purchased one of their promotion packages on Instagram for a haircut and blow dry. I didn't know I will be assigned an inexperienced stylist who did a terrible job. I wanted to cry when I saw the final product. I asked for the manager who was very kind and professional and who tried to help by bringing a more experienced stylist to give advice to mine stylist to make it better, but I am still left with a really bad haircut that I can't style and honestly the worse I ever had. It looks like I'm wearing a helmet and there is not shape framing my face. I'm so disappointed with the stylist and upset when I see myself in the mirror that I regret I chose to go there. I'm sure they have good stylists that do a better job but I was unlucky . Now I need to find a place with a stylist that can fix it. Eybrow color and hair: I visited both location and the Arlington Heights location and the Deerfield location. I am not happy with either locations. When I visited the Arlington Heights location, I made an appointment for my eyebrows and the color was not how I wanted it to be I told the lady it wasn't dark and the color lasted two days yesterday I went to the Deerfield location to do my highlights and it was not a good experience either I first did my highlights and then I was rushed to do my eyebrows mind you my hair was still damp and I didn't even get a chance to see how my highlights turned out once I went to do my eyebrow color. I specifically told the lady I want a dark brown. The color on my eyebrows turned out so light it was not even noticeable then I told her to do it again because I wanted dark brown. I also told her I wanted to do my eyelash color and for some reason she didn't seem like she knew how to do that so I told her I don't want to do my eye lash tint. She did my eyebrow color the second time and it still didn't turn out the way I wanted it to turn out. She told me when I go outside. It will look dark. Well it is not dark and it is not the way. I wanted it to be. Also, i specifically told the lady I have too much brassiness and I wanted the yellow and brassiness out of my hair. My hair is still yellow and brassy and my highlights don't even show that I did on my hair. I am very unhappy and I spent $180. I will not go to any more Mario Tricoci hair salons. The eye brow techs need more training. read more

Raven was just amazing! She shared her knowledge with me and made me feel so comfortable discussing the condition of my hair. She gave me great advice on what to do next. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is natural and hesitant about getting a silk press--it had been many, many years since I had one done. I went and got my hair colored and a cut. I have very thick and long hair. The stylist Rico who cut my hair "debulked" my hair and half of my hair is gone. It is going to take months to get my hair back to the thickness it was before. The texture of my hair is completely changed. I will never come back to this salon. read more

I came in for clip-in extension installation and curl styling and saw Raven, who was great. She was kind, attentive, and really listened to exactly what I wanted. The entire process was efficient, and my curls held up. The only downside was the scheduling process. I needed to change my appointment within 24 hours, but the call center closes at 5 PM, even though the salon itself was still open. Tricoci uses a central call center instead of having receptionists at each location, which made things complicated. When I first booked, the receptionist was confused and slow, and later, when I needed to make a quick change, I had to go to the salon in person to sort it out. read more

I really don't want to leave a negative review, as I like this salon and the location works well for me. Unfortunately, my experience before Christmas wasn't great. My manicure caused damage to my nails and resulted in small wounds, and there was no acknowledgment or apology, which was upsetting. The attitude of the technician made the situation harder. That said, I was happy with my pedicure. I believe the way clients are treated has a strong impact on how the overall service is experienced. read more

Amarilis canceled my haircut less than one hour before it. I would have been charged 50% for cancelling the day of, yet this place offers nothing when they cancel. It's extremely unprofessional and rude. Do not book her since she can't manage her time well and never come here, they will expect you to pay and then not play by their own rules. My entire experience at Tricoci was beyond disappointing. To start, I was greeted by unfriendly (borderline rude) front desk staff. After waiting, I met my stylist and requested a very straightforward cut for my fine hair: a trim, long layers throughout, and subtle face-framing layers. My stylist was almost silent throughout this consultation, so there wasn't really an opportunity to confirm the desired results. THE HAIR WASH, which is typically my absolute favorite part of a cut, is where things started to take a nosedive. The water was ICE COLD and my stylist made 0 effort to make the experience more comfortable. While she did apologize, there was no attempt to move to a different bowl. She only rinsed me once, so we skipped either shampoo or condition - not sure which. I still had high hopes that the cut would turn out nicely, but was once again disappointed. I left with ~6 inches cut off (not a trim), chunky layers, and blunt front pieces attempting pass as face framing layers. I typically let my hair air dry, but it looks so bad I've had to start blow drying after every wash just okay about my hair. I know salon experiences can differ dramatically by person/day, but I would strongly discourage anyone from booking services here. I certainly won't be back. read more

Love my stylist and have been going to this location for about 5 years. I just noticed that prices were raised for a basic cut and style by about 20 percent since I was last there in late January, just a few weeks ago.. So...the last cut was $95, the next one would be $110. It appears the price point for most if not all stylists were raised to that level...some even more. I understand as well that they laid off shampoo staff members and some front end folks. With the poor job market for white-collar professionals and the lowering or non-movement of professional salaries, I just can't justify the cost. Much cheaper in suburban 'nice' shops...and way less if you drive outside of the Chicagoland area where cuts and styles are still $38-50. I know folks might think the quality is less elsewhere but I just can't afford $110 plus the tip my gal deserves. read more

I have visited Tricoci twice. My first experience was great--I got a blowout and was very pleased. Because of that, I trusted them with my natural 4B hair for a rod set appointment scheduled at 7 PM, the day before my birthday, July 1st. Unfortunately, this appointment did not go well. After washing my hair and setting the perm rods, I was placed under the dryer. About every 20 minutes, the stylist would check to see if my hair was dry. Around 9 PM, the stylist informed me that the salon was closing and that I would need to rebook to Redo my service. While the stylist apologized, it did not feel sincere. Instead, she seemed more concerned about feeling personally attacked and mentioned that if a senior stylist had been working on my hair, this situation wouldn't have happened. She even suggested I should have left a note stating my hair is thick and takes longer to dry. No one else at the salon spoke to me as I left, and I was upset, leaving with my hair still wet and no further apologies. I emailed the salon on July 2nd to express my disappointment and was told someone would reach out, but I have yet to receive any response. Overall, I am very disappointed by this experience and will not be returning. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I went in for what I thought was a pretty simple request- root tap/smudge and to blend my money piece a little with a lowlight or two. I was told 20 minutes into the appointment that it would be upgraded to a "color correction" because I was the one who colored my money piece originally and the price would go from $130 to $200. What? If I never said I was the one who put highlights in my hair, would I have ever been charged for a color correction? Probably not. I had several stylists there even tell me I did a nice job with the money piece. 3 hours later I left with brown hair. My money piece was completely gone and all blonde had been taken away. I never asked for this. I leave, sit on it for a few days, and decide I need to try to see if there's anything they can do to fix it because I'm really unhappy with it. I message the colorist asking to lighten it, she says to come in by 3:45pm. I arrive at 3:40 and am not seen by her until 4:25. Finally she looks at my hair and tells me it is blonde and I have a money piece still. At that point, she tells me there's nothing she can do to lighten it because my hair would essentially fry off at this point. I respect her professional opinion and as annoyed as I am that I drove 30 mins to get there, paid for parking, and waited another 45 mins to be seen by her, I'm just ready to be done with this place. She walks me up to the front desk and I'm met with the manager. Who is now telling me that they charged me the wrong amount when I had the service done originally and I underpaid. I would owe them $70 that day before leaving. Ahh. So it all makes sense now. I was told my hair could be fixed, never with the intention of actually fixing it, but instead to get me into the salon so they could get the outstanding balance paid. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a salon in my life. Literally felt like I was being ambushed. I was extremely dissatisfied with my service and yet forced to fork out MORE money for it. No accommodations of any kind were offered to help make me satisfied with my service. Sadly had to attend my best friend's wedding with hair that I felt so unconfident with and now having to pay more money to get it fixed again. This place is not good and I felt very taken advantage of. Do not recommend even for "easy hair requests." read more

The salon is located on the bottom floor of 900 Michigan Ave. You'll find a little check-in tablets where you'll type in your number and notify the system you're there. I came in for only a haircut so I sat right on the purple couches to wait for my stylist to grab me. Van Daisy was my stylist and I absolutely love her. She's a perfect mix of chatting and not chatting with you, which I prefer! She took my long, weighed down hair and gave it some life. My hair is on the thinner side (but I do have a lot of it) and she was able to make me feel 1000x lighter/bouncier after getting my cut. She took her time making sure my face frame and all my layers were perfect. (Picture below were taken the next day post cut). I'll definitely be coming back for future cuts! Pro Tip: - online booking is the easiest and different stylists do for different prices that from $65-100+. It's worth picking a specific person if you're on a budget. - post haircut, you can grab a glass of wine or cocktail from the Aster Hall bar on the fifth floor. They have coffee, tea, food as well. Naomi did my color, and she was patient and very gentle with my extra-tangly hair (which is no small feat). I pivoted away from my usual blonde highlights to a more caramel tone, and I'm very happy with the results. Amarilis was also wonderful and super informative about how to take care of my hair. This is my second "negative" experience at the Chicago Tricoci salon. I was going to give it another try. The first time they never informed me that it was $40.00 extra for toner when you get your hair dyed. I thought I would give it another try and ONCE AGAIN BAIT AND SWITCH. I repeated three times to the customer service department "I want to confirm this price of $60.00 is for a whole head of single process color correct? Three times so that there were no misunderstandings. She confirmed 3 times yes a single process all over head. When I arrived a very nice stylist took me to a chair. She proceeded to STUFF my very nice coat into a plastic bag!!! You don't have a closet to hang up coats??????? Then she put the bag on the floor. She proceeded to tell me the color would be close to what the bottom of my hair color would be. I was ok with that but still a little uncertain. I confirmed she would do single process all over the head and she said no this is just for the roots and top of your head. That is called a "root touch up" by the way NOT a single process all over! I asked for the manager who reminded me of an experience I had with them not informing me toner is an extra $40.0" 2 years ago??!!! They actually keep notes on EVERYONE! Yikes. I said this has nothing to do with the toner I was quoted $60.00 for an ALL OVER SINGLE PROCESS where she curtly said no that's just the roots. They charge $20.00 EXTRA for the whole head!!!! So why wasn't I told this on the phone with customer service when I originally was quoted $60.00? Then they blamed it on the customer service person. They did this last time as well. THAN TRAIN YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE WHEN THEY QUOTE A price!!!!! Root touch up is quite different than all over head color treatment. This is a bait and switch salon where they promise one thing and switch it when you come in. Actually, I would have paid $80.00 HAD THE TRUTH BEEN TOLD ORIGINALLY. Please be transparent and HONEST when you quote customers prices! Do you know that you have to dry and style your hair after a color treatment?!! So Tricoci is an untruthful and rude salon. I had basically the worst salon experience of my life at Tricoci. I walked in requesting a balayage and grey coverage. I had virgin hair and really just wanted to go lighter, and was pretty uneducated about the whole thing, but had an idea of what I wanted. The stylist told me what I wanted was actually highlights and then proceeded to give me poorly done, incredibly streaky and stripey highlights. My friends and family were shocked at the poor quality, I basically looked like a Bratz doll or Christina Aguilera. Not at all what I had asked for. I ended up going to another salon to fix it. The stylist had botched my VIRGIN HAIR so badly that it took seven hours to make it look anywhere close to what I had wanted. Seven hours. I feel totally betrayed and it's really sad that my first time ever getting my hair colored turned out like this. I'm glad someone could fix it but the fact that this place is giving 2000s style zebra highlights to people who request balayage is horrific. EDIT: Tricoci refunded me even though they let me know that they usually don't because they would've liked the opportunity to fix it. I appreciate the refund regardless but I'm leaving my review up so others can see it because my experience was still so bad. read more

Mischa has been doing my extensions for the last ~2 years, and ever since she started doing them, I have gotten SO many compliments on my hair. No one can ever tell that I have extensions - she makes them so natural. I am super particular, and Mischa is always so patient and customizes the extensions to seamlessly blend with my natural hair. I am so grateful for her, and highly recommend! Karen normally assists with my extension appointments, and she is so friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful, clearly making my appointment go by much quicker. She is the best! Lastly, Sarah has been doing my single process for a couple years to cover my grays, and while I did not always have such great experiences in the past (being less knowledgeable about color having never colored my hair before), she ensures that I always have a perfect match and sufficient coverage, even though I was not willing to use permanent dye. First time coming here today (I usually go to the Old Orchard location.) with a group of 5 other women for a group massage. The front desk woman that rung us up today couldnt even be bothered to help us when we had a question about the referral bonus. Didnt bother to ask her manager and basically told us to complain and call customer service. Another front desk employee helped one of my friends out (after I paid), and gave us a different answer regarding the referral bonus. Basically no one just wanted to help figure out how we can all get the referral bonus after I brought 5 friends for this experience. We purchased 7 of their "head spa" treatments as a group Christmas gift last year. This was NOT a good experience nor worth the exorbitant price charged. They have one bowl, so can only do one treatment at a time - the first problem. The treatment itself was actually painful for those of us with longer hair - there was a lot of pulling and it was pretty miserable. They promise a camera view and analyis - which we did not receive (any of us). She put the camera on our heads but gave no analysis or even commentary, even when questioned. I'm pretty sure the stylist had no idea what she was looking at on the camera, it was a "check the box" step. There was no recommendation on hair or scalp status, no promised massage, and our hair actually felt worse afterward. During the treatment, we were just wishing it was over and I actually asked to cut mine short because it was so unpleasant. They also played no music in the room, and the constantly running water on the head felt like torture. There are 7 of us, both female and male, of various ages, and we went at different times with different "aestheticians," and none of us enjoyed or would recommend this treatment. I think Tricoci just jumped on the bandwagon because of the popularity of this option, and we chose them versus some of the smaller, local shops because it was "luxury." Big mistake - you're much better off going to the shops that specialize in this treatment. We have since tried another smaller salon that is known for this, and now understand the hype. Steer clear of Tricoci for a head spa - feels like we were scammed out of a lot of money and didn't get what was promised. Zero out of 7 of us thought it was worthwhile, pleasant, or worth repeating. I had an excellent haircut with Nico and consult with Nelida. I had been through a lot with my hair, and was very cautious during my appointment. Nico was extremely considerate, precise, and gave me an excellent haircut that made me feel more like myself again than I had for a long time. He even somehow managed to make these rather extreme yellow pieces at the front of my hair blend significantly better. I left town before I could get color with Nelida, but during the consult, she showed that she is a true professional. Instead of forcing me to detail everything that I wanted, she was able to discern the best shades for me and assured me that she, as the expert, took responsibility for knowing how to get me to my goal. I have been a client at the 900 N Michigan Ave location for 20+ years! Favi is my colorist, who is consistently AMAZING! She will always make sure you are satisfied prior to leaving the salon! I have sat with many of the stylist and there are plenty of really good ones! Van Daisey is a favorite! Hair always looks good! As for the spa, Auturo is my go to for massages! He has been there prior to me so 30+ years! Nail service, Digna is the best! Another long time staple at the MT salon! The ONLY complaint I have is with the front desk! Sometimes I have to call 3 -4 times to get an answer! But overall, I would recommend Tricoci at 900 N Michigan any day!! read more

I had my bridal hair and makeup trial with Amanda and Nina in July, and it went really well. Nina did my makeup as well as my mom's on my wedding day this past Saturday. Nina is a hoot and so talented with makeup! She's very kind and has great people skills. You can't help but give her a huge hug when you're done with her. Van Daisy did my hair, and I was a little nervous because she didn't do my trial hair. However, Van Daisy blew me away with her work. She's very talented and very sweet!
